Im App not uninstalling???Help!!! - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've deleted the IM app via adb and via flipz kitchen and it's still showing up both times under manage apps and consuming bout 10Mb of ram, so i clear data and nothing happens after a few secs data comes back to it and it goes back to eat more ram. Am I doing something wrong???

Boot into Recovery and wipe your delvic cache and see what happens then.

Tried that and didn't work, the IM app is still showing under Manage Apps and still using Ram, but thanks for the reply

its not the actual im app, its a process that im and other program use and may need it for update services. I would disregard it!!!

k got it, thnks, im not gonna touch it then...

Hello IM "Download Unsuccessful"

I recently switched from JF 1.51 ADP to the rooted HTC 1.6 ADP ROM, and I've been having an issue getting Hello IM back. Yes, I bought and paid for the $10 app ages and ages ago. When I try to download it since switching roms, it says Starting Download for a few seconds and then says Download Unsuccessful.
I emailed their support but they say they have no idea why. I need this app, it's the only AIM app I don't hate. That, and I paid 10 bucks for it.
did you do full wipe before you switched roms? going from cupcake to donut is a big switch and requires full wipe, might even format sdcard to be safe. maybe something is conflicting in the markets, cupcake market vs. new donut market.
you can also try going into settings > applications > management apps > and find the market app and/or vending app and clear all cache and data. then try again.

Yes, I did a wipe, I didn't touch my SD card though. Do you really think it'd be necessary to format the SD card?
you shouldnt need to, wiping should be enough. i'm not sure. maybe try the other method i said, go and clear all the data caches for market/vending apps. sometimes that does work. clear it then reboot. maybe even clear out your dalvik-cache too.
adb remount
adb shell
rm -r /data/dalvik-cache/*
reboot
not sure if any of this will help but worth a try. i usually do that whenever i upgrade roms or switch roms. sometimes when i get force closes, clearing the app caches helps.

Wiping the app cache didn't help. I don't really know how to do that dalvik cache bit either, I'm not a very advanced user when it comes to linux-based systems.
doing the dalvik cache probably wont help since doing a wipe is almost the same thing. not sure what else but you can do some testing. go back to a cupcake rom, using cyanogen's rom, see if the market works for you. or try another 1.6 rom, there are a few in the dream forum like akirah's. maybe the 1.6 you flashed had bugs.

I'm formatting my SD card and switching to the rooted T-Mobile Donut now.
Yeah -- soon as I rebooted after installing the new rom, Hello IM began downloading. Thanks for the assistance.
glad it worked.

Apps won't install anymore - Froyo

Just recently I can no longer install apps. From the market or anywhere else, I always get "INSTALLATION unsuccessful". My phone storage has 50mb and plenty of space on my sd card. Also I set the install location to where it installs to sd automatically. What's the deal?
Anyone have this problem?
im also wondering this. often i get this. the app wont install at all or i have to wait a while to try and install it again n it works. wonder whats causing this
x3
I've been having this issue too, and not only in Froyo.
U moved the dalvik cache to cache partition and cache partition is now full
I find a solution! If you were having problems similar to me, this should work. Anyways, goto terminal, su and type:
rm /mnt/secure/asec/smdl2tmp1.asec

I'm having this same issue. I formatted my system, data, and cache. Now nothing will install. The suggestions above haven't worked yet.
Has someone found a solution yet?
This is happening for me too...my market/play store keeps force closing and I can't install 90% of the things I try to install (even things that have been on my phone in the past). I feel like chucking my phone out the window I'm getting so frustrated.

[Q] What stops a Market app installing?

I cannot install Skype!.. I select install from the market - and I get about 3 seconds worth of download - and then it stops. Other applications and upgrades work quite happily. How do I find our why Skype isn't downloading or installing (Unlocked & rooted N1 +enom's latest ROM). 2Gb free SD space - 35Mb free apps space.
Thx

Sometimes apps fail to download from the market.... Dunno. Cancel it, exit the Market, and try again in a bit. If it starts and fails, it's likely a temporary thing. If it downloads and actually fails to install, you can reboot the phone then try to install it again.
Yeah,,, I have had some apps that wouldn't install when others did. Tried a day or 3 later and all was fine.

