HTC Cloth Doily (Rag) for Screen Cleaning - HD2 Accessories

Hello,
Would like to know if HTC have released Cloth material Doily to clean Screen from finger prints?
After using HTC HD2 it's screen looks just awful with all those finger prints on it
I'm interested in cleaning cloth rag with HTC logo to clean those finger prints.

I used a simple glasses cloth which is doing the trick nicely .. the device looks new after using it.

I uses the same microfiber cloth 5 quid for 10 pieces, works like a charm.

That's right what I'm using myself.
I just wanted to have black "glasses cloth" with "HTC" logo on it. Nice thing to show off I wonder why they didn't release something like this.

Screen protector makes phone ugly ))
A better solution is to wear your HTC HD2 in a leather case.
Never put your phone in pocket without case.
It may be not convenient when you pick it up, need to use both hands to release phone from case and only then answer call.
BUT! It will look like new. To me it's more important.

Paint rubbing off on corner

My phone is a couple of weeks old and the paint on one corner has already rubbed (or has been scratched) off leaving the shiny aluminum exposed. Has anyone else got this issue or have any bright ideas to restore the matt black color? I tried a Sharpie but it didn't stick.

Humm, this is worrying. I hope it's a fluke
Got a spot of aluminium as well in the top left corner.
Only 1mm in diameter, but still... not too good after about 10 days of use.
WoW... I hope these are just two isolated cases, or some bad serie...
Believe me, if this happens to mine, it will be the very last time I buy a HTC. You can write my words in stone.
HastaSSSS
Not good news!! I had this same problem with my HTC 3600P... it looked like crap after 6 months... crap black finish rubs off easy.. specially if in a humid country like jamaica.. really really bad news for the diamond! thanks guys.. will keep a close eye on it and try and get a case of it ASAP.
C
I have also got paint rubbing off both top corners, it's slowly getting worse. Not happy!!! Few weeks old. Any body know a good paint match? Think I could fix it..
Im sure that having your keys and coins in the same pocket with your phone it will get scratched.
Can't make out the corners of mine through the fingerprints even though every night I wipe my fingers on my jeans after my chips! What about proper Indian ink?
I had to something about it on mine...
Fine/Ultra Fine Black Sharpie Permanent Marker has done the job..
...does NOT sound good, I had this problem with my Trinity and it really looked a mess. I hope HTC read this post and maybe.... even say something about it? or would i be dreaming?
some pictures maybe?

Forget the Sharpie people it comes off in 2 days!!...
same has happened to mine, metal finish has worn off on top right corner, have tried permanent marker and also a little tin of humbrol satin black enamel paint which worked the best, but even that rubs off!!! gotta say im dissapointed with the finish of the phone, my touch dual still looks new after 6 months.
Hmm you made me pretty worry
I already ordered my diamond and I'm expecting it within 10 days ... I already ordered Overlay plus for the screen and front buttons and Invisible shield for the back and sides.. I was not planning to apply the invisible shield from day one but after what you guys wrote I think I will...

No paint rubbing off here after 6 weeks.
No paint rubbing off here either and it's thrown in a pocket with no case and has landed on the floor with no damage.

My wife put it in her purse with a bunch of keys, but luckily it is only the screen protector. I can't blame her for the paint however, that was all me.
Playing ball with my Diamond wasn't one of the functions on the phone that I was aware of. Does the G sensor help you hit better?
we need a rubber case!!!
Oh no... this happend to me to my old wizard, but the paint lasted for at least 6 months before scratching. I hope my $700 phone has a good paint Job.

Fingerprints, Dirt, enc

Hello folks,
As most of you reading I am a happy Topaz user,
But I find it sad, that I almost do not dare to use the device without stylus
Whenever I touch the phone, it leaves a dirty mark...
And I cannot live with that, So I always want to clean it afterwards
I mean... even with a screen protector installed, it gets dirty too quick,
And I recon I cannot walk around with a bunch of cleaning tools either
So, what's your opinion on this? or do you have a good solution?
Do you care that the screen is dirty, or not? please tell me
Thanks already
- Jeutie
is ok , you can always change screen protector .

