How to disable GPRS permanently? Big annoyance.

I am having a big problem. Whenever I want to go to hotmail account, my touch viva tries to connect to gprs inspite of the fact that I am already using WIFI at home. How can I overcome this issue? I am loosing money also.
Any suggestion will be highly appreciated.

Google it. You will find several places. I don't remember from where I downloaded. Its free.

For some stupid reason Raphael always prefers data connection even when there is an active wifi

But thanks God the problem is solved by nodata.

I don't why you have to install and use a program to disable GPRS when Windows Mobile does the same thing:
Touch Start > Settings > Connections > Connections > Advanced > Network Selection.
Set both settings to "Office Network".
With this configuration, your Viva never uses GPRS.
Notice: I have the Touch Viva in Italian, maybe the translations above aren't accurate. Sorry for this...

its work partially! sometime my WM 6.0 try use all others profiles like MMS, not only selected

my Hermes has a "communication button"....but diamond doesn't even have that..
i know the title is misleading..but what i wanted to know is...is there an app that pop up to turn on wifi....when i'm trying to do the following:
>Update weather
>start opera/skyfire/IE
>start any application that requires internet connection
PPC users like me that can't afford any data plan...is there a way to do this pop up...that'll be a crazy app..IMO

+1. Just a question box saying "Do you want to run on wifi? Yes No" . Kinda annoying to have to go into commanager everytime I need Wifi.

1 vote from me too! Very smart and useful.

Not a popup but toggle, just save to start menu, then you don't have to go into comm manager everytime to enable wifi http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=419005

I use AEbutton, and configure it to toggle wifi with a triple click on hang up button ^^

i also had another question is it possible to completlt get rid of data network... because I'm very bothered by it.....
like when i run certain programs it tries to check for update...and its very annoyin with the pop ups and if someone calls u will miss it sometimes.....
i hope u guys understand how frustrating it is

Yeah, had the same problem too. Use DiamondTweak, scroll trough the various options there and you'll find what to disable. I think it's item 6.3 or something.

hahaha, it's kinda easy to set it actually, i've posted the same question here before but no one answering my question, but then i found the way to stop it myself. try if this helps...
Start>Setting>Connection>Connections
you should see there are 2 conections in this page if i am not mistaken, one is from your service provider's internet setting and another 1 is your work network, right?
then, click on the "Advanced" beside "Tasks" and click "Select Networks", choose the "Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using:" from your service provider to "My work Network", done!!!
hopes this helps...

On some roms choosing My work network doesn't work anymore as blocking.
There is an application called Nodata when you can choose what profiles you want to block ( mms, gprs, etc. etc.)

I know it might sound a bit stupid question, but is there any way of disabling the internet connection on topaz?

With bit of a search HD tweaks did the job for me.

Simple. Just search for "NoData" here in the forum.
It does the job great!

hey bro.
if i understand correctly what you want to do, the easiest way I found was to just create a blank profile on how your device connects to the network.
That will take you no longer than a minute.
1. Go to Settings (or hit All Settings if when you're in TF3D), and under the Connections tab, go to Connections.
2. In connections, go to the Advanced tab, and hit Select Networks.
3. The first drop down box is where you want to create the new blank profile.
4. Go ahead and hit New.., give it a name (I named mine blank, doesn't matter what you name it), and hit ok.
5. It should already be selected in the drop down box, but double-check to make sure.
6. You're done .

Hi Alain,
Going out on a limb here, but are you in Canada and French is your native language?
If so, I presume you have a Rogers or Bell Tab that didn't come with voice functionality out of the box?
If that is the case, you should read the thread here. Note, if you have a CDMA Tab, don't do this!!!
If this isn't the case, you need to be a bit more specific about where you are, what carrier you are using, and the "type" of your Tab.

If you are on Rogers, you will have a GSM Tab capable of bring flashed to a ROM and radio combination that will allow voice, though obviously you will need a SIM with a voice plan.
The link I posted should be all you need to do this.

Now everything is done, all you need to input is APN, which means settings for your 3G connection to work Check under "Wireless and network" > "Mobile networks" > "Access Point Names" > Are there any settings in here? If there aren't you will need to search for "Roger 3G APN" or go here for settings, report back here on your progress.
