bluetooth keyboard - myTouch 3G, Magic Accessories

I ran across this http://www.mytouch3gaccessories.net/bluetooth-keyboard-b0056.html and wondered if any of you have tried it? I know at the bottom theirs a disclaimer that it doesn't work on 32b's but i figured i would ask around see if any of you have figured a way to get it working, or any other smaller bluetooth keyboard for that matter?

Scam
I will buy one and see if I can get it working. But I can't afford it right now. I'm waiting on a check from a guy in Nigeria who sent me an email asking me to help him out of a financial jam. Once I get the check I will buy everything on that website you linked to.

ive actually been looking at this same one for awhile now i and building a little somethingi am calling "mini mac" based from my itouch 2g 8gig and this is the one that ive looked everywhere and this has always been on top of my list... i think next checki will get it i think ive seen it a bit cheaper too.. well if i get it before u then i will update u on it and if u get it frist post it...... ooo and i plan on using this in my itouch computer, my mytouch, and ps3 slim

Enjoying the Logitech Mediaboard Pro
Ive been using Logitech mediaboard pro
http://www.logitech.com/en-us/keyboards/keyboard/devices/3616
for a couple weeks on my Rogers Magic 32a Running CM6
the board is great, Keyboard and touch pad is fully functional out of the gate.
and the MENU button on the top of the board opens MENU
the only issues i have are:
1. a normal keyboard does not have the BACK button, (i changed the android config file so that ESC acts as BACK)
2. The ON Screen Keyboard still pops up when selecting a text box
Be Sure the ROM you are using has a HID Stack installed for bluetooth
most roms built off of cyanogen's roms have this.

If you are after something small and portable I can recommend a Rii Mini Bluetooth keyboard.
http://www.riiminikeyboards.com/entertainment.html
I use it for HTPC but paired it with an eeeTransformer as a test and got keyboard and mouse functionality instantly.

I have a logitech dinovo mini, the most expensive useless thing I've ever bought. It works with everything BT, but it's just not practical: You're happily texting away and then you have to use the touchscreen for something like changing screens, closing apps, there's always something the bt kb won't do or you just don't remeber which key does what.
I tried using it with my deceased N95, with my computer as a "media remote control" for when I'm watching movies... It's inside a drawer in my bedside table. Beautiful thing, though!

What is new in the world of the Kaiser?!

The money I was going to spend on the Tilt went to my beautiful new 22 inch LG Monitor (W2252TQ - 270 at Best Buy - best monitor out there.)
So I looked up some news on it the other day, since buying the phone is in my sights again, and I saw that all kinds of things have come out for it. So what do I have to know? What about the battery? Any new killer aps? Slingbox good with it? What about a wireless hard drive I have, think I could get my Tilt to access it? What about my wireless printer, hahaha ok that one won't happen.
And wireless internet is 20 dollars a month? Is it worth it? Can i get it cheaper somehow?
WinMo 6.1 Official with Graphic improvements (maybe drivers), this month..
Some great Cooked ROM's
Some beautyful software...
fixes...
Android..
... Android...
xD
things like that ..
not so much ...
grrr 22 inch sounds great for xbox360 xD!
Cheapest internet is 15 dollars w/o text package. That LG is NOT the best monitor out there benq fp241 ftw
I'd like to know where you guys get $15 and $20 Internet plans?
As far as I know, here in Chicago you have 2 choices:
$30 unlimited data
$50 unlimited data with tethering (or maybe it's $40).
I see in your sig you have AT&T too... do prices differ that much state to state?

