What girl's want (Make a rom request here) - Shift Development

Ok, I see a lot of customisation done here, so I think it's time to make a rom based on user requests. Of course, please don't ask for headset, BT, SD, wifi, this will of course be added when found.
Just post what kind of rom you would like, and we will try to find a list of good programs to include.
Criteria are: small programs, specially usefull, and (possibly) free to use in a rom.
Adding as much as possible in a rom is counter productive, as it grabs more storage space than installing the cab afterward.
My guess is that programs should be in the following categories:
GPS aid tools
Phone aid tools
Today plugin tools
Memory and system managment tools
Core functionality
Default settings
The following post will compile what has been selected. Rom will be created when enough input is aquired. Requests can be done for removal also (like games for example)
now fire your requests

----Reserved--------

To me it is sufficient that there was an application that gives me the opportunity to do everything with your fingers. Without using the scrollbar. As in Mr gullum ROM. Thanks for this opportunity to express your wishes.

ClearTemp v1.2 (http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/cleartemp.shtml)

would like....
i would like one that has only the phone, text messages, touchflo (if possible) and GPS, for everything else we have the Vista side like office, messenger and any other app we could possibly want.
botton line the less you put in it the faster it will be and still leave room to install any other app an specific user may want.
just my 2 cents.
BTW great work we are all very thankfull for all your hard work and that goes to cmonex and the rest of your team.
thanks

Call firewall and what you have listed chat of some type (I use yahoo)

i would love to have a ROM based on MANILA or POINT UI or throttle launcher.
i know that there is not much space. but it can be done ( for some resone it works slow..)
please, im willing to donate ( again!!) to the one that will creat that kind of ROM. ( no need for SnupVue...or Office..
10x!

Your current rom is almost perfect. Everybody can install the programs they want. Only I would like have speaker phone forced on like iOO did in his rom and those three themes can be replaced with just one black snapvue theme. And also it should be possible to soft reset from wm side so you dont have to start vista to do that.

Less is more
Actually I would like to see more stripped out all non-essential files/ anything to make more room for programs and data!
I see you put the HTC tools in there, but with the exception of USBTool,RealVGA and cab install support - I wonder how many times I will fire up GPS Debugging...
There maybe some housecleaning opportunities in the Windows Directory (temp files and other such....)
A good screen rotation utility would be nice - I use Mobipocket for WM for reading ebooks and it also has the nice side effect of rotating the WinMo display (if you rotate the display within MobiPocket it keeps the WinMo display rotated after you exit the reader) *** side note to ask MobiPocket to enable rotation in the desktop version of their tool (funny that they didn't think to put it in there - if enough people harangue them from this forum maybe?) - which I also have running on the Vista side and it sets my teeth on edge to know that i can't rotate the display...grrr.... ****
So I am ok on the screen rotation - but maybe others dont want to install Mobipocket........
Anything that would help battery life -- power miser settings set as default in most things that you might otherwise have to configure --
Lean and mean........
thanks for the current state - which rocks!
Shame on HTC for crippling such a neat device.
regards
Sudipta

I'm registering all requests and also lean on to a clean rom.

lean for me too
first, thanks to all the ROM cooks. i have tried almost all of them and am now using thaihugo's latest. i haven't had this much fun configuring and reconfiguring a machine since installing Slackware 1.1 in 1994.
what a sad loser, i am. well, insomniac anyway.
i'd like a really lean ROM because i like to install my own selection of stuff: pocketxpdf, tcpmp. quickmenu, putty. i don't even need Activesync or the built in e-mail client and calendar. for me, it would be great if anything that i could easily install myself was left out.

Is it possible to include 800X480 resolution driver to fully utilize the screen. Thank you very much!

I've followed your requests here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=495143

wow, fast.. Maybe a easy way, to customize your ROM with standard European language packs.
(french, italia, german, spain,..

I Would prefer a ROM BASE on WinMo 6.1 as UDK's rom was cause it worked fine with haret.
I Woud like a complete Rom With:
- GPS Fix
- QuickGPS
- Phonestuff enabled
- Google Maps (if you have it working with GPS)
- Opera
- TouchFlo (if possible =)
Apps: (prefered as cabs to install them when needed)
- IM Slick
- Mobile Office
- Total Commander
- Finger Keyboard (If it will will work)
- GoogleMaps
- Adobe Reader
I liked your roms but they wont work with haret.
So hopefully will work in future !

