Problem With Making Calls After Device Has Been Locked - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hi All,
I've got a Diamond which is running Duttys V4 ROM with Radio v1.09.25.23.
Everytime i lock the phone (holding the hard {END} key), leave the phone for a length of time (say 1-2 hours - a shorter time will not produce this issue) and unlock the phone (bottom left {unlock} - middle right {confirm}) i am then unable to make outgoing calls. The phone still has signal and will recieve incoming calls / sms but upon trying to make an outgoing call or send a sms i recieve the message {your phone has no signal...yadda yadda yadda}.
Now, if i disable the Phone from comms manager and re-enable it, it will start to work and likewise, if i recieve an incoming call when the device is not working, it will work fine after the incoming call has ended. It just seems as if the phone isn't aware it's got a signal until it is made aware of this fact by an action, say incoming call.
Incoming SMS's although they come through, don't make the phone return to a working state.
Obviously there is a easy work around for this which is - Don't lock the bloody device - i can leave it for days with the screen off but no MS Lock enabled and it will still work fine.
Would be nice to get it sorted if anyone has got any ideas or seen anything like this. Could this be as simple as a regkey??? I suppose my other worry is that it my be indicative of a larger hardware problem...etc
Oh i've also tried upgrading the Radio to v1.11.25.01 which i'm now using with slightly increased battery life and higher than normal signal strength but no joy with it resolving this issue.
Tried a hard-reset, numerous soft-resets and all to no avail...
Sorry for a lengthy problem post and thanks in advance guys,
Tom

are u using s2u2?

Nope, not using s2u2, although i have tried this to get around the problem and it doesn't seem to re-create the issue when S2U2 is used.
Just to re-iterate, it only happens when the device is locked with the inbuilt windows lock and left for a while (1hr ish)
Any clues anyone?? Does WM6.1 do anything strange with the radio when the device enters lock mode - ie. does is put the radio into "sleep mode" which only looks for incoming signals and then not come out of it properly?
Is anyone else having an issue like this at all??
Any help would be much appreciated!
Cheers guys

Restarts during a call?

Is it just me or are you also expiriencing restarts during a phone call?
Its ususaly 10 sec after the conection is established anounced with some "electrical bruum"" niose ..
There are no memory tweaks on my phone.
KraFT
Sorry for bumping this thread but I just want to check if others are experiencing similar problems.
Despite those restarts else is working perfectly and I do like this device a lot....
The problem.
On every (average) 10 calls I made, the Diamond restarts by it self in the middle of the conversation.
Its usually 5-10 seconds after the call is established announced with some "electrical brruum" noise
in the speaker.
In the beginning I was thinking that this is something with the software settings and I did checked all the network settings but so far no progress.
Yesterday I tested the phone by leaving it next to the radio with the connection established for 25 minutes
with my wife`s phone, on the same T-mobile network.
This test went without any problems. Twice...
(Note: Its a free call for people in my circle - T-Mobile package)
Today I had more restarts.
Two of them were in my car ( for the first time) with the loud speaker "on" and 5 restarts during a regular call.
So far all the restarts happened only when I dialed the numbers.
I cant provoke the restart and I cant diagnose the problem.
This is slowly becoming a huge problem for me.
I did two hardresets but there were no changes also.
No tweaks were applied ...
Does anyone experienced any similar problems?
Thanks,
KraFT
With "hardware restart" do you mean "hard reset"?
Have you done hard reset?

I was 100% positive that this will solve my problems…I was so sure that today I replaced the SIM card twice at T-Mobile … Unfortunately the problem remains the same.Again today on every 3 - 5 calls I made the device restarts by it self announced with the same electrical noise …No specific rules to provoke that… Usually after 4 or 5 sec .I am doing my third and last hard-reset today and I will re-test everything during the weekend.I hope that someone will write down the solution …

Why dont you jsut return the diamond where you got it from and get a new one??. Seems like your just wasting your time when it seems like its the phone that is faulty. Seriously get it replaced or fixed.
Thats what I am going to do on Monday.
I just hope that someone will sugest a fix.
K
A fix ! demand a new one well witin 28 days
I also experience exactly the same problem. When the phone is running 3G I can make calls without a problem but when it reverts to GSM and if I make a call I hear a buzzing sound and the phone restarts. Once again only when on the GSM network.
Any advice. I have the stock WWE latest rom with Hard SPL

Ok.
1. Quick fix...
Change 2 registry entries in the following part of the registry for GPRS/3G Auto-Disconnect...
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Planner\Settings\
**Change the DWORD "CacheTime" to the number of seconds the connection should remain active (I use 60 seconds)
**Change the String "SuspendResume" from "~GPRS" to "GPRS_bye_if_device_off" (without the quotes).
Restart...
That's it.
2. Slow fix...
I had this problem with 1.93 rom.
The fix above solved my problem.
With the htc 2.03 stock rom my radio was updated and the problem was gone...
No need for any fix anymore.