I use an antiglare screen protector I got from Brando (http://shop.brando.com.hk/bw-pda-screen-protector-htc-touch-diamond-2-_p03225c1035d039.html). You lose something in brightness but it is very impervious to dirt and fingerprints.
There is also an hot debate on matte finishing battery cover. I simply painted the original cover using matte spray acrylic paint (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3950791&postcount=67) Of course you need a bit of manual dexterity and a brave heart...
I just leave it dirty
I thought about another screen protector aswell... but I think I'll fail again xD
(screen protector was dusty already when I putted it on, But I'll try again.)
Thanks for the information
But Would you recommend the normal screen protector or the Ultra Clear one?
Hi
Yep feel the same, hated touching it when I first got it as any touch leaves a fingerprint, if you try and wipe it away you make it worse. The aluminium surround really shows up finger prints and then smudges and so does the screen even with screen protector on. Even ear prints are clearly visible!
This isn't unique to the Topaz though, the state I've seen some iPhones in
So I just live with the fact it only looks shiny and new after a quick clean with some cleaner and a microfibre cloth, for just a short period of time.
It would help if the back was matt black or rubberised, but it isn't. I really don't understand the people that design these things as surely they must put them through some form of user testing, and I can't believe out of an even tiny group of testers the comment 'finger print magnet' didn't arise.
Regards
Phil
I do have the matt finish ;-) bought it way overpriced on ebay...
But the screen protector didn't help so I was looking for something better
and indeed, the aluminium is even worse xD

The Ultra Clear looks and feels as the original screen and as other screen protectors, that is glass like. Therefore, dirt and fingerprints remain very visible.
On the other hand the antiglare has a kind of very small granularity over it. Dirt and fingerprints do not stick to it and fingers, nails and stylus glide very nicely over it. On the other hand, it is not completely transparent, expecially under direct sunlight.
But so, for the fingerprint issue, the normal one should be better, then the ultra clear one, Thanks
I'll order one on Monday, And I'll get someone less clumsy to put it on ^^

That's a PERFECT DEFINITION! My opinion is that being a "touch" device, we have no great chances to solve the problem on what concerns the screen..Other question is the backVery sexy on picture but fingerprint hungry and sometimes slippy!! Waiting for a mat cover at decent price.BTW congrats to ouram57 for his guts! But is the painting layer resisting, especially at the corners?

The painting is quite resistant but of course scratches accumulate as they did on the shiny original case (but they are a bit less visible). The good news is that on too many scratches paint can be applied again...
You're right! If it's been successfully done once, why not repeat it if needed..
Hoping that none of us will ever need it,http://www.expansys.com/d.aspx?i=179389 is one of the most expensive pieces of plastic on earth

That "thing" with two holes is also on sale at HTC's:http://www.htcaccessorystore.com/uk/p_htc_item.aspx?i=179389 as "original" cover for D2Very affordable as usual.. I get mad if I think it's about 10% of the phone's price. My ideal back cover would be mat gummy black, just like the Kaiser (a.k.a TytnII).. hope someone is going to think about it!
Aright... I have applied the screen protector...
That's great! no more fingerprints on the screen
Together with the backcover and installation of some cabs... my device is totally like I want it
Thanks folks!

Polishing screen...minor scratch

Not sure how much confidence I have in Gorilla Glass but screen is just over a month old and I see two minor scratches. I babied the hell out of this phone, so I'm not even sure where they came from.
I figured I'd try to "buff" one of the scratches out which worked on my previous phone....not so much here. I used Meguires car polish and lightly rubbed at the scratch. It seemed to lessen the intensity of the scratch but now there is this...haze...where I used the product. If I wipe it away, the phone looks fine. After some use, it almost attracts the dirt/grime and you can see where I polished the screen which leads to me to believe there is some sort of coating I polished off.
Any way to fix this? Should I return it and get a new one?
You definitely polished a coating. There's an oleophobic coating that minimizes oil left behind from our fingers, and it actually also helps in preventing scratches. I'm a little confused from your title. Did the scratch occur while polishing, or did you want to say it's scratched and you want to polish it?

Sorry, it was scratched and I wanted to polish it out. The thing is, there is no evidence of anything until it starts collecting dirt. Otherwise, even under direct light, you can't see any difference.
I'll probably take back...my camera has been giving me issues as well. I'm past the 14 day grace period so I'm not sure what my next steps are.

Like the previous poster said it's oleophobic coating that was removed when you applied the polish. You could reapply it on your screen by using any liquid glass product.
Maybe you can try this? http://liquidglassshield.com/
It's not a real oleophobic coating but it should be practically the same.

