New!! WINDOWS MOBILE 6.5 "23017 R2" SYS/XIP ROM ~ Updated: 8/6/2009 - Palm Treo 750 ROM Development

No longer available. All links to content are dead. Sadly, I do not have a backup of my work for the Treo 750. Sorry Treo 750 users, it is time to close this chapter!

When you flash this ROM, it will come with the default Indigo theme, there is nothing wrong with this theme you can just switch to another theme afterwards! Also this ROM takes a while to load, it is 23XXX build which is newer and takes a while to load at first! When you get into OS you will be confronted with the OEM help screens, just skip through them, everything will be fine! I am still working on this ROM so I might post updated version soon

Nice work, i am downloading it.
Does the Powerbutton lock the Treo?

What a nice WORK!!!
All the Hermes forum is supporting your work dude! keep it up!
I see that you fix the radio is this true?
hope you can make things works for the next releases!
+Que PPC Congrats!

It works great, but
-how can i adjust the brightnes (fn+p doesnt work)?
-the taskmanager dowsnt open by pressing fn+ok
-i cant hang up calls???

Remember that these builds are for testing purposes There will be bugs. This is a chance to try out the latest WM 6.5 builds on your Treo. I will make more builds and post them so you can try them . Just be patient while I build them.

ROM updated, download the new copy. Should be more stable and hopefully some bugs fixed.
Remember to change your regional settings after you boot! Settings > System > Regional Settings. Also set regional clock to h:mm:ss tt for 12HR time! Reboot all should be well

I have found this ROM to be very snappy. It works very well speed wise with no lag. Wait until the tutorial pops up and quickly go through it. Then it works perfectly. To lock the device, just press the white (fn) button and the end key. I understand that this build isnt perfect and am willing to deal with the small problems.
Warning: Back up cause I lost all my contacts and calendar info. Pretty much all my personnel data. Luckily i did backup.
UPDATE: This is talking about the ROM before navendrob did his first update.
UPDATE #2: The buttons settings do work. Had to soft reset a couple of times.

I dont know if this is just me but my phone wont boot into the OS after your new ROM. It could be that it got corrupted during the download and extraction can someone else check. I still have the original if you need it.

I'll take a look when I get home from work I just flashed it and it work OK for me.

On your first ROM, is there a way to disable the lock where you must press the center button. I use s2u2 and that is messing it up.

You can adjust brightness by going to Settings -> System -> Brightness
also, check the buttons setting for the fn+ok at Settings -> Personnel -> Buttons
I cant hang up calls either. The talk screen doesn't come up.

Moreover, on the time issue where it is at the 24-hour clock. I couldn't find that option in regional settings for English (US). The only time settings had a 24 hour clock. I switched it to English (Canada) and was able to just the time and date settings to match standard US formats. Hope this helps.

I am going to try another build and I'll exclude the auto-lock.
Also remember that our phone is over 2 years old and this isn't supposed to be on our phones so not everything will work correctly... until I fix them

I am actually expecting bugs. I am just trying to point them out so more talented people like you can fix them for others.

Looks Great Thank! but I cannot set the ring tone (Always Blank!) every time I go to save it switches back to NONE
UPDATE: cannot see my SD card either?
I'll try soft resetting, is that done by pressing the reset button next to the SD card slot?

Try a soft reset. That fixes some bugs. I don't experience that problem at all though.

yup, cannot see sd card, even after resetting via the button next to the sd card slot. I will have to go back to previous timebomb fixed version for now

Thank you! I'm working on some builds now to release later this morning. Around 9AM-10AM EST.

Attention everyone! I managed to port over 21828 OFFICIAL RELEASE tonight to our beloved Treo! Look for it the AM
This release is stable, fast, and smooth. It is the official release build (as far as I know). I managed to rip it from Topaz ROM and port it to our phone. I am excited about this!
Now to fix the stupid keys If anyone has a numeric key listing for the Treo keypad I could really use it!