SnapVue Cab
What I really want (and have no clue how to do) is the SnapVue as a today plugin cab.
Love your Light ROM (it is my current one). However, I love SnapVue as a concept also. Some things to think about/fix (?):
-The clock allows you to open it to the alarms and Time Zones (I am using a plug in similar to the SnapVue Clock/Calender)
-The "Settings" button is remapped to programs OR opens a shortcut tab for key programs (customisable)
-The Plugin does not "steal" all the real estate. Currently it covers the scroll bar so you can not add other plugin above or below it. This is very irritating (particularly for me who has several plugins).
Currently, I can only get SnapVue (with other ROMS) to work with other plug-ins if I use RealVGA. However, using RealVGA then stops my spb Travel Assistant working (don't understand why).
Food for thought
Cheers

even lighter if possible!
I am using Age of Reason, and it is fantastic - I now even have space to store a bit of my own audio and video. I have also just installed the new YouTube WM application from m.youtube.com which works but has very jerky motion.
I am using TCPMP, so have no use for WMP. I also do not use ActiveSync, so if that was optional, it would save me some space (as well as having to kill it from time to time).
I still think that any item that is available in a simple CAB install might as well be left out, unless it takes up less space by burning it into the ROM.
Thanks again for all your efforts.

Actually, removing this component will make you lose memory, so it's better to keep them. Don't ask me why, but it is this way. WMP and activesync are system components...

Need i say more? Thanks for this great ROM! Age of reason is on my shift and it works great!

RamROM 1.00 --> 1.22WWE + GPS (thaihugo base)

I used thaihugo ROM as base for this. Thanks to thaihugo for providing this.
I added GoogleMaps, YouTubePlay, VicSoft Clear Temp, Adobe Reader LE for Diamond. Replaced current USBTool with modaco ShiftPack.Liberate. This fixes the Registry setting needed to install cabs. The only registry setting you need to do is changing HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\KEYBD\CurLang value to your keyboard. You can find those values in plirom 2.00 thread.
I have also placed links to USBTool under Programs\Comm (thaihugo ROM has here) and also under SnapVue Settings (ShiftPack.Liberate does this). Here in SnapVue Settings you will see a link to SoftReset too. This is exactly what Shift.Liberate does currently whenever you liberate using modaco's procedure.
Memory:
Free Storage: 28.58 MB
Free Program: 21.21 MB
Here is the link to download RUU_Signed.nbh
Use CustomRUU.exe that is available in thaihugo and plirom threads.
The next upgrades to this ROM are HTC Voice Recorder, once I figure out how to enable the microphone, .NET 3.5, Screen Capture, and HTC official YouTube Player replacing YouTubePlay. I am also planing to remove original calculator with 1-Calc.
Disclaimer: This is a cooked ROM and is supported by neither Microsoft nor HTC. Neither I nor the ones from who I learned how to cook should be held responsible for any malfunctions or irreversible damage that may cause by flashing this ROM to the device. Use at your own risk. Bottom line, I take no responsibility for the damages that may happen to your device by flashing this ROM.

Hi Martiare
There are two ways
1. you could use external bluetooth receiver that your vista side could use to connect using BlueTooth or USB, easiest and fastest way of doing it.
2. If you wish to use internal GPS of Shift then, you need to install either thaihugo's ROM, pliROM or RamROM, which can be downloaded from this forum (search is your friend). Once you install them, you have multiple options, but the one I use is using Franson's GPSGate Client for Vista and WinMo. I bought this for $49 and I feel good investment. Install GPSGatePPC on WinMo side, and GPSGate on Vista side. Configure GPSGatePPC to work on ActiveSync. Configure GPSGate to receive signals from ActiveSync. And install Maps software such as AutoRoute or Micosoft Streets, Earthmate etc. on Vista side and thats all.
Thanks

First of all let me thank you and all other "cookers" for your continuous effort. I've been following the birth and the growth of quite a high number of ROM's, and I still can't understand if it's a good or a bad thing... I mean: surely everyone that flashes a newly cooked ROM acts as a beta-tester for the "chef" and for all other users that don't dare or simply can't flash a new ROM each week. Moreover each new ROM, even if adds some (in)compatibility problem, solves many others (just think about the possibility to use GPS). And this is the good part of the situation.
On the other hand I feel a bit confused. Each new ROM has many good things, but lacks in others, IMO. I know it's a matter of personal taste, but for instance I would really like that PliROM's home could be the standard for each other ROM. And that's just one of the things that I (and each one of us) could point up.
May I suggest to write down a list of the components and let a survey start? If 90 people over 100 should prefer PliROM's interface instead of original Shift one (again: it's just an example), why to continue developping ROMs with other interfaces?
I say this because I'm absolutely unable to cook anything, and I think that many of us can't.
Of course I'll go on flashing new (stable) ROMs, trying to beta-test , at least for a few weeks... than I'll have to go back to work and I wouldn't run the risk anymore to loose data or hardreset
Pure Snapvue
Hi Sai ;
Even though the user interface is really limited , i -personally- prefer using snapvue ...
So ... is there a way for you to
-either let me know how to disable the top bar with the start menu on your liberated rom
or
-cook a rom only cab-install and gps enabled , so that i can go on my own way...
My very best regards
Safak