You put your sim card in a non pda phone. Call AT&T, tell them you sold the tilt and sign up for the unlimited MediaNet @ 15.00. Put your sim back in the tilt.
your done.
look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=388367
See here for a word of caution: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=391980
the prices are not different from state to state; its just that some people are getting data plans theyre not supposed to be getting. those $15 and $20 plans are for non-smartphone's (ie, those crappy flip samsungs, etc). many ppl use these plans on the tilt and other smart phones with no probs, but rumor has it that at&t does check and will charge you per kb of data that u used....its a risk, up to you if u wanna take it
The person referring to the $15 plan is on a Media Net unlimited plan.
That plan is meant for customers who have REGULAR phones such as the LG Shine or something.
The PDA Plans are $30 for unlimited.
There have been things all around the net that if at&t switches your plan back to what it was supposed to be, you get a rediculously high bill. But they may just be rumors.
Nonetheless it's kind of stealing b/c you're paying for the wrong plan.
The reason they charge more money for PDA data plans is because PDA's are MUCH more data intensive.
Anyway, my brother owns a couple Cell phone stores, and I've worked there for 5 years, so I know what I'm talking about.
The only way for you to have that $15 plan still is if
a) you got it more than a few months ago.
b) the person you bought your phone from stuck the IMEI of a regular phone onto your account as oppossed to your true PDA's IMEI. Doing that would cause the data plans that come up on the feature page during activation to be the $15 media net unlimited plan.
They changed their system so that the IMEI used for activation is what the features shown are based off of for the dealer's activation system.
c) do what the above poster mentioned by sticking your sim in a different phone claiming you are using that one now instead of your PDA.

Newegg's best reviewed LCD monitor has major defective problems. And most LCD monitors have terrible glare and fake refresh rates, fake 2 m/s, and a fake contrast ratio. It's all on a forum somewhere, I can get it if you want, but LG is definitely better. Plus it's Newegg review is pretty good.

jeffla i answered your question through PM. feel free to contact me again if you are confused. I was assisted greatly with this issue and I should pass on what I know and learned so far.
iv used the tilt for about 1 week now... im not too impressed by it...
except the GPS is awesome. i got TomTom with it.
other than that... it seems alright. not as user friendly as many of the other phones.. u have to slide the keyboard just to type something, kind of annoying.
the touch screen needs a stylus most of the times.. thats something i dont really like too. u could use your fingers or nail but still.
overall not really impressed with the WM6.1 ppc edition... i like WM6 smartphone edition better. also battery life is kinda ****ty on this phone.
its a phone for gadget lover types... overall good value for money.
LOL I've had mine since october. You don't have to slide the keyboard out all the time and my stylus hardly gets uses. I can even use the onscreen keyboard sometimes with just my finger tip. Seriously, how can you be disapointed by having to use the keyboard? Didn't you even see the phone before you bought it.

This all are just a matter of customization.
I am using resco keyboard and I can easilly type with my fingers.
Also using UltimateLaunch witch is really finger-friendlly. And there are also hardware keys - u can install quick menu, amd u can make almost everything using the keys.
As I said, its all about your customization.

As im sitting in court, reading these posts, im just waiting for somone to say the six letter word (iphone)
1. of course the screen needs a stylus, its a resistive display, you can however adjust the threshold to make it more finger frendly.
2. it is user frendly (if you know what your doing)
3. dont base 6.1 these are cooked roms and there are a bunch to choose from, if you dont like the user friendliness the go with a no frills version.
4. i had a crapple junkphone and now that i have a tilt i cant imagine how i even got by with a poopyphone, sorry iphone
5. this phone has a slide out keyboard, were???
6. scratch #5 i was kidding, of course you have to slide out the keyborad to type, unless you know of a way to type on it without sliding it out??
Look in all seriousness the Full duplex pocket pc communication device, we call the kaiser, is a great phone, a power house i tell you, you cant really appreciate it unless you have it. and of course everybody can find something wrong with anything they own, like my brand new (well slightly used) 2007 slk 55 amg mercedes benz, a small scratch on the wheel. And by the way the benq monitor is better than the lg.
So buy the damn phone you will be happy with it.
I was very curious about it's ability to talk to an Iomega "Wireless Hard Drive" that I have. There is software that you install on the computer and it can detect the drive over Wifi. Do you think the phone can do such a thing? Same for my printer?
Anyone here use Slingbox with it? How are the new homebrew roms? Any in particular I should know about?
Is the battery life REALLY that bad?
well i like the keyboard, i just dont like sliding it.
i'd prefer the tmobile Dash , blackbeerry, moto Q, type where the keyboard is right there.
the thing with the sliding keyboard deal is, once u slide, the screen changes to landscape mode, and the resolution or something makes everything a bit unclear to read....
also another thing with this phone is, when i plug in my phone to the computer usb , the screen is always on, it doesnt turn off at all. iv changed the settings to turn off, and it doesnt.
also the keyboard mapping is a little messed up... when i select @, it gives me ! etc etc... as far as i understand this seems to be a common problem with the original dash... its amazing how HTC, and ATT released a phone with incorrect keyboard mappings.
i dont know if it is Dutty's 6.1 rom or is it affecting every ROM... these minor software issues are annoying... how could anyone not fix them before releasing them to the public. another bug i found is when u select the Missed Calls section and then u hit the End Call button, the whole screen gets messed up and u can only fix it by hard reboot.

