Needed Chinese Handwriting input for traditional & simplified - Omnia II Themes and Apps

Hi ! can anyone advise me if I can use my Samsung Omnia II to do chinese handwriting traditional & simplified input? I have WM6.5 As I need both the traditional and simplified character for my PDA correspondence, I hopely can find quickly some apps that can support it. I currently have and HTC Touch II which can do the handwriting input, but I am having so much problem with the this device that I give up using it. It is brand new, but it hang on me several times (incoming/out going calls), cannot sync with my pc, battery got very hot suddenly (that is when it is not charging). I went to HTC to replaced it at least 3 times for the different problems each time, but til today it still giving me problem. Now it intermittently doesn't ring when there is incoming call and give a miss call msg. My son gave his Omnia II to me, which I like it better the the HTC (also the ring tone for HTC is very soft). The only disadvantage is currently using Han Yu Pin Yin for chinese. Not good for old man like me who only uses hand input only

I've been using the CE-Star Suite for quite a while. You can do trad and simplifed chinese handwriting recognition on it, as well as the regular pinyin and yue pin, plus a few others I've never used.

yup, I am using CE-Star R3c for input, there are also a lot of different ones on Chinese forums, search them.

Simplified Chinese Input Output on the Kaiser

I sold my "old" Hermes (SoftBank X01HT) and bought a new Kaiser and so far everything seems to work like it should.
On my old Hermes I managed to install both a font and a SIP to be able to view and input Chinese.
Although this did not always worked 100% it was a reasonable solution.
Now I have the UK edition of the Kaiser and I want to be able to input Chinese.
After searching the internet and trying the "old" PlumSIP 5, which I got from a colleague because it supported the keyboard in the Hermes and worked fine. I found out that it does not seem to work on the Kaiser.
Could anyone point me in the right direction to be able to input and output SimplifiedChinese on my Kaiser?
Now I managed to find a font, which I believe is from Windows Vista, for Simplified Chinese and it seems to work although not 100%.
It does manages to display Simplified Chinese in e-mail and the Pocket Internet Explorer but when I copy Chinese from an email to the browser, it messes up the chinese.
Does anyone have a working solution to be able to display and input Simplified Chinese on the Kaiser?
If these is a paid program which does work then I have no problems paying for it.
But so far "Monster Chinese" and "CE-Star" both **** up the device
A bit sad to reply to my own post, but none the less....
When using CE-Star V2.8R3A with the included Simplified Chinese base and Pinyin + Handwriting input everything seems to be working fine.
I also have Monster Chinese 6 but have not yet had the time to test it.
I installed CE-Star, and I can input, but it all becomes squares, as before.
HOW TO find a font that works, and where to install it? I use the seach function and keep ending up in something too complicated!
To begin with, I just want the squares to become chinese hanzi signs, simplified chinese at least ...

Found it !!!!!!!!!!! See the link above - install these two cabs to read hanzi signs. Before, only hanzi inside word, now all works, file names, sms, internet explorer and so on ...

Diamond keyboad-question, switching from Hermes..

Hello everyone,
I wanted advice before I get a O2 XDA Diamond. I've been quite happy with my Hermes the past 2 years, only missing GPS feature and I always wish it was thinner! From the size the HTC Raphael isn't much better I have the feeling, so I've been looking into the Diamond again.
Now, the hardware keyboard in many situations is one of the best features on my Hermes, the occasional chat, or the longer email..before I switch to the Diamond I wanted to know how good the software keyboard is.
I've been playing around with the SIP PCM-Keyboard on my Hermes and if that works on the Diamond, or the standard SIP keyboard on the Diamond is similar, then I'd make the switch.
So, how good is it? Things like adding contact addresses, phone numbers, writing the occasional chat and the longer email, the daily text messages..
thx for any advice and experience, pplz who had a Kaiser or Hermes
Got the same situation here! Switched already from a Hermes (Tytn 1) to a Diamond. In the beginning I really had to get used and sometimes wished I never switched phones simply cause im a sms addict and thus loved the hardware keyboard lol. However, nowadays I'm getting really fast in hitting the letters on the touch screen with the stylus. Not as fast as with the hardware keyboard, that's impossible... but I'm managing it lol. Also, if you type a sms or an e-mail and rotate the screen, like the Tytn did automatically when sliding out the keyboard... but you have to use 3rd party programs on the Diamond to manage that.. then I'm even able to type on the screen with my fingers. But, I don't have fingers as big like a Wiener! ;-)
Give "Touchpal" a try I find it better than the diamond default sip, unfortunately it is a commercial app. Once you get used to it it is very fast and finger friendly. PCM Keyboard was always my favourite until I got my fingers on this. It has a few idiosyncrasies but after a very short time I was as fast if not faster than I am on my laptop, but I'm really crap at typing!
Aside from all that I've just upgraded from my beloved Artemis (RIP in the hands now of my 9 year old son) and the Diamond rocks, WOW.