Hi Ram,
Thanks a lot! If you can cook the 2nd CHT version with the updated GoogleMaps will be perfect! One more request, can you use pli6128's plirom v2.00 WWE 1.22.405.0 96dpi to cook the CHT 2nd version? Because I tried and feel it's user friendly and the key buttons for both contacts and programscan be address. Also, I found it stable too.
Thanks.

For free GPS Tracking in Google Earth, and Google Maps mobile, checkout http://www.reperion.com and choose basic, free download.
You don't need to boot vista to see your realtime tracks, all you have to do is import your Reperion KML network link to Google Mobile Maps !
It will give you much much more than just tracking... check it out

Installed and working. Just one query about the GPS side though.....
I'm using a UK version of the shift for starters that is only a few months old. I've fllashed the Rom as above and also installed the GPSGate software on both sides. That all seems to be working fine and the WinMob side has found the GPS Module on COM4 and is receiving data but no location. After having read the other threads I appreciate you have to stand in the middle of a field for i to pick up the satellites. Unfortunately I have tried this and it still isnt picking them up. Is it possible that HTC has now stopped installing the GPS Antennas in recent Shifts (no, I haven't opened it up to look)?
Any other ideas?

in HCTC GPS Tool (Settings tab) press Open Button, in the lower part you will see some scrolled text, when you run GPS software for the first time you have to wait for 15-30 minute to recieve the signals, then go to Satellite tab the no. of satellite used must be 3 or more to get your location, thise what I did, hope it is the correct way.

I agree with you completely. I don't think they would have removed it. It may be some issues with the position or something related to GPSGate configuration. I also come into issues where it would take good 15 to 20 minuts to lock my Shift for the first time especially with overcast skies, evenings and inside the building. I may be wrong too, HTC might have removed the GPS altogether in the newer systems, but that would be a drastic step for HTC. If they do so, I would suggest buying RAON Everun and tether it with a Kaiser or Hermes would be cheaper. You would have a GPS receiver on your WinMo, and have bluetooth, SD, Wifi handy and you could connect your Everun to that and it fits in the pocket, eventhough the screen is nearly 5" as opposed to 7". But that is cheaper alternative and runs on more manageable XP. And installing GPSGate on WinMo and XP gives me to have the GPS on bigger screen.
Thanks
Ram
Got the GPS Tool running again. It's hovering on Sat 32 and 14 with the odd scan of no. 1 on its own. Going to leave it on the windowledge overnight as the field isn't really an option!
I'm used to using a Garmin Zumo on the motorbike that takes seconds to find the sats and TomTom on my Hermes in the car and also it's own in-built Toyota Effort. None takes this long to find satellites.
But it is fun, isn't it!!!

Yep, it is kind of slow, once you get the location fixed, and it uses 2 satellites, the things move pretty fast. I have quite a good number of GPS devices, and all of them are pretty fast when compared to this.
Thanks
Ram
So the GPS Tool locked up the WinMob side , it mustn't have liked being left on all night! Pulled the battery and reset. Hey Presto the sky is full of satellites tonight and all is working fine!!!! It takes ages to take its initial reading of where everything is, has a real good think about it and then decides to work.
Now looking forward to any future incarnations.
Many thanks to all

[Q]What Do You Want In A ROM?

I'm new to this rom cooking business here so i wanted to see what everyone wanted out of a ROM. I've already made something with the help of all folks on XDA but i'm not sure if this is something i want to release because its not really any different than the roms that are already out there except its probably slower
The idea of this is for everyone to tell me what they want in a rom and maybe some advice in cooking ROMs would be nice.
My Ideas:
1. A lite ROM
2. an SPB ROM (of course you would have bought SPB mobile shell to use this)
3. A touch flo 3d rom (Just because i love itje and chalid's ROMS)
1. Touchflo 3D... that is a MUST for me
2. ALL Microsoft apps included with X1. I lose MS notes program with Xperience
3. ALL included games
4. perhaps a new panel or two
5. instant messaging
6. more stable bluetooth
7. wifi networking / UMA calling
Just things that I would like... not sure how feasible some are, but definitely a wish list.
1. A TF3D version that is capable of handling AVRCP and A2DP correctly!!! (like daran clarkes)
2. Voip
basicly just a fast default ROM without anything special.
so lightweight plx!?
so i can install TF3D instead of manilla (a2dp, seems faster too)
Agreed upon the TF3D..that is deffinatly a must! IN PORTRAIT AND LANDSCAPE
ALL MS Office Apps
All Stock Apps + Additional ones from diff roms
A few new panels
Full QWERTY Keyboard
(Xperice is good, but i dont like the blackstone layout for dialer nor password screen) I like the metal brush look like the stock one had

