no sound when receiving a message - Touch Diamond2, Pure Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I really love the phone except i`ve got the same problem as i did with the Diamond 1. When I receive a message the sound doesn`t go and it doesn`t vibrate but the green LED does flash. The second I turn on the screen using the standby-key it vibrates AND I can hear the ringtone. It drives me crazy. I didn`t have this problem the first couple of days I had the phone. I haven`t installed anything on the phone yet. Are there more people that have this problem?

Maybe it's a problem with other software? Does this happen directly after a hard reset? Mine plays a sound upon receiving a message...

have the same problem. but do not know if this started when i changed the melody for the message to one that is on the memory card.
have not tried hard reset yet to see f it helps

Do not store ringtones on the memory card, when the phone goes into standby it turns off the SD card interface to save power. The same goes for any programs that you want to keep running in the background when the phone goes into standby.

i face the same problem.... likely is the ROM problem..
not only that bluetooth also have some problem...

Are you using any call blocking / filtering software? Just a thought as I had the same issue after installing Magicall.

The device is as clean as a whistle
I haven`t installed any 3rd party software of any kind. I believe it is a flaw in the software. Perhaps this will be fixed a the next rom-update.

I also have this problem now. Yesterday I got an important SMS, but did know about it until 30 min later when I clicked the standby-key. The wierd thing is that this does not happen all the time. Usually I get notified within a few minutes of a new message. I do not have my sound files on the storage card. Any ideas how to solve this?

I get this problem too, and its rather annoying.. you could try setting the phone to wake on SMS, however, depending on your lock settings, it will probably wake up unlocked even if it was locked. I like my phone to be locked at all times unless I unlock manually or I get a call ONLY.
The reg key is
HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL\DisableSMSWakeUpEvent=0

Edit: if you go into Sound -> Notifications -> Messenging: New Text Message and ensure "Display Message On Screen" is unticked, it stays locked when a msg is received

i have this problem but with a hardreset solve my problem

Im having the same problem, ive got all the alert tones saved in the phone memory and have tried a hard reset too.
The reset improved things but still getting some messages being received without the alert sound being played, im assuming its a fault as several people are having the same trouble.

I got exactly the same

It seems that the problem only occures when you're not in the home screen. When i'm in the front (home) screen the sound works fine. But if i'm in the contact look (personalized look) its silent.
Can someone confirm this?

The same problem also with vibration....

It must be a softwareflaw, i can`t wait till HTC gives the first rom update...
Does somebody know how long it took before the first rom for the diamond 1 came available after its release?

I've only used Radio 3.44.25.27 from the new HTC Asia ROM for a day so I can't be sure, but the random problem of no audio/vibration alert that I used to face with Radio 3.43.25.19 seems to have gone away.

Having the same problem except mine plays the tone but doesnt vibrate!!!

Any news about this topic?

I had this problem also until I enabled SMS wakeup as per craiglay's post

These things should be fixed by HTC if u ask me. Workaround is great but I;ll wait till a hotfix is released

Reminder rings on previous reminders, not any more configured

Hello,
I have a problem with the reminder function. The phone reminds me on times which aren't configured but were in the past. I first thought thats a problem of phonealarm or pocketzenphone, but this time, both tool weren't installed and the problem appears again.
This occures on any ROM i installed, at the moment Faria's 3.3 V2, but also superrom 1.1 had those problems...
Does someone knows something regarding that problem? I don't know where the problem could be. But I know that I'm nerved because of the reminder rings at any times I ever configured...
You may need to provide some examples on your problem. Eg, when you set it and how long before it went off, etc
You may want to scan it using 'check notification' by 'scary bear'(?) .
Hm, it's not really reproducible. I have three reminders on, e.g. 06:00, 10:00 and 18:00 o'clock. And now it rings always additionally at 10:30. This time was configured sometime in past. But: I have configured also other many other reminders at other times, they don't ring. So, not all in the past edited reminders are popping up, but some.
I'm not sure what you mean with
"You may want to scan it using 'check notification' by 'scary bear'(?) ."
but I will have a look et the board, what it could mean
OK, I found the software, checking it currently... thanks!
I found on his page also the tool: Notification Clear Fix!
The description tells me there's a problem with old notifications... that's my problem...
OK, I found the notification 10:30 in that tool... and other too!
what does this mean now?!
there must be a problem with this app clock.exe. hmmmmm, strange, when does that happens and why...?!
If your phone get distrubed in some way (eg software hang, weird softreset) it will mess up the notification queue. That's the fix the messed up one. just make sure you don't hang your phone too much.

