Headset - myTouch 3G, Magic Accessories

Hello,
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170361323050&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123
Is this headset good enough? Because I went to the store here in Belgium and there they ask $ 18 for this headset, original of HTC.
They said 100% new high quality generic (non-OEM) for HTC, can this cause damage when I plug in this headset?
There are also for the HTC magic, I asked the seller.

PocketPCTechs Headphones Adapter - Caution

I'm not in the habit of complaining about ne1's products but this one takes the cake. This short note is just to warn my fellow forum members:
- In Feb 06, I got a new HP Hw6515 phone. I bought a bunch of stuff from pocketpctechs, screen shields, stylus and these headphone adapters that allows me to hook up my 3.5mm headphones and jacks to the phone's 2.5 mm jack.
- I have an 3.5mm aux input on my car stereo also and pocketpctech's angled 2.5mm/3.5mm adapter allows me to use the phones mic when I'm on the phone.
- One day, I find my phone's audio totally silent. Sure, it's probably the switch in the phone's jack which may get stuck occassionally and as commonly reported in these forums as well.
- Alas, that is not to be. This time the tip of the pocketpctech's phone plug has dislocated and lodged itself in my HP's phone jack. All attempts to remove it were furtile.
- The end result was a whole bunch of hassle, the phone can only be used with a bluetooth headset since that's the only thing that will bypass the phone's speaker output.
- I requested for a Cingular warranty replacement and they sent me a refurbished one. I was ticked off about the replacement but subsequent phone calls to Cingular did not yield any progress in getting a new replacement unit.
- I decided to sell the replacement refurb to a friend at a $200 loss.
- I called pocketpctechs and told them about the adapter, they apologized and sent me a replacement promptly.
- I then went out and bought a Cingular 8125.
- I was informed the mic won't work using these pocketpctech adapters with the 8125 but (a) I already have them and (b) the angled design places less stress on the phone jacks.
- Well, guess what? On week two, I took a call one evening and could not hear anything. That's right, I had earlier on, used another pocketpctech adapter, this time was the one in the car on my commute home. To my horror, I discovered the end tip of the pocketpctech adapter in my car was missing!!
- I attempted to remove the tip with an assortment of tools, screwdriver, wire e.g. to no avail as the whole plug itself was starting to loosen up.
- I later found out that one can access the plug from the battery compartment but at this point the plug was messed up.
Post-mortem
- I used the warranty service again and yes, I received a refurb one as well.
- I searched the boards for similar issues but have only seen one mention where the 'tips' may come off. I can only guess that with bluetooth, using the headphone jacks may not be too popular so folks may not have encountered this phone yet.
- I called pocketpctechs just to inform them about this 2nd incident. They asked me what I would need and I told them I don't want ne thing but just wanted to let them know so others don't suffer my fate.
- BTW, the $3 stick adapters I bought from a local electronic store are working dandy.
- The next day, I decided I will keep and use the refurb replacement one since it looks fairly new.
- I emailed pocketpctechs and requested for (a) replacement phone adapter (this time I will yank and pull to make sure it don't come off) and (b) a replacement write shield (except I would like the clear model).
- The following is her reply to my pain and suffering. Like I keep busted adapters lying around! If and when Cingular sends me a bill for repairing the phones after they discovered the tips lodged in the phone jacks, I'll be forwarding them on to pocketpctechs. I would be nuts to send them ne more money!
"We will send you one more PPCPADPT11. However, we will need you to send back all the faulty adapters you have received from us so we can submit them to our manufacturer. We need to have the faulty adapters back in our office before we can send you a third replacement. We have been making these adapters for years and never had this complaint. We need proof to show both my supervisor and our vendor so we can justify sending you three replacement adapters. Before we send you a third replacement, we will have our head technician inspect and test the adapter. It will not be faulty.
We will not be able to send you a C2 WriteSHIELD to replace the AG you orignially ordered. We can only send you what you ordered. If you would like a C2 WriteSHIELD for your Cingular 8125, you will need to pay for one. Please advise. "

Faulty Build of Diamond2 earpiece?

