Aluminum Metal Case - HD2 Accessories

I received yesterday my protection for Leo. I share with you the results of this:

For shipping this protection:
http://www.pdair.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=10100000_900000_11000801&products_id=26364

Thanks for sharing; however you would have been better off posting in the Cases thread where we all go to see what's happening in the world of cases.
WB

Agree with above poster, can a mod fix this?
Nice case! ive also ordered 1 last week at PDAir, the 1 without a screen, so easy acces, but fewer protection. I am hoping its more solid so i can put it in my back pocket without getting a red face everytime i realize i accidently put it there...
When did you order it and did it took long (i am eager to get mine, but now hope is gone till monday or tuesday...)

I disagree.
The "Cases" thread is too long and too complicated for discussing any one specific case.
Anyway I ordered mine just a moment ago and would very much like to hear how quick was the shipment, how snug is the fit and how reassuring the neoprene feels
It's a shame they opted for a plastic screen protector instead of either a window-less aluminum door or a transparent cover that lets you work with the touchscreen.

mohasea,
How thick is the plastic cover over the screen?
Does the plastic cover flex?
Do you think the plastic cover would prevent the screen being cracked if dropped screen down on ummm concrete?

I totally agree, wish they had a solid aluminum front door instead of the window cut-out covered in plastic or the other option they have of no plastic window cut-out. I would order one now, even not having my Leo yet, just because the front door was solid aluminum.
I am going to contact PDair and see if they would leave a few front doors out of the cnc cutter and have a full cover aluminum
Would you like one too, Duperman ?
Thank you,
Monnie

I have ordered an open screen case despite it may not fully protect the screen. HD2 has a glass screen and it is hard enough against scratch as what has been in iphone.

Would you like one too, Duperman?

Absolutely

Mine, the one without screen plastic, is supposed to arrive between now and Jan 27th next year...(sometime)
take care

Anyone got theirs yet?
Would love to see some detailed photos and a review of the case pros/cons
Thank you,
Monnie

I'm debating whether to go with their leather flip case or this aluminum case...

I got this case and immediatly wished there was no plastic screen on the front door. So, I held it over some boiling water for about 2 mins and and then used my thumb nail (not kidding it was easy) to pry the plastic from the metal. The whole lot peeled off easily, i replaced the foam into the case and BAM perfect case. (be careful not to rip the foam, but if you do it will still stick back. also the foam stretched out a bit but pushed back into shape no problem. TIP: Work from the front side of the case, wedge your nail into the seem and loosen it all the way around. If it starts to get tough again, hold it over steam for a while longer.
Also.. when the plastic was still inplace and the case door was closed, there would be random screen presses and that was not cool, however now that the plastic is out, i can leave the door closed, press when I want too, AND there is no random case presses
I know this sounds like a poor fix, but it worked awesome and it looks like it was SUPPOSED to come this way.
Now all i need is for my zag shield (front only) to show up and im perfectly protected (minus water damage dammit)
awesome case guys im not kidding. you dont have to put the nubbin on in the back either so it doesnt add much bulk to teh phone. good luck yo.

Got mine too and I use the black open faced aluminum for local use and insert the whole unit;
aluminum case and all into the Maxpedition "Rat" wallet for carrying on belts etc.... http://www.maxpedition.com/store/pc/...&idcategory=11
Like it alot....
FWIW

well, do not kill me if I say so .. but it is ugly as hell.
I do not say that it does not protect the phone, or the the finishing it's not ok .. but from a slim phone with a huge screen, it looks like a bullet proof brick with a screen.
The whole idea of an elegant smartphone it's gone.
Small question: what do you hate about the original leather case?
It is elegant, slim easy to use and protect the phone in normal use conditions or small accidents.

Capdase Alumor Metal Case
Bought this silicon w/ aluminium backcover case by CAPDASE in Hong Kong, adding a more "solid" feel over the pure silicon case. It comes with a CAPDASE screen protector as well.
http://www.mobimega.com/capdase-alumor-metal-case-htc-hd2.html
Beware that the silicon case may not glue well to the aluminum backcover (I think it's the factory problem) which may leave a small gap between them when you put the phone in. I have to apply some glue to fix that myself. Apart from the case is nice and not too costly.

Hi,
I am seriously thinking about ordering one for my Desire (A8181).
But what I'm not able to find, is how it works. I mean, you seem to describe the case as a silicone skin, with a metal plate sticked to it.
I thought it was more like a silicone skin with another semi-case to "clip" over the silicon....
Can you confirm if I am right or wrong?
And can you post multiple angles pictures?
Thank you, it would be much appreciated!

thanks but
so uglly

Ohh Great!

Thanks for the pictures! To me is one of the best cases i've ever seen.

Looking for a case? Get the otterbox.