1. (wireless hard drive) if it is bluetooth yes, you have a bluetooth explorer folder wich allows you to use it as a virtual drive. I have a old pc with a 80gig hd in it i use exclusive for this. All you need is a bluetooth dongle.
2. (slingbox) tried it on edge (sucks) if you use it on 3g (great)
3. (wifi printing) I bluetooth docs to my main pc then print. I.E. excell doc's and word doc's. Thats a good question i can pair to my wifi printer but wouldnt have a clue on how to print. I would really like to be able, but never really experemented with it. I can controll my pc from my tilt so in effect i can bluetooth docs to my main pc then my remote from my tilt print from my main pc. So i really dont have to touch my main pc. (if you catch my drift).
4. (battery life) I am a heavy user, and i mean heavy. Usually i get 2 1/2 days without having to charge.
5. (homebrew rom's) ive flashed a couple times. but im satisfied with my att stock munus bloatware rom(works good for me).
Well both the printer and the hard drive are over Wifi. Does Windows Mobile work well with Windows programs? I would just have to move the .exe's (and drivers for the printer) onto the phone, I guess. It would really save space on the SD Cards.

I ordered one from DealExtreme but be warned that it might take a month before you get it in hands
SKU 13760
MSI BGP100 Bluetooth Gamepad (1*AAA Battery Included)
$25.10
Of course, you could buy the same thing from eBay - for $35
If you get the $12 EMS shipping when ordering from DX you should get it quicker too, it's the free shipping that takes a couple of weeks. I ordered mine yesterday BTW.
Max # of connected Gamepads?
Hello,
What is the max number gamepads that the HD2 can handle at one time?
Also, I have a BT keyboard that works great. Anyone used the gamepad and a BT keyboard together for multiplayer gaming?
I am planning to purchase a gamepad, and possibly more than one... would like to know soon.

There is an app that allows you to use one WM phone to control another and even use it as a joystick:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=634675
My current plan is to use an HP hw6925 as a joystick/keyboard for the HD2 (too bad I didn't find this software before I purchased a BT keyboard).
When I test the possibility of using 2 WM phones as joysticks for the HD2 I'll decide on still getting 1/2 gamepads.
Anyone got their pad yet?

Be very cautions with deal extreme.
I've ordered mine in the beginning of February because they said the item was in stock. "Item in stock" remained at the item's description until now and even after I tried to contact them since last week with no answer, the item's description changed today to "temporary stock shortage".
I'm going to try to buy it somewhere else because I won't wait so much time at dealextreme.

[Q] Before I buy..

I am going to Barnes & Noble today to get the Nook Color. I want to buy it so I can root it and use it as a tablet/ereader. Are the newest version of the NC's rootable or do I need to buy an older version off eBay or something. Thanks in advance!
No, you're fine. The current firmware, 1.01, is rootable. It'll probably come with 1.0 anyway.
If you want a great value on a quality android tablet, I don't think you'll be disappointed!

