(Sorry for my english i'm from latinamerica)
don`t worry for your answer I understand very well english language.

t-mobile will unlock it for free.

how I do that?
how T-Mobile can unlock my phone? cuz when I buy the phone don't have any sim card so I don`t know which is the operator. when I turn on the pda the screen show me a question about a code... I DON`T KNOW WHAT IT IS.
I try with 1234 and 12345678 and NOTHING is locked again and I have to wait a several minutes for try again and that sucks!!!!

dood
Your best bet if T-Mo won't cough up an unlock code, you may have to check out a service for it. There's plenty of places that can unlock ur fone for a price... it's definitely worth it. Just search around

Just call up T-Mo and tell them you are traveling overseas and need to unlock your phone. They'll give you some sort of code you type in.

Correct me if I¡m wrong. You are from Latin America, so you bought your Wing on Ebay or something alike. If that's correct and as T-Mo does not have service in LAmerica, there's no chance to request them the unlock code because the phone is no longer binded to a T-Mo account. It's kind of odd it was not originally unlocked (I got mine through Ebay and I'm LAmerican too). At this point mi advice would be to take it to a tech shop and have it unlocked. It won't be expensive and once unlocked works really great!!

Hehe, I guess I just had a sales chimp try n sell me. When I called in to get my code. The broad would ask me the question all the time "why don't you want to be in our network" or "want to start an account?" Eventually I had to get crunk with her and say "because I don't want to... 1st amendment " She then asked if I had a t-mobile SIM card in the phone and I told her "no" coz i didn't. She then proceeded to tell me "you have to be a customer with us for 6 months before we can give you an unlock code"
Perhaps I should have been a little more persistent but oh well. I may have had to pay 10 bucks but I got what I wanted in the end hehe

In my case... I no longer have t-mobile service, and haven't had it for a good 6 months or so. My current phone (samsung eternity) has a mic that is going lame that they won't cover - and I always liked my old Wing better anyway. I got excited when I pulled it out and downloaded a new rom for it- and with my new data plan I could actually use IM! Unfortunately I discovered that the phone is not unlocked, contrary to what they told me when I bought it off of ebay...
It's ridiculous that I'd have to pay money to use a piece of hardware that I already own. Why are carriers even allowed to sim-lock phones in the first place? Isn't locking the Average Joe into a 2-year contract enough?
But I digress. After reading all these threads with frustrated regulars and whiny newbies, I guess it's either pay to unlock or get myself a new phone, eh..

Thats why i dont buy phones off of Ebay and really does it hurt that much to pay some extra $ to sim unlock ur phone? anyways sim-lokcing the phones was so that other carriers wouldnt use that device but now...pretty much all carriers have the same hTC device but to there own customized verisons of that certain device

Simple sim unlock question.

Hey everyone,
I've been searching on here and somehow I'm not finding ANY helpful info on how to unlock a G1 to work on AT&T. I want to buy one of craigslist and it seems most people aren't able to get customer service to unlock it for me.
Is there any way to unlock it, even if i need to flash the ADP1 firmware or something?
I really thought there would be a sticky for this, but so far all I've found is paid services.
I can borrow a friend's T-Mobile sim if i need one temporarily to access anything for the unlocking.
Thanks!
-Taylor
P.S. I'm hoping to buy one today, so the sooner someone answers my question the sooner i can get in on this new android love!
I believe as of now you have only one choice - buy unlock code on eBay or some other online shops.
get the phone and have a friend that has t-mo say that they are going out of the country and they need the unlock code for their phone. t-mo will ask for the IMEI and you give them that and they will email you an unlock code. but i am pretty sure that you will be stuck with edge network on at&t. not that i have any choice as t-mo STILL doesn't have 3G in stl
Hey, thanks for the help. I only have one friend with Tmobile and she probably could have helped me, but i was hoping there was a more guaranteed way, in case that didn't work. So flashing the ADP1 firmware and bootloader doesn't do it? I assume that the right people have looked at this and all that?
Well it would be cool if we could crack that, but lucky for me i finally found someone with an unlocked g1 at a great price - $250 for a barely used one with accessories and box, still with the original plastic on the screen, it's basically brand new! I was going to buy one that had been used for a few months, just had a charger, and was locked for the same price! I actually thought it might have been stolen till i met the kid, he was driving a brand new car and only looked to be about 18, so basically he was just rich and didn't care too much if he got the most he could get, heh.
So yeah, I have a G1 now and it's unlocked and works great. I of course don't get 3G on ATT but i had an old iphone before that didn't have 3G, so i'm at least not worse of. And somehow the G1 downloads pages much faster than the 2G iphone, interestingly enough, so I'm pretty happy.
Thanks for your help guys. is there a way we could maybe sticky this or something, maybe make a new post that is the official sim unlock thread and sticky that? I never found a place that specifically said you couldn't unlock it, except for a few posts from before the phone was even out with people speculating, so it was pretty tough for me to find out. Sure, i didn't find anything that said you COULD unlock it easily, but i didn't find a lot the other way either and i wasn't sure if I was just missing something.
Thanks,
-Taylor
I used this one to unlock my g1

