Bargain: Athena docking station (genuine HTC) [DE/AT/CH] - Advantage X7500, MDA Ameo Accessories

Today my genuine HTC Advantage Docking Station CR B140 arrived. I bought it from a german dealer and it was a steal for only 22.99€ (+4.99€ S/H), compared to the MSRP of 99.99€ that Expansys demands ($99.99 in the U.S.)
What was strange, though, the station arrived in a simple bubble wrap, no other packaging, no manual, nothing else. OK, for 77% off I really don't care, maybe these are some surplus or end-of-line clearance parts. In any case, the station is brandnew, completely unused and working. So if you would like to steal one, too, have a go at:

Sorry, their website mentions only Germany, Austria and Switzerland as destinations. However, they accept Paypal, and maybe they will ship worldwide, if you ask kindly.
Disclaimer: except for being a customer, I am not connected to phonetec24 in any other way!

Yes guys sorry for not posting it. I have already mailed them and asked them if they can post the station to greece and their response was negative. very disapointing.

I'm planning to buy one for my advantage
I'm interested in the "2 x female usb port". Can it support USB flash drives? Coz I really need to find a way to connect USB flash drives to my phone. And another thing, does the dock have to be connected to the power outlet all the time? or is it recheargable? thanks

Hello ,
Is possible with the X7500 on the cradle to connect the audio line out ?
I see a lot of connections (AV , usb , VGA) but no audio line out ?
Because if you connect to a videoprojector via the cradle , how do you connect the audio output ?
Thanks ,
JF

@Jeff72fr:
The docking station offers the following connections:
- A/V interface: VGA port (15pin), video out port, S-video port (4 Pin), 3.5mm audio jack
- Charging & syncing interface: miniUSB port for power charging and synchronisation, 2 x USB standard A female ports (USB host), 2nd battery charging slot
- LED indicators: power, sync, 2nd batt charging
@santi_g:
I must admit, I haven't used any usb devices yet on my athena, I don't even know how to use them ;-) Simply plugging in some usb stick does not work for me, the stick's light stays off, and file explorer doesn't show it. I probably need some driver for it.
You probably overrate the function of a docking station, it's just a simple box offering easier access to the connectors, and a convenient place to charge the device. So not having the docking station plugged in is of no big use, and therefore there is nothing to recharge the docking station -- only the device's batteries (internal and spare).

I have used up to 16G Flash Drive using my ebay acquired docking station. Though it comes out only if I use resco file explorer. There was even a time when I used my flash drive with a usb mouse through an octopus usb port.

Thanks a lot for your your reply.
I use my X7500 at home to listen to internet radios. It easier to have the docking station connected to my Hifi system.I just have to plug in the X7500 on the craddle without always connect and disconnect the electricity plug and the audio line.
Unfortunately I'm french so they can't send it to me.
I have a friend who's working in switzerland and and will try with him.

I googled and found this: http://www.mytrendyphone.com/shop/htc-cr-b140-docking-14003p.html&togglevat=1&VariantIdSelected=0
They seem to ship everywhere and have reasonable pricing as well.

does anyone had a chance to buy this dock and figure out whether it is original, i.e identical as compared to what HTC offers or not

I have one like that
I have one and it is exactly the same as posted before.
It works really well But it is a little tricky to place the Athena in it. I'll get used to it.

reason I am asking is that is going to be my next buy ..... therefore knowing whether it is (looking and working like) oryginal is crucial as there are many different ameo docks with partial funcionality (as compared to the original one) available
the thing is I have been querying about dock from that german location / shop

I bought an original HTC docking station for my X7510 at expansys without any problem : it is 30€ right now !

Thank you for that link! I just ordered from them, unfortunately they don't ship to ALL countries, so I had it sent to relatives in the States who are visiting soon, but the price, including shipping, was less than GBP25. Definitely less than the $80 most places are asking.
And of course the usual disclaimers: I don't work for them etc.,.

T-Mobile Wing: Sync, Power, Audio Cable

I received a Wing from T-Mobile yesterday and the device shipped with standard USB Mini connector (for sync/power) (rectangle with flared bottom) and a wall charger with the same typical mini USB connector. However, the connector on the phone is a similar rectangle shape, but has one diagonal corner, otherwise a perfect rectangle (while also some sort of mini USB connector, this connector is capable of handling audio in addition to sync and power...) It is the same jack that the headphones/mic fit into
In order to make this work, HTC packaged a small 1x1 node with a pigtail to convert the traditional flared mini USB connector to the new format connector.
Does anyone know where such a part might be able to be purchased? Or what the "name" of the connector is that I am describing? T-Mobile and HTC have both been rather useless and arrogant about the subject.
Thanks,

http://www.hot-wire-telekom.de/index.php?aktion=detail&suche=HTC TyTN&asuche=HW132233
Don´t know exactly what you mean? I´m using several USB cables and they all work.
If you want an adapter to use two usb (charge AND headset) HTC himselfe has one. And if you want an usb --> 2,5mm there are several on ebay.
FYI ... the new HTC USB connector is actually a standard Mini-USB with extra pins for analog audio. If you were to take your standard USB cable and plus it into the phone, it should work. The only thing you need the adapter for is to use the headset, which is unfortunate. All the adapter does is split off the USB signal from the audio signal.
At least, this is how I understand it. My Wing won't be here until Tuesday.
In the USA, the Wing ships with a 2-way splitter. One plug is for USB POWER, and the other for headset. Err... I don't know which, if either, DATA would go over, it's mainly intended for use in the car when you want to have it plugged in but use the headset also!
I need to order a smaller audio-converter... something that can go inline with my headphones without looking/feeling/being stupid-big.

