Regarding Skype - XPERIA X1 ROM Development

So lots of chefs are cooking skype into their roms these days, and I was wondering if I could point out something that might help all of us.
See the big problem with skype for windows mobile, as noted by many other people on XDA, is that when in a call it plays the other person over the speakerphone as opposed to the earpiece. For other phones they have a workaround called audioroute, but for the xperia we get a nicer solution: Sony's Skype panel.
The Skype panel works perfectly without any modification as opposed to the annoying speakerphone junk of the regular skype app.
So unless there is something i'm missing, if the rom you are cooking is panel enabled, how about the skype panel instead of the skype mobile app

The skype panel version is simply a Skype app (with earpiece output support) + panel. So, you can still use the panel version without panel by calling the app directly.

I was hoping that was possible, but a few of the last roms I used that had skype installed skype still used the speaker. Is there a .cab that exists anywhere with the special xperia earpiece fixed version of skype that doesnt install the panel?

skype panel app fixed all things
but u can search a patch from xda forum for generic skype ...

Does Skype Mobile for Xperia have file transfer? (Skype 3.0 got it, tho).
But the Skype Mobile for Xperia version is just so much better with the correct audiorouting. I really wonder, why people are cooking ROMs for Xperia without the special Skype Xperia app.

Native WM6 Voip client?

All,
I was wondering if the built in WM6 Voip client can be activated or be put in if it does not yet exist in the WM6 builds.....
Currently I use Fring for my Voip calls, but I would really like to use the built in client for better native support.
Other WM Voip clients are also welcome....
Cheers,
HJ
Had the same problem i thought that the built-in VoIP client ships with WM6 but it didn't find it on my TyTN II, you can download it from here
ftp://xda:[email protected]/WM6VoIP.CAB
you can find the SipCofigTool very nice utility to config VoIP

Hi Mrabie,
Are you still using VOIP? Please confirm if it used the standard dial pad and if it also uses the front speaker?
Cheers!
There's nothing for the Kaiser that uses the front speaker yet.
Do we know what this is? I assume you mean Voice Over IP (WM6 Built in) currently uses the loud speaker.
One would assume the normal phone speaker could be used (since my old Hermes could).
Hi Guys
I am using my company's VoIP service though my TyTn II. Everything is great! And the voice is came out from the ear speaker.
I installed the SIP Config Tool v. 2.0.1 and WM6VoIP.cab
Thank you

I can receive a call but not make one.
when trying to make a call ; I get the error "Network service is not available. Try again later."
sometimes it has worked....
Was working perfectly fine on my hermes (imate jasjam)

Great!
I have loaded the 2 cabs and have made some minor progress.
If i reboot the Tytn II is says connected for a moment then it goes to 'searching'. This is over the home wifi network.
When i first loaded the cabs and tried to initiate a call, it did show my voip provider in the dial pad, but now i cant replicate that to test it actually works.
What should i do?
Cheers
Edit: it now says 'available' om the today screen, but i cant get it to dial out using the voip connection. Note that i have not set up dial plans yet. but i think i have made good progress so far!

tap on the name , it needs to show as "selected".
let us know if it works for you.
I can only receive calls.
interestingly, nothing ever arrive on the voip server when i try to make a call; i run my own voip server (asterisk) , and no packet ever make it to the server from the windows mobile device...
warning, numbers must be numeric only, no + or # etc...
Do you mean to select it from the 'Today screen'
If that is what you mean, then when i click on it it takes me to the phone settings tab for internet calling.
Mind you, in that tab it states:
Internet Calling
To set the calling network for your next call, select BBPglobal (my Voip account) on the Today screen.
options: whenever available
Only if cellular is not available
Never
I have it set to whenever available and have also enabled GRS/GSM calls as per SIP config 2.01.
Whilst it now always shows that it is available, i dont see how else i can select it.
if you move the cursor in the today screen to go on the voip plugin, press OK (the button, not using the touch screen) you can change the status to "selected"
Forgot to add: your SIP server must support g711 (ulaw or alaw) codec... none of the low-bandwidth codec work

I move the today screen curser to highlight the voip plugin, but nothing happens when i hit OK or press the big silver button in the middle.
Regarding the SIP server sip2.BBPglobal.com does support g711. Well i was thinking that the phone simply makes a connection to the wireless router (Asus WL500gP running DD-WRT v23sp2) and that would be it. I could be wrong but i think this way simply because i replicated the SIP settings from my ATA (Linksys SPA2102).
Plus i would imaging that when using the VOIP over 3G that it connects with the same settings from the SipConfigTool1.02
Have i missed the boat somehow?
can you tell us which version of WM6VOIP.cab you are using - as in my version the sound comes out of the loudspeaker instead of the earspeaker?
any suggestions?
Would be also interresting for me.
I've tested 3 Types of VOIP software.
- Fring => Comes out of the loudspeaker
- Pocket Talk => Comes out of the loudspeaker
- Prop. WM6 => Could not connect.
Kind Regards
Seppl
I can use Fring/X-lite but the sound comes through the speaker. The WM6 native client can logon but not make any calls (same message as the poster above). I think I can receive calls though (but I have not tried).

