It's about bloody time too
Release date is yesterday- I wonder if there's anything different than the one floating around here

At least there is from start a programm icon and the exe isn't anymore in the main memory which gives a advantage of almost 3Mb at your phone.

The changelog says, that they resolved audio routing problems...if they mean sound routing to phone (front) speaker it doesn't work on my diamond. Speech still comes out the top speaker. Anybody maybe got it to work?

Tried it worked but still the back-speaker is used.

Yes and that sucks!!!
Well at least its faster and better looking and better quality than fring.

This "using the main top speaker" has always been a feature of Skype. I don't think it's a bug, but its designed that way.
I believe the earpiece speaker can *only* be used by the phone module of the device, and no other apps can access it.. Maybe some experts can verify my statement.

Agree, can you use skype with headphones?
O wait ill try right now!
UPDATE 3minslater:
Yes it works headphones pretty cool great sound quality (thanks to Jewels great and fast connectivity set) and a skype designed for 6.1. IMO
what you boys think??

SIP calling can be enabled on the phone (your GPS dies hoewever), but then the sound does go though the right speaker. So yes, it is definately possible to not only use the front speaker, and I'm pretty sure this is not a feature, but just an accepted bug.
PS: Some E-Ten devices can have Skype routed to the internal speaker.

Hey mkhattab, jus wanting to know wht is data package price you are paying to etisalat in dubai... cause i am planning to subscribe to it so tht i can use skype too.... thanx a lot....

Sucks that sound always goes through loud speaker..
As far as I can see, you cant video call with it yet

SKYPE sprint htc touch mp 6900 windows mobile 6.1 NOT working
anyone know of a work around, or an older versoin of SKYPE that will work properly over the sprint data plan on this phone? sprint touch has no WI-FI.

Resco Recorder will record calls automatically. The only drawback is, it only records your voice.
This One Works Great on my HTC Wing
This should also work on the Kaiser.

Strange how some people claim that they can record phone calls with good quality for both parties in the call, while others claim that this is not at all supported on the Kaiser and any other PPC phone made by HTC.
Surely someone must be lying! Or maybe just confused!
AFAIK, recording of both parties in a phone call is only possible when the Kaiser is in speakerphone mode so that the microphone can pick up the sound from the speaker!
The resco site says that if the software only records your voice and not the caller's, that's a hardware issue, it's not a software issue. So I don't know if you'll find one that records both you and the caller if you can't get even voice notes to work that way. It seems my tmobile Wing is that way.. I can only record myself unless I put them on speaker.

Yup, the guys don't seem to have read my related articles (guys, DO FOLLOW MY ARTICLES in the General forum!!!!), where I've explained how one can find out whether his or her model is able to seamlessly record the other party (hint: the Kaiser, as with most other HTC Pocket PC phones, can't).

Using VoIP with Kaiser

Dear all,
After installing SipConfigTool.cab and WM6VoIP.cab on my HTC P4550, I finally made it work in front of a SIP server and managed to talk with another phone.
Nevetheless, the audio is rendered by the rear speakerphone (the one normally used for handsfree rendering) and not by the front one (the one used for regular phone usages, on top of the screen). Of course, I checked that I wasn't in handsfree mode, what makes me suspecting a wrong routing of the audio flow in the WM6VoIP client, that's to say the Ms standard one.
Does any of you had the same experience?
Please don't tell me to turn the P4550 to the other side to use VoIP
Thanks and regards
PP

This is a known issue/limitation of WM. No programs can re-route audio to the "usual" earpiece speaker. It can only go out thru:
1. rear speaker (as you found out)
2. a wired headset
3. a bluetooth headset if using A2DP profile (like for music-listeing for sterao BT headphones)
4. a bluetooth headset if using a small program called BTAudio or BTToggle, which reroutes the rear speaker sound of a program to almost any BT headset.
This has been most commonly noticed by Skype users - who have the same problem using Skype for WM.
The "fix", or better yet "workaround" would be the same for you as it would be for Skype users. Search this forum for Skype, and you will find your answer and links to do option #4 above, which is generally regarded as the best workaround, besides #2.
The issue with #1 is it causes a bad echo to the person you called.
Actually, I was able to quickly find the right post for the workaround:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1548652&postcount=26
read that for how to do #4. Read the whole thread for other background info.
The weird thing is: i installed Dutty_s_Tilt_TouchFlo_Rom_beta.zip which i downloaded 28-nov-2007. This ROM worked perfectly with VOIP through the front speaker. Because i did not really like this ROM (no offence) i now reinstalled my old ROM. Which is the default-installed ROM. I installed the "TNT VOIP" and the sound is coming from the rear speaker.
I guess someone has been able to get the WM6-VOIP tool working with the front speaker. Could this person perhaps create a CAB so that we can also use this.
Would be great.
Thanks.
I am using voip on Kaiser with Dutty's Touchflo ROM. Got it set up with voip.com and the call quality is lousy (choppy, jitter, etc.). It's about the same whether I use wifi or 3g. Any recommended solution for this? I know my broadband wifi connection is good since I use the softphone from my laptop over wifi with execellent results. Would trying a different codec help? Also, I can't hear any ringing on my end when I place a call. Anyone else have these issues?

