New Sense UI on HTC hero? - Touch HD Windows Mobile ROM Development

anyone seen this yet?
i have and it looks tasty
if u havent check it out here
http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/24/htc-hero-details-begin-leaking-from-htcs-own-website/
any thoughts on this being ported to a winmo HD?
because it looks so much nicer than touch flo?
post your thoughts people.

My thought is that it will not be ported. It's running on android, and uses android interfaces to communicate with the device.
We could only dream that at some point our blackstones will be able to run android.. These new android phones are starting to make me regret ever getting the HD

According to the HTC press release, HTC Sense will appear on ALL future HTC phones. This should mean that we will see it on Windows Mobile phones soon. Maybe then we will see it ported to the Blackstone.

regret getting a blackstone! take a look at what u just said and re think it! lol

Yeah, I'm a sinner, sorry
bad bad bad abats!
/enjoys blackstone again

Microsoft is so slow on moving with things
Android really looks like taking off. the only thing that prevented me from going android is that it seemed very bandwidth heavy. now seeing hero and android apps ahhh.. what are they doing at microsoft!! come on guys make it easy for me to develop apps!!! get your marketplace going !! come one balmer get onto a stage and do a crazy and get us excited about windows mobile again. wm6.5 is such a cop out.

but why do all android phones have a huge chin! thats another thing letting them down in my opinion, that and that so far they are only on t mobile and voda in the uk......No thanks!

yepp....windows mobile is dying slowly That why my Blackstone is my last WiMo device...iPhone and Android have a bright future...WiMo doesn't.

after more looking this new UI is so nice, widgets and everything, better contacts management and stuff. i want i want i want! please be on a winmo device so it can be ported

android porting to HD is being worked on.. lets keep our fingers crossed

HTC SENSE, looks interesting Let's wait for new cooked rom

lol, maybe chefs here can cook up something =)

Now THAT'S some serious ui!!
Can't wait till some xda-blackstone-chef gets his hands on this one...

it is coming to Windows Mobile accoring to this...http://wmpoweruser.com/?p=5239
crosses fingers for an HD port!

I have to say that this HTC Sense UI looks great and seems to be very user friendly. I believe that sooner or later we will have "Sense" on ours Blackstones Patience...

the htc hero version can't be portet...even if android is running on the blackstone....there's a resolution problem...cause specs are as follows:
Inside you'll find Qualcomm's MSM7200A proc running Android at 528MHz, 512MB/288MB ROM/RAM, 3.2-inch TFT-LCD with 320 x 480 pixel rez, 900/2100MHz HSPA and Quad-band GSM, trackball, GPS, 802.11b/g WiFi, 3.5mm audio jack, G-sensor, compass, and 5 megapixel auto-focus cam with microSD expansion. It's all there baby.
But this ui will be available for windows mobile too...so I guess we will get a working version by the end of this years (at latest!!!).

HTC First Look Video of whats to come.....
Full promotional video from HTC can be downloaded HERE
VERY Impressive!!!!!
Expected UK Release Date 3rd July
I think this will be my next "adventure" - the main constraint for me will be Blackberry support though.....
.

Looks like Point UI.
But it is smoothhhhhhhhh! Please port ass soon ass possible!!

the new ui is based on manila, the only difference is layout.
you have to think, the original android UI is used on all previous android devices.
this is the first UI built by HTC for the android OS.
so can be easily built for WM by HTC.

so glad i spotted this and posted it before everyone else did lol

Hello everyone,
I am just curious to see how many of you want android or windows mobile on thier phone. As your voting will help developers to speed up and contribute much faster.
If its not in the right place to be, just move mods.

Ha Ha !
Nice one Xmoo ... But Vote
i voted. want to see android running on HD.
i dont want wm6.5, , a little more shinny UI but useless. .
i want WM7
I also want both.. If I wanted only android I would have bought an android device, and it looks easier to get android working on a winmo based device than the other way around
and offtopic
6.5 is a bit more than a shiny ui.. kernel is faster and more potentially much more stable than 6.1
Android
Android
android forever
Windows Cuppycake
It would be WM...but i want both ^^
Unless I'm mistaken, the latest Android is neither "cuppycake" nor 2.0. It's Android "Cupcake" 1.5.

yeah.. android 2.0 with Rosie Gui
Android.
Debating between TP2 and MyTouch (magic)
Considering we already have WM6.5 running pretty well it has to be Android.

lol .. i know but it sounds better isnt it
i think someone from google should see how desperate we are to get the android os running on our HTC Touch HD , i hope none of the MSFT staff peeks into here, guess they will all be hiding thier heads under thier arms , damn .. 30/138 that sucks big time MSFT !!
I put cupcake on my G1, and put 6.5 on my Blackstone. The blackstone works great. My poor G1 stutters, spits, and freezes. It's all but useless!
This is my own personal expierence. I had such high hopes for the Andriod upgrade. I really hope other people have more luck with the cupcake than I have had.