6.1 T-Mobile Edition, Bug Discussion (NO POSTING PLEASE)

##############################
Well If you enterd this thread, You probley figured out that we have a 6.1 T-mobile edition rom thanks to ND4SPD. How ever at the moment it is limited to a small group to test. At the same time I hate using the PM system when multiple ppl are testing anything. So I made a thread were WE (the TESTERS) can discuss and post fixes for this rom so we can get it released to you (THE PUBLIC) soon. I ask please, PLEASE, Do Not Post in this thread UNLESS you actually recieved the test rom from nd4spd. When a nonsence post is posted it makes it harder for us to concentrate on working on the rom when we are answering your questions.
#1 Question to be posted in this thread is...
Q. WHEN IS THIS ROM GONNA BE OUT ????????
A. AFTER WE FIX BUGS AND ND4SPD FEELS ITS READY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
##############################
On to the post.
What I have found so far..
1. HOME Messages Tab crashes NEO when enabled.
Installing my cab of 4.0 Arcsoft mms did not help this problem.
2. HOME My Faves App does not work, but My Faves settings will run.
I have not tryed to fix this.
3. HOME Notification Tab does not open the text its notifing you of nor does it dismiss the text by pressing dismiss
I have not tried to fix this
4. HOME Wap Shortcuts cannot find winwap or one of its components.
I think adding regisrty values for clinks instead of using the guid will fix this.
5. HOME Settings tab doesnt include battery display
Figured out why but dont have a fix. Im missing HKCR
6. Start Menu Recent Programs includes 2 shortcuts that do not work (Instant Messaging.lnk and Task Manager)
In conveinence untill you open 9 programs to get these off recent programs. These programs work when using the shortcuts in "all programs"
7. PIE Favorites & History when clicked open file explorer. instead of drop down menu.
I havnt looked into this. How ever ive had the problem before and its usually the html file being used.
8. WAP BROWSER says my homepage is unavalible (but the default t-mobile rom told me this as well)
I dont know if this is just my phone, Feedback needed.
9. UNLOCK SCREEN still does not show clock and date when set to
Seems like we are going to have alot of fun with this one.
10. HOME Getting Started is not displayed.
Simple menu added to the registry for neo will fix this.
11. PHONE Can not initiate call by dialing number and hitting send key. (have to hit center button on D-Pad)
I have no clue were to start looking on this one.
12. MMS Does not work
SMS Works fine.
--
I have not tested WIFI or BLUETOOTH
ND4SPD said neo is looking for arcsoft 4 but arcsoft 5 is on this rom wich is why the message tab isnt on the neo homescreen.

5. HOME Settings tab doesnt include battery display
The battery in the settings tab is not showing up due to the ID in the registry {634CA962-22D8-4671-BBC7-BAC47148A4B6}, When its switched to the wifi ID wifi status shows up on line 2 but the battery is displayed in the settings tab and opens power.exe when clicked. But when switched back to {634CA962-22D8-4671-BBC7-BAC47148A4B6} the battery display dissapears.

The html coding is causing the favorites and history drop downs from displaying correctly. This reg edit will fix this issue simply by using the default windows mobile homepage. wich is the same page but not skinned by t-mobile
Code:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\AboutURLs]
"version_0409"="[URL="file://windows//default_0409.htm"]file://\\windows\\default_0409.htm[/URL]"

shadowmike one of the biggest problems I am having is it locks up on the home page and did you nodes win going in to
internet explorer and hitting favorites or history it brings you to the windows folder
I think there are two ways of solving the problems:
The Easy Way:
Just use the wm6 OEM files and use all wm6.1 SYS files except CHome and ConfettiCore
This will get a working rom quickly but the problems we have now will still be there if we try making separate organized packages for each software.
The Hard Way:
Fix all these bugs one by one until assured to work and only then post a public rom. This means that the rom will take a longer time to release.
I prefer the hard way, but am open to the easy solution. What do you guys think.
btw, thanks shadowmike for making this thread. PM'ing was pretty tedious

