Topaz And Rhodium Chipsets - Touch Diamond2, Pure Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

They both have the MSM7201a not the MSM7200a as reported on Pdadb.

Mine definitely has the 7200A - UK model if that helps

7200A in mine also

mine also is deifinitely 7200a

7200A = the rest of the world, 7201A = with some american patents they had to disable some features...
Each one has the same chip if bought in the same contry (obviously imports will vary.)

Where do you see this model of the kaiser supporting the 1700mhz. If you truly saw this, I would be very interested.
To my knowledge there is no version like this at the moment.

S730 for the US 3G quad band, will present S730 be upgradeable ?

I read that the official release of the S730 for the US will be 3G quad band.
I have a S730 thats is only for 2100. Will be the implementation of the other frequencies be software or hardware based ?
If it's SW would it be possible for my phone to work in quad band ?
Any ideas ?
If they included the radio for the other frequencies than a software flash should make it work, but I doubt they put the radios in for our frequencies here. I would be interested in knowing as well, but we shall see as the time gets closer
This was linked in another post. So their choices are clear, hopefully they chose to use the chip that supports all the freqs; but I doubt it, since the model IDs are different: WING220 (the EU version we all have) and the WING200 (the North American model).
Now let's see someone get the TV out working.
Seriously, we will see if writing NV item 0148 can also fix this issue.

Diamonds are Tri or Quad band physically?

As many of you may have already noticed, many of the Diamond's spec sheets say that the device's radio is capable of operating in all bands. Official word is that the device is tri-band (America or Europe). Is this limitation based on the settings for the rom or radio.
In other words, is it try or quad physicaly? And if it is, is somebody going to release a cab to enable it?
Regards,
OB
The chipset is capable of using other bands, but there is no antenna for these other bands. I am about 80% sure that in that case calibration data for the other bands will be missing in the Radio, and those bands will therefore be disabled.

HELP! Can 3G be enabled on the Airtel Diamond Models?

Hi,
A shop sold me one of the India Airtel model Diamonds but told me it was a retail version so I am kind of in a pickle.
Can I enable the 3G with a radio upgrade? Or is it an actual hardware difference with these model phones.
Any help is greatly appreciatd. I am stuck with this thing in a country where I need the 3g to even use the phone... ack....
Sorry u cant use 3G cause the chip & processor is different, it does not have a 3G chip, hence the processor in 3G models named MSM7201A and in Indian model the chip name is MSM7206A (= MSM7201A minus 3G chip) Read Worldwide websites and compare with Indian Website diamond specs...
That makes it very clear. Thanks for your advice.
Very Good information !!!

Are all GSM Diamonds identical hardware wise?

So I'm going to buy a Diamond. I have 2 options. One is Tri-band and the other is Quad, but it will cost me $200 more.
So if I'm not mistaken, the hardware is all the same so all I would need to do is flash it to unlock the 850?
Thanks.
Actually they are not the same. The European Diamond does not have the hardware for US 3G. If you need 850, go for the quad band.
the indian diamond is not 3G at all...it's got a different processor MSM7206A for 2G (the default diamond processor is 7201) with the same 528 mhz speed
except for that, all other hardware is identical to the others

That is 100% untrue. The DIAM100 does not have a WCDMA 850 radio in it, and the DIAM110 does. Aside from that, there are also other hardware differences among the different iterations.
oh ok, so not all diamonds are the same?
That's no good. Is it written in the back of the phone exactly which model of the diamond it is?
So which is the model where I can unlock the 3G?