within 20 min, I received my unlock codes. And it really worked
as t-mobile asked me 125 Euros for unlocking (the Netherlands)

[TUT] The easiest and truly free way to SIM Unlock your AT&T HTC HD7S bought up front

[TUT] The easiest and truly free way to SIM Unlock your AT&T HTC HD7S bought up front
If you bought your HTC HD7S branded by AT&T like me from Fry's and paid 99 USD for it because you didn't want a stinking AT&T plan with their high prices, you can just CALL AT&T at 1 800 331 0500 and if you speak English (which I think you do since you're reading this, I don't know how to do this for Spanish), press 1 after the lady is done talking and then 0 again after she is done talking.
Don't give the answering machine your phone number or anything, just act like you're a total idiot.
An operator will answer and here's what I told them that gave me my SIM Unlock code FOR FREE IN 2 MINUTES OVER THE PHONE WITH AT&T!!!!!! They didn't even ask me for my address or a copy of my receipt or ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!! (just my name and any other phone number in case the call got disconnected or dropped)
"Hi, I bought this phone at Fry's and paid for it up front a total of 99 USD. I'd like to know if I can pay for an unlock code because I know other carriers do that."
The operator will be clueless at first not even knowing whether or not it's possible. He'll then read a bunch of documentation, ask you if you already have a phone number with AT&T which I didn't give him because I didn't even have one (I'm with PTel), and then he'll tell you that this model is actually unlockable and he'll read to you a bunch of pretty useless stuff after which he'll ask for your IMEI, you can give him that and he'll give you the unlock code JUST LIKE THAT, BAM!!!
Happily SIM Unlocked since 10 minutes ago when I got off the phone with the operator of all people!!!! Who knew they could unlock phones for you?
Silly me, I thought downgrading to a custom ROM would SIM Unlock my phone because everybody keeps using the word Unlock instead of saying JAILBREAK for crying out loud, how are people going to differentiate between the two?
I come from an iPhone background where I always unlocked and jailbroke my family and friend's iDevices and I have to tell you one thing, it's so much harder to deal with a Windows Phone than with an iPhone, I had no idea...
And these forums, they're full of broken links and outdated information and people posting solutions they never tried. I wish there was a thread janitor that would just remove wrong threads......
Anyways, happy unlocking for free!!! No trialpay BTW!!!
Now this might have worked for me just because I bought mine up front, but it might also work for you, I don't know. What does an operator know anyways? And their response time was like 1 second!
You must've just got lucky, I just tried with like 3 different reps all talking about "Oh no, you would need to have an account with us before anyone would even THINK of giving you an unlock code."

PLEASE, Someone find a way to SIM Unlock Sprint version!

Prepare for a soap box, I've hidden this now because as relevant as it is, it's a little over the top.
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD CALL SPRINT AND GET AN DEVICE UNLOCK CODE FROM THEM! It's pretty simple. Ya'll need to quit with all these posts. You're not encouraging anyone to do any work any quicker than they might already be doing it. You are simply being an annoyance. Twenty thousand posts about the same thing is getting really old. Buy a phone that works with your SIM card, buy a device already SIM unlocked, or wait until someone figures out a way!
STOP ASKING A MILLION TIMES OVER FOR THE SAME THING!!
This post is not just against you but EVERYONE begging over and over again about the same thing. The same thing goes for those with 64 bit devices who beg for a 64 bit recovery.
....
Ok sherlock, Already called sprint before i made this post. You know what was their answer? "WE CANT UNLOCK IT, SORRY SIR". Yes, very dissapointing, I know. She told me "you can only use the wifi". Like, if she would answer me - Get lost.
And btw, I already have a phone, A OnePlus One I just bought these 2 sprint phones from amazon for super cheap - 30$ each. I've been planning using them as a backup / Give one for my sister's boyfriend. So, just saying again, I hope someone can do it and unlock it..
Go after Sprint
Seems to me that we are growing frustrated at the wrong people...
Obama signed into law a few months back that requires the phones to be "Unlockable" by the end user. I do know, a lot of the carriers have voluntarily put in promise to comply in the future, in regards to selling Unlockable phones. But, I just see it as lip service and does not help us Now.
Someone or a group of people need to take this up with the FCC or Justice Department...
But at the very least file a class action lawsuit on two fronts... I personally am miffed about this same phone being marketed as a 4 Gig of internal memory, when in fact it really has about 1.5 Gigs or less of available memory. And, this whole SIM/Locked, S-On, Bootloader Locked nonsense.