Explain lockup ? as in freeze. And how do you get it to freeze ? Are you switching home screens and when you try to get to homescreen you cant ? what apps are you running on the rom ?
and #7
it just freezes by scrolling down it .well as there is so many bugs I am running no apps and by lockup I mean the home screen freezes so you can't scroll it but you can go to start and to other app but the home screen stays locked till reboot are you having the same problem if not I will try to redownload it and reinstall it... nd4spd did you work the bugs out of the new way of installing from the T-Mobile rom if so I will give it a go and I would like to see a stabile T-Mobile wm6.1 rom with out neo first thin work on this but you are the cook not to say I would use it I like the clean wm6.1 I have......i would like to see UC (user customizable) 2.0 Capable in the clean rom

I have not had your "Freeze", however since the shadow is underpowered. when i switch homescreens if i dont hit end call or the home button before it starts to load the homescreen i have to restart. however this also happend in the official t-mobile rom.
Small bug I noticed is when you set your calendar view to default to month (say), it still only opens to agenda view.
Not quite sure what received from nd4spd means but with a few hacks this is a great rom.

It means he pm'ed a few ppl a link to a new 6.1 t-mobile NEO homescreen rom.
From what he told me it was not publicly released... so if he did not send you the link to this rom and you have it. somone leaked it... thats what it means. basicly. I dont want ppl that dont have this test rom to come in this thread and ask questions and make this thread 10 pages.
How is the process going Guys.
well i decided to come back and work on this again.
im currently installing the rom. simply because i want to use the portrait camera. and since it works flawlessly in this version. yeah.
Yea Mike, what I been wanting is the original T-Mobile screen back.

