Though not necessarily my goal, I seem to be focusing on lockscreen mods/fixes lately. Not that I want to be known just for lockscreens, but hey, I give the people what they want .
See bottom of post for MetaMorph versions to make it easier to apply without affecting existing modifications.
I saw some chatter here about the Android 2.0 style rotary / dial lockscreen (see here), that got replaced with the current Android 2.1 style sliding tabs lockscreen, and figured it would be fun to take a look and see what may be involved in trying to port it over to our current build. Turns out, after some intensive code modifications, I was able to successful port it over .
Following are screenshots, and a link to a video, showing the "rotary" version of the vanilla lockscreen in action:
The video demo is jittery, as the screen capture couldn't keep up with the rotation. You won't actually experience this "jitter" in real-time:

This version of the vanilla lockscreen also contains the fixes for menu key unlock disable, removal of emergency call button after airplane mode (thanks flipz), and removal of the emergency call button on the footer of the keypattern unlock screen.
If you are currently running the stock HTC Lockscreen, you will need to move your HTC Lockscreen out of the way, via adb, so that the vanilla lockscreen is used instead, by doing the following:

The attached flashable zip is currently the "stock" version of the lockscreen (including the fixes referenced), however, I will also soon be posting textless and custom wallpaper versions, similar to the vanilla Android 2.1 lockscreen mods I posted previously.
You can flash the attached zip from recovery without fear of undoing any other customizations or themes you may have applied, since it only includes the 'android.policy.jar' file. My starting point was Fresh 2.0d, but this should work on any Sprint leak based ROM.
You may also want to flash flipz's zips for the alarm clock issues with vanilla style lockscreens. I have not tested this and do not know if the same issues exist with this version. I am assuming they do.
This should be considered a very preliminary version, and things may unwittingly break, but it seems to be working fine for me. Please report any issues you may have, and ALWAYS nandroid before flashing.

This will install either Aloysius or Expresso and does not install OpenGL "fix" so that you can run Weather LWP and limited Live Wallpapers at the same time. The update has a few wallpapers that I have tested that work fine without the OpenGL "fix".
I have tested this on Fresh 2.0d, DamageControl, and Aloysius, the new updates will uninstall the OpenGL "fix" if it is installed in your rom. There is also now an expresso version.

Ladies and Gentlemen, after a bunch of trial and error, I am proud to announce that I have achieved a clear lock screen for 2.1. I arrived at this starting with the Fresh 2.0d framework, but this should work on the latest DamageControl ROM as well, since they are both based on the latest Sprint leak.
This will provide a clear lock screen, as well as blank out the "Sprint" text above the clock on the lock screen. Essentially, allowing you to customize a clear lock screen the same way traditionally done on 1.5 ROMs.
Included is a transparent png for 'lockscreen_topedge.png', so themers who want to create their own graphics over top of the clear lock screen should replace this .png with their custom graphic. You can see in my screen capture below, I replaced it with my own custom team logo. However, as mentioned, the attached zip simply provides a completely clear lock screen with no image and clock / date only.
It should also be noted that since HTC has merged a few elements into a single apk, that to clear out the lock bar graphics, I had to include in the attached signed zip the 'com.htc.resources.apk' file as well. What this means is that if you have done any other customizations, such as changing your Rosie launcher from the default Fresh 2.0d espresso launcher to any other launcher, as well as some modifications to your taskbar, the attached will undo this and revert back (at least partially) to the original Espresso launcher included by default, as well as some stock taskbar icons.
Themers can take this and run with it to modify other elements as necessary.
Before flashing the attached zip from recovery, you need to either use Fresh's kitchen to clear out your current cached wallpaper (it will still work), or manually do so via adb by doing the following:

rm htc_wallpaper*
exit
Note: You may or may not have anything to delete in /system/customize/resource, so if you get an error message, don't worry.
Then, reboot into recovery, flash the attached zip from your sdcard, and you are off to the races. Enjoy!

So again, ONLY flash if you already have a clear lockbar. Otherwise, you will have to manually edit your com.htc.resources.apk file to insert the clear lockbar images (see post later in this thread)

I'm using the Droid so I'm familiar with it; however I'm certain that it can be done for other rooted phones in a similar manner. Although the steps at first glance may seem complex... it shouldn't take too long to wrap your mind around it a bit and you'll see that it is rather simple.
For the way I did it, requires root access, adb shell (part of the developer kit) and also 7zip (7zip allows you to modify contents of a zip archive without unzipping.) I also use Root Explorer (a paid app on the phone.)
First thing I did was copy a file from the phone to my computer:
/system/app/LiveWallpapers.apk
(there's quite a few ways to do this, I opted to use Root Explorer to copy the file to my sd card and then used the file manager on my computer to copy to my desktop.) You should create a copy of this file as a backup on your comp in-case you mess up :smile:
Once the apk file is on the desktop, right click > select 7zip > and "Open Archive"
So now you can take a look at all the files inside the apk. To edit them you will need to edit and save outside of the archive, and then move it into the archive replacing the original file. In the 'res' file are all of the graphics. I replaced the background with one I wanted then modified the color of the beads I followed the instructions here: http://alldroid.org/threads/16847-Ho...798#post576798
Once it's done you need to push the LiveWallpapers.apk file back and overwrite the one on the phone in the /system/app/ directory.
That's about it.