I had originally removed panles but maybe that is another ROM i will create. One with Panels, One without plus TFL3D and one with Both.

oh and plz ... if there has to be TF3D on teh ROm, DONT mod it with colors. turning the tf3d into blue is easy, but making it black aggain is kinda impossible cause i havnt found the darn skin/cab for it yet.
Hmmm well thats interesting. I was going to make it similar to itje's touch of blue but i was going to make it red but you have a valid point. I'll release those as cabs if i can find a free cab creation program.
I agree with the OP on his first suggestion;
A lite rom for each WM build, with updated drivers/tweaks and a selection of cabs for commonly used applications so we can pick and choose what we install.
I don't much like TF3D or Panels, I prefer SPB applications (low resource use and better customisation, IMHO).
Of course "tweaks and drivers" can sometimes be a matter of opinion, but as far as ROMs go I'd like any available choice to be mine. So if there's a choice between two or more Ati driver dlls, for example, to provide the ddls for download to be installed at the user's discretion.
Even an untweaked lite ROM for each WM build would be good, so we can experiment with tweaks and configuration as we see fit.
Whoa for each WM build? There are hundreds of builds out there. I will update the builds as i find out about them but i don't think i'll be cooking a ROM for each build out there. I think i'm going to start with a lite rom.
Question to all. Do you want panel manager installed so you have the flexibility to install the panels or just blank. If i don't install panels i'm going to try and remap the the panel buttion to a start button.

Panels are cool IMHO
I would love to see a rom that is as close to stock as possible regarding content.
A stock rom with tweaked settings for performance. No added programs (such as TF3D, games, plugins, apps etc.)
Then provide links to cab files containing new apps and so on.
Etc. a cab for TF3D, cab for Blackstone Dialer, cab for Blackstone keyboard and so on.
That way people can install those seperately and get their phone 100% like they want it.
The main problem with most roms is that people do not want all of it so by making a single clean stock rom containing only updated apps, drivers and tweaks and then making cab files available that would certainly make more users switch.

Agreed 100%.
I hope you make a basic tweaked rom where you can add or remove your cabs. so you can easily update de progs by uninstall the old cab and replace it with the new version.
I'm going to start working on a Lite ROM tonight when i get home. I'm going to try a performance tweak that i've done before..... Hopefully i don't brick my phone
As many of those who responded:
- TF3D
- All stock apps* (Yes, i want OneNote, i use it at work and it is great)
- All stock games*
- to be stable enough, to use for few months without worrying about flashing again..
*about stock apps and games, it is ok also to remove them from the ROM but at least provide them as cabs.
basically a FAST rom, these little devices are nice, but the small lags are quite annoying when you are in a hurry (like when you slide the keyboard to write someone s name to cal them but then you slide it back because you want to phone without the keyboard extended)
I'd agree on most points!
A great idea to start cooking
I think it would be pretty neat if you could cook a rom with all the stuff (TF3D, panels manager and so on) but make the apps uninstallable, if possible and please please please leave the tf3d in black I just love the whole stuff on may phone in black!
p.s.: did you see the ripped max 4G contacts app? its much better than the htc and windows one. I installed it today and its really smooth!
Thanks in advance!
You have a problem with the speed of the screen rotation? I haven't seen this on any of the roms i've used with the exception of my current one lol.. but i think i screwed something up.