[BETA RELEASE] WM6.1 T-Mobile Edition

Well, since most of the beta testing team is really busy, I thought it would be ok that I post my newest build of WM6.1 T-Mobile Edition as a public beta to get more feedback:
Features:
All the T-mobile bloatware!
NEO interface
All WM6.1 features except sliding homescreen
Working portrait camera!
Problems:
Sliding homescreen doesn't work
MyFaves locks up homescreen - Recommended to disable this
When Messaging tab is enabled it kills neo interface
Installation:
If on T-Mobile ROM:
Run CID Unlocker.exe and then run window mobile 6.1.exe
If on custom ROM:
Run windows mobile 6.1.exe
DISCLAIMER: This build still has many bugs and quirks that a lot of people do not want to deal with. This test is meant for people who understand this and are willing to give some type of feedback or suggestion that will push this rom closer to release.
NOTE: If there is a non-working neo tab, you will need to use a registry editing program to disable the tab.
Download link: http://www.sendspace.com/file/snvdw5 Should start with Neo automatically
i'm excited. i've been waiting for it long time. downloading right now. we'll see
Yeah, a lot of bugs. no home screen at all. Favorites at PIE sends me to windows folder in file explorer, mms after trying send new stuck. I cant unlock it, have to reboot phone.
neo works if you disable CMessageNeo plugin in registry. I forgot to make the change. I'll make the change and reupload the version.
what about slide theme?
ok there was no questione. i missed that part it is not working
Do you mind posting the fix for the portrait camera, or tell me how I can get it? I have your v4.1 ROM installed, and have been *extremely* happy with it. I just don't like the landscape camera. Thanks!
Thanks for posting this. I'm waiting for the final release since my phone has to be in good working order for work. But I love seeing that progres is being made. Kudos!
does mms work?
if mms doesnt work you can just edit it yourself using his guide on the developers version of this rom.
one of the bugs i found was when sending/receiving an mms message the home screen would no longer be accessible. it would freeze on the message and i would have to restart phone.
also my wifi does not work...
Upgrade assistance
Hi there - I'm currently at the tri-color bootloader screen and am at a loss of what to do next to recover.
I ran cidunlocker, which had an error, but seemed to work. Screen went to black then white then nothing. I power cycled & it came up normally. So I continued.
I then ran the upgrade exe. It ran for a bit, the screen cycled to the boot loader, but nothing happened afterwards. Now on poweron, I get only the bootloader.
If I try to run the utility again, the screen turns to a progress bar (only) that stays at 0%.
I'm assuming that this is a fairly simple fix, given that the bootloader still works, I'm just not sure what it is. Assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Adam
If the CIDLocker had an error, then maybe you didn't application unlock your phone first. Did you?
If I were you, I would download the T-Mobile Update from tmobileshadow.com.
Then hit the two soft reset buttons and press the power button, you'll get the tri color flash mode screen.
From there, run the t-mobile update exe from your compter and follow the on screen directions.
Once your phone is running again. Do an application unlock, Cid unlock, and then flash your phone with the t-mobile beta edition. Though I really rec you to use the 1.0 Developer edition.
Sugg Change to install instructions
Thanks, Levis.
Looks like the problem was with my running of the cid tool.
i'd suggest adding in something along the lines of "Run supercid.exe, ignore the directive to reboot your phone, instead hit ok at the dos box. When your phone turns white, run the upgrade utility (while the phone is still white)"
I had a better written text on this before, but it got lost in an edit.
Thanks!
Adam
Bug reports
From my initial run through, here is what I've found. Should we post bug reports in this thread, or in the "do not post" bug tracking thread?
Also, if there are any known fixes or workarounds for these issues (esp the slider screen ones), please point me in the right direction!
1. Default (awesome) t-mobile slider screen:
1.A. *Text/MMS/Email is missing from the main slider screen.
-- Aah, that is due to what you meant on the 1st page of this post, where cMessageNeo doesn't work. Yup, I definitely confirmed that by enabling/disabling it using the CHomeConfigurator (cool tool) http://allshadow.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2105&p=15149&hilit=myfaves#p15149
1.B. [RESOLVED] * How does one remove the myfaves from the slider home?
-- Looks like one can use the CHomeConfigurator above or follow the instructions on page 2 of the mirror post to this one on allshadow.com - http://allshadow.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2450&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=myfaves&start=10
1.C. * When a new notification for a hotmail email message comes in, 'dismiss' in notifications has no effect, nor does hitting the action button to open it. Note that left/right cycling through the messages does work.
2. T-zones busted
2.A. * Running the wallpaper/ringer slider icons indicates that winwap is missing. Running winwap directly from start menu (at least after installing Levis' t-mobile tzones cab) works fine.
2.B. * I AM noticing that it error 503's if opened when connected to PC. Not sure if this is new behavior or not.
3. Messaging Options in Start menu
3.A. * appears that we can't customize or create new MMSC settings (options greyed out)
And for the hang when myfaves is clicked on - http://allshadow.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2450&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=myfaves&start=10
New Issue:
Default UI Actions
4.A. Using the (mostly) default screen, incoming caller ID for known numbers is white text on a white gif background, rendering the name of the caller very difficult to read.
I'm still using your original version which after a few tweaks works fine. Other than having to possibly tweak it (1.1 beta) more to get bugs fixed, which I don't have, are there any significant improvements to this 1.1 beta version? I always hated the neo theme as well as my faves and do not want to mess with this beta which apparently has now added them back.
If your revised rom has improvements as well as fixes for some of the above I would happily test it.
Thanks for all the hard work you have done. I am still happily running your last edition.
Everything seems to be working fine besides the msg in the main screen
You devs still monitoring this thread?
ND4SPD, Mike,
You guys still monitoring this thread? I'm wondering if the issues that we're reporting are being of any use in your future development efforts.
Thanks,
Adam
Yes, I'm monitoring this thread. Thanks for all the feedback! I've been busy again with a competition and haven't had time to modify the ROM. Don't worry, all of your input will be taken into producing a better test rom.
I've been collaborating with some people trying to get NEO on wm6.1 on other devices and they're having the same problems as well. Just a heads up, I'm pretty sure there will still be some buggy things until I can get the shadow 2 rom that has all the modified dlls for both sliding panel and neo.
Quick question, what's new/fixed in the "Clean Dev Rev1.1 BETA 1" that you have listed in your signature? Does the CMessage panel work in that version?
Great work on the first Clean Dev btw, I really enjoy 6.1 thanks. I just took the plunge on Friday and of course I find out you have a new version coming after I spent hours tweaking it lol.