Custom Clear Lockscreen -- Tutorial Soon
FIRST ATTEMPT
I've made my first custom lockscreen... I hope to put up a tutorial to
help others achieve the same "look." The best thing about this custom
lock screen vs. others I have seen is that it still allows for music apps,
notifications, etc to be used easily.
I also attempted to add the live wallpapers fix (w/o opengl) to this zip,
but unfortunately failed... If anyone wants to take a look and let me know
what I've done wrong that would be great!
I choose Purdue as it is my favorite college team/future university.

Okay, some of you saw my initial failed attempt at this mod, for removing the 'end call' virtual key / button on the screen, while a call is in progress.
The purpose of this mod is to prevent accidentally hanging up on a caller, by having your face press the 'end call' virtual button. There are even apps in the market to try and address this, so I'm guessing the issue is widespread for people.
On my first attempt, I inadvertently removed the entire bottom row, which was problematic, as it prevented you from being able to enter numbers, etc, during a voice prompt.
I was unable to find a way to remove JUST the 'end call' button, without removing the entire bottom row, so I decided to take a different approach, which is the end product posted here.
This approach seeks to simply disable the key press event on the 'end call' key. This way, we don't have to worry about removing the button, just disabling its function. As a result of disabling, I then went and removed the 'End call' text from the button, and turned it from red to gray, to essentially show it as disabled / non-functional.
To end a call using this mod, simply press the 'red' end call hard key on your phone.

EDIT: After some additional tinkering, I was able to find a way, through a combination with the original mod, to now remove for display the button all together. The original .zip has been updated accordingly.

The other widgets that use the HTC ActionBar (the two or three buttons that hang off of the mail widget, etc.) will have clear backgrounds. There was no way I could figure out how to separate the mail widget from com.htc.resources

The clock shown in the screenshots is Beautiful Widgets. This theme will not affect the stock HTC flipclock. (I'll always use BW because it updates the time behind a clear lockscreen). Also, the clear lockscreen mod is not included because it breaks the theme apk. Once someone comes out with a clear lockscreen for ZenEXP, I'll add it back in. Also, this will overwrite the stock theme (Nest) and can't be applied through the built-in theme app.
The Friendstream, News, Calendar and Bookmark widgets may work on other ROMS, I haven't tested. I tried to make them independent of the com.htc.resources apk. As mentioned above, the mail widget depends on the com.htc.resources apk so it will look different on other ROMS but may still work.

This is a Port of Ratcom's GSM version; all credit goes to him. Those interested in theme development, look up Ratcom and check his sig.
(3-28-10) Rosie no longer includes buttons; instead they're located under Framework in com.htc.resources.apk. So editing Rosie requires you to update both these APKs. Therefore they're both in the ZIP, which makes for a big file.

bit different from the one posted earlier, as it is basically straight AOSP style for ALL icons, including signal bars, etc.
It also includes a matching white droid launcher at the bottom, and per the screen captures, a clear notification background, and
clear lock bar on the lockscreen.

This is my Hero One theme. It began because I had a lot of requests to port my White and Blue theme for Legend over to Sprint based ROMs. So, I started to port it over, and while I was doing it all the ideas that I had been throwing around for an update to my original theme began working themselves into this one. It snowballed, and the end result is Hero One.
Thanks and credit go to Flipz, Darchstar, zenulator, mssmision, tristan202, jschisurf, and vinceob. If you think I left you out, PM me.
Included:
-Badass Nexus boot screen from zenulator
-All necessary apps and files for LWP(including the OpenGL tweak)
-AOSP taskbar with custom Rosie
-Black menus with blue highlights and button pushes
-Dialer from my White and Blue theme
-Fade in\out animations a la Darkstar
-Lockscreen info: If you use the Vanilla lockscreen it will turn your buttons blue like the picture. If you use the HTC lockscreen it will make it clear. It does not add or take away either.
-Includes the Genie Widget from 2.1, not that crappy port for 1.5.
-I did not change the app icons because this is in fact still a Hero, not a Nexus One. Nor did I add or remove any apps. Its just the theme, not a ROM.
I built this using Fresh 2.0d, so it should work on all Sprint based ROMs. As always, make a nandroid and I am not responsible for the health of your Hero. And, if you feel like using my work in your work, please acknowledge it.
-Turns out not everyone likes blue . So after I got quite a few PMs asking for a more stock version,I put this together. This will probably be the last update to this theme. Thanks to everybody who has supported and enjoyed this theme! And with that, the AOSP Green version:*with a 3G icon just for andyriot
-Please note, that if you flash the version with live wallpapers, your weather animations will cease to work correctly. You should just go ahead and remove the HTC WeatherWallpapers.apk if you havent already done so, or flashed Flipz's zip.