Well Watson, if Sprint wont help you, instead of creating such a useless thread--that helps nobody and gets you no answers--how about you utilize the search function and notice that nobody has currently found a way to sim unlock (save Virgin Mobile apparently). You'll also notice how many useless posts there are about this same thing. So "for the love of god", either figure it out yourself or sit patiently. You posting about this issue, really a non-issue, is not going to get it solved any faster. You are simply being an annoyance just like every other user incessantly posting about the same thing. I'm sorry if this seems mean or whatever but that post wasn't necessarily directed at you but all the damn posts about this non-issue. And honestly this is something you should have researched and considered before you bought the phone.
Sorry, I'm off the soap box.
Also, try calling Sprint International Customer Service at 1-888-226-7212 and tell them you are going to be traveling abroad to whatever country you want and tell them you want to use a local sim card while you're there. I can't tell you that they'll definitely do it because on the website it says that prepaid phones are not eligible to be unlocked, however, there are multitude of places on the internet (some respected, others not so much) that you can go to and get your MSL code. Also, this is the bill @flash4yish was talking about which you might bring up in conversation with Sprint, H.R.1123 - Unlocking Consumer Choice and Wireless Competition Act
Regardless, just chill, people are in fact working on it as it's a hot topic in the forums so it's really just a matter of time.

Robbed by unlocking service, Supposed

so I've been robbed twice by this service I will no longer use the service I'm trying to get my money back. I've been in contact with these people, he asked me if I got my money back like come on now you would know if you issued me a refund or now they've been playing games with me they told me to install this app some kind of unlocking app and it was a lie it was all a lie but they took my money and now they're refusing to give it back anyone who's experienced this please get back to me I'm interested in trying to see if we can go after them because I'm not the first person they've done this to. no matter where you're from you do business here in America or using American policies you have to buy by the law that's just what it is you're selling a dummy service and that's not right. every time I enter my email to track my order it says server is busy but I know that was a fake set up as well because when I press enter it said the same thing so that's a lie. We need to act as one XDA is an important community and it's members are what makes it thrive. You're not sure about the service don't pump them because you're helping them with the LIE
Just curious, wouldn't contacting your carrier have been a better and a secure choice? I know tmobile unlocked a couple of phones for me after a certain period of time. Also, this website is built so poorly that it screams scam.
I chatted with the guys 1 Minute ago.
That smells like scam x1000 !
Iam using Note 9 Exynos (Europe, Germany,DBT) and we in germany dont have Sim or Netlock anymore.
I asked the Chatguy if they unlock Exynos Note 9 with DBT-"Branding"(Its no branding, it means : FREE) too, and he thold me : "Yes !"....
Totally scam. Realy, you have Netlock in the US ? And do you guys have Simlock too ?
And what if you flash via Odin a brandingfree rom ? Does it unlock the phone ?
Sorry this happened I used CellUnlocker once and they are great. Know it doesnt help your situation but for future reference.

I don't think it's a US company that is providing false unlocking services, they've been in contact with me and some of their messages were in Russian. Maybe to throw me off but I believe it's a shell company of some sorts