TouchFLO 3D on Xperia

Hi guys.
I'm new to the Windows Mobile world and only got my Xperia X1 a couple of weeks back. I want to get the TouchFLO 3D interface on there.
However, I want to use CABs which allow me to switch to the TF3D interface and back out again to Xperia, rather than using a cooked rom.
I've looked around and at first it seemed fairly simple, but then the installation wouldn't work because the file didn't have certification security (or something like that).
I've seen articles saying you have to install older versions first, and almost all seem to point to cooked roms.
Does anybody know of a way to install the TF3D interface from a CAB file, and be able to switch in and out of it, like you can do with Spb Mobile Shell 3.0.1?
I have Spb Mobile Shell 3.0.1 and Spb Weather installed, but I really want the TF3D interface... the weather animations on it are absolutely amazing!
Any help will be very much appreciated. Thanks for your time.
Regards
Sonny
If you check out the stickies in this section, one of them is all about programs, panels and tweaks.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=441439
Going through it, there is a specific one about installing TF3D as a cab and then running it as a panel.
Wow! Thanks Zenith.
Just managed to install Touch-IT_Blackstone_Manila.cab and then TF3DPanelInstaller.CAB.
Works a charm. Exactly what I was after.
I'm now going to install Touch-IT_Blackstone_Manila_HD_FULL.cab and see how the applications work.
Thanks again for guiding me in the right direction, very much appreciated.

Issues With Right Selection Button
Not sure if this is a known and shared issue. Is anybody else having the following problem..?
After installing Touch-IT_Blackstone_Manila_HD_FULL.cab, my right-hand selection button (the one above the OK button) is not working correctly. E.g. on the Today screen, it does not take you to 'Contacts'.
The left-hand selection button is fine, and it does correctly take you to the 'Phone' screen.
The right hand button is functioning though, but it seems to just be working like the 'Hang-up' button. If I go into an app and press it, it takes me back to the Today screen, and the app remains open in the task manager.
I got a little worried and decided to revert back to the original setup of my phone by using Sony's update tool. The right-hand selection button began to work fine again. After re-installing Touch-IT_Blackstone_Manila_HD_FULL.cab, I've got the problem again.
I'm guessing this may be down to a registry change. Anybody have any idea if and how you could change this through the registry, and which regkey to amend? Or is there a tweak/fix for this issue?
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Regards
Sonny
Sorted Button Issue
Hmm, after checking the button settings again, it turns out the Right Selection button was set to Today. Removed the selection... sorted.

this is a known problem for tf3d. correct me if im wrong but all the cabs and cooked roms has this issue. sure you can assign the button in settings but after you turn phone off or reset tf3d it will always reset right button to today.
untick tf3d 1st then extract and paste in windows directory and your problem will be solved. hope that works for ya

So this is to enable the right button to be assigned? Hmm.... kind of remember having that problem but somehow it was solved. Think with B2 of Daran's cab.
ManilaToday.dll Fixed The Issue!
Thanks Himuraken!
The ManilaToday.dll fixed the issue. Replaced the one in my Windows directory and now I don't have to change the button settings after a reboot.
And just for the record, Ipporek, I have Daran's B3 CAB and I was still getting the issue before Himuraken provided me with this ManilaToday.dll.
Problem sorted, now to look at installing the essential software cabs for TF3D. Installed Youtube yesterday, seems to work okay. Will check out some of the others later.

glad it work for you. i forgot to mention that credit goes to the person that provided this in the touch itJe v7 thread. not sure who it was so please forgive me.
Hi, it is my first post in a long time. Now I'm Xperia user.
I tried to download the today.dll but the link is gone. Additionally, my manila is not working: for some unexplained reason the program keeps trying to enter but did not succeed. It starts and then restart without opening.
Can somebody help me? I'm not inclined to try a Rom with manila for in that case I lose the "Ç" key and the letter recognition.
I use the Brazilian Sony Rom version from April 23, 2009.
Thanks, in advance!
Manila not working on Brazilian Xperia
Hi, this is my first post in a very long time. I tried to install this on my Xperia but got 2 errors:
1 - the right hard key problem and the file Today.dll is no more available at the said link
2 - the manila tries to start but does not enter. It keeps restarting but to no avail!
Please, some help is in order! I use brazilian Sony Rom and a cooked Rom is not na option since I would loose the hard "Ç" key and the on screen letter recognizer.
Also, I could not put the "Transcriber" to work.
Thanks