This post has been updated for damages new release 2.05.02 is latest one of my builds. Older info on v2.0.1
rom retained at bottom of thread. Awesome stuff damaged, alot of old annoyances were fixed (contacts bug for one). For all the
stuff damage fixed go over to thread?t=656690 .
I tweaked the update script & this should be a no wipe if you were on last version of mod. Remove any widgets from your homescreen
before flashing for best results. ALWAYS wipe dalvik in recovery right after you flash, I've found best results with this. as
always ymmv so nandroid. All old themes should still work, i dont think the seperate dialers links will though. Full already has
black dialer. Started to split up rom, light version with only 33.8mb in /system/app/ is up, internal memory was about 115 free
with no a2sd from wipe. Pretty sweet with the 5 screen launcher and live wallpapers, also feels pretty fast.
If you are unsure what to get start with the latest version of full mod -

Only 2.05.02 and newer
-Many Apk Optimizations (things feel alot faster, look at filesizes in /data/app/ !!)
-Launcher hexedited to allow 5 Screens
-LiveWallpapers (some livewallpapers dont work-throws error OpenGL ES Lite not supported)
-Youtube hexed to prefer higher qual stream
If it freezes or stays booting for longer than a half hour you win a wipe. Wipe everything in Recovery menu, data, dalvik & ext.
Then start by flashing Light Version then addons.
Issues & Fixes
Ive been using the 'FULL' mod for a few days now and it is very fast & stable. I havent gotten any FC's in day to day use.
*WHEN IN DOUBT WIPE _EVERYTHING_ IN RECOVERY & REFLASH*
-If superuser doesnt work make sure USB Debgging is on in Applications -> Development
-If you dont see all widgets clear data for htc sense under manage applications.
-If your Rosie goes to HTC screen each time make sure spare parts has activity/process management set to normal.
-If you STILL Have problems and dabbled with other 2.x roms before check out your PRI ?t=653735
-Smiley face instead of a down arrow on keyboard? Hold the configure button down & uncheck smiley hack. Reboot phone. You can
also get old keyboard back by flashing &postcount=435
-If you want to switch to my modded 5 screen stock launcher just go to settings applications HTC Sence and clear defaults. Then
if you press the back arrow or home button a bunch youll get a menu asking what to run & can choose a new default.
-Browser is a bit laggy in 2.05.01. I think i fixed it in .02 with all my other optimizations.
-If you dont use sprint voice mail id remove Sprint_Core.apk from /system/app/ orelse it always runs in backround
-if you have issues with audio cutting out avalaunchmods posted a fix i modified to work with apps2sd & gumbo (TESTING STILL!!!)

Battery Issues:
-Check your awake time in settings -> about phone -> battery. if awake is the same as your uptime you got a problem. If its high
run spare parts, go to battery history & check partial wake usage. Mine is 3 hours after 14 up on a single charge and still have
2 bars of battery left. Used GPS/phone/text a good bit battery life is on norm for me. Wipe everything & reflash if you have 100%
uptime.
-All alarms/tones/etc work for me out of box with full, couldnt seem to get them not to work. If they dont for you theres
probably something else wrong.
Light Version: *NO SENSE!*
Pretty much stock android with HTC dialer + keyboard. Uses HTC lock because stock is busted. Includes sprints vvm, remove if using
gvoice its always running.
Everything looks close to stock but no HTC widgets & modified version of launcher so 5 homescreens instead of 3! Includes LWPs.
Will probably have to wipe to go to this.
Did a wipe & flash, internal memory was 115MB. -

Issues/fixes for old rom
-In full Sense versions Somethings busted with HtcFacebook.apk. If you try to enable it youll get a permasync icon on top. (Try Update zip in addon section, worked for me)
-If your stuck 'permasyncing' without original htcfacebook just go into sync settings and uncheck everything then check them one by one. I ran across that once while i was flashing & seemed to fix it.
-If you have battery issues first check that the sync icon is not permanently on. Facebook update seems to be fixing issues for some try this first
-Maps Multitouch - &postcount=112

It's simply the darkstar theme ported by TrevE with a few of my own mods done to it. It works with the Sprint release frameworks. Will not work with Legend ROMs. Flash it through recovery. Enjoy!

This is the updated version of the Black and Blue theme I did a while back. There are some significant improvements IMO. I built this off of Fresh 2.0d so it should work on all Sprint ROMs. Its also built on the Desire Rosie port so LWP run right out of the box, but does not include the OpenGL hack that disrupts everything else. I just started liking my weather animations again.

-If you dont know by now, I like blue. There is blue everywhere in this theme. Including in the icons, .apks, and widgets. Well, except for the Clock Widget, I made that black. If you dont like blue, DONT DOWNLOAD THIS!
-Included is Konikub's raised dialer. It serves as the base and as the in-call dialer. I personally use and love Dialer One. Its got a ****load of options, and was made by a fellow xda'er myshyak. Im attaching a blue themed version if you want to use it also, but it is not included just in case somebody doesnt want it. Here's a screen shot:

to get market to change colors u have to go into menu,applications, manage applications, market...then uninstall update.
Here is my first foray into theming: X1088LoD_Zen_v0.1. This is based on Zen's ZenExp-0.9.2 ROM and may not work on any other ROM. Props goes out to Zen, nebenezer, vince, sdotcarlisle, godzson, gomorrah, and anyone else I may have left out. This is a work in progress, havent decided how I want to use the phone and contacts buttons on the Rosie just yet. May be a bit buggy, but nothing to take away from day to day usage of the ROM.