Hi,
the first link is about Hermes?! I tried it, but it creates two today plugin...why?!
Is it possible that on the latest Kaiser native ROM some parts of WM&VoIP.CAP is already installed even if there is no Internet Tab under Pgone Settings?
Second: I had universal befor and a cooked rom, and when I clicked on the today plugin I could select or unselect voip for calling. With this cab instead, if I click on the today plugin, I enter into Start->Settings->Phone->Internet.
Third: I looked at ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Kaiser/VoIP/ and there is a SleuthKaiserVoIP.cab...what is it?? Maybe the WM6VoIP.cab versio for Kaiser?

How many versions are there?
Codec ???
What codecs are supported by the built in VOIP? Maybe the issue of not able to make a call could be codec related like in any other VOIP softwares.

On my Diamond and polish provider SpeaQ works great - it opens and login to the sip network within 1-2 seconds Try search, cab is somewhere in the forum - I have downloaded it from reqall company site, but now it is no longer there

Can I use the second cam with Skype or MSN

As I just discovered that my providor doesn't support videocalls I would like to try to use the second cam whit Skype or MSN, anybody got this working?
Thanks in advanced
Willem
Hi,
No current windows live mobile client supports any (at least not realtime and integrated cam solution as far as i am ware.
You could however look into microsoft portrait, last version is Portrait_PPC_3.1_Beta.msi. its pretty outdated however and i dont think it will be developed, at least not in its current form, any longer.
We must install a program that follows the commands of the actions when the certain program is openned. Then someone has to install the program on HTC Touch PRO and to plug the TV-out cabela and to follow what commands it does. Then we can see which files have started and to transfer them to HTC Touch Diamond.
i have tried microsoft portrait and it did not work for me. also it was not using 3g camera.

My network is 3G and even HSDPA and thats the reason why I don't understand that there is no aplication which lets us use the camera under VOIP, that my providor doesn't I can understand thats just a commercial reason, but for Skype or MSN or whatever eplication it could be a killer app.

try vito audio notes
sorry posting this thread, didn't see the actual thread posting the solution for this....
I've tried IRC on both of my Tilts and my friend's device as well. It works just fine.
Go *HERE* its a simple registry setting that I made into a cab file. Recorded voice is alot louder than using ICR and theres alot better chance of it working. You can then use the free Voice Recorder included in all Roms or go for something like Vito Audio Notes to auto record all conversations to storage card.
Resco Audio Recorder works for me. If you try it, make sure you open th phone tab in the general options and un-check Record in back round.

[DRIVER] 2-Way In-Call recording on X1

Driver posted below is only for X1. Don't install it on other devices!!!
Don't know where should I post it, but I think it is more suitable for ROM Dev forum.
Everyone who tried to record calls on X1 knows that our phone records only YOUR voice,
and you hear your friend's voice badly. Driver posted below fixes this problem.
Installing:
0) Full backup (use SPB Backup, for example)! I don't take any responsibility for broken phones!
1) Install driverwiz_2wayrecording.cab
2) Soft-Reset
After that you'll get "Record" menu item during calls, also you will be able to use third party recorders like Resco Audio Recorder, Vito Audio Notes and so on.
Quality isn't as great as when you record only one line, but it is much better than it was before.
You are free to use this driver in your ROM if:
1) post a link to this topic and write a little patch's description in one of the first posts of your topic.
2) write author's nickname ("ultrashot" )
UPD (5th of september):
Added cab made by DriverWiz util, with it you don't have to install NewSDKCerts.cab, so it means less problems with certificates.
7th of september:
deleted old cab and certs, use only driverwiz created one.
v1.2:

Same to me, my X2 didn't have any audio when install this sdk.
yesternova, it is only for X1, that's why it is posted in X1 section.
Ethermind means that vulcan's dialer doesn't have "record" button in dialer (he tests it on X1)

Have you installed NewSDKCerts.cab? No sound (on x1) means certificate problem.
However I haven't tried it on stock ROM, only on ROM without certificate checking.
Thanks. I can finally record.
little update:
added cab made by DriverWiz utility, it should install better and more reliably on stock roms.
Thank you. My phone was ok with new cab, I dunno why i had problem with installed sdkcert.cab
ultrashot this is awesome! Unfortunately for me a bit to late as I have moved from the X1.
2-way-In Call for X1/plz specify engines for which these drivers are!...
Hello,
onto my Leo HD2 these drivers caused a complete fail of sounds, even phone didn't ring any more. So I had to perform a hard-reset, thus wasting my time. Fortunatedly Iade a complete system-backup before installing these not-functionning drivers. Please be so kind to tell in future, for which phones your drivers are written for. Thanks!! Inuli

On HD2 you dont need to modify the driver, just add this key and it should work!

MixModeRecord=1
Thanks, I have tested and it works on Laurenti's ROM.
Work on Jack's 5.x ROM too. Any idea how to decrease a little bit the other party voice level? It is recorded way to loud with too much distortions leaving no room for my voice. It's like 130% with 70% ! Maybe a tweak in registry or something? Thanks!
