White Screen with Vertical Lines - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Out of no where my phone screen is mostly white with lots of multi colored vertical lines. I tried resetting it hard, soft, and reset it to the defaults. I still cannot see anything on the screen. I assume its a loose cable to the screen, but since i am under warrenty i didnt open it up. I already have a replacement warrenty phone on its way, but i dont wanna return a cooked rom. What do u guys think the best way to reformat the phone back to an original rom?

Can you take a screenshot of it?

I cant see anything on the screen. But ill take a picture of the screen...
http://www.dbhosts.net/bob/photo.jpg
Thanks

from what I can see from the photo your screen is cracked

No its not cracked at all. Ill try and take a better picture.

To take a better image, use MyMobiler (although i do suspect it'll give the regular windows screen).

that certainly looks like a crack to me, it won't be really apparent if its on the back side

yeah that is for sure cracked, well unless you drew on the screen with a black marker. you do know that if you send a warranty phone in that has physical damage they charge you the cost of the replacement phone they sent you?

i tried using my Mobiler (which by the way ****ing owns) and i dont see anything wrong with the screen.

can anyone say ****? How the **** could i have cracked? (obviously u cant answer that). I already started the warrenty process. Any smart ideas?

ive read a few threads that screens will just crack sometimes without real damage. sorry man that sucks.

I appreciate everyones help. Maybe they will look past this small "crack". Do u think its possible to re flash the rom without a working screen?

yeah i suppose you could flash it but you won't be able to calibrate the screen, try it and then check my mobiler to see what is going on.

here is my next issue. I cant find the text file that i stored the original radio and rom version. What is the best OEM to go with? *im an att customer and i got this phone thru warrenty in may*

i haven't read through it but that should help.

Screen goes black when I slide out keyboard

My Xperia is messed up....
Has NO damage... No water damage, hasnt been dropped, overheated or anything...
Last night I was going to respond to a text and slid out the keyboard and the screen went blue... okay...weird... slid it back, still blue. So I restarted it. Heard the "ding" for the power off button. Turned it off. Turned it back on. Started to respond again. Slid it out... No blue screen, just had black and white lines, then went black, but it would never come back to the regular screen.
I have NO idea what triggered this. NONE. I've had no problems with my phone whatsoever.
What I've dont to try and fix it:
-Turn it on and off (obviously, to get the screen back on)
-battery pull
-sim pull
-hard reset
I bought the phone off of EBay. Has no warranty. I got a warranty with Squaretrade for my fiance's cell phone and when he needed to make a claim (it would power off when it was clammed shut...no damage to it. Also you couldnt hear out of the phone at all)) they said they couldnt do anything. I decided that was worthless and that I'm not going to get a warranty with them. Smart move not getting one period, but Ive had bad expierences with them anyways...
What else can I do? I'm @ a total loss... I don't know what else I can do since I've dont the hard reset. I'm trying to avoid taking it to a cell phone repair place b/c I have a hard time trusing people with electronics now (long story) unless I know you.
Thanks for reading and helping if you can!!

I have this problem on one of mine also....it appears the flexribbon has gone bad...lcd is good....but when the keyboard slides out the screen goes black...tried another board and lcd in the phone problem still persists...this only leaves the ribbon as the culprit.

Ill be sure to tell the people @ the service center what the problem could be. That helps alot. Upsets me that I had to do a hard reset for no reason and mess my phone all up, oh well!

Yup out of the blue
same problem here wildchild is correct its the rigid flex ribbon. unfortunately it will take a month before the parts arrive since its not readily available at Sony Ericsson service centers...
Unfortunately i just got this problem yesterday.
Suddenly, when i slide out the keyboard, screen fades and goes black.
When i slide it back screen is still on but black.
To bring it back i just click power button twice to put it to sleep and wake it up again. I assume this is the same problem and the ribbon cable is loose, correct ??
I was thinking of following one of the disassembly vids to try and open it and make sure the cable is connected correctly.
What do you guys think ? Give it a shot or too risky?
I am not sure if the ribbon cable is damaged and am assuming its just loose because the screen works fine without the keyboard out.
Any advice would be appreciated.
P.S - had the xperia 3 weeks now, bought it used (about 6 months) with no warranty, Its X1i running Energyrom 3.0 (05/08) build.
A month?? Man, that's a long time... geeee wiz. I asked them asn they said about 7-10 busimess days, so we will see... but I trust it'll be about a month since you said they don't have the parts. I shipped it off Friday, put insurance on it, and said a prayer. I hate my Quickfire, its my backup phone... HATE, LOATHE.... DIEEEEE lol.
Ive been searching for other phones to replace this one if i continue to have other problems... but i cant find one I like. i Love WM, the QWERTY, and touch. Felt like i was send my child off to school or something.
I was actually able to find the flex ribbons on ebay took 6 days to get them from china, bought two of them since I have 2 sitting here with the same exact issue....they were about 60 dollars a piece and are here already...will report back after I repair the phones....
Regards,