I wasn't able to port the entire theme over because they changed the button sizes, etc. And frankly, I don't mind the default theme right now. We'll see how long that lasts. Also, the smooth dialer I had on Fresh is not included because I like the new one, but the smooth keyboard is included. Lastly, I'm holding out on including the color icons from Fresh for now. If I get sick of the T-Mo ones, I'll add them back in. (And yes, I actually ported the HTC weather images to the Google News & Weather).

I have compiled this guide from the other one posted on this forum, the discussion therein, and my own knowledge. If you have any suggestions on making it better or to correct any mistakes I may have made please let me know.
This guide is intended for Windows and includes detailed instructions. It will cover the steps necessary to root, flash the new recovery image, create a full backup. This will work with software versions 1.29.651.1 and 1.56.651.2. I am not responsible for any damage done to your phone using this guide. Root at your own risk.
I have put to together a video on YouTube for you to follow along as well.
If you own a non-Sprint Hero, you will need to do some extra steps. Follow the guide in the How to Root Non-Sprint CDMA Hero thread.
Step 1: Download the Android SDK from http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html The Windows file is called android-sdk_r4-windows.zip. Extract the files to your C: drive so that you now have the folder C:\android-sdk-windows
Step 2: Download the asroot2 exploit file from http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=244212&d=1257621154 Extract asroot2.zip to C:\android-sdk-windows\tools folder.
Step 3: Download the Hero recovery image from http://www.androidspin.com/downloads.php?dir=amon_ra/RECOVERY/&file=recovery-RA-heroc-v1.5.2.img Place this file in C:\android-sdk-windows\tools as well.
Step 4: Make sure USB Debugging is off by going to Settings>Applications>Development. Now connect the phone to your PC via USB cable.
Step 5: Mount your sdcard; Browse to the HTC Sync folder and install HTC Sync on your pc. After it is done installing unmount the sdcard then enable your USB debugging.
Step 6: Open a command prompt by clicking the Start button and typing cmd into the search box and pressing enter or found under All Programs>Accessories.
Step 7: You will now enter a series of commands which I will place inside code boxes to indicate the entire command. You may copy and then paste them into the command prompt window by right clicking. Only enter one command at a time.

If you've been following this guide you will see your phone's serial number. If you get "device not found" error, you either need to make sure you the drivers were properly installed or make sure you enable USB debugging AFTER you connect the USB cable. Step 8: This is the last command; you may now close the cmd prompt. This will cause your phone to boot into recovery mode; it should take no longer than 30 secs. The third option on the list is "- Backup/Restore"; select it. Now, select the first option "- Nand backup". The phone will prompt you to press HOME to confirm which is want you want to do. The backup will begin. You will see the screen say, "Performing backup : .........." When done, the bottom of the screen will say "Backup complete!" and you will be given the menu options again. Go back to the main menu and select reboot system. Rebooting your phone after installing the new recovery image may take several minutes.
Step 9: Once your phone is fully booted, mount the sdcard. You will see a folder called "nandroid"; I highly recommend you copy this to your pc in case you lose your sdcard data or reformat it. Your phone is rooted, 100% backed up, and ready to install a custom rom if you wish!

REVOlution DHD Theme - for Sense ROM`s
Since we have Christmas tomorrow a little gift for you guys. I ported the very nice EVO Theme REVOlution from manup456 (so all credits to him) to DHD, tweaked a lot of details to my preference, rebranded it as DHD and added a few hacks incl. transparency in the status bar and 10% or 1% battery gauge indicator.
I just thought that the Revolution DHD theme is a natural fit to the best Sense ROM Revolution HD.
Theme contains framework, htcframework plus 15 themed apps, so Android widgets do now fit way better to the Sense Experience (I don`t like Eclair styled widgets mixed with transparent Sense).

1. What you need before the flash
Root, S-Off, DHD Sense ROM, Clockwork Mod and ROM Manager
Install:
* IMPORTANT - backup your system with Rom Manager
* Uninstall Facebook Update (1.5.4 will be pushed in system/app)
* LauncherPro Users - uninstall before you flash the theme (Plus User delete the launcher.apk from zip and theme LPro Plus via metamorph)
* Copy RevolutionDHD.zip to SD Card - IMPORTANT Stock ROM Users DELETE services.jar from RevolutionDHD.zip before you copy to SD, since the jar (responsible for the transparency) only works in deodexed Sense ROM`s like Revolution HD and would crash your ROM.
* If you prefer the 1% battery steps (theme default 10%) - you can flash the 1% update.zip after flashing the main theme
* Open Rom Manager and install from SD Card
* Choose RevolutionDHD.zip, then your DHD boots in Recovery and installs the theme, copies the Icon Pack and Wallpaper to your SD Card
* Choose your favorite Wallpaper from sdcard/wallpaper (4 Options), if you like customize your shortcuts with the icon pack
Icons can be best applied with Desktop Visualizer (if you use Rosie) or directly with LauncherPro.
* Make sure you choose HTC default skin, otherwise theme will not show up as designed
* Note: If there is a part you don`t want to install, just open the update.zip with winrar or 7zip BEFORE you flash, delete the apk and close the zip.
Known issues:
Just in case you have Weather FC`s after applying the theme, just do the following:
Uncheck sound effects in weather app settings
In case the FC comes already after opening the weather app (which is rare) and you can`t access settings in weather app, just do the following:
Go to applications, select manage, select all
Look for weather provider and delete data
IMPORTANT: kill your network connection (airplane mode)
Open weather, this will now not be able to update as connection is off
Apply settings, disable sound
Restore network connection
Please read this, before you flash:
If it happens, that your right customize button in Rosie dock does not work after you flashed, then this is not a bad thing - no you are one of the lucky bastards with a Theme version, where I already ported the f... complicated remapping mod. This is what you need to do to enjoy that mod:
1. Download the free Launchkey Lite app from Market or download it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=818499
2. Open Launchkey and assign key either to an app or to a custom menu (then pressing the button opens a popup menu, where you can assign 9 shortcuts)