I have two Diamond2: 1st one has no sound in earpiece in July and the 2nd one has the same symptom now. The sound can be heard in speaker and bluetooth headset, but no sound route through the earpiece. Hard reset or reflashing the ROM did not recover the issue. I have seen other posts in different forum claimed similar issue. This makes me believe that there is Diamond2 earpiece build quality. Picking both Diamond2 to HTC and they just change the earpiece but did not comment about the possible cause of this issue.
Just wonder how many users have the same issue and need repair from HTC?

Yes, I have seen your mentioned post before I post this thread. My thread is mainly concerned about the build quality of Diamond2 earpiece seems below standard. I have also read your reply that Vietnam HTC service centre even acknowledged this is common issue of Diamond2 that I am unwilling to accept.
Maybe this problem is limited to just few of us.
I hope so. But I have 2 Diamond2 and both have to replace the earpiece. This is not a single device but 2 have the same issue. This makes me doubt about the build of Diamond2. I have seen in PPCSG website there are users having the same issue in earpiece.

Just hope it is only some lots have this issue, but not the build quality.
Diamond2 Bad Ear Speaker Quality
I have the same issue with my phone
The bigger issue to me is that I live in Costa Rica, so no way to get HTC support
I am trying to find the ear speaker to buy it online but can't find it
Does anybody knows where I can purchase it?
I'll really appreciate any help
btw, I am really disappointed with HTC, they have a lot of time in the market and experience to have this type of quality issues in new phones
I am also very disappointed HTC about the Diamond2 build quality.
Here is another thread that 2 posters (at moment of this reply) have the issue of broken earpiece.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=547235
I would expect more and more Diamond2 users will have this issue. It is the fact that Diamond2 earpiece build quality is below standard. As my starting post mentioned, my two Diamond2 ran into broken earpiece in different time. Time will prove. I am going to sell my both Diamond2 to other phone. Good luck to all of you.
yep min doesn't also work no more ..
another problem which i have is that sometimes the upper part of the screen does not work anymore?
Sounds like a select few are getting a bad batch or something.... A lot of people have had no problems at all, but some do.... hTc cannot be perfect. If you contact them by phone or email, I'm sure they will be glad to help.
did you use the wired hands-free that came with it?
this is probably caused by the bad usb connector
damn is sent the device to euro twice for the broken ear peace with the hard spl from xda and now the wont repaire it. Have to pay 400€ for a new mobo.
I still have the original rom..
Diamond 2 No Sound
It just happened to my Diamond2 yesterday. Still cannot get it fixed. Really appreciate if somebody or someone or even HTC itself could fix the issue.
Diamond 2 no sound
I am so pissed that my htc diamond 2 has no sound receiving or calling but the external speaker works. Got this as a present Brand new in box 2 days ago from hong kong and i live in Canada so I have no idea how I can get this fixed. I emailed the hong kong htc to see if I could purchase an earpiece to fix it hopefully I could or else I would have to ship it back to hong kong. Which if I ship by express one way is $60-$80 for a 1 - 3 day ship. If anyone knows where to get these earpieces and have any clue to installing it would be greatly appreiciated.

I just had the exact same problem with my phone after only 2 months!!... This seems to be becoming a common fault with the TD2. Very poor quality indeed. .
Hong Kong
90% of all Hong Kong Merchants are CROOKS! STAY AWAY
I ordered Hong Kong TD2 and it came with broken earpiece so next monday I hope it will work
We need to find out what these devices have in common so others with Topaz phones from the same batch can be prepared.
There is almost certainly a portion of the Serial Number which you all have in common; Part of it will link up with a particular build batch. If we can figure out which it's from, maybe we can take the info to HTC and see if they can resolve the issue / acknowledge it and get devices replaced.

It is not. Hong Kong is one of world known shopping centre and people may find many different outlet to buy for hugh variety of goods coming all around the world. I admit some of these retailers are not doing well such as re-selling such returned items to another buyer. Anyway, it is fault of HTC that certain batch, especially the early batch, may have problem in the earpiece. I have mine 2 sets both went into problem and repaired.

Agreed. There are users in such short period having defect in the built-in earpiece is very abnormal. I don't think it is easy to obtain such information. Remember TYTN II driver issue? HTC is easily evade from any liability and still getting hugh profit from selling later devices.
Mine too same problem. Happen about a month ago. Device is just 8 month old which i bought in Dubai. I am no longer in Dubai, so cant go for warranty. I tried with a phone shop, they said i dropped my topaz into water. wtf!!