Updating my Xperia, need suggestions for ROM, software etc. :D

So, I've decided to reflash my Xperia after I played with some of the settings and managed to make the whole thing really slow, choppy and buggy. There's nothing wrong with the device, I've just messed things up a bit. Nothing to worry, I'm not a newbie with stuff like this, just a bit over-enthusiastic and overconfident at times.
So, to the point, I'm looking for better alternatives to the ROM and software I already have. I'll give you a quick run-down of the stuff I have, the stuff I love and the stuff I never use with my Xperia.
The stuff I have:
-SEX1 R3.61 Barebone ROM (and all the apps et al that came with it) with SEX1cons F v3
-SPB Mobile Shell 3.x (the newest one ATM with the Weather widget)
-G-Alarm
-Opera Mobile (newest Beta)
-Opera Mini
-Pocket Player
-Google Maps
-VistaHide Battery Gauge
-Some YouTube stuff I would use if they worked properly (which they don't, partially thanks to me)
The stuff I love:
-The SPB Mobile Shell above all else. If someone would make a ROM based on the Shell alone, I would flash my Xperia with it immediately. It's got the most conventional interface in any operating system I've ever come across. I just love it.
-G-Alarm. Never has waking up been so easy. (OK, it's still not easy, but at least I do get up nowadays. )
-The conversation-style SMS
-The both Opera browsers (when they work, which is less often than I'd like)
-The tweaked camera of the SEX1 ROM
-Google Maps. I've lost count how many times I would have lost without it.
-The "notes" function.
-Messenger
-The music and video playing capabilities of the device (regardless of programs. I use Pocket Player out of habit and WMP for video playback because the PP can't handle videos all that well)
-VistaHide Battery Gauge & the fancy SEX1cons
The stuff I never use and would like to get rid off or at least hide/disable somehow:
-All the GPS garbage. QuickGPS etc. I have no GPS devices and I'm not about to buy any. Google Maps is more than enough for me.
-E-Mail. I use E-Mail so seldom anyway, I haven't even bothered to set up an account on my Xperia.
-Panels. They were fun in the beginning, but nowadays I prefer apps to panels. I don't even remember when was the last time I pressed the "X Panel"-button on purpose. Not useless, but unnecessary to me as I never use them anyway.
So, the thing I'm asking is what would be the best choices for a new ROM and whether there's some software I should consider adding or replacing some of my old apps with? For me, a ROM is just something to install SPB Mobile Shell over, so there's no need for a fancy interface or loads of apps or anything. Just the bare essentials; a fast and stable ROM plus some of the basic apps (calculator et al I seldom use, but couldn't live without). I'm not a conservatist, so I'm not afraid to abandon any of the stuff I have for something better if there is.
Also, as I obviously have to backup my PIM data, do most of the backup apps out there function correctly with the conversation-style SMS messaging?
Give me a hand here, guys, I know your collective brainpower and knowledge far exceeds mine, that's why I asked you in the first place. Thanks in advance of any tips, suggestions etc. you could give me.

Hey, if I wouldn't need the help I wouldn't have asked. It's a sign of respect, you know? That I trust in your knowledge? You don't need to answer to anything. Even small opinions and pieces of information are more than welcome.
I recently flashed my X1i, tbh it was piss easy, just install hardspl and copy the image to ur SD card!
I would suggest trying EnergyRom, or if u need Jack's 4.x full if u need asian language support
SPB Mobile shell 2.0 is was my favourite, but that was easily replaced by Touchflo3d!
The rest of the apps u listed u can easily install afterwards.
btw there's an entire forum section dedicated to X1 ROM's, so u're prob posting in the wrong place
As I told, I'm not a newbie with this stuff. It's pretty dang easy, it's just that as you guys've been here longer than I, you naturally know more about the different ROMs and software than I do. I'm not asking you how to flash or anything, I'm asking you which ROM would best suite my needs and whether or not I should replace some of the apps I've been using so far with something better.
I took a quick look at the EnergyRom and if the author knows his stuff (which it seems), it seems like a cool pile-o'-bytes. I'll take it into consideration.
The rest of the apps u listed u can easily install afterwards.

I was thinking that, too, but then decided to post here as I'm not specifically talking about ROMs alone, but the whole device's software in general.
I agree with Mjollnir1983, jackleung's "Jack V4.x Lite" would most likely be a good choice for you. I also agree that Touch Flo 3D is better the SPB Mobile Shell, but that's your personal choice. If you wanted to try TF3D, "Jack V4.x Medium" would be a good combination of a clean rom and TF3D. I personally like agent_47's "Valkyrie v3.x FireStorm", because it is has TF3D and is a fast rom with some useful apps. However it may have to many apps for you. If you decide you like agent_47's roms, then "Xperio" might work out alright. It doesn't have TF3D, but still has some good HTC stuff that makes it look better and is a more clean rom than firestorm. Links are bellow. Also I thought I would mention that QuickGPS is something you might want to keep, because it helps Google Maps get a satellite lock quicker. It doesn't always work great, but their are some fixes if your having problems with it.