How was the audio quality while speaking through the front speaker? Have you been able to work it out with the cooked ROM?

Skype & Fring

A brief survey to sastisfy my own curiosity:
How often do you guys use these apps?
If so, do you find them functional?
Do you use Bluetooth Audio or stick it out with the speaker?
Do you use them on 3G, Wifi only, or even Edge?
For me qaulity is rubbish on both using wi-fi so I don't bother anymore
I agree, Skype sounded like poo over wi-fi, and fring doesn't even open on my phone anymore.
On HTC Herald, using Skype, the call quality was crap because first, I was with Tmobile and edge was too slow. I got the kasier tytn II, and switched to at&t. Skype call quailty was alittler better now with their 3g and wifi. But then I begain to learn about different radios frequencies and how they can significantly increase/improve your reception. My skype stutters very little and the call quality is very good over 3g.
I don't use it often (twice a week maybe) I mainly use it to save my (anytime) minutes during the day and it comes in handy with I want to make international phone calls. I may just upgrade to the $99/month (Unlimited calling) plan
But in a nutshell, I believe you can improve your Skype (or Fring) call quality by experimenting with different radios.
Bluetooth and skype? Something I don't recommend, but I prefer the wired head set with Skype.
Hope this helps
Looks like that fring was not prepared that WM 6.1 will appear. Everyone who has this version of WM is not able to use fring now. used to have fring over wife - quaility was fine. skype is heavy memmory eater so only tested it nothing else
I tried using 3G but the quality was crap.
Wifi works fine for me - I use Skype quite often at home.
I find that using the head set which came with my TyTN II offers far superior call quality than the speaker.

Did she Mind, your wife? And I'm not sure I totally understand your euphemism.
Just installed Skype on my Tilt. All went well, but it seems to only want to be on speakerphone. Also, my call to echo shows no microphone present. I looked for settings to change audio prefs and could not find any. Any suggestions?
I use Skype all the time for overseas calls on both my PC and Kaiser.
I am using Dutty's 6.1 Non Palmsms version and the call quality is fine.
Using Radio 1.64.08.21
So, can I use Skype to make outgoing calls to landlines and other non-skype cell phones? Can I use it to get incoming calls of the same nature?
I read somewhere that Skype and any/all other program will ONLY use the phone speaker. It seems that the only funtions that will use the ear speaker is the phone program. Unfortunately my spearkerphone on my ATT Tilt does not function well or at all. Apparently this seems to be a very common problem with the Tilt... I suppose I can still use Skype for text chatting.
Is this true? I was hoping I wouldn't have to sign up for any minutes with ATT if I had Skype

If you plug in the headset that came with your phone, Skype (Windows Mobile?) will use that instead. Call quality is much better for me using the headset.
I rebooted my router and got Skype to hear me. The quality is not so good with the speakerphone. Unfortunately the Tilt doesn't have a standard wired headset that I know of. I thought maybe the bluetooth headset might work, but it does not connect to Skype at all. It just invokes the voice command dialer...
^It doesn't? The Wing includes one!
I think there is a jack for a stereo headset but not sure which one is compatible... Will have to do some research.
On my kaiser, dutty's 6.1 ROM, fring works better than skype... call quality, connection timings, all are good.. maybe due to HSDPA..
I'm using Skype over HSDPA and WiFi and quite satisfy with it, voice clarity is good (using Sony 970 Bluetooth), good call handling, just don't try to use it over Edge

you need to get a headset that does both handsfree and headset profiles. I have the lubix stereo headphones and it works great both as wireless headphones and handsfree.
For the person thinking about just going with skype as voice, your limited to where you have good 3G connection.

How about VOIP (via SIP) on Touch Diamond

Hi there,
I am currently using the Nokia N95 and am considering to switch to Touch Diamond, however I am very fond of the VOIP/SIP functionality on N95, is Does the Touch Diamond also support proper VOIP through SIP?
I don't think there's a built in SIP client, but there are a few third party ones for windows mobile. The main problem usually is that each manufacturer handles the 'ear' speaker differently, and without modifying the source code the sound comes out of the main speaker, unless you use a handsfree.
Haha...Or you could try modifying the wiring.
use SJPhone for Pocket PC
also try the microsoft SIP client: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=VoIP_on_Windows_Mobile_6
Has anyone tried the microsoft VOIP client?? If so any news on which speaker is used?? I have a hermes which works perfectly with the internet calling client but the Kaiser and Polaris uses the external speaker and it´s a bit of a pain.

This is due to the fact that the VoIP can only interact with the system sound platform, not the radio/phone sound platform.
Headsets will work fine, as the ear piece handles both system sound and radio/phone sound.
Are any other SIP clients different?
Usually its platform/vendor specific how they handle the ear speaker. I remember way back CiceroPhone used to be one (comercial) app that was able to use the ear speaker.
Has anyone tried installing the microsoft integrated VOIP yet to see which speaker is used??

When I tried using the "destro0_VOIP_WM61" file to enable VOIP, sound was received through the internal speaker (ie...the normal speaker that you use when you talk on the phone). The only problem was that the volume level was low.