Since we have Christmas tomorrow a little gift for you guys. I ported the very nice EVO Theme REVOlution from manup456 (so all credits to him) to DHD, tweaked a lot of details to my preference, rebranded it as DHD and added a few hacks incl. transparency in the status bar and 10% or 1% battery gauge indicator.
I just thought that the Revolution DHD theme is a natural fit to the best Sense ROM Revolution HD.
The main theme has 10% battery steps in the statusbar (I still prefer these), but you can additionally flash the update zip with 1% framework, if you prefer this (but after applying the main theme). No need to wipe, just flash and enjoy. If you want 1% steps, you also need to flash the update. I prefer 10% since the 1% can make you obsessive, but everyone is different.

The status bar is kind of messed up
after pulling it down it seems fine but when its pulled back the date on the right hand side stays visible does not dissapear like it should do.

This is awesome mate but I'm already using the updated one in the sticky. However mind giving a how to on editing the phone dialer pad? I tried it 3 times and each time I get no network signal. And then the phone bit didn't work and wouldn't open. But thanks for the awesome theme

The notification bar stays stock but the put-down bar is transparent on LeeDroid Rom after I flashed and the sense dock stays stock too but everything else such as the loader works.

Known issues:
Just in case you have Weather FC`s after applying the theme, just do the following:
Uncheck sound effects in weather app settings
In case the FC comes already after opening the weather app (which is rare) and you can`t access settings in weather app, just do the following:
Go to applications, select manage, select all
Look for weather provider and delete data
IMPORTANT: kill your network connection (airplane mode)
Open weather, this will now not be able to update as connection is off
Apply settings, disable sound
Restore network connection

It's just that i looked at the zip directory of your Splashscreen and its an splash1.img file inside, shouldnt it be a .bmp file for Android Splash Flasher?

You are right, I was one step ahead... you can flash the splash img by:
Copy the image in your tools folder of SDK
Boot into bootloader, connecting your DHD
Open cmd and navigate to tools folder
type: fastboot flash splash1 splash1.img
Then reboot with: fastboot reboot
I uploaded the bmp now.

That might be changed going forward, that theme is still in it`s infancy, even if it`s a kid of my Milestone Summer Blues, but Sense is so different, that it will still be a long journey. It is like a new flat, it`s never ready.

That might be an addon later, but not as standard, since this is too dark for some people. But having choices is always a good idea.

I will launch a Rosie version as addon later, where you can change that shortcut to your liking incl. a popup to 9 shortcuts. It is basically like my Rosie on steroids, only with standard non transparent drawer and 4 icons (ROS has transparency and 5 columns).

Can you include XXXXX app in the theme?
As stated in post 1, most likely yes. Simply tell me the app name (ideally, the package name from the AndroidManifest from the decompiled apk.) And better, tell me where to download it or upload the apk.
Can all apps be included in Anastasdroid?
Most, but not all. If the package name includes a capital letter I cannot compile the theme apk. Example, amazons app's package name is: com_amazon_mShop_android. The "S" disallows me to compile the Anastasdroid.apk. Am working on a work-around now, but will see!
Does Anastasdroid change my wallpaper or system colors?
No. It only replaces icons.
Does Anastasdroid install all the programs?
No. It only edits the images.
Can I change themes without losing Anastasdroid?
Yes, using Theme Chooser, you can switch all sorts of themes without losing anything.
My USB debugging icon doesn't change in the pull-down menu. Why?
Yep. Known error with this theme engine; don't know how to fix it right now.

ZduneX25 has a quick and easy app on his website to do all the below. I couldn't get it to work (all my fault) so I did each step by hand. This is what I did (Zdune's instructions with a little extra by me!) It worked for me, but as with everything no guarantees for anyone else!

1- Download framework-res.apk and systemui.apk from your rom (just pull them out of the zip)
2- Copy to your APKTool folder (/Windows)
3- Open CMD Window (Shift + Right Click) and type:

10- Run APKManager and sign (option 16)
11- If you don't want to use APKManager, you can use drag2sign
12- Install to internal memory (/system/app). I did this by making a flashable CWM zip though there are lost of ways to do this (again, this works for me, do as you see fit!)
13- Steps 6 and 7 are optional. In my opinion they make the drop down menu look better (otherwise it is half transparent). From ZduneX25, not my own creation. You can always make it both ways and give it a look.