I tried the TouchFLO 3D on my friend's cell and it seemed okay after a short while of getting used to. Not that different from SPB Mobile Shell and no disadvantages whatsoever compared to it. I'll give it a shot. Thanks a million, guys.
Now, the biggest question is whether or not there's a PIM backup app available that works correctly with the conversation-style SMS. (At the moment every time I restore a backup, it only restores the messages I've sent, not received. It's the messaging app itself that is responsible, cos I've tried several backup apps.) Is there, or is it just the messaging app I've tried to tweak that is responsible?
About the other apps... Well, I'll do some research myself. I'll probably stick with at least some of them for a while.
Um... I don't know man, there are thousands of apps. I think ROMs are down to personal preference and you should just try many of them to find the best one for you. From the top of my head:
Pocket Music - best music player IMHO.
SkyFire - nice broswer for flash heavy sites.
HTC mp3 trimmer WVGA - perfect for making your own ringtones.
SKTools, advanced config and xperia tweak - best tune up software there is.
SPB Online - online games, radio and TV.
MyMobiler - lets you control the X1 from your PC.
Innobec Side Window - use the X1 as a secondary screen for your PC.
Resco Explorer and Photo Viewer.
SPB Weather
SPB Insight - RSS feeds.
HTorch - pocket flashlight.
WinMobileTorrent
Core Player - best player for every video file except mp4 (use WMP for that).
MS Reader - E-Book reader.
Skype mobile
MorphGear - perfecr emulator for every old game possible.
WK Task - best task manager/launcher/x button.
Homescreen ++ - lets you check your temp, cpu speed, ram usage and more, directly on your homescreen. You can havega taskbar launcher as well. This app is a must.
There are many more, but you have to be more specific about what you want.
Cheers

You have the internal GPS of the Xperia!!!
Google maps use A-GPS need data connection to work. The normal GPS is free (exception of software and maps).
@orelsi: Thanks, I'll take a look at those shortly.
kremlincrackers: The more you know...
Thanks a lot, I wasn't aware of that at all. That means I should keep the QuickGPS, then.
EDIT: I started flashing the Jack V4.x Medium ROM. Let's see what this thing's capable of...
What you're looking for is a similar version of what I have,
You could have any light/fast ROM, I prefer to use a tweaked ROM with cache and memory enhancements. At present I am using WM 6.5 but it's even more stable with 6.1
Then SPB Shell 3, as for applications adn in addition:
- Removed X Panels and remapped panel key to Resco Explorer.
- TOMTOM this is essential, if you wish not to spend money on it there are some free alternatives, although not as good.
- Resco Explorer and Registry editor
- SBP Television, Insight, Snapshot and Imageer.
- My Mobiler
- Finger Keyboard
- World Card Mobile
- Rhodium Dialer
Cumps
Okay, fellas, thanks for the help!
I tried the ROMs mentioned above, but finally settled for the awesome Touch X ULTIMATE X-TREME 10.1 Original Green which was suggested to me by a friend of mine. I can't praise it enough. I've used 8-12 ROMs (including big names like Valkyrie, Touch-IT and SEX1 R3) in the past and it's ultimately the fastest and most stable of them. As long as it keeps running as well as it is ATM, I seriously doubt I'll ever change the ROM again. The only tweaks I had to make were adding a Programs-tab to the TF3D and removing all the Panel Manager stuff while rebinding the panel key to Pocket Player.
Give it a shot, guys. You might fall in love just like I did.

Yes, should be WWE and thank you.
Energy Android
Have you tried this? It has Harem installed which can be nicely ignored, but i believe it's desolate otherwise.....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=625330
Yes I have tried that ROM and there were some issues, I don't recall at the mment what it was. I will try it again and see.
So I checked again the recomended *Energy Android Super Lite ROM* and it just doesn't work for me for few reasons.
- It doesn't have the Start, Close/OK buttons on the bottombar.
- Atleast I couldn't disable the DualBoot app
- When changing the Start menu skin to make it 1-row, the Start menu stopped working, and the skin was OK in other ROMs
And here is some addition to my requerements for the ROM, that I just forgot to list before:
- The Default Windows keyboard, no touch keyboard (can be installed if needed)
- 20 MB Pagepool
- USB to PC should be present (it is just too usefull to omit)
- Should have .NET Framework 3.5
- The ROM should be UC capable
I'd be interested in this too, I'll keep an eye on this thread.

Thanks for your work anyway.

I want a Clear ROM also
I know few ROM`s that are super cool i mean fast, stable and everything is fine the things i don`t like is ONLY that they have installed APPS that i don`t use and i never will use, so if someone can Edit this ROM`s i mean just to delate all APPs that i don`t need will save from the Main Memory and will be just perfect.