hey man.. i got the same thing happened to my phone also.. slice keyboard out screen gose black... but phone is still running... why dont chu try the black card in ur box... give them a ring they should help u out... i bought my from ebay also... but lucky is a x1a so in melb which telstra sale it... check urs if is a x1a or not.. it should come with a warranty for 12 months... hope this can help...
I have this also, my pghone is 5 months old. Senrt it away and they didnt have parts. After 3 weeks Sony sent an exchange unit. Opened up the box but the exchange unit is broken! The optical pad doesnt work at all and when I make calls no one can hear me at all..
I had exactly the same problem, besides the regulary cracks
So ive send it in, and a week later ill got a new one. Even with a second battery lol.
The flex cable fixed my issue....so to confirm this is the issue....repaired mine this evening, working perfect, abit tricky to get it all apart but is doable....
Regards,
WC
I got my phone back from Sony on the 9th. They said there was a loose part. I sent it off on Aug 28, and got there on Sept 2, so it didnt take long at all like I thought it would. I was so tired of the other phone. Sad when a phone runs your life haha.
That was such a nice day...went and got fitted for contacts for the first time as well as a getting a new vision rx, came home with perfect vision and what was on my door step, my beloved X1i. I smiled sooooo big. I didnt expect it for a month! They said it should be 7-10 days at the service center though when I called them.
It was still under factory warranty, so I did'nt have to pay for the repair, but I sure would have paid if I had to... lol.
sigh having the same problem now
i used to be excited to put my treo 750 to sleep before when i changed to x1. but apparently i keep taking it out of the box again everytime i have to get my x1 repaired
i just got it back 2 weeks ago when i got fed up with the keyboard button problem.
now it seems i have to bring it back once again since the screen goes blank on me when i slide out the keyboard
hopefully they can fix it on the spot, maybe just a loose connection as compared to a broken ribbon.
was hoping to use the GPS when i go out of the country, paid and got the needed maps already. but i have only a week before i leave. hopefully itll get fixed by then

[Q] Broken Screen

Hi there, I know there are other threads on this, but I've got two questions;
I might be able to claim a repair on insurance - the policy doesn't state anything about rooting voiding it, but I'd want to play it safe and flash back the original RUU - now, the digitizer works on my phone, but the LCD is totally shot, can't read anything.
It's been a while since I flashed the RUU, so is there any point where you have to press a button or something on your phone to advance? is it possible to use ddms while flashing the RUU to see what you're doing?
Also, if I can't claim this on insurance, how hard is it to replace the screen yourself? I've seen a "genuine" (hmm.) LCD/tools set on ebay for about the same amount as my insurance excess, so this seems like it could work (if it's easy enough!).
Thanks!!

