Yes, I have the one from HTC Diamond installed.
First instal: SdkCerts.
Then: Battery.cab
Soft-Reset
Enjoy.

It only displays 10% steps though, right? At least it seems to do so on the original ROMs.

yes only 10% steps. thats a pity.

Thanks! Not tried it but even though people have said 10% steps, it's better than not having any percentage steps at all!

That's true.
I've had 1% indicators on my Kaiser. But those cabs are wqvga qvga. Not vga or wvga.

is there any way to get 1% steps?

I don't think there is anyway to get 1% steps..
From what I understand the battery driver in most of the modern devices only gives out 10% info
Maybe a 3rd party app such that uses battery polling would work?

Well on my kaiser it was not 3thparty

the kaiser is not really what youd call a newer device ;p

xmoo you got a spelling error in your signature. Instead of Sony Ericsonn the companys name is Sony Ericsson.
Hmm... I'd have to give the new htc devices exposed in a shop nearby a shot and see whats what. I cant just go though and install stuff on those, the shop personnell will throw me out

The battery cab provided by xmoo (post #2), installed on a touch HD gives the percentage as it should be, ex 92% and not like the xperia per 10 steps. How come?

Obviously a different implementation of the energy management system. Question remains, if its a hardware limitation or a software limitation on the Xperia, to figure out a way around it.
Maybe people which flashed a cooked ROM have different experiences on the Xperia?

What is the RemoveSdkCerts.cab for?

Well, what do you think it is for, guessing by its name?

To remove the SdkCerts.cab file. But why would you want to remove it? Won't you need it for some othere applications as well or do you install it again when you need it?
And, is it neccesary to remove the SdkCerts.cab file?

it doesnt work for me..

Didnt mean to piss you off, was just well, the names kind of clear
The CAB itself is uninstallable, this removal-CAB clears all registry entries and deletes all the files which the installer-CAB put on the system. Dunno, maybe ppl run into problems or maybe some ppl just want a "clean" system... duh...

Backlight Manager

Is there an app that makes the backlight lit lower than current backlight for a time (secs) if the device is not used? (just to save some power) Just like in some nokia phones...
I'm managing to build one but I'm a super noob in CE programming using VB.
I dunno how to use registry so that user who modified the app will stay as it is when you softreset the device.
With Mortscript you should be able to write this quite easily. I once built one script to turn backlight back on when Tomtom mistakenly turned it off. The next day I received the Tomtom update that didn't have that bug...
There is hardly any learning curve, the manual is just a short reference, download some sample scripts, look into them and you can start writing.
success

Could you tell me more detail about Mortscript for TOMTOM?
I also worry about TOMTOM backlight. Now I use phoneAlarm to turn on backlight.
I actually used 3 scripts for Tomtom backlight problem, but didn't save them because Tomtom 6.03 no longer had that problem. Putting it all in one script didn't work because once the script started Tomtom it paused till Tomtom closed down. So one script called the Tomtom start script, that second script ended once Tomtom was starting but the first one was still able to call the third one, which wrote the correct registry settings for backlight.
Read all about Mortscript on http://www.sto-helit.de/index.php?module=page&entry=ms_overview&action=view
still downloading Visual Studio 2005... 2GB+ remaining...
Any suggestions?
Who said anything about Visual Studio???
Mortscript is a very tiny download from the link I gave you. And it's freeware.
Visual Studio is nice for very professional programmers, although lots of them use freeware/open source tools as well. For such a tiny utility as what you were talking about it's like killing a mosquito by setting off all nuclear bombs at once.

utak3r answered it already but just to be clear to all: EACH Himalaya has 4 chips infineon, always 128MB. Most of us never pick up a screwdriver to check that or any other hardware specifications.
I personally did, but that was just because:

-I'm a trained hardware technician
-I'm very curious

Title bar icons, battery and clock

So I can get my tilt to display neither, or the clock all the time, or the battery when at the today screen and clock otherwise, but is there a way to make it show both the battery and clock icons at the same time all the time?
well, you can start by searching. Also, try programs like kaiserTweak or Advanced config
Yes, I've searched and I've used both programs. I've found plenty of documentation on how to make none, one, or the other appear, but nothing on both.
Try wisbar
I was hoping for something more like a registry edit, so I could show the native icons, not a program that would add its own.
I've asked so many times about removing the network icon...and nobody has found away...
the only way I've found to have both is to use another app to add the battery to the taskbar. Currently I use SPB's Pocket Plus 4. Also there is another one that is actually a start menu replacement but can be used just for the battery icon. That app can be found here ..... http://tillanosoft.com/ce/smenu.html
QuickMenu, amongst other things, will add a battery indicator w/ % status to the start menu in conjunction with the WM6 provided clock. Best thing is, it's free and will come up easily when searched for on Google.
edit: It's similar to smittyofdhs's proggie, but newer.

Use reshack to edit phcanbmp.dll and remove the network icons from it. That will effectively work for what you're seeking.

My bad, it's phcanOverbmp.dll. Open that up in reshack (aka resource hacker), expand the 'icons' tree and you can choose to either replace them with a blank icon (recommended, I don't have any available, search for it) or delete it. As for which icons are which, that's self explanatory once you're in the app.
Hope this helps!