Yep - that's exactly what I do. Wireless Tether app (version pre-12 I think I'm using) works great.
While there's no GPS for navigation, it gets other location services from the network, so Google Maps and whatnot get my location to within 100 yards or so.
I’m using my DroidX to tether.
I don’t need camera and crap on the tablet.
I have NFS Shift running on mine flawlessly along with just about all the apps I’ve installed.
I think the new thread should be “what does not work”. Everything I’m using sems to work.

You may want to buy somewhere that has a better return policy, but thats really up to you.
When I was at B&N today just to look, two people walked in within 5 minutes with defective units...One had no WIFI, the other had screen issues.
They sent the guy with no Wifi home, telling him he must have typed in his password wrong...They would not exchange for him.. They never even looked at it.
They sent the lady home because she did not have her charger.
I JUST bought mine at Best Buy...First one had a dead dark pixel right smack in the middle of the screen, also had some dust and the flicker everyone mentions..
I exchanged it, however they really gave it the 3rd degree and looked like they did not want to exchange it..They pulled all the packaging apart, turned it on, went through all the menues, etc....
Second one is in good shape, but does have a stuck pixel that only is seen on a full black screen..I can live with that I guess.
Examine yours closely, because I have a feeling there is quality issues.
I would assume they are getting a large amount of returns now and are probably going through them thoroughly..
Alright thanks, I might consider buying from Best Buy then instead.
Just got mine Christmas Eve. I had looked long and hard at a Galaxy Tab. But at the price, I just couldn't pass up the Nook. With rooting, it is everything that I wanted in a pad. As mentioned before, coupled with my rooted HD2, it is an awesome duo.
And as a stand-alone, the Nook does everything I could want. It came with 1.0, but updating was simple. Auto-nootering was just as simple. AWESOMENESS!
Another possibility for the return scrutiny is that that B&N/Best Buy are now well aware of what many are doing with these, and are happy to sell more units--as long as it isn't causing them to lose money.
. . . And one way they could lose money is if people screw things up rooting and want a replacement or refund. Dead pixels have nothing to do with rooting, but the retail world could easily over-generalize as "don't take NookColor returns lightly."

Bluetooth keyboard for Verizon SGT?

Is there a bluetooth keyboard out there that will work on a Verizon SGT? Please help
Sent from my SCH-I800 using XDA App
I just bought a Cygnett Bluetooth keyboard for $29.95 at Frys Electronics today that pairedd perfectly with my SGT (T-Mo) and works perfectly well.
I dont see any reason why it would not work with all SGT's.
The thing I like most is it is small enough to fit in the Pelican case that I have for my SGT. I just cut the foam in half, removed the foam for the keyboard and now have a 2 layer foam cushion for the keyboard and SGT.
Well Verizon apparently went into the tab and deleted some bluetooth drivers so it will pair with devices but will not connect. I was just wondering if someone out there got a keyboard to work with their Verizon tab? If they did I would buy it in a heartbeat. Thanks though for replying
Sent from my SCH-I800 using XDA App
Sorry about that, I had not read any of the Verizon BT threads since I am with T-Mo.
I just dont get why service providers do this... If the manufacturer enables something, leave it alone.
I agree 100% my friend. I'm hoping someone will find something that will work. Thanks again.

I posted on the Verizon Community Forum and a Moderator said they were aware of the "issue" and were looking into it. The post is now gone. The thread may disappear too. It is a shame that they decided to remove the feature. I hope a solution is found too.

If it's due to a lack of drivers, would it not be possible to just copy the drivers from a model that has them?