You can go for Android "Donut" 2.0
gimmi android
I like WM6.5, but i have never played around with Android.
Soooo, i voted Android.
Android!
I don't particularly feel the "rush" with WM anymore.. it become "plain".. Almost boring during the years.. I want a new experience.. new "adventures". Shamed to admit it but leaning towards the nemesis.. apple.. If it weren't for the poor screen resolution I would have gotten me an Iphone.. Probably going to start with a Mac Air and go from there..

Which mobile system will you choose next time?

Which mobile system will you choose next time?
We'll see which system is the most future-oriented
hummm im the 1st to vote and post
android for me.....from now on!
mmmmm...
Perhpas later Android once it gets a more mature and solid OS, but for now and mybe 2 or 3 years I´ll stick with WM, waiting that wm7 really can be something with quality
my android is on the UPS Shipment as we speak so Android for now
I'm keeping WM
Android has a lot of possibility and it's an interesting SO: in future I'll see it but to now I stay with WM.
D'rath
WM (WM7 as next) althought Im all about entertainment and Iphone (MacOSX) would be much more suited for it - I dont like apple that much to spend money for it (only if someone would give me a iphone a s a present!! ) or get MacOSX on HTC Touch HD
i'll stick to winmo for sure..
winmo for now, but i'll stick to android after i got qwerty slider keyboard

i got this nike as a gift, and i couldnt choose the one i liked LOL
i'd like to have left/right sliding keyboard like touch pro, uni, etc
wld take sometime to upgrade for me ( faster if my elf goes crack), i'd probably go for Android unless WM7 does wonders!
I haven't been able to put my iPhone down since I got it, sticking with it.
Probably Android with either Moblin or WM as future candidates.
For me WM when it comes out the HTC Leo will be my next phone
Wifes has a iphone 3G already (which is jailbroken and unlocked for different carrier) and at first its a novelty then after a while the novelty wears off and its me who is stuck with the crappy itunes software for putting her music on it, itunes is the main reason i would never have an iphone myself I hate it.
Android as of now. We'll see what WM7 is like when it appears.
You really should have added an option 'I don't know!' as im in that one. No networks in the UK really support the TD2 and TP2 so hmm, still looking towards the hero but i don;t know if ill miss the tweaking and playing around on wimo is the only thing.
atm no vote from me as ive been like this for the last month!
Windows Mobile for me
WM
I'm a fan of WM from HTC (the best for the PPC). Waiting for the phone with foldable screen ... the rest we passed.

Android on Rhodium = better performance?

would android on rhodium provide better performance?? i mean the rhodium has a ok processor and a massive amount of ram but windows mobile is a huuuugggggeeeee turn off.
does neone think android may solve the freezing, locking and other performance issues?
Thx all for ur facts and opinions

I believe that's a fairly valid question, and might have been better to post in one of the Android for Rhodium threads, but I don't see the need to post such a useless reply glcK23...
On topic: I think Android would offer the TP2 better performance than the current WM6.5 builds, but there's still plenty of work to be done on the current porting project for the Topaz/Rhodium. And by the time a stable version of Android is available for us, we probably won't be far away from Windows Mobile 7. The chefs here making WM6.5 ROMs do a fantastic job at giving us great performance. I love my TP2 for what it can currently do, I'm not fussed about Android at all.

