Blue Snow on HTC Touch (Viva's) Camera ! - Touch Viva, MDA Basic General

Hi all thought I would share this information... I saw posts on other HTC brand sections regarding the camera view being hazy, green-blue dots or blue snow-like...
I personally had this problem, and it turned out to be due to "overclocking" of the cpu, (in my case with Pocket hack master), so if any of you experiencing the same, try to adjust hack master so that it makes the cpu go the highest speed, but when opening "Windows\camera.exe" decrease the speed to the damn 201 Mhz (lol believe me theres no difference in quality).

hehehe thank you so much for that

cool one to install

Thanks Khortoom for the info!
One question though, how does it works the viva overcloked? is there any noticeable improvement in the performance? Stability?

graphics better...so what..?

hi all,
I read the review of the kaiser and wondered whether the better graphics really make a difference.
Can anyone explain the difference to me?
Thanks
Sam.
The difference is that they will be better (!)
So for instance, if you have a Hermes you'll almost certainly have experienced slowdown while watching videos or playing games which will (hopefully) be a thing of the past with the Kaiser.
Even if it still isn't perfect (and what is?) it should at least be a significant improvement...

well hey take a look at these benchmark results.
it shows HUGE improvement. 6 times better graphics. that includes gaming and video.
http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=256117&st=20
the graphics improvements only help if the app was written with the qualcomm gpu in mind...all the older apps run slow gfx wise unless they use GDI
I really don't watch much video, but I HATE my Hermes taking FOREVER to switch from portrait to landscape (and back, especially when I miss calls because my pouch magnet makes it switch, then it has to switch back, and then load the phone app, then the call is gone!!). Watching the online video review the switching seemed faster, but far from instananeous.

well im happy to quote from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1394910&posted=1#post1394910
that it takes only .5 seconds for the keyboard screen rotation.
i will know if the graphics are better.
I put my text in the smallest view it has,
and when its changed to landscape mode,
we will see if the graphics are better,
and not that it really matters to me.
As far as I have looked on benchmarks, the Qualcomm CPU @ 400MHz is some 10-20% better than a Samsung @400 MHz (TyTN), Which in turn is arond 20% better than a Xscale 270 @ 400MHz... That means that the Qualcomm can be considered to have performace close to 600MHz of a XScale CPU... At least as far as the benchmarks available from several sources tell us. Now, if it really has that 128MB of RAM, then it will be really really interesting, and the first thing XDA folks would do, of course, would be to pump up the page pool to try to eke out a little bit of extra performance...

you sure its only 10-20%? i mean they were saying it's 6 times better than the 8525's graphical index.
Performance comparison to 8525
I was wondering if anyone knew if the OS played a part in the 8525 vs 8925 comparison at http://www.modaco.com/HTC-Kaiser-hands-review-t256117.html&st=20?
Could be a factor for some of the performance boost?
I am interested in the extra memory and the built in GPS. (I hope the battery will last with all the bells and whistles!)

hey i started that thread on modaco!
yes the OS plays a small part in performance boost, wm6 is generally faster than wm5, but the main thing is the Qualcomm chip boosting the peformance.

Blackstone at 624Mhz!!!!!