I ordered a converted from usb to 2.5mm from igonemobile for use on my Dash and my Wing. It's about 4 inches long, not too big in my opinion.
So far so good. 10 bucks, shipping included.

Fast Charge, Charging Pinout Questions

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere; I couldn't find anything.
I'm looking into getting some spare chargers for my Tilt. I read at Pocket PC Techs that the device has a distinct "fast charge" mode, that uses a special pinout. Is this true?
If so, does the charger that comes with the Tilt use this fast charge mode? It seems to be just a standard mini-USB charger (data sheet here).
The link to Pocket PC Techs is actually to an adapter that they sell that is suppose to give you a fast charge with any USB charger. I'm wondering under what circumstances I'd have to use this.
Anyone know what the fast charge pinout is, and which third-party chargers use it?
Thanks.
ISTR reading something about pins 4 & 5 being tied together on some chargers -- should be very easy to test this.
I have not tested this but I suspect the pin out is the same as the Hermes:
http://www.tracyandmatt.co.uk/blogs/index.php/2006/09/10/htc_hermes_usb_connector_pin_config
The USB charging is done with different connections and at a different mA rating. The mains charger is 1000mA and is what I would call the normal charging system (but what the site you show, refers to as fast charge - but only by comparison to USB charging) This is just about standard for many sync/charge PDAs and not a special feature of the Kaiser.

I do notice a huge difference in speed comparing my old razor usb power adapter vs usb cable into my computer vs tilt power adapater so it prolly makes sense

Yep, the Razor adapter only delivers 500mA not 1000mA
Mike
Plus the razor charger does not have the pins 4-5 shorted, this is a HTC tweak that lets the phone know that it's on a charger vs std. USB power and it may in fact charge at a higher rate upon detecting this. I just know that my Hermes occasionally did strange things like turn off BT radio and other odd things when connecting/disconnecting from different chargers. Kaiser seems better at this.
For a couple of weeks now, I have been charging my Kaiser at work by using the adapter that came with my Audiovox SMT5600. It's been working fine. I cannot however determine if this charges any faster or slower than the Kaiser's adapter.
Slow Charging
So that would explain when I use GPS in the car with my old RAZR charger why the battery still drains. Darn, looks like I'll have to buy a new car charger.
USB Charging
are there any issues iwth battery drain or lif when charging with the USB cable connected to a computer?
Thanks,
g
Is there a specific USB charger.

I wouldn't think it would need to be tested. As per this page:
HTC has developed a range of accessories that are compatible across all HTC devices for consumer's ease of use. These include the BH M200 (Bluetooth headset), HS U110 (3.5 mm audio adapter and headset), and the HS S200 (HTC standard stereo wired headset) to enable effective communications on the move.

If the audio adapter and hard wired headset are compatible across all HTC devices (per HTC themselves), then that confirms that the pinout of the audio side is the same. And it's been mentioned earlier that the data side follows the mini-usb standard, which I can confirm: I'm using the usb cable from my camera to connect my Kaiser to my PC at home, while I use the supplied cable to connect it to my work PC.

I am experiencing a similar issue with an USB/car adapter and the USB cable that came with the Tilt.
Ran Google Maps yesterday with GPS on and when I got home my phone was almost empty. It was charging the whole time in the car though.
Does this mean I should look for another USB cable that is shorting those pins?
What about these adapters that plug into the phone and allow you to connect a USB cable for charging and a 3.5mm audio plug?

Mmm, that is a unique piece!! But the cable seems somewhat short.
I think at the end..I am going to combine following pieces to make the final connection to my old handsfree carkit.. (I hate soldering)

Any problems with me using my old Razr car charger on my Kaiser? Typically I charge mine every night with the standard charger but in case of emergency I'd like to use my Razr car charger
Thanks
In answer to the original question, yes, pins 4 & 5 are shorted on the OEM charger that ships with the Tilts, thus enabling it to fast-charge the phone at currents greater than 500ma.
Hopefully this helps,