STEP 2: Making a CWM Flashable Zip
======================================1- Download, extract the META-INF and system folders to a new location: Download BLANK CMW Flashable zip
2- Place your (new and edited) apk just as it appears in your rom. For SystemUI.apk, place it in /system/app
2a- NOTE: YOU CAN DO THIS TO MAKE A BACKUP TOO!!! Simply use the original (non-edited) SystemUI.apk!
3- Edit META-INF\com\google\android\updater-script in Notepad++ - you can change the ui_print to fit your theme
4- Zip up META-INF and system folder (highlight both folders, right click and add to zip). Transfer to your phone.
5- Enter CWM and flash

OPTIONAL STEP 1: THE FOLLOWING IS FOR NON-ANASTASDROID USERS - MAKING YOUR THEME TRANSPARENT
======================================The above changes to SystemUI.apk do the set up for transparency. Now you need to make your theme transparent too (this is done in Anastasdroid fo your - so if you install Anastasdroid, you can ignore the following steps.)
The native file is black, so your statusbar background will be black unless you change it!
1- Simply put you need to edit the com_android_systemui_statusbar_background.9.png per regular ways
2- What I did - substituted com_android_systemui_statusbar_background.9.png for com_android_systemui_statusbar_background.png that is 480x38px. (The xml redirecting in your theme is the same for both files as the ".9.png" is ommitted.)
3- My file: com_android_systemui_statusbar.png.zip

Doesn't change the keyboard at all so whatever you have won't be touched. Just changes the launcher icons and sysbar really.

1. Flashing the ROM
1.1 Preparing for flashing
- go to recovery
- wipe /cache, dalvik-cache, battery stats
- flashing this over mik's v6.5.x/6.6.x ROM without wiping /data should work without any problems.
- for any other non-CM7.1 ROM, wiping /data (factory reset) IS required (see FAQ and do not ask retarded questions)
1.2 Flashing the ZIP
- CWM should work just fine
- TWRP - works just fine if you disable signature verification (bug reported quite a few days ago)
- AmonRA - totally untested, definitely disable signature verification, if it does not work, try one of the above.

1.3 First boot and initial setup
- reboot from recovery
- WAIT! Really, just WAIT!!! Even if it takes 10 minutes, there is no bootloop. Also, as long as the bootanimation is moving, the phone is NOT frozen and is busy populating the dalvik cache etc. Absolutely no need to pull the battery in that case! Once again, WAIT!
- In case you are flashing on a clean phone (/data wiped), you will get the initial setup wizard. If you want to change your language, do it. Tap on the Android picture. Either complete the wizard or skip it. I suggest skipping it, you can add your Google account and set it up just fine after all the setup is finished by tapping on the Market icon.
IMPORTANT NOTE: In case you get some lame popup before the initial Android screen asking you to choose between something like "com.google.provisioning" and Setup Wizard, choose the topmost item, do NOT check the checkbox. (It is impossible to take a screenshot of that, so it is NOT shown below.) Follow the prompts. Again, suggest skipping the wizard as soon as possible.

2. Theming the ROM for dummies (picture guide):
2.1 - Lockscreen
After you have finished/skipped the setup wizard, your screen should look like on Picture 1. Go to Settings - CyanogenMod - LockScreen - Style Options. Select Lense as LockscreenStyle and check the Hide rotary arrows. Press Back a couple of times to get back to home screen.
2.2 Wallpaper and status bar transparency - part 1
Hold your finger on the home screen for a while. Select Wallpapers from menu. From the next menu, select Live wallpapers. From the next menu, select MultiPicture Live Wallpaper. On next screen, tap on Settings, go to Common Settings - Picture Source. From the popup menu, choose either Single Picture or Picture Folder. On the prompt, do not forget to check "Use by default for this actions" and tap on MIUI Gallery. Go to wallpapers folder, choose a wallpaper, duh! Press back several times until you get back to the Set wallpaper screen. Tap on Set wallpaper. You are back to your homescreen.
Looks better now, huh?
2.3 Choosing the theme
Tap the home icon - in the app drawer list until you find Theme Chooser (on the last screen), tap the icon. Tap on Apply button under the MIUI theme. Back to home screen, note the icons in status bar are now changed.

NOTE: Sorry, this part IS sadly required, I cannot include the patched SystemUI.apk in the ROM, because otherwise there is never any status bar, LOL. Also it causes quite a bit of trouble with the initial setup wizard. NFC. Do not ask me why.

Finishing up!!! Press the power button, choose Reboot - Recovery - OK. Wow, the phone rebooted and you are now in recovery! Go to flash ZIP menu, browse to MIUIGEN71/themes/transparent folder and flash the statusbar_patch.zip!
Reboot.

NOTE: If you ever get bored by the transparent MIUI theme, you can undo the patch by flashing MIUIGEN71/themes/nontransparent/statusbar_undo.zip from recovery and use any CM7 theme with this ROM. (A black MIUI theme with non-transparent status bar attached here.)

Q: Can I use this with the new baseband?
A: NO!!! Absolutely NOT!
Q: Not even with the mik's patch?! Will data work with that?