Still no luck. Rebooted - cleared the cache, cleared the dalvik-cache. I have193Mb Memory, 45.15Mb App Space and 2.29Gb SD space.. and Skype still won't download - let alone install. I get 1-2 secs of download arrow, then nothing. I've tried Wifi - and FSM connectivity.. nothing is happening for me. Where can I get the apk from to install manually?

What does your log say?
Logger on the Market.

[Q] Everything on my phone simply stopped working.

So I woke up this morning and found my phone acting weird. And after a couple of reboots and cursing my phone is acting like never before. EVERY single application is force closing and NOTHING will start or change. I am stuck without being able to turn on WiFI or disable air plane mode. I have not changed anything on my phone that I can think of that would to this. Just suddenly nothing works. I would like to wipe and factory reset but I can't backup my data.
Hope someone can help!
Using CM7.1 stable with glitch kernel (newest)
EDIT: nevermind.. wiped the phone anyways
Try rom manager....fix permissions

Now my phone started to fc everything again. Fixing permissions does not work. I don't know what to do.

Did you wipe the Dalvik cache? This + Fix permissions helped me when I was having FCs
Yes I have. It works for some time then the problem slowly creeps back. Let's see how long it will work now.

clean flash?
That is what I did and it came back. As of now, flashing the latest gapps seems to work so far.

I have to state that your thread title is misleading. Obviously, on your phone, at least battery and screen ARE in working condition...
i meant flash a stock rom with odin including pit file... do you experienced those problems?
if that is what you have done there is nothing i can help you, maybe some more experienced people here can help you
I only experience this with cm7.1. Now, yesterday I wiped my phone completely and decided to reinstall cm7.1 and i did. I even restored my apps via market to make sure my backups were not the cause. Now, just a moment ago my phone went nuts and a temporary cure is to wipe cache and fix permissions. Usually it starts with google apps (some framework fc) and then everything goes.

Next time your apps start force closing, and clearing cache, dalvik cache, and fixing permissions does not work, take a look at your /datadata folder and make sure there is space in there. If there isn't, any apps that write data there will force close. Keep that in mind.

Thanks man, how do I check this though? Es file explorer is not telling me much
Also that folder is jammed with folders about each app.

The /datadata folder is essentially where apps keep some information. If you try to install an app without enough room there, it will say insufficient space; likewise, if it's really full and an app needs to write data there, it will force close. The size of this folder usually differs between ROMs.
I know Root Explorer shows the size and free space at the top for the folder you're in. I'm sure in other apps you could long-press the folder and there may be an option for folder details or something, but it's really dependent on the app.

why i get force close every app after wiping cach/davlic cach?

Normaly i dont wipe. Because i get this always bit was in a good mood so was yeah i installed laatest nightly and wiped cache/davlix.
But like always it makes force close every app. Okay 50% then but still.
Developers always say do that wipE cache/davlix no need to factory reset.
But when i do that my apps force close......
Why is that.... i know its davlix cache but is does both. So what to dp? Or does it fix it self the force closes?

You should always wipe cache and Dalvik before installing / updating rom.
Do you have more than 50 apps in sd? If so, that's what could be causing the problem. Move some back to 'internal' memory, until there's less than 50 in the sd card. If that's not the case, then I suggest a clean install (use acmeunistaller then in webOs, use 'remove android', or something like that. You can get this in preware. Then, install android again, using acmeinstaller3). You should be good to go now. Good luck.
Do a backup, just in case.

yeah that must be the problem..
have like 150 apps..
okay now i get it, because i have always some apps who force close if i do a cache/dalvik cache clean.
no i get why i get that thxx
i learned some thing new.
but i have notist some thing titanuim always force closes, after wipe, i wont start need to re install how can that? its on tablet not on sd...
but never mind i dont like updating nightlies because i use 132dpi i find 160 to big.... and 120 to little
so every time i update need to reput it in 132 fix market.. i use old market... 3.5.X because 3.10.9 doesnt work well doesnt show 80%off the apps on market....