I'm on my 5th day with the case, the case provides the best protection for drops and scuffs but does have a few downfalls.
Pros:
-Sleek Design, doesn't add bulk like Bodyglove.
-Waterproofs and protects ports.
-Scratch proof screen protector like ZAGG.
-Easy install and removal.
Cons:
-Screen protector installation was botched 3 times, if you mess it up like I did by getting dust on the sticky side run it under cold water and apply it wet then remove air bubbles and water with a rag.
-Screen protector bends too easy, a corner is bent upwards.
-the silicon sections of the case collect alot of dust.
-Notification light blocked if its sitting down flat.
-No grip on surfaces like body glove.
I got it for $25 on newegg including shipping. No regrets.

In general, soft silicone rubber attracts dust due to static and then holds onto it. The Otterbox has the interior silicone liner that shows around the edges of the snap-on outer hard case.
If you're the type that carries the phone in your pocket, the rim around the screen will tend to grow hair. If you carry it in a holster (I have a generic Case Logic one meant for a Blackberry), you shouldn't have an issue.

Ah, yes I also had this issue with the body glove case. I don't have an issue right now though with the Otterbox.
For the dust issue there is a really easy fix, rub it off with your fingers it only takes a few seconds. Its a minor annoyance but nothing that makes the case not worth it. So far everything has been great with the case.

I don't actually OWN the otterbox, but I do want one.... time for an ebay search
I have had my otterbox case (commuter) for my hero for a month and a half now and love it. The case was kinda a bit thing for me as I work at a pizza joint (where we toss our own skins and make our own dough) so flour everywhere is a huge part of everyday for me. Flour has not been nice to my phones in the past completely plugging up virtually every hole available on my phones. So huge selling points for the otterbox was the cover over the headjack and usb port which work like a charm. It does collect dust in the corners but much better to have it collect there than where it can do harm. with a good screen protector on I can cover the speakers from flour also. The case feels natural in your hand and more like a part of the phone than something bulky covering it. It comes in two parts and its easy to take apart yet never comes apart with out you removing it. I pull it off and clean the small build up dust and flour every couple of days and it looks brand new again.
Well thats my review of the case. Oh yeah, one more thing for people who want one, I got mine from amazon.com shipped for $25 flat. So just incase your like me and kinda lost faith in ebay or what have you $25 on amazon is a good deal considering both otterbox.com and the sprint store sell these cases for around $50
The Otterbox Rocks!!!
I mean it!! Ok, let me tell you why!
Ive been skateboarding for a longtime and the things I've done to phones you wouldn't believe!
Ever since I got this otterbox I've thrashed my hero quite a few times from dropping it off my lap getting out of the car, falling on it from takin a crash on my board2, falling off the top of the car.
& it sat in a heavy ring of water for about 30 mins....I had no idea..lmao. Needless to say no water damage to the phone it self. Every opening ie covered and with a full scale screen protector you can make the phone look brandnew anytime you want.
I highly recommend this case! It's protected my phone ALOT!! I still have it

Picked mine off ebay for 13$. Seems to be good. Got a piece of something under the screen cover and I have a little circle off screen so no big deal. If I put the phone in my jean pocket it is covered in lint when I remove it =) Little tape or some rubbing and it all comes off.
This is my first rubber case for a phone I have owned and I have to say its pretty nice. Full functioning usb, volume, headphone jack, lights and camera while protecting the phone... cant really ask much more than that right?
Had my Otterbox case (Just Impact not Commuter) for about a week now, absolutely thrilled with it. Fits better than my wifes generic brand case, Screen protector is great, even after one failed attempt. Only gripes I have: Picks up any dust or lint or anything extremely easily. Grabs onto my jean pockets a bit too much, pulls them out a little bit. But those small complaints aside it's a great case and a great deal considering the screen protector is included.

I'm interested in ordering one, but since the price is a bit high i'd like to now more.
Picture of the HDII in the case and of the HDII next to the case would give a good impression of the total size increase.