You didn't specify your device in your original post. So, I'd assumed that you had a carrier that provides that service like we do here in the US. My apologies if I gave a "Mr know it all" impression, non of that was my intention.
Carriers here in the US do unlock your phone after you've had it for a certain amount of time. My advice to you for next time is to start a thread here asking people to post their best and most trusted unlocking websites that they have actually used before, before going on your own to some random websites that you don't know much about.
We are always here to help, buddy. Sorry about what happened to you and I hope it wasn't a big chunk of money they've scammed you on.
If you unlock your phone and it is not paid off( you dont own it) and you unlock it through a third party. Then you stop paying the bill for the device then your carrier will black list the phone. You wont be able to use it with prepaid services or other carriers. Once you put a different sim in the device even though its unlocked. The phone will start Burning your sim cards so they dont work anymore. Only thing you can do is have an imei "repair" done. Or just change the csc code to a different country and just never use the original carrier which is easier.
I also totally agree with K-alz. This site does not look reputable at all. Take for instance all their claims like "Official service Even Samsung employees use our service to unlock their phones". Or even the fact you can enter anything you want into their text fields for your phone. Hell, at least the IMEI field should only accept numbers. Looks like a total scam...
On a side note, I had some fun with them:
IMEI: YOU GUYS ARE F****** JOKES
Samsung Model: WHO NEED TO
Carrier: STOP RIPPING OFF PEOPLE. YOU ARE BEING REPORTED TO THE PROPER AUTHORITIES. BYE BYE
I do hope you can get your money back, but I would definitely not trust these kind of sites in the future.
Edit: I doubt it will go anywhere, but I just called Samsung to let them know of this specific site using Samsung's logos, and making fraudulent claims. Gave the URL, and the guy I talked to stated he would bring it to his supervisor/manager.
I'm sorry you have had your money stolen from you by a fake service, but I do have to add that this is such a painfully obvious scam, the site just screams fake, throwing money at services you're unsure of or that aren't reputable is never a good idea, stick to proper authorised services in the future, hopefully this is a lesson to others considering doing the same thing, good luck with getting your money back
Not good.

Carrier Locked? Sim Locked? UICC Locked? What state is my phone in?

I bought an SM-N960U used off of letgo about a month ago now and I have been trying to get it to work for me but I am still having a few issues.
The guy I bought it from, who himself bought it used, was using it on T-Mobile and I am able to make and receive calls okay and get internet okay with Verizon. The phone was originally a Sprint phone. It continuously gave me "Activation was Unsuccessful" fullscreen messages repeatedly until I used adb to disable com.sec.omadmspr and com.sprint.ms.smf.services.
When swapping SIMS from different carriers the phone DOES NOT ask for an UNLOCK code.
When I first got the phone I tried to call Sprint and ask if the phone was Carrier locked thinking that if there was a small amount owed or something perhaps I could pay it and UN-Carrier Lock the phone... Well, that didn't go well. Since I wasn't on the account and couldn't provide the name or phone number of the old owner they wouldn't tell me if there was OR wasn't a carrier lock on the phone. Eventually I got them to take the IMEI but they still told me nothing.
So, I've been using the phone daily for about a month now, but because of it's problems (the app that won't run) I still have to carry my old phone as well. This phone is always on Roam. One time when trying to fix it I dialed the *228 PRL update number. That was a mistake. It broke my internet to the point where NO ONE was able to fix it. I went to a Verizon stone. No help. I called customer service. No help. They transferred me to Tech Support.... finally they had me swap in one of my older SIM cards and they programmed that one to work.
TLDR; The phone works with VZW voice and data, but is always on roaming, some apps refuse to work properly, under UICC Unlock the phone says it is locked to Sprint Sims and sometimes the data connection drops and it says it doesn't work because of "Data Roaming" being disabled.
What version of locked is my phone? Is it safe to start flashing it?

you probably has nothing to do with your problem but it may be of some help if you contact the guy mentioned in this thread for the LG V20, it's a guy that works for sprint and you can contact him on the Sprint Users forums ..
He may be able to help you with the sim unlocking of your phone, there's nothing to lose I think!

You need to contact the person who sold you the device and ask them for assistance. As they may need to contact Sprint to activate the device and unlock it for you.

They don't want to make it easy for people to re-purpose stolen phones. There are things a legitimate owner can do in order to make a phone ready for re-sale, and it sounds like these things didn't happen for the phone you bought. It all sounds a bit fishy, doesn't it?

Thanks, but if I thought "it sounds a bit fishy" I probably wouldn't have bought the used phone in the first place... and I certainly wouldn't have called Sprint and given them the IMEI and asked them; the people that could render my phone a useless brick, with one tiny bit of information, for help. Each smart phone I've bought in the last few years has been used because frankly to me it seems to be the best way to buy them financially. $1000 the day they come out or $200 - $300 6 - 12 months later used.

Point is, when someone is about to buy a used phone from a stranger, make sure it is factory reset and then immediately call the carrier and confirm the IMEI is clean and that it has been carrier unlocked, else, don't buy it. Obviously it's not advice for you, since you already did it the wrong way. This is a good lesson for posterity.