Stock 2.07.401.1 ROM trimmed to Lite

Hello everyone,
OK, here is my first go at ROM cooking.
I was looking for a very basic ROM with only must-have applications inside, so that I can later install the software I *do* use. Eventually I gave up, as all the ROMs and even the Lite'est ones had too much features / utilities. I thought I would then take the latest official ROM available (for stability purpose) and trim it down to minimum elements (for size reduction).
Herewith is what I ended up with:
http://rapidshare.com/files/3829100....25.91_Signed_Ship_trimmed_by_aziraphale_.rar
This in no way can be called a "cooked" ROM, I still know nothing about cooking, but it is a heavily trimmed stock ROM, created by the use of RhodiumKitchen_0.1, found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=560519.
Thanks Dave for this Tutorial and all the credits go to respective tools' developers.
How to install:
- unrar
- connect with ActiveSync (or loader in USB mode)
(goes without saying Your device must be Hard-SPL'd or modified any other way to allow ROM flashing - search the forum)
- execute RomUpdateUtility.exe
There are some residual unnecessary and/or invalid shortcuts in the Start Menu,
as well as some empty folders, I manually removed them by the use of EveryWAN personal edition - it's free and it's easy to use.
The OS is 6.5 b21887
I have trimmed the following from the stock ROM:
HTC applications:
- appointment editor
- clear storage (can do Hard reset in normal way)
- facebook / engine
- format SD (can't a PC do that?)
- CoPilot + install path folder (I use TomTom)
- birthday
- bookmark
- messaging client (hate it)
- jblend
- jetcet
- manila all
- opera (when You install newer version You end up with 2 )
- sliding sounds
- social networks engine
- streaming media
- tv out
- youtube
- volume control
- google maps (same as with opera)
- setting improvement
- text selection
- wifi wizard
- browser snapshot
- ie6 enhancement
- world card mobile (BCR)
- rss hub
System:
- live search
- wm widgets
- win live
- welcome center
- transcriber
- skymarket
- one note
- remote desktop
- themes except Rock and Republic
- my phone (skybox)

I do not expect this to become very useful to most of the forum visitors/members, but perhaps there is someone out there who have not found his/her way around to make ROMs him(her)self yet, but would like to get the very basic ROM with no extras.
Very hard to define "must have" apps. I personally prefer WM6.1 over WM6.5. Bad thing is you can't install every app\functionality by using CAB's. Otherwise you could create a ROM of around 40MB. Mine is currently ~70MB and is just great for my personal use.
Might be handy to add to the first post that your ROM is actually a WM6.5 ROM
Good luck on the cooking!

You said it yourself - the "must-have" are the ones that can not be added by .cabs and will compromise phone functionality (like the HTC dialer skin will enable video calls, thus must stay)

the "2.07.401.1" implies 6.5, but added to description anyway, thanks
Good effort dude I did much the same a month or so ago with an amalgamation of Ervius Visual Kitchen (so easy) and JoshKoss kitchen. Didn't go as savage on the removal of stuff though, main objective was to get rid of the HTC Messaging
Just tried May 1st 23xxx EnergyROM with MaxManila but it cuts off MP3 playback in standby (a big no-no for me) and hung once already while texting MaxManila is nice though, and the Facebook tab is good. I usually stick to 21xxx but I must say 23xxx is growing on me with the latest build. Gonna try Cell Pro next.
I like the latest stuff but keeping up with it all is a nightmare if you're cooking. Wouldn't mind the latest 2.5 Manila packages and latest 21xxx / 23xxx SYS, also would try cooking in MaxManila, and I never managed to cook in "mark all as read" for emails properly. Need to learn how to hack on Manila. Also I forgot to cook in a task manager haha Ameba is quite nice on the latest EnergyROM. I definitely get the "why cook it in if you can get it from Marketplace / OMarket and auto update it" though, totally with you on that one instead of flashing a new ROM every week. I usually flash a new one every month or so, once I find one I like. But for the last month or so I've been running my own. It wasn't the fastest ROM ever though
It's a lot of work to make a decent ROM, and it's finding the time innit. I'm a big fan of JoshKoss but he hasn't released anything in a while
Anyway good effort dude the more the merrier I say
Also just a quick note I did get the Standby Of Death a couple of times on my cooked ROM. Very rare but still. No idea why. Don't know if it happens with the stock ROM or not.
Would like to know how to totally remove HTC messaging, sometimes when texting via Manila it would still give the conversation view which runs like a dog when you have 4,800 messages hehe
And the speakerphone sometimes screwed up - I could hear the other party but they couldn't hear me.

Before going through the trouble of surgically removing the rudimentary software myself, I have tried a few "professionally" (read: respect, not sarcasm) cooked Energy and Leo ROMs, most of them VERY recent, but I found them SOOO packed with tweaks and features, that it would take me ages just to discover all the extras. I am more on the simplier side, don't fix something which is not broken, but I just HATE Manila (expect a lot of angry protestors here) and I am not big fan of HTC customisations either. Hence was this ROM done and I am so far rather happy with it.
There is no sign of HTC messaging which I can find, and I can install and use only necessary (for me) bits of software.
For "mark all as read" there is a really good .cab on the forum, called "safeboxextender", it works like a charm and I don't mind having to install it separately (i.e. not. cooked-in).
Having come from 1.86 ROM to 2.07 I do notice that device keeps hanging even without being put to sleep, but I can not figure out the dependency yet (I mean so far it looks rather random).