new sms notification not sounding

hello xda, ive posted a previous msg about this issue b4, along with others who have the same problem. ive done searches on here and have found that the issues have to do with some version of OPERA. my issue on the other hand is i dont use opera i use SKYFIRE. Does Skyfire use some sort of OPERA? ok now to my issue, (back when i first got my tilt, i had att oem rom 6.1) i now have duttys 6.1. after about a week after i first got the phone, ive been having problems with the phone notifying me of a new msg after about 5-6 sms. ive also noticed that when it fails to notify me, the alarm fails to sound as well. only after a soft reset does it fix its self, until another 5-6 msgs. ive also done the enable/disable threaded msg cab and it doesnt work, both cabs try to disable it. the programs that are installed are. A_C S2U2, bejeweled 2, boz quick menu, s2u2c, phm reg edit, skyfire browser, spb backup, and tilt keyboard fix for cooked roms. <-THESE ARE ONES IVE ADDED, if you need to know all thats one there that was cooked in, please pm me. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME. im gettin tired of this issue. att no longer carrys the phone for a insurance claim and im not sending it to HTC and being without a phone. im starting to think its more of a hardware issue than a software issue, if flashing it doesnt solve the problem. Thanx in advanced and sorry for such a long post. also b4 anyone says anything, everything is still checked to sound and vibrate under notifications and sounds.
John
One option you could try is to disable then re-enable the sounds.
Are you sure theat the phone is not temporarily muting the sounds. You could try manually switching the sound off on the volume icon next to the top right X and then re-enabling it.
Have you tried the hard reset?
That will determin if it's hardware or not.
to gilligan8
yes i have done the hard reset several times and it also does it with every rom i flash to the phone
to Elwyn M3100
thanks for the fast reply. no i havent switched the phone volumn to off and then back on. next time it messes up i will do that be i soft reset. if it is muting its self what could this mean the issue is?
But it doesn't do it till you flash it with a rom?
not a flashed rom issue
I have had this problem from about a week after getting my phone. I had this issue with the att oem 6.1 rom after I noticed the problem I contactecd att for a replacement, only to find that they have disscontinued it. id had to trade in the phone for something diff, cuz I love everything about this phone except my sms issuse. trust me I've searched and searched hard about how to fix this and have had quite a few good solutions, but nothin seems to work. I believe this is a hardware issue and not software. I just hope someone has the same issue that I do and nows how to fix it. thank you all for ur help
Being a computer guy this really doesn't sound like hardware... why would a hardware failure be so consistent? 5-6 times then soft start brings it back.
i do believe it is hardware related because i still have the problem even when i reflash to a new diff rom. after i receive anywhere from 5 to 6 msgs it then fails to sound on the following msg. the only way i can get it to resound is to perform a soft reset.
I had exactly the same problem and realised it was just the radio needed changing.
what radio are u running? i have 1.65.14.06 i also had this same issue with the stock att rom and radio

Problem With Making Calls After Device Has Been Locked

Hi All,
I've got a Diamond which is running Duttys V4 ROM with Radio v1.09.25.23.
Everytime i lock the phone (holding the hard {END} key), leave the phone for a length of time (say 1-2 hours - a shorter time will not produce this issue) and unlock the phone (bottom left {unlock} - middle right {confirm}) i am then unable to make outgoing calls. The phone still has signal and will recieve incoming calls / sms but upon trying to make an outgoing call or send a sms i recieve the message {your phone has no signal...yadda yadda yadda}.
Now, if i disable the Phone from comms manager and re-enable it, it will start to work and likewise, if i recieve an incoming call when the device is not working, it will work fine after the incoming call has ended. It just seems as if the phone isn't aware it's got a signal until it is made aware of this fact by an action, say incoming call.
Incoming SMS's although they come through, don't make the phone return to a working state.
Obviously there is a easy work around for this which is - Don't lock the bloody device - i can leave it for days with the screen off but no MS Lock enabled and it will still work fine.
Would be nice to get it sorted if anyone has got any ideas or seen anything like this. Could this be as simple as a regkey??? I suppose my other worry is that it my be indicative of a larger hardware problem...etc
Oh i've also tried upgrading the Radio to v1.11.25.01 which i'm now using with slightly increased battery life and higher than normal signal strength but no joy with it resolving this issue.
Tried a hard-reset, numerous soft-resets and all to no avail...
Sorry for a lengthy problem post and thanks in advance guys,
Tom
are u using s2u2?

