Activesync issue ? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

My Tilt isn't syncronizing no more with PC, it used to work well but suddenly stopped. When I conect the cable just charges and nothing else. With the same cable Qtek S100 and TouchDual activate Activesync. Is there any way to reinstall just activesync on my Tilt?

I had what sounds like the exact same issue.....it turned out to be the pins in the usb connector on the device in that they were not contacting properly when the cable was plugged in....I was able to VERY GENTLY bend the pins back up which solved the issue immediately (need to be VERY careful not to bend them too much as they'll break) the centre of the connector is pretty flimsy as well so you need to take extreme care when doing this. I used a staple to push the pin up from the tip of the pin in the connector. It helps to have a magnifying glass or similar when your doing this.
Hope this helps. Cheers GT.

thanks you saved my life, i moved the pins activesync letme use the phone, already unlocked it

I have this peculiar problem with my O2 XDA IIi. Whenever, I connect the charging cable, I am unable to hear the incoming call, even after disconnecting from charger, I can not hear anything. Only after, the caller dials again, with my charger disconnected, could I take the call. Please help.
Me too.
But I have this problem with retractable usb cable for sync/charge.
With cradle I haven't this problem.
Do you have problem with cradle also ?
Is there anyone with the same problem ?

I am too experiencing this problem when charging it using retractable sync cable on my XDAIIi.
Yes, I have the same problem. It is so anoying that sometimes I have to leave my phone off the cradle so I can receive calls.
I would love to hear how to avoid this problem. I think may be I am using ActiveSync 4.0 and it may cause this problem but I cannot tell that for sure.

I have the problem with ActiveSync 3.8 also but with retractable usb cable only, with Qtek cradle all works perfectly.
But I think is not an ActiveSync problem, because I didn't hear phone calls also without launching ActiveSync.
I think the problem is in the cable, but I'm not sure
It is the cable fault, I was using XDA II and now XDA IIi, some of the retractable sync cable or normal sync cable have this problem. After some search, I managed to get a normal sync cable that able to do that

I have the same problem with my retractable cable and a cheap USB cable that I got from eBay.
Sounds like it might just be aftermarket USB cables that have this issue...
Has anyone tried taking calls with an OEM USB cable attached?

My XDA 11i doesn't ring when it is on the original cradle charging and connected....
this is really annoying, is there anything I can do ?
@pettiforj
I have the problem with retractable cable only (see up), then I don't know what suggest to you .
Have you tried with an hard reset ?
I know it's an extreme way to try to resolve the problem, otherwise I don't know alternatives, I'm sorry
Same snag with Tom Tom
I have the same problem when using Tom Tom, When I plug in the Sync/charging cable I lose all audio !
So I can either Use the Tom Tom or charge the PDA but not both!
I also have the backpack fitted and this does not charge when using the cable. however it does charge on the cradle.
Does anyone know of a Sync / charging cable that works properly with the XDA II i

You have to change the cable. I also had same problem but after I changed the cable everything is working fine. Its good if you go to market and check the cable by connecting before purchase.
the way to fix your problem
this problem is in your cable.
1. open the cable box.
you will see there is a socket.
2. cut the 2nd electric wive, it's mass.
that 's all.
the problem is, this cable is not for your O22i, it's for O22s.
this is not because the cable is for o2s only, because this is the cable of china.i have the same problem, just do like u,it will ok.
if you dont want to do that.u can do this way: when have incomming call, just normal answer, but then press the hold button and press resume button,u will answer nornal.
Give more details