Yeah me too, those guys have spent probably 100's if not 1000's of hours on learning this stuff, then putting it together in a manner that pleases a lot of different people. Major kudos. I sometimes get the feeling though particularly with chefs who release almost every day, for a number of different devices, that the care and testing leaves something to be desired. Quite often more does not = better as you know

Yeah fair enough mate although I am a big fan of Manila 2.5 and MaxManila is quite nice

Yeah I tried converting that to an EXT and cooking it in but it didn't work I know it can be done though cos a lot of ROMs have it built in. To be honest I don't really have enough time anymore to dedicate to my own ROM so I'm trying out a few others.

It's weird ... Mine's never hung while running but I've had the SOD two or three times. More research required, until then just stick the pen up it's arse haha
Could you release an additional version with a later build SYS (ie: 23XXX or 28XXX)? A lot of people use 6.5.5 or 6.5.3 and there are no Lite options for those later builds.

i'd love to, but....
as i said i am no cook and i only did it for myself and cared enough to share with anyone who'd love to have it "as is".
also, see the respective later-release ROM threads to see how many bugs are there still and ROM-cooking gurus are eliminating them one by one and it's a long and painstaking process. i have neither time, nor ability to do that.
so i guess this is as much as i can do so far.
I've been using the ROM for a few days now and it is great. Everything works perfect. Bluetooth, tethering, wifi, data connections; it all works great with no bugs Thanks for sharring. I love a clean ROM.

very good!
Well I think I have ran the gamet of tezts and this ROM is perfect. It is fast and stable trimmed down well but still offering everything a user needs. I am on AT&T in the states and it works perfect. The only thing I cant figure out is how do I shut of the vibration when using the on screen key board? And can I add a picture mail program to my device? Would it function properly and could you recommend one?

that would be by manually editing registry key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\TFLOSettings]
"ApVibrationOn"=dword:00000000
it is 1 by default, change it to 0 and you are all set

this here i am not sure what you mean?
whatever you add (install) SHOULD function properly, if it would have on a stock ROM,
as i have not made any changes to remaining ROM bits
edit: if you open Albums and select any picture You want, it will open in full screen, tap it, and 4 icon menu comes up, 3rd from the left with 2 arrows > tap this one and there is an option *mail*.
select the account (i would use email) and voila! is that what you were looking for?
Thanks Aziraphale_l I was talking about MMS. I want to send and receive picture mail with text messaging. Right now I cant send or recieve pictures except with email. But of course my friends do not have pda phones so we use MMS picture mail.
I was guessing this is what you said you removed. I looked for arcsoft for 6.5 and I see that HTC is now using "HTC Message" so I will go look for that. Thanks again.
Maybe this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=624375
With these settings from the same thread.
Server Name: Cingular MMS
Gateway: wireless.cingular.com
Port:80
Server address: http://mmsc.cingular.com
Connect via: Media Net
Send Limit: 300k
Wap Version: 2.0
I'll try to send an MMS tomorrow.

HTC messaging, which I understand handles MMS functionality in our devices, has evolved into... well, something I did not like any more, so it had to go.
I personally don't use MMS, so it is no big deal for me.
Your ArcSoft link below - I see no reason why it will not work, give it a try? You can then share Your findings with the rest of us.
P.S. Battery life on this ROM is the best I have ever seen!
I have tried a dozen ROMs and I usually stick with them for a month or so I guess. They are either lite with bugs or heavy with eye candy and bugs. So far I haven't had a single issue with yours. I think many developers get in to much of a hurry. I appreciate the great job you did on this.
I notice today that to get from one task to another, one program to another or one event to another I use fewer steps because everything is simple and functional. Thanks again.
I cooked in Arcsoft_MMS_5_2_8_45 on mine, after pulling out HTC Messaging, if I remember rightly it worked but it's very rare I use MMS anyway. If you install it afterwards, re-run carrier provisioning (or whatever it's called ... where it sets up your network settings automatically) and it should configure Arcsoft for ya.
Right now I'm running EnergyROM 23xxx from 1st of May but battery is suffering and it crashes a bit, not mega fast either. It is a nice flashy ROM tho I used to hate 23xxx and much prefer 21xxx but lately I'm kinda undecided.
Thanks for the haptic feedback registry edit; works great.