@chefs: reward offer for "task-snoozing"

Dear Chefs,
thank you for all great work you have done so far!
I use the Energy ROM for about two months and I'm stunned about all the great features he provide.
However, there is one thing I can't stand: The lack of appointment- and task snoozing other then 5 minutes. This makes the remind function almost useless.
My German t-mobile branded TP2 (called: MDA Vario V) came with the option to snooze appointments and tasks by a selectable time. So I could choose remind me in one or half Hour for example or one day and many other options, rather than dismiss it over and over again every 5 minutes. This is really bugging me.
I found a fix from crackwhore but it seems to be not compatible with the current windows mobile 6.5 ROMs.
Because it is so important to me and, as I noticed, to many, many others I want to post a reward and invite everybody who want this feature to join me by posting how much you are willing to donate to the person who find a solution and share it with the community
A proper solution would be a fix that works for the latest generation of WM6.5 ROMs and it would be great to have it already cooked into the popular ROMs, including Energy ROM.
So if somebody finds a solution, everybody who joined me is asked to donate the promised amount to the person who provided the solution.
I start off with a offer of 10$
Feel free to join me and make suggestion.
And please be true to your word: Don't offer something you are not willing to donate.

You can set the "reminder" time as any minutes/hours/days when you add an appointment. Am I missing something here?
NVM, I solved it! I was able to replace the new Notification.dll that handles the notification bubbles with an old, stock one. See the next post for the solution I made!
Question
Did your stock German ROM have the notification manager, where you'd click the taskbar, and it brings up that full screen? And also, did it have the skinned notifications, like the EnergyROM does? Please just describe exactly how the stock ROM handled the notifications, describe it visually.
Information
I researched this for 5 hours, and I was trying to do this: I wanted to make the Notification Panel remain (Full screen when you click on Taskbar), BUT, I wanted to use the standard Windows Mobile notification popups, because those allow you to snooze better. Well, that's not possible, from what I could tell. It's either all or nothing, you can't mix Microsoft's and HTC's notification system.
Solution
So, you have to disable the entire thing, which means you won't have the finger friendly notification system when tapping on the top taskbar. You can find the registry to disable Notification Manager here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4125405&postcount=3
Advanced Notifications Power Snooze Appointments!
I solved it!! It's CABbed up, and available on my website, Wingster.
Get your solution here: http://thewingster.com/advancednotifications.aspx
And if you want to donate, then follow the link on the bottom of my Wingster website, or use this link: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=5401195
Maybe I should have waited longer, for the bounty to increase! Nah, I did this mostly for myself, but it did end up taking 5 hours! I hate registries!
How I Created It
I found the old NotificationLayout.dll, and used that one for handling the notification bubbles! This brings back the old WinMo notification style popups, but it also keeps the finger friendly notification panel! Win-win!
Imagine how fast the world is, I wish you could solve my break off with GF such a fast.
Have Fun, Cheers
Sunny
the solution that brings the old popups up, has been around since my touch x 6.0 and that is since december last year...
well well well......
Awesome. I had used the crackwhore one and it worked but this is better

Curious before I use this, how is it different than crackwhore's fix?

FYI, crackwhore's is a better solution it doesn't eliminate the repeat function so what happens you get the alarm one time which was just as big a concern that I've had with some of the ROMs.

Lol dam. Wasted that effort for nothin? lol. Well we can add mine to the collection of CABs that do the exact same thing as the other
Hi,
sorry for the delay, but university was keeping me extremely busy this week.
However I'm glad you found a solution. It's so unimaginably convenient to be able to snooze the alarm!
However would it be possible to add some options? There is still room on the display for one option isn't it?
Very handy would be having options like four and twelve hours (half day).
I would rather surrender 10 minutes while already having 5 and 15 minutes.
(or maybe better: surrender 15 minutes while keeping 10)
However the current stage of development is already great and of cause I will stand my word of donating 10 bucks.
I invite everybody who like this fix to also support him since he was fair enough of not "waiting" for the bounty to increase first and he's doing a great job with his website anyway.
Best Regards, Time
PS: You are talking about other - already existing - solutions? I only found crackwhores fix and didn't get it to work. Well now I have a great one-click-solution I won't surrender ... would be just interesting to know.