Ipod to micro usb

Hello,
I'm new and have read a lot about de HD2 witch i have.
Just normal rom with some extra programs.
I'm looking (maybe manny other people) for a female ipod adapter to (micro/mini) usb. There are a lot of (music)docking stations for the ipod but nothing with a micro usb connection. so with a adapter from a female ipod too a micro.mini usb we have tons of interesting accesories.
I hope sombody can help me and others.
sorry for my bad english.
Wesley
Useless. All you could do is charge the phone and connect to a PC with USB cable. No sound, no video, no extra functions as those use extra connections and proprietary protocols that only the iphone has.
pretty much agree with kilrah, even if in theory some accessories geared towards just the audio could benefit from a ipod->microusb+jack solution, even if that would be ugly
Reality is, ipod/iphone specific accessories are 90% for "happy people" (read carefully through the words), and a hd2 user true to himself doesn't want those
i agree with you ephestione...
if the HD2 had all the endlessly possible amount of accesories like the iphone, i wouldn't want a HD2.
i like the exclusivity(?) of my HD2, i like that some people find the sheer size of the HD2 offensive, i like the looks on their faces when i show them how much better it is than an iphone.
with accesories comes more customers looking for the latest fad, i dont want that. if i want an accesory, i'll make it myself
i cannot tear myself away from this forum no matter how hard i try
for audio i just use a simple 3.5mm jack to 2 phono, plugged into my hi-fi...
bluetooth and windows sideshow when im showing off
So you guys wouldn't want a Bose sound dock?
We could just use a phono lead as quasi_mojo said and hook it up to a bose hi-fi
both my hd2 and my bluetooth headset use the same micro usb, so i only need one wall charger and one car charger...
i use bluetooth to play audio through my car headunit, a jack to phono cable for playing on my home hifi, bluetooth again with sideshow or g-remote to control my media pc's...
i dont really see the need for another cable based on what the hd2 is capable of...wireless options are always going to be better
what excatly did you have in mind when you started this thread?
and no i wouldnt want a bose sound dock, mainly because of the ridiculous price and also due to the national grid already struggling to provide my house with enough juice to power the gear i have already lol

[Q] To everyone in possession of the original HTC CU-S400 carkit

I've got a question for everyone who has the CU-S400 carkit or the CC-C200 car charger...
Does the CC-C200 charger (which is also supplied within the CU-S400) activate NaviPanel?
Or will this only happen with the car holder?
I just like to know, because why should I buy another CU-S400 for in my second car, when I could use my universal holder + the CC-C200 (it saves me some $$ for my speeding tickets )
I hope someone can help me out

The actutal car kit activates the Navi Panel, not the charger. If you look closely at regular micro usb charger tips, on the inside, its like 4 little slots, but on the charger itself, the micro usb that actually connects to the HD2 has 5, which tells the HD2 that it has been docked, therfore launching the NaviPanel.
PS... the long usb cord that comes in the navigation kit is a standard usb cord, nothing special about it at all. The magic is all in the dock's USB.
Hope that helps.

And it's the answer I thought it would be...
Thx for the fast response

Something you might want to consider:
Create a shortcut in Windows\Start Menu\ Programs (so when you tap start it appears in the list) pointing to "NaviPanel" (not NaviPanel.exe") locatend under Windows folder and that way you can launch it when you like... Using an icon changing software you can change the icon of your shortcut...

USB-C hub for Razer Phone 2?

Looking to find a USB hub for my phone. I see a ton of them online, and some of them even kinda say they work with phones. But I know not all of them do. Looking for one that can output HDMI and has at least one USB-A input (two would be nice, but not a deal breaker). I do realize it'll probably require PD input, that's not a problem. [email protected] would be my preference too as a minimum. The goal is to use my phone as a portable gaming device, so I'm hoping to have low input lag for the wired controller.
My hope is somebody has found a decent one that they've tried with this phone and works. Would also accept testimony from people who have tried it on the V30, or any other flagship USB-C Android phone that isn't Samsung (they use DeX, I need no feedback on that).
So... Anybody got any personal experience to share on this topic? Realize it's kind of a tall order, but I'm hoping somebody has found one that works and is reasonably priced.
I too would like to know this if anyone has some info on it. At the moment i have tried 2 different docks, the Alogic USB-C Dock Plus which is just plain **** to say the least, if you connect the charger and HDMI it will eventually crash the systemui freezing you completely. The other dock i have tried is a Satechi Slim Multi_Port Adapter which works to HDMI but does'nt charge the device at all even though it has a charger slot for it & chargers my other phones fine plugged in via the same cable.
MS Display Dock
I have used a Microsoft Display Dock, has 2 USB A-Ports, HDMI, DisplayPort, & charges simultaneously. The Razer Phone work fine with it (TESTED), but honestly the phone seems to be capable of being compatible with any Hub save the ones for the Nintendo Switch. Being that the Microsoft Display Dock is discontinued & old, you can probably find good bargains from 30$ or more. While it is name brand and, from personal experience, its a well built piece of tech, you might want to consider how you plan to listen to your device, and think about adapters with Aux-out if you plan to used wired headphones.
I was goofing around at work and we have these USB c travel adapters that have a USB, HDMI, Ethernet, and vga out, but can't charge at the came time. Upon further goofing around I plugged in Dell WD15 dock, bingo, full output on everything. Comes with a charger so it charges, Ethernet, display port, vga, USB ports. They run about 130 on Amazon right now. Plugged in our projector to it, then some external speakers, Bluetooth my gamepad to it. Loaded my some emulators and I was playing Mario kart while taking some support calls.