Problem making phone calls

Hi, I've owned my tytn II for a few months and in the last couple of weeks, the phone has been acting really odd. I have tried to make a call and it gives me the dreaded "beep beep beep" and ends the call every time i try. I've noticed this though; If i turn the phone off and back on, then as soon as it gets signal (like 3 minutes after load up??), i can make a call ... Then i cant make another after that ... Then if i send a text, as soon as i receive the "sms sent" notification, I can call again, if i try immediately.
It seemed like a software issue, so selected "clear storage" from the settings menu and still get the same problem. I've tried changing from my virgin sim to my vodafone sim and get the same problem. To make maters far worse, as well as not being able to dial out, nobody can dial in; it goes straight to voicemail. I am showing average to good reception when this happens.
One thing i have noticed since the problem started is that the "G" symbol at the top of the phone is now showing "3G", but i haven't changed area and don't recall it saying 3G before. I haven't changed any settings and haven't got any new software ... Its at factory standard, 100%.
Does anyone know what I should do as I'm getting ready to brick the phone just for the sake of it. I've had the Wizard for over 2 years and I never had 2 restore it once ... this phone is REALLY bugging me. I'm honestly thinking of keeping the wizard and selling this one on ebay for say £180 or something, just to get rid of it.
Also, I've noticed the battery is draining faster recently. The phone is about 5 months old.

Did u try to turn of the 3g reception?
If no, try to turn it of in settings/personal/phone/band and in network type select GSM(or in comm manager turn the 3G off).
Mikulec, you are a god ... I guess i'm just getting angry at the phone because I haven't even started playing with it yet and its just so much more tempermental than my old wizard. It was to the point that I am still using the wizard as my main phone and the newer tytn II just sits at home all day! As it appears so far though, it definitely has worked, so thank you.

happy to help u bro, the kaiser is a good toy, u just need to play with it.
This along with the faster battery drain is the first sign of a radio hardware failure. If in a few weeks you start losing network even with 3G off, or can feel your phone gets warm even on standby then you'll already know what to do... send it for repair.
When I send it in for repair, do I need to install the normal rom/etc? Before I installed the rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=416278), I had no issues whatsoever. Will they actually replace what they need to even if it is working under the stock rom?
Actually, I just checked with 3G off, and I'm still getting the same 3 beeps. Anyone know what's up?

My friend that has kaiser also and usually flash his phone once or twice a week and had it repaired alot and they have never said anything about his ROM
but then we live in Sweden and maybe we have other rules then you have
It's better to restore original ROM and SPL (there's a guide in the Wiki for that) before sending it back. Once you've done that you can check if it works again - obviously if it does with the original ROM then don't send it back.