Thanks, I used to think this bug caused by operating system of WM2003. But could you tell me more what is the hold button and resume button. My PPC is O2 xdai
Slide up an down the volume slider does the trick too. The problem is really the cable and, as kenphan said, the presence of mass (it is normal and doesnt cause the problem when you are using a Blue Angel - I have and use both 2i and 2s).
The answer to what you asked: You can hear a coming phone by Bluetooth earphone while charging or connecting
Same Problem
Guyz i have the same problem with my O2 XDAIIi and using O2 XDAII china cable. i tried to open the cable and look for the faulty ping to disconnect i count figure it out, after googleing found that Pin5 (SngGnd shouldn't be grounded) so i disabled the pin5 gnd and still the problem exists
the cable is like that
Pin2,5 connected with a black gnd cable and a short circuit betweeb (Pin2,5) to Pin18and all other cables are connected in the middle
as in the Pic illustrated please guyz i do really need your help as the cable is Sync/USB Charge/Car Charge for me its my life & i cannot find a replacement in my country. your help is highly appreciated.
thanks
Someone elsewhere on the forum solved this one but at your own risk!!
Connector signal descriptions here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index...ame=Connectors
The response noted that pin2 (GND/Sense) was connected to the other GND pins at the XDA end of the cable on his USB cable. The notes in the above web page say this will cause the phone to hang up.
He disconnected this pin from GND and says now he can hear phonecalls when the cable is plugged into the phone.
I will have to open my connector up and see if this is the same on mine !

Help me psl my IIi can not heard phone conversation

Help me psl my IIi can not heard phone conversation when plug sync charger.
I have exactly the same problem.
I bought a retractable sync/charge cable from ebay.
http://stores.ebay.co.uk/PDA-Sync-and-Charge-Cables-and-Crad
However, if the cable is plugged into the phone, then the phone speaker (and I think also the mic) are muted. The cable dosn't even have to be plugged into the PC USB port to cause this problem.
At first I thought this was some incorrect wiring on pin 19 of the connector at the XDA end of the cable. This signal is meant to control whether the sound is driven out of the car kit pins or not. However, this signal was not connected on the connector, which should be ok.
I noticed that if the phone is paced in the original sync cradle, then the pda appears to go into handsfree mode, which would tally with one of the functions of pin 19.
All I can guess is that the s/w in the phone detects a signal on the USB pins and attempts to route sound out via the car kit pins.
Anybody know of a fix for this?
Cheers,
Chris.
I know many people have exactly this problem. It is not a problem of our XDAIIi, it is the problem of the Sync charger. I remember someone has shown how to fix this problem of the sync charger in a Vietnamese mobile phone forum but I don't understand anything 'bout electric so I can not translate it. What a pity!
Hi MrSandman,
I dont speak Vietnamese, but I do know electronics.
If you could post a link to the forum, I may be able to make some sense of it.
Thanks,
Chris.
I have the link but I'm sure u will not understand anything 'cause everything is in Vietnamese. In that topic, one guy said that he could fix that f***ing problem and if anyone wanted to fix it, just brought the sync charger to him. He just shown how to fix it in a few words that no one could understand. But in general, he said: "open the plug head of the sync charger and remove the first "masse" string". Does anyone know what is the "masse string"?
Fixed !!!
This works for my cable - but try this at your own risk!!
After thinking about it some more and re-reading the connector signal descriptions here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Connectors
I took another look at the wiring in my cable.
I noticed that pin2 (GND/Sense) was connected to the other GND pins at the XDA end of the cable. The notes in the above web page states this will cause the phone to hang up.
I disconnected this pin from GND and now I can hear phonecalls when the cable is plugged into the phone.
I noticed that pin 5 (Analog GND) was also connected to the other GND pins which is also apparently a bad thing. I disconnected it just in case.
Pins 20,21 and 22 are the 5v positive charge connections. They are not connected in my cable and I wondered about connecting them to the USB 5v signal. I decided to leave it in the end as they may draw too much current form the USB port. The phone does charge anyway - just very slowly.
Hope this helps.
Chris.
Mentioned fix works fine for me
Thanks!
I have the same problem also.. i've read the wiki but did'nt catch well what it saying. Please put in in a simple words step by step what to do..oo please..
2 GND / SENSE
5 ANALOG GND
16 GND
17 GND
18 GND
In my cable connector there were two small red wires soldered to 3 pins (from '2' to '5' and from '5' to all three GND pins which were soldered together as one pin;
The thing is that '2' shouldn't be connected to GND. In wiki there were suggestion not to connect '5' to GND as well (has nothing to do with sound problem).
I removed those red wires and everything is working fine (I'm using it for a month now);
Be careful and good luck!