Q: Are you planning to add support for new baseband?
A: NO!!! Absolutely NOT! It will be supported when/if mik's ROM supports it. I will NOT do anything about baseband.
Q: But... that sucks! I do not want to downgrade baseband?
A: Go use another ROM, such as the stock LG ****! Do not bother asking on this thread about baseband, you WILL get reported to a moderator.
Q: Can I flash this over mik's v6.5.x/6.6.x ROM without wiping /data?
A: Yes, it should work without any problems.
Q: Can I flash this over stock ROM, GingerLOL or whatnot else without wiping /data?
A: NO! Do not bother with complaining about crashes and broken things if you do.
Q: Why franco kernel v1.1-24082011? It is unstable for me, I have random crashed, freezes, reboots, battery drains and it even drinks all beer in my fridge overnight!?!
A: Because the kernel works perfectly fine for me. If you get the stuff above, wipe everything (/data, /cache, dalvik-cache, battery stats), tune down your crazy OC (no, this phone will NOT work @1GHz) and enjoy your fast clean stable ROM with great performance!
Q: I still have kernel problems even after a clean flash? What now?
A: Feel free to flash any other franco 2.6.35 kernel if it works better for you. You can report bugs in latest kernel version to franco on his thread. IMPORTANT: Do NOT bother with reporting issues if you are too lazy to provide useful information about your CPU freqs, governor settings, provide logcat etc. and the only thing you plan to do is moaning about crashes, drains etc.
Q: I am having black screen/split screen bug!!! T3h suxxxx!
A: Sucks to be you, I do not have any such problem. Otherwise, turn off the CRT animation (who needs such stuff). If you get a blackscreen, please stop locking/unlocking the screen like mad every one second. Wait a few seconds at least. Also, there is no need to pull the battery or damage the power button by pressing it zillion times, just touch the screen.
Q: I am having battery drain! The ROM and kernel are horrible!
A: No, the junk you have installed is horrible. Grab BetterBatteryStats, find the offending crap and uninstall it.
Q: Battery life still suxxx! Only will last 3 days!
A: Go get a Nokia 5110.

A: Nothing I could do about it. Normally, /sdcard can only be mounted once. When you use the phone as mass storage, it gets unmounted from the phone. Go complain to Google.

A: Buy a USB stick for like $10. This is a phone, not a storage for your PC. Or grab something like Root Toolbox from the market and try the dual-mount feature there instead.

A: It takes a while to get the SD card partition mounted to phone. Go complain to Google.

A: As the name suggests, to remount your system read-only/read-write.

INSTALLATION
Make sure that you are running 2.3.4 or above android version
Make sure that you have a custom recovery - preferably CWM 5.2.0.8
It is better to have an SD-EXT partition
Take a Nandroid backup
Download Rom
Copy the rom zip file to SD card
Reboot to recovery
Wipe data/reset
Wipe cache partition
Advanced - Wipe Dalvik cache
Advanced - Wipe battery stats
Install zip from SD card
Choose zip from SD card
Select the rom zip file
Wait till the flashing process is complete
DO NOT WIPE AFTER FLASHING- it will remove Mixplorer(file manager) & Link2sd
Reboot system now
First boot requires comparatively more time, so be patient

I can’t see any file manager or link2sd ?
You have wiped data after flashing the rom, this removed Mixplorer , Link2sd & Terminal emulator which were placed in the rom as user apps for its updating. Reflash the rom and DO NOT wipe/data reset after flashing
Can I port this rom ?
Ask me and make sure that no one else has ported to your device
I can’t see superuser and no dialogs for granting root permission ?
This rom is using Insecure su binary which is so light and does not need any app for granting root permission. The root permission is granted for all apps which request root permission.
I don’t like the insecure binary thing, How can I change to the default?
You might want to install SuperSU from the market and update the SU-binary. This will completely replace SimpleSU with SuperSU. Which means those want to stay insecure don’t update your su binary.
How to check MD5 sum ?
Open Mixplorer. Long click the file you want to check. Press the 3 dot overflow button at the right bottom corner. select properties. The window will display the MD5 ( give it some seconds to calculate )
There are also utilities that can be used to get MD5. For eg: this Microsoft File Checksum Integrity Verifier .
It is saying that ‘please check your connection’ when I try to send a file using obex Bluetooth in miXplorer ?
Obex Bluetooth is not working probably because of the older android version (2.3.7). it is working fine with higher version, So use the native Bluetooth. I have reported this issue and It will be fixed soon and you can update ( mixplorer is not a system app and you can update it. For better performance don’t move it to sd ext )
How to setup a bluetooth ftp connection in Mixplorer ?
First pair with the device you want to establish a connection. Open Mixplorer. Swipe to the right from the extreme left side. Select ‘new storage’. Select ‘custom network’. Press ‘search local’. Press save. Now your connected device is displayed on left panel ( swipe from left ) . Open it and swipe down to refresh ( or press refresh button). Give it some time, If it shows failed refresh again. Now you can see the files in the connected device.
How to use the odex script ?
Open terminal emulator. Type su. Press enter. Type dexo –h . Press enter. It shows all the possible commands for your phone.
All the system apps are odexed. If you want to make another one odexed system app. Copy the apk file to /system/app.( If there are any .so files in lib/armeabi of that apk file. Copy the .so file to system/lib of your phone ). Goto the root of your sd card. Create a text file with name csa.txt . Open it and type the exact name of the apk file you just copied ( eg: DSPManager.apk ). Save and close the text file. Open terminal emulator. Type su. Press enter. Type dexo –csa. Press enter. Wait for the process to finish. Then reboot.
How to move apps and its components to sd ext ?
The rom has Link2sd app for that purpose. First make sure that you have an sd ext partition ( if not create one- a method of creation is using CWM. Creating sd ext formats your sd card, so do backup before creating sd ext )
Open Link2sd. It will ask which type of ext partition you have. Select your type ( mine is ext4 ). Reboot your phone. Open Link2sd - options - settings - tick auto link - autolink settings - select what all things you want to move. After that all the apps( and its selected components ) you installed will be moved to sd ext automatically. When you install an application open it only after it is linked to ext. Only the plus version of link2sd can move data of an app, unless you link everything including data the internal memory will increase when installing apps.
I don’t like Link2sd , I want to switch to s2e ?