I've not done it personally but I have seen the guys in the phone shops doing it.
It's not that hard, but you have to know what and where to remove. Just go slow first.
pardon this but what is ddms?
Hi,
I have flashed RUU for my Tattoo at least twice. And as far as i remember there is no point you have to do anything on your phone. It will reboot (into fastboot i think). You will se progress on computer screen.
By the way, how can the LCD be broken and the digitizer not? Is the lcd shattered?
This is against laws of physics!
Oh, maybe I got the letters wrong but ddms is part of the android sdk, so you can take screenshots on your computer - also handy if you've broken your screen and need to know where to press.
As for defying the laws of physics, I guess the Tattoo is more special than we thought! the lcd is showing up loads of black/white cracked patterns (but a small it at the bottom works, so I can just about make out my dock. )
Thanks, insurance guys seem to be a bit more helpful now, so hoepfully won't have to resort to doing it myself.
Just in case anyone else has this problem, found this nice photo-guide to unscrewing everything: http://translate.google.com/transla...acenter.ru/razborka/htc_tattoo/&prev=_t&twu=1
haven't got round to it yet, but should do after exams.
Thanks useful info.
I have opened and dismentled everything my tattoo 3-4 times refering the guidlines. It is really helpful.
I was trying to resolve a touch screen problem. My phone acted like something is always touching at a point of the screen, so, I couldnot able to select a thing correctly and it is worst while typing using screen keyboard. So, I disassembled my tattoo and clean everything inside and assembled again. It seems working correctly for few hours then the problem reoccurred. And I disassembled again and again.
Atlast, I found out the problem was just on the screen protector, I have removed it and resolved the problem. Funny problem but it is worth all those efforts.
Bad Digitiser
Recently the Digitiser of my phone went bad. I tried flashing back the Stock RUU but did not succeed since it was not able to detect my phone. Then I just flashed back the backup of the stock ROM and took it to the Service Center. To my surprise the person didn't even check whether the phone was rooted lr not. Since it was out of warranty I still had to pay I still had to pay $45.

[Q] Note N7000 possibly dead - Triage? Morgue? Repair?

Folks,
Need a bit of help here. N7000 just hit the ground and something cracked. It doesn't look like the external screen has cracked but the display is all kinds of messed up. I can get part of the screen to respond, but some of it won't...
Asking a few questions... This device has multiple layers of the "screen" correct? How can I check to see what is cracked, and what can be repaired?
Currently the screen has gone to a green hue, it looks like probable damage to the LED screen? I can receive calls, and my HS3000 was connected when it fell so bluetooth is working, but I cannot see any info...I can perform calls via the headset.
Looking to find some options and get an idea of costs involved in any possible self repair. Any other help is greatly appreciated.
This never happened to my N900. :crying:

Screen wont turn on

So one day after working out I took out my phone from my pocket and basically the screen wont turn on at all. upon further inspection it looks like that there is a very VERY minor scratch UNDER the screen ranging from right above the home button from the left to right corner. it is barely visible and you have to look at it in the perfect angle just to see the crack. I am freaking out and not sure what I should do. The phone will turn on and everything and it seems like i can actually touch things on the phone and I will hear feedback from it but just no image will display at all. It is a blank screen as if the phone is turned off. Any ideas on how to fix this? or would I need to try to fix the screen all together?

Sounds like what happened on my S4... when taken to AT&T they said it was a pressure crack. That's not the glass, that's the screen itsel lf possibly due to excessive heat OR if something heavy was left on it (or not that heavy, just on top of the phone for quite a while). Either way, you would need the screen replaced or you can take it to AT&T and see what you can do This is only from my own experience and knowledge, however my S4 broke due to presumed heat (don't know how) and nothing on it, though AT&T refuses to rule that possibility out. Sorry if I couldn't help too much

You helped do not worry! So I called samsung and when I explained how exactly the crack appeared, he told me that I could send it in and they can see what they can do (I was kinda nervous because I was rooted but I was able to odin it back to stock thank god its not hard at all to do even without what is viewable on the screen lol) The rep told me something along the lines of it could be either dead pixles is what I am seeing and not a crack. I kinda doubt thats why its like that but idk. He said that when samsung gets it they will do a hardware check and if they can determine if the crack was not made due to me dropping it then they will fix it. As for how true this is I have no idea! I never in my life had to use a warranty before so im scared to find out what they say!

If you see the crack under the screen when it's off then I'm pretty sure that's not dead pixels, I would show you my S4 but my dad has it in custody to get it fixed and sell it sometime in the future... basically, everytime I rebooted the phone, more cracks came, and then they grew. I'm glad I could help though and I hope that the warranty covers it even with Odin flash, however root is within the system I believe so even a clean Odin flash may remove root but not all traces Hopefully they won't bother checking the entire system for traces, but if they do... thennnn you're kinda screwed sadly. Considering you're sending this to the actual manufacturer (Samsung) instead of the carrier (AT&T) then it is very likely that they will find out about the root. Whether they really care? (Which they probably do, screw your enterprising ways Samsung) That's up to them now. I wish you the best of luck!!!! Tell me how it goes