Hi ET.
Ive had the defender case for about 4 weeks now and all I can say is ITS WORTH EVERY PENNY!..seriously
The phone is so much more rigid and feels like It can withstand a real drop! The screen film on the case has tiny pores so you can use the screen just as effectivly as you would without the case.
The rubber parts of the case are VERY thick, approx 3mm thick which protects the corners from almost any bumps and scrapes.
On the back the speaker is protected with what can only be described as a rubber membrane which allows sound to pass through as loud as it would be without the case. The camera lense is protected by the same film as on the screen.
The lightsensors on the front are still exposed so the screen powerdown in a call is not affected.
The button protectors are built into the case so there are no gaps between the buttons which prevents dust from getting between the buttons.
The downside to the case is it does add a considerable amout of bulk to the HD2. But my HD2 cost me a pretty penny and I am in NO position to even think of breaking it Also if the phone crashes and you need to pop the battery out is a bit of a pain to get open esp when your in a hurry!
Any questions just PM me or leave a post on here.
Hope this helps you.
It's not that I can't affort the defender case but I choose my case very carefully, it has to meet my demands I have alway's been using Pielframa cases wich are pretty expensive.
Could you please post pictures;
1. of the HDII next to the case
2. of the actueal screenprotector(s)
The HDII without any case is perfectly flat for smooth opperating the touchscreen, no upstanding edges, in the Defender case I notice that there seems to be an upstanding edge, does this interfear with smooth swiping over the screen (like unlocking the lockscreen)?
I've been looking on the web for a video placing the HDII in the case b ut couldn't find anything.
here are some pics of what someone else has posted http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7053061&postcount=88
I have this case and while it is a great case the raised edges oaround the screen do hinder the the swypeability somewhat, I use this case for when I am working or doing something more extreme, biking etc and for this it is excellent protection but i wouldnt use it everyday as I find it a little too restrictive for that use, I work with stone and so dust is everywhere all the time and for this it is the best for my purpose but maybe for everyday use the Commuter seems adequate, I will post some of my own pics when i get time as I can understand your questions on size etc...I would have like to have seen the same but in the end I just went for it. It even just fits with my bodyguardz protection still on which is a bonus!
In addition I would have to say what swung me from the commuter was the holster this is brilliant and a massive plus if you want to keep your phone to hand without fear of it getting crushed or broken

Ok, I bit the bullit and ordered one this afternoon, it will arrive next monday I hope. If nobody is willing to post pictures then I will!
I'll keep you guy's posted.
Ok, case arrived this morning and boy what a case! It fits perfectly and is nice to hold in in your hand. It does make the HDII feel bigger and looking at it, it does but it just looks and feels perfect, some pictures;
Some more pictures;
The protective screen is attached within the font shell, kind of a dust magnet but cleaning it first in the bathroom would work good (less dust in bathroom). The front and rear shell click in to place and then the rubber protective casing fit's like a glove.
Received mine just this morning mate! and it makes my hd2 more superior regarding the size! ahaha! it looks like it's the king of htc phones! The screen protector that is attached in the front shell is perfect, because of the dust magnet effect of it. Plus the rubber case covers it all and also the protection for hardware buttons is excellent! Worth the money and time of waiting! Sorry can't post pics now(i'm @ my office..) ahah!
It is really recommended to have one of this, specially if you want a secure $$$ phone.

What type of texture does the Otterbox Defender have? Is it a smooth/slipper texture or more rubbery/rough/tacky texture? Is the exterior texture prone to attracting dust/dirt?
What is the best way to clean the screen on the defender? WOuld it be prone to scratches or damage/tear?
IS the Defender easy to take apart if one had to remove the battery to reset or change?

rubbery/rough/tacky texture. not really a dust magnet, except for earpiece, it's not covered and become some kind of pit. search forum on how to clean the earpiece grid.
i just wash it. but i read somewhere "never wash it" because it got pores. it's plastic that look like it's prone to scratches, but apparently it's not quite. but if you carry it with your loose diamond in your pocket, i guess you can still scratch it.
took less than a minute the first few time, but you can do it blindfolded in few seconds after a while.

Video would be better
Got the Defender and (as you may have noticed in my previous scribbles) am EXTREMELY satisfied - though I just ran into my first qualm with it. I overly tightened a screw connecting the stylus cradle and created a crack in the belt holster. Completely my fault but I still think it's worth mentioning here.
Recap: don't tighten the screws connecting the pen cradle with the belt holster too much. My ratchet snapped (so hard I consider myself lucky to have been wearing eyeglasses, as a metal cog flew high velocity towards my eyes upon the occurance) and my belt holster now has a crack going through it's topside all the way through the plastic (still feels sturdy, just not as reassuringally whole) adjuscent to the respective screw placement.

have just bought one of these, it is awesome, best case i have ever had for any phone.

Hi mate! the OP posted pics of his Defender Case. Well, it's just the same. The screen protector was attached on the front face plate. Everything was covered except for the part of the light sensors. You'll get along with removing the parts for sure! At first it would really take you a few minutes before you can remove your batt just to reset the phone.

Best Hard Cover (rubber feel) case

Just thought I'd provide some feedback on a hard polycarbonate 2 piece case I just bought for my NS
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320644208392
It feels great and its also very hard to scratch off the rubberised black paint. Certainly a quality product for not much $$.
I've seen the review on the Best Buy hard case (purple one) and the phone doesnt seem to fit very good. However, this one fits absolutely perfect.
Another good point is that I found it fairly easy to split the case apart using a coin, without doing any damage to the clips or the phone. Other cases I've seen seem to break the clips during this proceedure.
Looks like a good deal, but I'd be careful with snap on cases. They tend to scratch the back of the phone or bezel over time. At least that's what happened to me. :/ Usually what I'd do is tape the edges. Thanks for the review.