If you're using the stock AT&T 1.62 ROM, you are correct, there are no 3G icons found.
So, find one of the cabs that installs a new one and then edit the new phcanOverbmp.dll.

HTC Diamond & Battery Status Extended

Hi.
I was wondering if the current Diamond owners already tried to run battery status extended to overclock the 528mhz cpu to a higher speed (let's say 600mhz)? And if so, what are the experiences till now.
Kind Regards,
TheWizard
I've tried it but it doesn't work. I believe the qualcomm proc isn't an OMAP proc, so you can't overclock it using batterystatus. It does show other stats though, but the main use of batterystatus is not available here.
xzces, sounds like you only tried the "free" version, not the "advcanced" one?
i tried to install this software (cab and desktop setup) but it does not work for me: installing the advanced version, the program does not show under "programs", but very well under "remove programs". so i can not start but only remove it.
trying the normal version, i am able to start the program, but after it says that it first has to active itself, nothing happened, so i deleted this one, too.
curiously, the task manager shows up under "programs" on both versions but does not start, too.
either this software cannot run (till now) on a touch diamond or i am too stupid to get it running (perhaps the tool "advanced config" or the settings i made with it causes the problem).

TDO
Is there not a jar file for overclocking to download directly to my htc touch that will actually work? Just curious..

Speeds things a looottt.

So i backed up all the files in windows startup. Some i knew what they were and some i had no idea like:
-autoshortcut
-htcstartup
-poutlook.
The rest i knew like s2u2 etc..
So i erased them all and restarted kicks a** diamond. Shaves 3 seconds of boot up before i erased. Ver Nice.
And the best part of it all is that the memory shows a solid 60%.
If any of you noticed i belive 60% is the magic number, when the diamond runs on 60% it just feels powerful and quick.
Greetings boys. Hope it helps. Disable all your startups.

That should improve startup time by quite a bit
No Touch flow is still there I mean it still boots on start.
I like touch flow.
After doing it only 1 % more memory free. Suspect this 1 % is not even for the erase but due to the soft reseting.
So no big improvement at all?

I have these in my startup also and noticed them the other day when perusing. However, I would really like to know what they do before disabling (i.e. moving) them. Will I lose some of the device functionality when doing this?
I don't use TF3D by the way but do rely on email which is received via Synchrologic from Notes - obviously, poutlook seems suspiciously like an email "thing").

NoSleep!!.CAB - Stops the screen blanking during calls - WORKS!! [02/08/2008]

Hi
I made this little CAB to install the registry tweaks that prevent your screen from blanking. I can confirm that on my Orange Diamond, using Bepe's .97 this actually works, whereas using Advanced Config didn't solve the issue.
The CAB file is uninstallable should you wish to remove it.
Thanks,
Shinobi_UK

Actually i found that using DT didn't work either, and I also find it more convenient to apply the registry changes with a cab file, rather than having to install an app I don't use and then make a load of clicks.
If you prefer to do it using a tweaking app then this cab isn't for you. The only reason I posted it is because I use it myself.

Well actually it's been very easy to achieve by taking registry snapshots, and then using diff on a linux box to find the changes, then import them into a cab file.
So thanks for wishing me luck but it's not required.
Sarcasm breeds sarcasm and frankly i'm slightly ammused that on a forum designed to help users share tips and software, a simple CAB i use after new ROM flashes has created such a hostile response.
I'm not attempting to replace or belittle your tool monte, it's certainly streets ahead of what i can do at the moment, however as bepe's ROM lets me run cabs at build this way is nice and easy for me to ensure that if I need to do a hard reset I can reinstate my registry tweaks during the reset without having to install any additional software.

This CAB file is flawed, because it causes unnecessary battery drain.
It's wrong to make the screen never go to sleep during a phone call.
If you'll think about it for a moment, during a call we never really need the screen to be active for more than 1 minute or so, from the last time we touched it. If you are calling a digital voice machine (either your voicemail or anything), 99.999% of the time it won't take more than 1 minute between key presses.
The ideal tweak should just make the screen behave like when you're not in a call, meaning the screen reduces brightness after ~30 seconds, and shuts down after ~1 minute. In order to be 100% on the safe side, you could make it shut down after 2 minutes from last key press. BUT, making it never go to sleep is simply a waste of battery if you're doing for example a 30 minutes conversation.
center button and screen back on
My preference is to have the screen come on, see who it is, then allow it to go blank. If you need it to come back on, i just push the center of the scroll, enter button or whatever its called, and the screen comes back on. (at least it does on mine) . I like it that the screen blanks so it will save battery.
But i dont think we should discourage anyone from making any kind of cab if they desire.

Still, it is unnoying to press that damn key every 5 seconds. The screen should shut down after 1-2 minutes, but NOT never.

Thats abosolute BS. It is NOT flawed. If you dont want your screen to stay on just - dont use the CAB. I think most users around here are smart enought to know that keeping the screen on during a call takes a battery hit. If they use the CAB as I intend to they are willing to accept this.