How to unlock when my USB port broken?

My phone is cingular 8125, my USB port can't sync with PC, I don't know what is going on. When I plug the cable to PC, it tell me unknow device detected. I can't do anything thur USB. Can I unlock by SD card or IR port?
Have you tried connecting you phone to a different PC? Also deinstall Activesync and reinstall it (are you running 4.2 or 4.5).
are you able to charge your phone with the AC/DC charger? if so ur port isnt broken.. so try doing what mmrfrazzz says and u could also go a step further and try uninstalling the usb port drivers then reinstalling them. do your other usb devices work? does ur phone indicate its charging when plugged into usb?
I have 2 8125, the other one is OK. I am using Activesync 4.2. I replaced the USB port, it's work for minutes. After dinner, it only charging but not sync!

From what I understand from your post, it sounds like you have a cold solder joint on the contact or contacts that carry the sync signal; you may need to re-solder these. It only worked for a few minutes because when you applied pressure to the USB port by inserting the plug you compromised the already weak solder point. It works when charging because it charges over different contacts then when it synchronizes. It seems your first solder job was not sound.
PS. If the solder is dull (not shiny), it usually indicates a cold solder joint.
I had this problem with an 8125 i bought on friday for 20 bucks. they had broken the usb port. so i took one out of a razr phone and put on the 8125. at first it would only charge thru usb but not hook up on activesync. but then some how when i soldered it it worked and was able to update it and all that crap. The only thing is that it will not charge with a regular charger. it will only charge when connected to a computer. but hey atleast it works now.
Yes, I was re-soldered the USB port. I have compared my workable and the un-workable one by electric-meter. They are same connecting status, but just not work! I can be charge but not synchronize . Is some IC or chips damaged?

which program do you use to over clock your 8125? can you post here or send to me? [email protected]
I use batterystatus. but the thing is is that some devices respond different to speeds. for example my MDA can only be overclocked to 286. anything higher it freezes up. On my 8125 i can overclock it to 299 with no problem at all. So its trial and error. try it out and see what you can get.

USB socket not USB?

Cannt help but think that I am missing something very simple here.
I have just gone to plug it to the PC and notice that the socket on the bottom of the phone isnt mini USB.
However, the USB lead supplied with it is mini usb. I have tried to force it in, but it wont go
Am confused.
yer putting it in upside down. it's mini usb. trust me
<blush>
thanks
Its a special type of mini-usb called an HTC EXTUSB that allows voice as well as data...
Turn it the other way around. You've got it upside down.

USB/ handsfree problem?

Hi all,
Got a bit of a random problem here. In the last couple of days my Tytn II stopped recognising the USB (wired) handsfree kit. It would simply continue to play sound to the normal speaker, rather than through the headphones.
Fairly simple issue, you might think - either the handsfree or the USB port. Except that the phone will connect to my PC via USB, and recognise that it's connected. And when I connect a friend's working USB handsfree kit (from an Orange SPV phone), I have the same problem on my phone.
Anyone got any ideas as to what the frig is going on and how I might fix it?
Thanks!
your device's usb port has crapped out...
from what i've read on countless other threads in this section of the kaiser forums, the usb port on your device has TWO sets of connections...
...the pins along the top and the pins along the bottom...one is for usb syncing and the other is for audio input/output...
...put your device under a strong light and (use a magnifying glass?) to check for bent pins or other wear and tear
...search for the threads i've mentioned for more insight and how to find a replacement part if it is needed in the worst case
good luck!
Ah, gotcha. That sounds more plausible than a driver issue, and would explain the disparity in hardware issues. I'll take a look!