If you don’t want to use link2sd do nothing to it. Install s2e and use it like you normally do. Since you are not using link2sd you can uninstall it using titanium backup or other tools.
Another option is before flashing rom. Open the rom zip file using 7zip. Go to data/app delete Link2sd.apk and add the s2e apk to that folder. Flash the new rom zip
It is hard to switch from link2sd after linking some apps. If you have created the mount script ( selected the ext type and rebooted ) then s2e will not work.
In order to switch to s2e after linking some apps you have to remove all the links that you have created and delete the mount script 11link2sd from /system/etc/init.d. Then reboot and install s2e and use it normally. But this method may not work for sure.
So, If you want to use s2e. Don’t use link2sd, don’t create mount scripts, don't link any apps. Instead use s2e from the very beginning- before moving any apps to ext
I don’t like flyon mod how do I remove it ?
Go to this flyon mod thread Flyon Mod. In the download section you will see a zip named Fly-On_uninstaller.zip. Download it and flash it via CWM . Flyon will be removed
How can I make the apps load faster?
Open spare parts from app drawer. Select ‘off’ for both window animations and transition animations.
You said there is a data speed meter, but I can’t find any ?
The data speed meter will not be displayed until you switch on your data.
Sometimes the data meter shows speed in white color and some other times blue, why is that?
The white shows the upload speed. Blue shows the download speed.
There is no indicator under the power widget buttons ?
They are removed on purpose because the power widget icons will change color when toggled, So power widget indicator is kinda unnecessary.

Just installed it, but had a problem with it the first few times[but that was because I changed the LCD density, works fine if no modification], is there any way to change lcd density without crashing the launcher? Or can i change the launcher? I really want to change the value to 106, it`s the best value for it

No compromise in performance and battery, because this rom is an attempt to reduce the ugly look of original cm7.2 without any reduction in performance or battery . The rom is snappy and battery is really good see the screen shot

what kind of problem did you face? I had none ( do all wipes as given in op and give time for loading the launcher in the first boot )
For changing LCD density use some 3rd party apps .May be this LCD Density Changer ( I haven't tested that app, but I guess it will do the job ).The value is 120 by default. If 106 seems good I will consider it in the next version. I think 106 will be much smaller. Remember I have changed the fonts. It is not Roboto
for changing the launcher. Install your new launcher and delete com.mobint.hololauncher.211.apk from /system/app/ or uninstall it using titanium backup or root uninstaller.
Another option is to replace /system/app/com.mobint.hololauncher.211.apk with which ever launcher you want before flashing.
Installed this Rom. Very nice look, especially the notification drawer theming. Can u make transparent status bar like kitkat in next update. And font looks a bit unclear for me.

Nice to see a CM7.2 ROM after so much time. It's really a pity how developers are wasting their valuable time on JB ROMS which don't even run smooth on our phone and make it so slow and laggy.
What we should do is perfect GingerBread.

The problems was because of me [forgot to mention that], the launcher kept crashing because of the lcd density ii change that before the flashing with Notepad++. Replaced Holo with ADW [first one I found, any ideeas for another?]. Did some screenshots with LCD density at 106. The biggest problem I have with it is that Go Backup is crashing... Is there any way to restore data from Go with another app, or do I have to go back to another rom backup and do it with another app?
Can I port it to Galaxy Y?

I stopped using GO 2 years ago, So no idea about restoring that backup, I guess only Go will be compatible with Go.
Have you tried to use the default 120 density ? In my opinion , 106 is much small !! and 120 looks better
Would you mind editing your first reply about launcher ? otherwise people may misunderstand

I will consider it.
Why I choose this font is to give a little different look from Roboto and DroidSans. I have tested with many fonts and finally concluded this. If there comes a better option, I will go for it for sure.

Actually , theming is not complete and it is an intial version. I released it bcoz otherwise it will delay more as result of my exams this week.

Hmm. I am facing some theming problems. I am aware that you can't deal with all theming problems like black text on black background because it depends on the app, but I would appreciate if you also provided the system default theme as an optional theme
Otherwise, very stable ROM.
And yes, the developers ARE doing a great job. They've devised so many ingenious ways to try to deal with the weak hardware like a lot of scripts and kernels. But yes, our hardware simply isn't strong enough. (It is some 4 years old)

I know that, it coz the 3rd party apps using their own style. Can you provide a screenshot for that black-black combo ? I solved that to some extent, I can try to do better from the System side if possible.