Well I polish my screen too, screen protector and I get the same effect. Polishes do that, and they do that on your car as well. They're meant to protect metal so applying it to glass will give you a haze and, not attract dirt but the oil allows it to stick and it will show off more.
How do I know this? I used polish on my windshield. Same tthing. Try to wash it off lightly with soap. The other comments may be right but I think it's mainly the polish that did that

Possibly, but the bare glass underneath will still hold oil like crazy since the olephobic layer is gone there. I use the Oakley hydrophobic lens cleaner solution on my screens that don't have a coating and it works quite well. It definitely makes it easier to wipe oils off and fills in very minor scratches. Of course it's not as good as the gorilla glass coating, and the biggest problem is you have to reapply it once every couple weeks if you are using the screen frequently. Maybe the coating recommend earlier in the thread is better?
I guess alternatively you could just go the extra step and wax the screen... Vehicle wax is pretty good at repelling things but the polish does nothing like that by itself. Not common but neither is the situation

Hmm, true haha, don't use armor all wax, it sucks! Nufinish maybe?
Hey hey, why not get a screen protector? I've gotten one from eBay that's flawless 3 weeks after getting the phone. At least that way, you won't have to worry about the screen anymore; you have a new layer.
Plus the scratches will keep coming. At least when you have some on a screen protector, peel the film off and get s nee one - gone forever. What do you think?

Also, about gorilla glass being easy to scratch, its really still like any other glass. Stuff like sand will still scratch it.
My last phone had GG and I found out that my earring (quartz mineral stone) left little scratches on it, nothing else scratched it though. And it lived in my pocket daily for about a year with no case or screen protector. So GG isnt all that bad, it just wont protect against EVERYTHING.

Haha I'll probably buy one, on sale for me here. Yea I can understand, but the key is to keeping it clean all the time. I have an idea actually, first thing would be to have a lint cloth with u always but if you can get your hands on "stoner invisible glass rain repellent" from a store. I heard about it somewhere in Xda and it is AMAZING. use it for ur car too of course haha but put just a dot or 2 on your screen protector, buff it and you'll never see oil and fingerprints again. If u do, it will be after a couple of days perhaps. It's amazing. Buy it for your car but use it for your phone too

Or get the Spigen Glas.t and never have to worry again. Oleophobic, and actually rated tougher than Gorilla Glass itself

Yeah I actually use that stuff and it is awesome! Never used it on anything but my vehicle though... It's mostly acetone but it does leave behind a repellant coating. The acetone will react with some plastics of screen protectors, but you may be on to something here! Honestly there isn't a better glass cleaner out there  maybe even using the Oakey stuff on a screen protector?

I ended up scratching mine too. I thought having a flip case would protect my phone but, I constantly clean my phone screen. I'd say about 10-15 times a day. And just once, there must have been a bit of git or sand on my cloth and it left its mark I have a screen protector on it now. Covers it up nicely.. but knowing it's still there annoys the hell out of me lol

Yea you could try it, why not? Not sure how it works, never used it, but as with anything you will apply on a screen, because with a touchscreen you're poking and rubbing, it will wear off in a few days. 2 more mins of your time for 2-3 days of clear screening, works well o think

[Q] Question for black HTC One owners who don`t use cases.

Hi.
I have a question for u guys.
I really like the design of the phone and hate to bulk it up with case so i`m planning to use it naked.
The question is: how good the device hold up against scratches and chipping since i`ve seen what happen to black iphones after a while.
Thanks in advance.

Don`t it loose color on the edges when u put it in and out of pocket all the time ?
I've had it for almost 3 months now, and I do have some silver spots on the back. Also one little dent.
The look is totally worth it TBH ;p
also, most of the silver spots on the back were actually caused by sand that got between the case and the phone in the first week haven't been using cases since.
Another thing, I've heard a black permanent marker actually hides the spots, but I have yet to try this.
No scratches here! 2 months.

I have the black and i'd say that the phone holds up fairly well when exposed to things that might scratch it
the phone's metal does not scratch that easily but the bezel of the metal acrually scratches fairly easily, so a bumbper might be of use but the phone is still usable. The back is also fairy easy to scrath if you use sandpaper and press it really hard but if its not scratched there might be a few marks that can be rubbed away easily using the right adhesive. Hope this helped! and also use a screen protector the glass is not gorrilla glass 3
I've got 2 small chips on the edge of mine, I've tried 2 different markers but both rubbed off eventually and they were slightly different shades as well. I have a nillkin hard cover on mine which doesn't add too much thickness

After raising a teenager from 0 to 19, I know better than to EVER get anything white.
Saliva
Skinomi skin + screen protector. Whenever skinomi gets around to making one.

A case
I ask this cause this is my first white phone and it seems like it will get dirty fast, of course a case but sometimes you would like to use it naked so I thought hey maybe someone knows of product to use along side a microfiber clothe to keep this device like new
Buying the black version
black is still dirty, lol you just cant see it, at least with the white you know its clean, because you have to clean it...
I'm more afraid that the white paint on the metal bumper is going to scratch off. Not a great design idea.
The white doesn't get dirty like you think, I know on my note 3 new users were leary, but the coating on the white makes it easy to keep clean, I did auto work and would grab my phone with oily hands and never did anything special beyond wiping it off with a damp rag