By next week I will flash my ROM anyway so I could flash the stock ROM in between and check if that helps. Interested?

Yea, flash the stock German ROM, and see how that operates. It'd be very interesting if they kept the advanced snooze options while keeping the slick notification style too.
I think that editing the DLL's is impossible though, but I guess it'd be worth a try. My initial goal was to keep the skinned notifications but add the snoozing. That'd be the optimal goal, and I will try to see if that can be done!

Yourestarted your phone after installing it, right? Maybe his ROM has some different notification system...I could try to look into it if you can confirm it still didn't take effect after a restart.

Yes I restarted the phone after installation but it didnt work
I would reeeeeally Appreciate it if you could look into it
You dont even need to make a .cab file, just give me some guidance on how to replace the .dll you mentioned in your post that worked

Well.....
First, download This File, unzip it, and place the DLL in the \Windows directory of your phone.
Now, here's where it may be different, apparently. Using a registry editor (like PHM Registry), try to find the string that is called CustomUIDLL and contains NotificationLayout.dll.
That string key should be located under HKLM/System/Shell/Notification/OEM, however since the CAB didn't work, Valkyrie must have changed the location of the registry key. See if you can find it. Once you do, change the string value to: "NotificationLayoutOld.dll"
Hopefully that'll get it working!

OK.
Under HKLM/System/Shell/Notification/OEM i have one folder named "reminder" and 3 other items named "default", " customUIDLL", and "userdefaultUI"
if i click on customUIDLL the string already reads "NotificationLayoutOld.dll" ( iguess from when I applied the .cab file) so there is nothing to change!
Also here is a screenshot of the contents in the HKLM/System/Shell/Notification/OEM/reminder folder that I mentioned above
should i be editing the autodismissextendedduration file?
BTW I forgot to mention that when i install the cab file instead of "snooze' at the bottom bar I get the "menu' on the right and also another symbol on the left (like a phone with an 'x' next to it" but if i click on any of them the notification goes away and does not come back
So in essence the .cab works (because it points it to something else) but the location it point to, doesnt contain the necessary file to show up when you click on the the "menu' icon or the other icon that comes up SORRY I DIDNT MENTION THAT EARLIER BUT I WASNT AWARE OF IT TILL NOW.....

brand new xperia restart problem

well, it's not that bad but my phone restarts maybe once or maybe twice a day when it's not in use for hours(standby mode)
i noticed it restarting on its own for about 3x
and i know it also restarts whenever im asleep since i have pointui(not activated and not the panel version) installed and when i check my phone in the morning it's on the activation part of point ui (which appears everytime u reopen point ui)
it's just my 2nd week of using this phone.
i've installed some programs
and never modified it in any way (except xperia tweak)
here are the programs installed
1.xperia tweak
2. panels (facebook, working growing, skype, spb mobile shell)
3. finger keyboard
and i notice that active sync is always open after the phone restarts.
here's my device info
firmware - R24A GENERIC_UK
and btw the today timeout is off
can someone help me to troubleshoot my device
tell me if its a hardware or software prob

so my phone restart again even with the xperia tweak uninstalled.
The thing about both those programs is that they provide an interface to change registry values. Simply uninstalling/installing another won't modify those values that you have changed, assuming mtechfan was thinking along those lines.
I think the only clear way would be to hard-reset, then add apps/modify settings & document them, and leave a day between making more modifications to see how the phone behaves with them.
If you go that way, I'd suggest you look through the available ROMs and choose one with a good reputation for stability, and build on top of that.
Surprisingly (? - or not!) the stock ROMs are not the most stable.

I use Vista Business on my work laptop to flash the ROMs on my Xperia, so it *should* work fine.