Screen Flickering

Hey guys
I have a very strange problem with my Huawei P10
About 2 weeks ago, I noticed that two purple horizontal stripes are appearing in a 3-4sec sequence
Normally, I would immediately ask for a repair, but there's a thing which persecutes me: it only happens when I don't touch the screen for longer than 3-4sec
When there's a continuous contact with the screen (e.g when writing a message) nothing happens, everything is fine and dandy, but whenever I leave the screen for itself for 3 or more seconds (e.g when watching a movie), the stripes start to appear every few seconds, and continue until the screen goes dark or until I touch it again, but after touching it it still takes only a few seconds for the stripes to sequentially flicker again
Here's what I've tried so far (no result):
- safe mode
- factory reset
- cache partition wiping
- cord input deep clean
What may be the reason?
Hey.
It's 100% a board or Display issue. send it for repairs. but i believe maybe you've dropped ur phone. Anyways Huawei knows better.

It's quite complicated
I once dropped it, but even after that, the previous LCD worked fine, there were no errors other than broken glass, so I guess we could exclude a board issue and lean toward your second option, as now that the LCD has been replaced, the fault occurs
What's more, I noticed that if I press the Home Key, and then put my finger in the bottom right corner and hold it, I can still use the whole LCD space without the flickering (I need to press the Home Key first so that it works after I hold my finger in the corner)
It's like the LCD needs to be in contact with your finger all the time to avoid that, which has led me to an idea: would a tempered glass solve that maybe?

I can't really answer for sure but i believe if there's a Huawei service center in your city and you try to fix ur broken huawei, your wasting your time. Whatever solution u apply on ur phone its just gonna be temporary since u hide your problem and not solved it.

I still think (or should I say believe ) that there's a solution which doesn't involve another screen replacement
As for your "temporary solution" mention, I guess if I found one, it wouldn't be temporary, since the fault doesn't progress, it's been the same for a month or so when it first occured, which gives me another reason not to replace the screen and keep looking for other possibilities
I don't need a Huawei service center, I can replace the LCD myself (didn't do that the first time though), but it still involves spending money, whereas I've been looking for unpaid solutions the whole time; getting a new LCD is an extremity

You can ask them to diagnose it and tell you about problem noone makes you pay for a lcd. And after reading your message over and over (And since i repair TVs and everything with electronics inside) i think it also can be your touch or display controller ic. Mostly it could be from touch ic since screen works fine while its in touch with something. But someone has to try your lcd or mb on a healthy one to make sure. which you can't do nothing like that. or do you?
@fengels did You bought original lcd, where can I buy it in good price?
I know this problem from older galaxy series like s5. The fix for this most of the time was disable auto brightness or higher the brightness on auto brightness. Don't know if this is the same problem, but it could be a try. Also don't know which cause this strange problem. Hope it can help you

No, it's a different problem, in the galaxy series the whole screen would flicker, whereas in my P10 it's only 2 horizontal stripes appearing in a 4-5 sec sequence whenever I leave the screen untouched for longer than 5sec
Playing around with the brightness doesn't solve that unfortunately, actually no in-device settings do, as I've tried almost every single option which is screen-related, like switching the eye comfort mode on, but still no result
The main reason why I'm still looking for an unpaid solution is that apart from this one error, the phone is like brand new, everything works fine
ok, so if I understad the problem shows up after you replaced the LCD display? So do you really think is more software related than hardware? I personally would send it to diagnose and repair.

The thing is it didn't show up immediately, I had used the phone for some time with no errors before it first occured
Also, since the new LCD was set, I haven't done any physical damage to it, I've never dropped or sunk the phone
Since you guys mostly advise me to send it, I guess that's what I will have to do

While you were replacing screen, did you turn your device off and disconnect the battery? and i think cleaning all cables coming from LCD and related sockets on motherboard can help. Use thinner or alcohol and if you wanna use thinner be careful so it wouldn't touch anything except golden contacts. Thinner is dangerous and affects ur phone color and plastic parts.

I did turn the device off, but I didn't take the battery off, since it's strongly glued to the phone's body, and I didn't want to damage it
Anyway, could not taking the battery off really be the reason?
As for cleaning, I did it by simply blowing out all the potential dirt, I'm inexperienced in thinner and alcohol cleaning

I am not sure butbon some phones it damages screen. I've seen this on laptops. But anyways its done. Open ur phone and use alcohol. put 2 drops of alcohol on each socket and flat cable connectors and brush it with a soft brush. u don't want to bent any golden contact. It's last thing u can do to fix it without paying for hardware related stuff.