Wonderful! I have the ROM Lucapicci 1.8.1 and it works very well!
http://rapidshare.com/files/224152407/Performance.exe
I think that software can be dangerous to our HD´s, have you used it during a long time? any crash?
I'm using it from 2 days without problems!
Can you at least post some more info or some screenshots.
Never know, this may just be a virus
However I have no responsibilities. Is your risk!
Good work!
How about battery usage and warming?
overclocking about 20% for such a small device, i think is not very good.
2 days no problem i think is because u havn't used maximal of the clock, if you do that constantly, i think your touch HD might start crashing (more often, it crashs quiet often already ))
Hmm I´m a big fan of every overclocking (my home pc processor is a core 2 quad that normaly has 2.4GHz and it´s working on 4.1GHz without any problems).
Now my question is where can I see that the cpu of the touch hd really runs on 624MHz? And can someone post some benchmark tests comparing to the normal speed of 520MHz please???
I did not benchmark but it is obvious when you open applications or windows folder of HD simply.
it's a fake ... isn't the first post a the subject
Im sure that its fake! it doesnt work on qualcomms cpu.. make some benchs (coreplayer, sktools) then u ll see that there´s no difference btw 528 and 624mhz...
bye
Fake
Just instaled, Bench and the results
CPU Performance: Float : 713
CPU Performance: Integer : 8216
versus std
CPU Performance: Float : 785
CPU Performance: Integer : 8220
These are pure CPU. No bottle necks. Should see approx 20% improvement
eg
900 and 9850
Its a fake
i wouldnt overclock my 900 dollar hd anyways. i used to overclock my palm tungsten devices and a couple of my treos that used pxa procs and it shortend their life considerably. i would take them from the stock 200 and 312 to 312 and 400 respectively. it did improver performance for certain things like viewing pics and watching video but i have no performance issues with the HD
Its definately not working.
I made some benchmarks!
Nothing changes, shame! Perhaps it is definitely a fake! But he's nice!
I'm sorry!
This is the standard HTC Performance application that hasn't worked for years, from before the Vogue. Doesn't support the new Qualcomm processors.
How about this?
I don't think this is fake but who is willing to fry their HD?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=507301&highlight=clockspeed
I don't understand one thing. First of all, whether if the poster is posting something real or not, I will for sure not trying to OC my device. I luv my device in anyway, and I've no complaint with the speed, even if I do, I would blame on the operating system and the software, not the hardware.
I wouldn't putting stress to my HD if I were you guys. OC nature is like this, "if you take something, you must give away something too"! What is wrong with the HD that needed to be oc??????

I think you don't understand the overclockers . Some guys are keen on getting the maximum out of their devices, its not really rational at all, but its good to know whether something like this is possible, or not.
its a choose I would not risk it , its not a PC only a mobile phone, the speed on HD currently we have is far better than shorten it life by putting overload clock speed, Kill your HD if you like

Taking advantage of Blackstone code?

Hi all,
Since the X1 hardware is so similar to Blackstone, is it possible to use what the Blackstone guys are doing to improve performance on the X1?
What I am most interested in is this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442712
BETA graphics drivers for improving OpenGL speed. There is also a benchmark thread in the Blackstone forums, do the same benchies work with X1? Could be useful to have a reference for which ROMs are actually fastest.
Just some thoughts, hope for a response from a guru!
-Oobly
So I was reading that thread...
Theres a faq there:
"..
Q: Are these solely for MSM720X devices?
A: Yes, since the files used only work with the MSM720X chipset. And not even ALL MSM720X chipsets.
Q: So, which devices are supported?
A: Currently only newer devices: the Kaiser, Polaris, Nike, Diamond and up. There MAY be more in the future though.
.."
here is my take on all this:
-the neo2007 work on xperia but i cant see any performance increase
-the xperia is running @400mhz not 528mhz like the HD or td2. so dont ever expect it to reach the same level of performance. i have tested many cooked roms on xperia and they all trail the HD or TD2 stock roms in application and multitasking performance

on the other hand, i (which are currently running Touch X 6.1 with various performance tweaks) find that the custom ROM that i'm currently using are faster and have better responce compared to a TD2 running on stock ROM that i've tested for 30 minutes in a store.
if that extra Mhz really matters, then it could always be unlocked using neurom. i did also tried neurom only to find that it decreases my battery life.
so i'm sticking with 400 mhz that lasts me 3-4 days than a 2 days 528mhz.
and no, i'm not biased just because i'm using an x1.

i tried using neurom but i could not overclock it to 528. if you can please let us now how. to test if it worked test with something like the core player or tcmp (both have benchmarking tools) and the game xtract.
both apps will give you real world performance and both perform clearly worse on my xperia then on td2
ohh and %20 less cpu speed will not double the battery life. the x1 has a nice big 1500mah battery
Thanks for the replies guys!
I always thought the xperia runs a 7200A processor at 528MHz...?? That's what all the spec sheets say at least.
About speed and battery life, increasing the CPU speed by 20% can certainly double power usage especially if it is an overclock. Both power usage and heat generated increase dramatically when overclocking CPU's in PC's and I don't expect it is any different with mobile CPU's.
I am disappointed by the benchmark results I see for xperia, but I really love the hardware layout and size. According to the specifications it should run faster than it seems to....
Any definitive answers about CPU clock speed? Anyone? From what I have read, the 7200 CPU runs at 400 and the 7200A at 528. The X1 has a 7200A and all the spec sheets I have seen and "official" specs say 528MHz.
Have we been screwed again by HTC? <--- referring to the 3D driver issue....