There just generic HTC earphones, I'd sell you mine but in the UK but ah well
If you look on a place like eBay or Amazon you should be able to find a replacement pair, pretty cheaply too
On Ebay, there aren't any OEM HD7, they only have the HTC RC E160 from HD2, and i know the button from that earphone will not work with the HD7......
If i buy yours, how much would it cost for both earphone and shipping to US? Thanks!
what will you give me for mine? and we are in the same state im in spokane.

why not buy a iPhone supported Sony / EU / Shure handfree? much better in sound quality. I tested them in shops, they are working fine with HD7 (listen, speak, pick calls)

Do you have link for the item?
unfortunatley the HTC store is only available in europe. (if you change the country to uk you should see it). Otherwise amazon.com is your freind. or any standard headphones that you'll find in a store of your choice (a store with headphones in ist ofc )
I'm using Moshi Votex Headphones with inline mic, they are pretty decent, can be physically a little heavy but offer decent audio quality with quite good mid levels and highs, how ever the bass can become a little heavy at times; and BTW microphone button works fine without issues.

i think the quality and functionality of the earphones aren't good, so it's a great chance to change yours
cuz you can only volume up/down with that, not skip track, so buy a good one with more functionality and better quality ,

Headphones Warranty?

Hey guys.
My mom recently got a Sensation XL, and her not being a huge music lover, decided to gift me her headphones
I am using them with my SE x10 and yesterday, while listening to them, I received a call. I unplugged and answered. When I had finished I plugged them in again and resumed listening to music. However I discovered that the right headphone had practically stopped working (very low sound). It is very annoying and I was just wondering is there any warranty on the headphones? Normally I wouldn't be bothered but these are very expensive headphones to buy and you would expect a hell of a lot better build quality than to break after under a month..
So if anyone knows of any warranty regarding the headphones, please reply! Thanking you,
Cian.
warranty is thru your phone provider primarily but headphones get a 1 year warranty.
Monster themselves, after the space of the first year are kind enough that they will replace the headphones once, no questions asked, but a receipt is needed ( i dont know whether the phone contract will work in this case, as you have been "gifted" the headphones by HTC rather than purchase them yourself)
---------- Post added at 02:46 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:40 PM ----------
oh and also just for a heads up, monster are a great sounding headphone, but even the £349 Pro headphones they make in the beats range, are prone to being faulty.
I work at a retail outlet and over the last christmas, Beats by Dre were probably returned 1 in 10 purchases as faulty. Most of the time this was a problem caused by the wire itself rather than the headphone driver.
Thanks very much for the info! I had just emailed HTC support so I hope they help me out with where to go next.. Good to know they're covered atleast!
may I ask if it's iBeats or SOLO ?
urBeats, similar to iBeats but as far as I know you can't buy them, they only come with some of the latest HTC phones !
I had the same problem as you, called my phone provider and they send me a new headphone immideatly. Very happy with my new headphones, went from urbeats to a headphone! Very happy with it, came in a nice pouch, cable detachable, very handy to store it when not listening to music!

Earphones

Hi Everone, again i hope i am posting this in the correct place, my apologies if i havnt,
well I recently lost my stock earphones so wanted to buy another pair.
I bought some of ebay, plugged them in an the sound was aweful, I contacted the seller they notified me that i had bought the earphone for
a Samsung S8500 wave . Upon checking he was correct, however the headphones look identical to my originals.
Here is a rely to what they said, But can this be correct as i cannot see that Samsung would do this, Can someone advis me if there is a difference in the headset wiring.
Regards
Popps Thanks in advance
Hi,Thank you for the response. It seems you have ordered the wrong handsfree. This handsfree has been listed for the Samsung S8500 WAVE and not the Galaxy S2.The handsfree's look the same but they are wired different internally.Samsung do this to maximise sales on each and every phone model. This is why you are probably experiencing like a crackling and muffled sound. You will also notice on the bottom of your handsfree it has a gold jack with coloured rings which will be different to your original one.For peace of mind you can take the handsfree to Samsung and they will verify what we are saying. As this is a simple mistake we are happy to accept a return if you do not require the item.(Please note we normally do not accept returns on handsfrees/headphones).If you would like to return the handsfree then please advise and we will provide you with the returns procedure. We look forward to hearing from you.