Yeah, it's pretty fast considering it isn't even fully using the GPU yet. It may be an early port still, but live wallpapers (my favorite is Star Field) run flawlessly and there's only a bit of lag. You know, you can always try it for yourself...

hmmmmm huge point there aight then im just gonna wait for wm7 lolz thx for your thoughts
I'm not sure it'd offer better performance to be honest (compared to a TP2 running Sense 2.1, not the very cool but slow and buggy 2.5).
I had a T-mobile Pulse for a while, and it has pretty much the same internals as the Pro2 & did not perform much better, and sometimes a lot worse & needed a restart to speed things up.
I'll be interested to try Android on the Pro2 again once it becomes useable (and it's getting there fast).
There's so much about WinMo being outdated and rubbish compared to Android & Iphone etc, but I don't really agree - set up correctly you can do the very same tasks just as well as on the other platforms, and sometimes WinMo is better. Only things missing are a vibrant application store & compared to the Iphone, the snappy performance opening apps etc.
Oh, and if you want Android and a device with a Keyboard & WVGA screen, you could always get a milestone?
I had the G1 and Mytouch since before they were released. Now i have the touch pro 2.
Both have positive and negitives just like anything. Android does slow down after you load it with apps..
But considering the touchpro 2 is the same specs as the HTC hero (unlocked) I would think it could run the android Sense really well.. IF it was built for android
Trying to make a phone run with a different OS than it was built for regardless of specs, will take a long time to perfect.
Just do what i do, Buy a phone, use it, than when your board sell it on Ebay. Than buy another one, I'm onto the N900 next.
Have fun.

{q} can we get flashable android rom

?????????????????
The Devs are working on this at the moment on some other devices.
It's a Fake! NAND storage is not aviable at Topaz in this moment!
Damn it, I really wish it would be possible already.
As shavenyaknz posted, devs are working on a flashable ROM for Rhodium. Considering the huge similarities between Topaz and Rhod, their work should be easily ported to Topaz when the time comes.
However, right now the project relies on windows to initialize a good deal of stuff so that it would work on Android. So it'll take a lot of work to succeed in making the Kernel initialize everything properly.
HD2 can do it , we can too
Winmo is better
Windows mobile is better than android any day of the week, unless you are at least half retarded. just enjoy the fact that WinMo is built by a talented company and not an overnight internet fad corp and shut the hell up! Anything Android can do, WinMo can do better. ipso facto. end of story.
Uuuh no, that is all based on opinion. Sure, the windows mobile os is cleaner and has other benefits (including, if you have HTC) HTC sense UI, but nowadays, people want a phone that can do anything, and, even you would admit, windows mobile has far fewer apps then Android (official ones at least) and Android is becoming quite common among the smartphone croud. I like microsoft, but even I think they kinda dropped the ball on this one. However, I do think that Windows Phone 7 is a step in the right direction.
HTC OS
Hey i had this idea for a few days but only now i found a chat where i can ask it. Is there Symbian os for HTC devices?; and if there is where can i find it(if there isn't then why???)

The problem on my topaz is, that the data.img gets too big to fit in the phone-storage. I cooked a WM6.1 ROM without any HTC-devices and the there was still not enough space on the device.
Maybe the developers of xdandroid try to change the internal links for data.img to the storage device. This could work

Android is better. I've been winmobile ever since the Orange SPV and imho Android ****s all over winmobile (except 7). I can't wait until I can flash android on my TD2, tho I'll probably have saved up the cash for an HD7 by then!

I Moved from Android And Love WP7 Personally, But You should look at the features that you need and use in android and find out if they are present in WP7.
Personally I know you'll have a shock when you notice how 2 phones with the same processors act differently, WP7 seems to really utilise the processor for speed, I sat in an o2 store using both models and within 10 minutes I knew I wanted the HD7.. It just felt more fluid and I like the way that it seamlessly integrates everything
WP7 is very pleasing to the eye and personally I Like it, but if you're gonna miss the features in Android i'd suggest don't move.
If you update to the developer build of mango you would get to see the shocking speeds of that too, it seems to make the phone even faster, and not by just a little bit, by a heck of a lot!
The apps are pricey however, one of the setbacks of the Xbox live system and the fairly new operating system sadly.
These are my opinions on the phones, but personally you might think differently
Thank you for your input; I've was always into WinMo and moved over to Andriod.
Didn't give WP7 a shot yet, though I must admit that it seems to be more faster and fluid than andriod. The applications are my concern..but I do need a change
let's see if anyone else would like to share their experience...
EDIT: does WP7 support VOIP/SIP?? That would be a deal breaker for me.
Thanks.
Hi,
Android graphically resembles a little win 6th. It has great potential but they really are useful for small percent of people. WP7 is a new OS, still far from perfect, but moving in the right direction. It is good that Nokia will work. This will force the great progress and I think at the end of the year we will already have a good system.
Personally I have HTC HD7 and HTC IS and I am not going to get rid HD7.