Installing the above file disrupted the GPS. It could not be recognized by any software, including the QuickGPS app. I had to hard-reset to get everything back in order.

Are you sure about this? It's just that, from everything I know, this is impossible from a hardware point of view.
On the Diamond, the ext. speaker is VERY close to the internal speaker. Perhaps you were just getting some bleed-through?

you could use fring (see fring.com). Works fine for SIP and offers Skype, too (whereas the original skype client did not work on my Diamond).

HD2 and sony erricson mw600 review

Hey guys, i`ve been browsing the site for a while and thought it about time to make an original contribution. I was looking for a blue tooth headset and my searches here lead me to the MW600. quite a few people were asking about it so i thought it a good opportunity to give my review now that i have one!
from the start then, i bought this as i have a very nice pair of headphones i wanted to use with the phone, but could not be doing with cords. most bluetooth headsets have their own headphones which i get along with even less. this seemed a perfect solution to both problems.
the box it comes in is flimsy at best, indeed the plastic tab to hang the box on is completely lose, useless for hanging up in a shop.
out the box, its a lot smaller than i imagined but a bit thicker too. it comes with a charger that handily also fits the HD2 which is an added bonus and un expected!
when i paired up to the phone i was very surprised to find that the unit displayed the song info correctly. i honestly did not expect this to work outside of a sony erricson phone but it works! the next track and previous track buttons work as well, as does the play and stop buttons.
the hands free works fine as well with the person who called me not knowing i was on a hands free.
the volume control is awful, they decided to use a slider that half the time does not register me raising the volume and when it does its impossible to get the right volume setup, its either too high or too low and the slider is too imprecise to get the setting i want!
I cannot comment on the enclosed head phones as i never used them!
When i play some music through the device ( and that is of course what its for) the results are slightly dispaointing. the sound is okay, but that is about as best as i can describe it. maybe its because i am spoilt by the good quality output from the 3.5mm jack on the phone, maybe i am just used to having some EQ on (which the unit does not provide for and the phone says it cannot apply `audio booser` without somer thing being plugged in the 3.5mm jack) but the bass is there (thanks on no small part to the ehadphones rather than the unit) but the mid seems `transparent` with no real hit and the highs are annoyingly 'sparkly'. This os of course my opinion, and others may find the output perfectly fine and for comparison i also do not like the output of ipods as i find their mid lacking as well so if your happy with i pod output you maybe happy with this units output,
I have never needed to re charge the unit yet after 3 days of having it and listing to it in the morning for 2 hours and on the way home for an hour so the battery seems quite good.
I love the unit but the quality of the output means i will only really use it when i have to, prefering to use the audio jack output, i am however going to look into how the unit works as i suspect the phone is sending SBD encode audio and not the native mp3. if i can ge tthe unit to decode MP3 and the phone to send mp3 then i think we have a winner!
For reference i used CD originals encoded to lame 3.98 -V1.
just ordered mine. thanks for the review. i will also post up my opinion of the headset when it arrives. if it is as good as the include wired version, that will be good enough for me.
Hey thanks for the review as I'm getting one but you didn't speak about the radio does it work? anything else? cheers mate
Thanks for your review.
But could you edit it so that it's not so hard to read?
Spaces between a few sentences would suffice.
Thanks for the review, install WOW SRS and it should improve the sound quality via bluetooth but it will kill audio booster when plugged with the 3.5mm jack and always use WOW SRS.
Vrery nice, all working apart from Cyberon voice dialer, you can initiate Cyberon voice application by clicking the phone button on headset but can't pass voice to the phone as it doesn't recognize voice. It looks like the problem relates to cyberon not mw600.

The Miri V10 ROM is on the HTCpedia forums (I think it is V11 now, not tried it)
Just got mine, tried it and I have to say:
THE MUSIC QUALITY IS CRAP!!!!!
headphones arrived today. WOW. excellent audio and far better than oem headphones. have yet to play with it on radio etc, but so far very impressive.
I have a problem
After the end of any audio file
Lose "stereo audio" connection
and have to push the play button to reconnect "stereo audio"
and also
After the end of calls
Lose "Hands Free" connection
and have to push the Talk button to reconnect "Hands Free"
but if i received a call
"Hands Free" reconnect automatically
But there is a delay for two seconds
I do not know this is normal?
Like power autosaving!!!
this is definately not normal. mine works flawlessly. no need to reconnect ever. i would suggest checking your bluetooth settings and pairing settings again to make sure everything is correct.
I am using smartWatchM with Sony Ericsson MBW-150
I think there is a conflict between the Watch and mw600 connection
The problem is from latest windows build (23569) & (21903 )
When i go back to an old build like (23519)
There is no conflict between the Watch and mw600 connection
Waiting for a solution to this problem or update for Windows without problems
Delays
Does anyone else experience a 3-5 sec delay when the HD2 jumps 1 song/chapter forward?
My combination gives a this delay, which is especially annoying when listening to audiobooks!
I miss a few seconds of every new chapter, need to manually jump 1 chapter forward and the back again.
Does not appear when manually going forward/reverse only when HD2 is in control.