Agreed. I always spray a little bit of Plasti Dip inside the covers, which gives it a rubbery surface on the inside.
I usually buy gel / tpu cases, but after getting some dirt inside my last one on the Galaxy S and scratching the bejesus out of the rear battery cover, I'll never buy a tpu case again.

E-Cell Luxury Protective Leather Case [BAD Magnet]

Well after a good review by another user here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1892017
I decided to buy the brown one last week, I had it this morning and tried it immediately. The case looks professional and feels nice to the touch. I thought the only complain I have is that it has no ridge on the inner side of the flap to stop the Nexus from sliding front/back when positioned in landscape mode.
But I discovered a flaw that plagued the earlier Poetic and other similar cases from amazon, in that the magnet is so strong, it put the device in standby mode when folding the front flap all the way to the back.
Watch th video here:
That's strange, my case does not do that? I can upload a video if you want?
I don't know...it's a shame as the case is really lovely but that's the first thing I noticed after I put my nexus on the case. Please do try it with yours.

im getting a refund for the case and I get to keep it too. I have compared the magnet location on this case and it is a little lower than the magnets on the other cases that I already have. tried relocating the magnet but it still has the same issue so my guess is the magnet is quite strong.

Ah that's good. I guess my case's magnet must be in a different location to yours as it works fine on mine.
Obviously nobody should have to modify a case they bought advertised with a smart function to get it to work the way it's supposed to, but for anyone dealing with a case that shuts the screen off if the front flap is folded all the way back because the magnet is too strong, I have a quick/cheap/easy solution if you don't want to mess with returns/replacements:
You can tape a little piece of metal between the case and the back of the Nexus in the same area as the magnet. This should stop the magnet from turning the screen off when the flap is all the way open and touching the back of the case.
I did this for my ASUS travel case. I taped a magnet to the front flap so I could use it as a smart case, but the magnet was too strong and kept turning the screen off when folded back. I added the little piece of metal and now it works perfectly. For the metal I just I cut a small square out of a tin can lid a little larger than the size of the magnet I was using. I just used a tin can because it was the nearest piece of thin metal I had, but anything small and thin enough that the tablet will still fit in the case while sitting on it will work. The tape will keep the metal in place and protect the back of the Nexus 7 from scratches. Haven't had a problem yet. It's not the most polished looking solution in the world, but you can't even tell it's there unless I remove the Nexus from the case. Just throwing it out there for anyone having magnet issues.

Cheers, I alreay tried a few sheets of aluminum foil, but it did not help, and
the Nexus did not fit snugly because it was too thick.
I'm looking forward to cheaper altearnatives of this one (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B008NMCPTQ/ref=cm_cd_asin_lnk) which looks like it has the best design, and offers the best protection.

Rear Back protector / sticker?

HI folks, I've found the back of my X Compact to be pretty bad at collecting scratches - much worse than my Lumia 720 (wish more manufacturers would copy that design idea of a replaceable body!!) Anyway, I want a protective and/or grippy sticker of some sort. Ebay and Amazon have nothing to offer so far as I can tell, apart from metal plates for magnetic dash mounts. Any ideas? I would have thought there would be some kind of rubber sticker you could buy but no luck. Any ideas?

Just type xperia x compact skinobi in amazon. They make full body skins for the phone. I think amazon only carries the clear and carbon fiber one though. You can also google skinobi and their website will pop up with more styles/options.

I am using a Cut it yourself type plastic screen protector i got from Walmart....it's flawless
Hi,
in germany there is a frim which produce curved foil for the front and backside :
https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B06XZCD6ZG/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The problem is, that die foil isnt hard. So if you have bubbles under the foil and you press to much, the foil get damaged. I try ist with a little less power and the last bubbles gone away from semself after 2 days. It protects the full screen und full backcover.
Greetings Kullino
I got this skin for the back of my phone, which makes it much easier to hold and resists fingerprints a lot better than the shiny back. It also came with stickers for the sides, but I just used the one for the back, which adds texture and friction.

Would you mind uploading a picture of your phone as it currently is?

sorry this took so long, here's the back sticker. I've actually now put on the additional ones on the sides for extra friction in my car dock (it was sliding down with each bump, but holds better now)

Very late response, but I've been using TPU case which protects back, sides, and gives a very small lip on front to keep screen off flat surface if laid on face.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M1HIQ5C/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
case is soft and grippy, very happy with the result after 6 months.
very inexpensive <$10.
No need; apply wax polish. I used Novus Fine Scratch Remover (#2), but I would think car wax would work just as well. I used it to remove some marred patches from when I dropped the phone on hardwood floor and it skidded a bit, and not only did those patches disappear, but so did the fine scratches.
I don't think this would be wise for the screen, however, as it would probably harm the oleophobic coating.