[Q] Fully Stock 4.2.2 HTC One gameplay lag!

Hi guys, I'm new to the forums. Sorry if this post is in the wrong section!
I just picked up my HTC One, and I love it. I have noticed though, that gaming seems really off. I realize that the throttle kicks in at 40c but my device still has extremely subpar gameply lag when the device is cool. With no programs running in the background, games like Jetpack Joyride have a frame "jump" ever 3 seconds or so, making it unplayable. Gravity Guy runs at about 10 frames per second, and Final Fantasy III has the same frame "jump" as Jetpack Joyride. Other games I've tried run very choppy / jumpy as well. Again, I am fully stock, and I am willing to root if I can't find a solution elsewhere. Again, no other programs are running. I have turned auto-sync off. I'm on Verizon, so the power-saver mode isn't even there, so it's not turned on. Any suggestions at all will be HIGHLY appreciated! I love this phone...it is wonderful in everyway, but gaming should be buttery smooth.
The only thing I can think of is that a lot of games are optimized to run on one core...
Can rooting fix this problem? Please let me know if you either have the same issue I have, or if you have a possible solution. This is my second HTC One, as the first one had dust under the screen. Both devices had the same issue with gaming.
Thank you so much in advance!
CL
Maybe you should try a custom kernel and try to tweak the cpu governor and gpu governor a bit. For gaming you shouldn't need to overclock the htc one but to force to jump at higher frequencies more often.Go into cpu governor and change up threshold to 65 or lower and maybe you should try the gpu simple governor as well to see if there is any difference. I recommend using a tweak app like trickster mod for this.

I'm a complete noob when it comes to kernels. I am tempted to return the phone and trade it in for a GS4. I shouldn't have to go to this trouble to fix this horrible lag on such a high-end phone. Any ideas? Can someone give me a link to a detailed / easy to follow process on rooting / changing throttle threshold.
I'm not new to flashing etc but i'd advise not to do it with this phone as it avoids your warranty, i'm also about to swap my phone for the 4th time.
Mine lags too on games like asphalt 8, GTA etc.

Tegra Overclock OUYA Edition is finally here :)

What this app is gonna do?
This will give you some boost that is really required to play games that are demanding on GPU front.
What this app require?
You need to be ROOTed and for that there is a really great app with one touch facility available! The link is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2387507
After you get ROOTed just install the Tegra Overclock OUYA EDITION app from attachment and click on OK for one click optimization.
You can also change the actual resolution to somewhat lower to again get a massive boost in GPU intensive games or shall I say those games that scale with GPU clocks very well. (I can confirm nearly 2X boost in RipTideGP2 with all settings maxed out when comparing with 1080p to 720p option provided in the app :laugh
Any kind of hazardous warning before use?
If anything goes wrong then you know where the power switch is! Close the console and cut the power and start again. We have not implemented the on Boot settings for safety reasons...
What about future updates?
I just wish that 4.2.2 gets for the OUYA and that will be a game changer for the console as that support full screen scaling on resolution changing vs screen compensation provided by current android 4.1 version....
NOTE: The app is fully free to use one click solution for OUYA owners and don't require you to get involve in any of cracking stuff Still the app does costs us in development and support front so any kind of donation will be greatly appreciated. If you are planning to buy any Tegra device in future then you can support us by purchasing the original Tegra Overclock app from the market that will in turn benefit you as well..
BTW don't forget to hit the thanks button
EDIT: Version 1.1 Change log
*Nothing new just made the interactive governor as a default rather than performance governor due to heating concern.
*Checked the code so that 2D GPU is set to 520 MHz too, in case it still reports half let me know..
EDIT: Version 1.2 Change Log
***Added requested LBCMT (LastBootCpuMaximumTemperature!) This shows the maximum temperature your device went during last boot.
***Added apply on boot (Works only when the USB device with at least a single file is detected to ensure you don't intentionally mess up anywhere )
The LBCMT will works as soon as you boot once after you open the app for the first time. Also note that YOU SHOULD NOT KILL THE APP manually by task killers or the reporting will be fake. BEWARE....
EDIT: Version 1.3 Change LOG
***Full screen stretched resolution support for CM11 Rom users. Use the special newly added resolution (will only work for CM users currently as no other 4.3 or 4.4 Roms available)
Fixes for temp not showing on custom kernel like EPRJ Kernel.
Thank you for being patient.