Nope, not using s2u2, although i have tried this to get around the problem and it doesn't seem to re-create the issue when S2U2 is used.
Just to re-iterate, it only happens when the device is locked with the inbuilt windows lock and left for a while (1hr ish)
Any clues anyone?? Does WM6.1 do anything strange with the radio when the device enters lock mode - ie. does is put the radio into "sleep mode" which only looks for incoming signals and then not come out of it properly?
Is anyone else having an issue like this at all??
Any help would be much appreciated!
Cheers guys

SMS Notification

HI Guys
Over the past few days have noticed that when i get a SMS sometimes i get a notification and sometimes i dont.
Any one else same prob, And is there anything we can do, have tried soft reset still same.
Marko
I have the same problem...
Snap. Read somewhere else someone contacted HTC and although several people have reported it, they can't replicate the error.
Try changing this in the registery:
HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL\DisableSMSWakeUpEvent=0
The screen willl turn on, and you will get notification based on your settings (vibration, sound)..
Still don't know if it will wake up unlocked or not, but if you have the option to show the message onscreen when you get it, it will wake up with the options to answer and cancel, I think. Try it out
you can also dl this software

Incoming Text Message Sound Changes Spontaneously

I have searched all over for this, but cannot seem to find anyone else having this particular problem, so I am curious. Sorry if this does not apply to you.
Here we go:
First of all, has anyone else noticed that their incoming text message notification sound gets changed occasionally to the default WM one (not the SE one) without you doing anything to change it?
Second of all, if you answered yes to the above have you noticed any correlation between the sound changing and a wired headset getting plugged in?
I am curious because I have been having this problem and I think I might have found the trigger. This has happened on every ROM (R1,R2,R3,Itje's,valkery's) I have ever flashed, so I do not think that it is a ROM specific bug. I dont know how many people use the wired headset that came with the X1, but surely if this isnt a ROM specific bug I am not the only one having trouble with it.
Is anyone else having this problem?
The same thing was happening to me, I wasn't sure why it was doing that either. I guess it wasn't that big of a deal so I decided to keep the original default one. Kind of sucks that it does that. If anyone has a solution to the problem let me know!
the only time i notice this is when i remove my memory card. As i store my ringtones on there if i remove it and a text or call comes through the X1 will default to the standard one.
Once i have reinstalled the card i can select my tone again.
does this help?
glad to hear I am not the only one.
I can understand why it would do that with the memory card removed and the sound file no longer preent, but maybe that bit of information can help us find out the real issue.
I will do some digging, as I am pretty proficient with these things. Thanks for the input guys.
I noticed it used to do that on my old X1i... it wasn't that it would randomly change the sound, it was that suddenly the sound I was using would disappear! I had to re-copy the sounds back on to my phone every other week, and I had no idea why it kept disappearing
I noticed this problem on my X1 as well.
Not sure what triggered the change to default tone.

do you use a wired headset?
I've noticed the tone changing to the default "beep" when i receive a message whilst i am on a call. Then i have to manually change it back to the one i had before.
I have the same sometimes, and also my auto brightness and optical joystick settings are changed occasionally. dunno why, but it doesn't happen very often.
I had this happen the other week. I wasn't touching the phone other than having an sms conversation over the course of a few hours with the phone going into standby between sms's. All was going well with my normal sms tone and then suddenly it changed. I hadn't touched any other settings or added or removed anything. I don't know if it is related but a couple of days later, the sound went to half volume through my speaker until I rebooted.
I don't think taking out the memory card is the issue. I've had the tone saved in the phone memory so I don't think it would be affected if I eject the memory card. I'll have to test out the wireless/wired headset to see if that does anything once I get my phone back from repair. It was supposed to come in yesterday but didn't, hopefully today.
Never happened to me.
May happen due to changing the placement of the desired sms tone in the device's memory (changing the folder).
mine has just started doing this in the past week, weird....
This happens to me every time I start SKTools, it's weird.
Hi guys
it happens to me as well...
Hi
I get this too. My sound file is saved under windows folder on the device. Can not pinoint it to an act or happening on the phone which triggers it.
This has happened to me as well. I have noticed, everytime I turn the volume off, the ringtone changes.
I had the same problem..But..
I installed a trial version of panoramic phone genius and SPB MS3.01 and later replaced phone genius with SPB PHone Suite and S2U2.
Now this no longer happens. The sound would change especially after I reset the phone (turned off and then on). Now this no longer occurs. Hope this helps.