no sound when receiving a message

I really love the phone except i`ve got the same problem as i did with the Diamond 1. When I receive a message the sound doesn`t go and it doesn`t vibrate but the green LED does flash. The second I turn on the screen using the standby-key it vibrates AND I can hear the ringtone. It drives me crazy. I didn`t have this problem the first couple of days I had the phone. I haven`t installed anything on the phone yet. Are there more people that have this problem?
Maybe it's a problem with other software? Does this happen directly after a hard reset? Mine plays a sound upon receiving a message...
have the same problem. but do not know if this started when i changed the melody for the message to one that is on the memory card.
have not tried hard reset yet to see f it helps
Do not store ringtones on the memory card, when the phone goes into standby it turns off the SD card interface to save power. The same goes for any programs that you want to keep running in the background when the phone goes into standby.
i face the same problem.... likely is the ROM problem..
not only that bluetooth also have some problem...
Are you using any call blocking / filtering software? Just a thought as I had the same issue after installing Magicall.
The device is as clean as a whistle
I haven`t installed any 3rd party software of any kind. I believe it is a flaw in the software. Perhaps this will be fixed a the next rom-update.
I also have this problem now. Yesterday I got an important SMS, but did know about it until 30 min later when I clicked the standby-key. The wierd thing is that this does not happen all the time. Usually I get notified within a few minutes of a new message. I do not have my sound files on the storage card. Any ideas how to solve this?
I get this problem too, and its rather annoying.. you could try setting the phone to wake on SMS, however, depending on your lock settings, it will probably wake up unlocked even if it was locked. I like my phone to be locked at all times unless I unlock manually or I get a call ONLY.
The reg key is
HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL\DisableSMSWakeUpEvent=0
Craig
Edit: if you go into Sound -> Notifications -> Messenging: New Text Message and ensure "Display Message On Screen" is unticked, it stays locked when a msg is received
i have this problem but with a hardreset solve my problem
Im having the same problem, ive got all the alert tones saved in the phone memory and have tried a hard reset too.
The reset improved things but still getting some messages being received without the alert sound being played, im assuming its a fault as several people are having the same trouble.
I got exactly the same
It seems that the problem only occures when you're not in the home screen. When i'm in the front (home) screen the sound works fine. But if i'm in the contact look (personalized look) its silent.
Can someone confirm this?
The same problem also with vibration....
It must be a softwareflaw, i can`t wait till HTC gives the first rom update...
Does somebody know how long it took before the first rom for the diamond 1 came available after its release?
I've only used Radio 3.44.25.27 from the new HTC Asia ROM for a day so I can't be sure, but the random problem of no audio/vibration alert that I used to face with Radio 3.43.25.19 seems to have gone away.
Having the same problem except mine plays the tone but doesnt vibrate!!!
Any news about this topic?
I had this problem also until I enabled SMS wakeup as per craiglay's post
These things should be fixed by HTC if u ask me. Workaround is great but I;ll wait till a hotfix is released

Major problem making and recieving phone calls

I've had this problem with my phone for a few months now and I've determined its not specific to any certain ROM. Currently I'm running Manup's eclair ROM, but I've had this happen on every rom.
The problem is that my phone will ring, signaling someone is calling, but will not show who is calling for a good 3 or 4 rings, then when I try to answer it (using the hard keys or the answer button on the screen) it does nothing. Then it goes back to home and says I missed the call.
After this happens I am unable to make any calls after, and the phone seems to reset it's signal, or sometimes the whole phone will reboot. When i say reset it's signal I mean that the phone will lose service then find it again, as if I were to change the data connection speed (2g or 3g) in the settings pane. Then for a good 5 mins I am unable to make or receive calls, dialing a number and pushing call does absolutely nothing. Then suddenly it will all start working again.
Its very annoying and usually happens when the phone is sitting idle, but I've had it happen when I've been using the phone, like typing a text message. When it's ringing I will sometimes get force close message saying that the phone.apk process is not responding, which makes me believe that it's just a problem of the phone app not getting enough resources, from the cpu or ram, to run properly and causing it to time out.
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

[Q] Can't answer calls, problem appeared out of nowhere

Hey
My dad is using a Samsung Captivate which has been updated to the AT&T's gingerbread. The phone is rock stable and ran fantastically for almost 4 months, until yesterday. He has been complaining that about 7/10 incoming calls he was not "able" to answer. I tested it and found that when someone calls the phone, the incoming call screen that shows the caller's name/number/picture, accept and reject sliders, speaker options etc. does not show up and instead the phone just rings and there is no way to answer call. I restarted the phone and the problem went away, however I would like to know why this problem suddenly appeared, and are there any chances of it appearing in the future? My dad is definitely not a tech-know-how person and this captivate was a gift from me so I would really appreciate some insight on this problem.
PS: Also, could it be possible that another application with dialing capabilities could be causing this problem? We have Skype and Mobile VOIP installed, and have had it since the day he got it. Just as a precaution I cleared the defaults and made the phone+dialer the default for making calls. Been about 5 hours or so and the problem has not re-appeared, yet.

I had nearly the same issue, except mine got to the point where the speaker phone didn't work either. Music played fine, phone calls stopped working. I went through a lengthy process of accidently deleting everything I had on my phone, which lead me to buy a USB Jig, install the stock ROM and it worked perfectly. I would suggest trying this before you try and physical fixes on your phone.