Who knows? I'm just guessing it's the drivers, perhaps Verizon completely blocked the functionality at a higher level like they did with the dialer. Could be any of a million things and, frankly, $80 for a docking keyboard I could be using in an hour sounds like much less of a hassle.
Yea, same here with me, I'm not in the market for a bluetooth keyboard either, and would most likely be content with a docking keyboard, but it still would be nice to have the functionality there that was intended by the manufacturer. One of the selling points that my VZW salesperson used was the ability to use the Tab with a BT keyboard. I don't imagine he purposely mislead me, especially since I wasn't actually interested in a keyboard. Hopefully there will be a solution in the near future for those who want or need the BT option.
That's messed up on Verizons part. My Freedom Bluetooth keyboard pairs great with my TMo Tab.
FWIW. Freedom Pro keyboard works with my VZW tab.

Possible work around
I wish I could test this right now, but my Tab is back at Samsung being repaired. I have a generic mini Bluetooth keyboard that wasn't working with my Tab or my Captivate. I just got it to work with the Captivate.
I downloaded the drivers for the Freedom Bluetooth Pro keyboard from their site directly through the browser on my device. After installation I had to activate the driver through the "Locale and Text" option in settings. Once activated, paired the keyboard and changed the keyboard to Freedom Pro. Keyboard worked...
I don't know if this will work on the Tab, but i can't wait to get mine back and test it. If anyone gives it a try, let us know how it worked.
I tried what u said with my keyboard but it said since it a keyboard they made it wont connect. which one of their drivers did u download?
thanks
Freedom Pro will work, Sprint starts selling the keyboard for their tab (which is also keyboard locked) on feb 1st for $119.
Verizon and Sprint removed HID support from the Tab, and no HID keyboards will work.
The Freedom Pro's key feature is that it is dual mode: HID And SPP, so the SPP still works.
I'm not sure WHY they did this, unless they just wanted to be jerks. In which case, score!

[Q] Pocket Android Non-phone devices ??

Is there such a thing as a pocket size Android device that is not a phone - but has all the other features of a smartphone ?
In other words, a wifi-only Droid/Evo/Thunder/HD2 ?
I was struck by what someone said about the Nook Color, that they did not need the camera or the microphone, because their pocket phone has those things. I do not have a smartphone, because I do not want a big monthly data bill.
But I could use something that could scan UPC codes (or QR codes), take quick photos, and could do voice activated tasks that do not need the nice large screen of the Nook.
Thanks !

Maybe someone else can back me (or correct me) up on this as I'm just taking an educated guess here, but any deactivated phone would do this. If you're only looking for a wifi version, that is. You might wanna look into it more, but picking up an old Droid (probably pretty cheap) would work. You would have access to the market via wifi and all that.
yep get used droid, you can use its camera, gps, download textfree/pinger and get text messaging

If you want something radical try, www alwaysinnovating.com/products/minibook.htm
There is also the samsung galaxy pmps, www linuxfordevices.com/c/a/News/Samsung-Galaxy-Player-4-and-5/
Also look at Archos, but their smaller units tend to be resistive touch screens so check the descriptions well.
And finally a google search for 'android pmp camera' should turn up a couple hits.

This is my thinking on the matter, too and is the reason why I still use a cheap Chinese Windows Mobile 2G clone phone through T-mobile. However, I've noticed that Phone companies are starting to roll out small data plans for about $10.00 a month. That might be enough to get me to finally buy a smart phone, given that I'd mostly use WiFi for data.
Once tethering plans become affordable I'll probably go with that, but I'm talking $15.00 a month on top for data & tethering, and who knows when (or if) prices will ever reach that level (especially with AT&T swallowing up T-Mobile... yaaay, go duopoly!)
Samsung is making one galaxy player I think its going to be called

Too bad reviews say it is terrible
I would say simply wait for the Samsung Galaxy Player to actually be released, hopefully this spring.

I am now looking into this, there are lots of Droids on ebay.
I assume that "BAD ESN" only matters if you are going to use it as a cell phone, and for Wifi use, it would not matter ?
Also, I noticed in the completed listings that some with cracked screens sold for just as much as ones without flaws. Why is this ? Is there some easy way to get the screen fixed ? (Just curious on this one.)