is there no way to allow users to set advanced profiles so that they can configure a medium and max overclock setting?
i saw the temps on my core rise up pretty quickly just from fiddling with the UI, not sure if I want to subject this little guy to that much abuse with no really efficient cooling solution under the hood.

it's understandable for the lil guy to get hot quickly when you are overclocking the GPU+CPU, can't expected to run cool unless you put a better cooling fan into you console, i don't mid my ouya running a lil hot, well mines don't get hot enough cause my ouya got a acrylic custom shell with enough vents and airflow that keeps my console way cooler then the ouya stock/factory shell...
its obvious that it would run hotter if the clock speed is higher. no one is disputing that. i just don't see how not allowing the user to specify speed as much of the other CPU overclocking programs like SetCPU allow the user to do.
It's a needed feature IF it can be supported and implemented.
Excellent!
I'll give this a bash tonight and see what improvements there are!

Actually Temperatures are no problem for this chip as it can bear temperatures of 70 C with great ease as the manufacturer mentioned. Don't worry about that also let me know if they are above this temperature so that we can do something about that. If you ask me I am comfortable with 85C as that is what the throttle temperatures (Default mind you!). Just Relax and crush the games already

The custom CPU clock feature conflict the one click feature and not to mention lower clocks are not required as there is no trouble with the highest speed since the cooling is active and with sink. Just don't worry about the temps too much as everything is normal here and the purpose of console is to bear high temperatures with high load even with little heat management..
I have both the old app and the Ouya specific one and it looks to me that 2D GPU clock is set to 260MHz (1/2 of 3D clock). @Kingshoo, can you tell us what the "one click" settings are (governor, CPU clock, GPU, etc).

Oh really If its working on Half then I will bump that to full to in next iteration
Settings are nothing but final settings in one click. Meaning Performance governor (Because this one has no polling overhead as opposed to interactive). GPU to 520Mhz, CPU clock to 1.7Ghz (1.6 on all 4 cores as set by OUYA). Ram at 800Mhz and also no throttling on Ram and GPU so that performance is reduced only due to H/W limitation or by bad coding practices and not due to some power saving logics

Cool...thanks! Looking forward to v2
BTW...for reference, I had my governor set to performance for a while and it drove the fan to run almost at all times. To the point I ended up shelling 20 bux to buy the Noctua quiet fan. Maybe others have better luck with the stock fan - but if noise is a concern, I found that the "Interactive" governor scales pretty fast with no visible impact on performance vs "Performance".
My 2 cents.
After reading several reviews about Noctua 40x10mm A-Series Blades with AAO Frame, SSO2 Bearing Premium Retail Cooling Fan NF-A4x10, I decided to buy it. I replaced the noisy fan of my OUYA, and the difference in sound is amazing. I had to check if the fan was actually running because barely hear it. Also, the temperature of my equipment dropped ~ 10°C, so overheating issues could be easily fixed, if you decided to overclock. I recommend this product without a doubt. Check on eBay or Amazon.
If you want to replace the fan, here's a guide how to do it. youtube . com /watch?v=rra0FwlHvBA
Well honestly I wasn't able to play games on OUYA but since you people are playing games what the temps of CPU are anyways after say an hour? I am asking this because I don't see a need for custom coolers as 50C or 70C it really don't make any difference to your hardware. Yes the fan noise may be concerning to many but I have cotton plugs in my ears to keep it silent (these really costs cents and not $$!). OK so newer version will have interactive on one click..
My stock fan is totally silent anyway