Does Touchpal have predictive sentences? Just upgraded from A Vario 3 to the lovely Diamond. Used to love the predictive sentences on the Vario. Doesn't seem to be as good on the Diamond. Same for contacts. Used to whittle down the options letter by letter but have to wait until the end of the first word now.

SelMUI 2.2 Confirmed to work on X05HT and X04HT

SelMUI made by cfcompany.co.jp has done me a great service.... for those gaijins that need english on these phones this product works...! No lie it's awsome...! It truly works and i was the guiena! Highly suggest if you want these phones in english without Flashing your phone this is your best bet!
I brought this and installed it on my x05HT and works great as you say, however there are a few limitations;
- The softbank mail app remains in Japanese
- Some japanese specific applications like Navitime, English<->Japanese dictionary are only Japanese.
- Some random kanji still show, like the days of the week in the calander.
The above is to be expected somewhat since these are standalone applications and not part of Windows Mobile.
SelMUI also converts the Touch Flow 3D interface to english.
Touchflo 3D
You can switch the language of the interface just by modifying a registry key and soft reset your device
I'd like to try it for my HT01A, where did you guys buy it?

typing on the device

Hello,
I am really thinking of getting the HTC touch diamond2. I currently have HTC tilt (or tytn II). I use it mostly for messaging. Anyways, my question is: how easy is it to type on the device? Is it as good as an iphone (better or worse)? Can you use your finger tips or do you have to use the stylus? Is there a video I can watch someone typing on it?
Thank you
I have moved from the Touch Pro (with keyboard) like yourself I used it for texts and emails, I thought I would hate the new keyboard but its pretty good, its got heptic feedback on the keys and they are nicely spaced out. Its very responsive to use, the best HTC keyboard I have used and I dont make many mistakes and dont have to use stylus.
new keyboard is great for typing...holding it in two hands a writing with both fingers without any mistake...
That is indeed good news. Can't wait until I get mine. Hopefully it arrives tomorrow. I also type a lot on it and I am hoping that will be a pleasant experience.
Personally I have gone from an AT&T Tilt (Full HW Keyboard) to the TD2 and also thought I would hate the lack of hardware keyboard, but it has really grown on me, and with no problems at all with typing I might stick with the TD2 instead of going onto the TP2. It just works for me, though lack of 3g sucks for me here in the states... lol
I'm thinking of maybe getting the UK version, cause the device is delayed here in Norway.
Question is: Is it difficult to access special symbols (letters) like Æ Ø Å on the UK keyboard?
I've never owned an HTC device so don't know how one normally access them. They are however crucial, and used quite frequently.

This is a very interesting question, I have refrained from UK version till now, waiting for the french version only to get a soft keyboard with french layout (including é, ç, à, ...). I do not care having the OS localized in english (in fact, i would even choose english over french for the OS), but the qwerty layout is a deal breaker.
Is it possible to change the keyboard layout? Or even better, add different keyboard layout and T9 dictionaries so they appear simultaneously in the WinMo entry switcher? I would love to just switch among the different keyboard installed if needed (having a french one and a non-western thai one would be great, adding japanese would be even better )
I ordered mine from Expansys and they told me, after having talked to HTC, that it would be possible to update the device to include different keyboard layouts. I hope this is correct, because I cannot be without Swedish characters. Otherwise, could Fingerkeyboard solve the issue?
Hi!
Originally I got the 20th of April as a dispatch date form KlartSvar (the reseller used by my employer), but as you say the device is delayed. I talked to a representative from Brightpoint this morning regarding the delay, and he said that the new delivery date to resellers is the 5th of May. Hopefully this is correct, I will wait until then before deciding if I have to look around for a WWE edition somewhere.
If someone could give some information about if it's possible to write accent characters on the WWE xT9 keyboards, I would appreciate the feedback.
I guess that cabs for all languages for EzInput2 (topaz HTC keyboards) will eventually be available anyway, when localized devices start hitting resellers in different countries.
Regards,
PK

Are you using the default EzInput? And in landscape mode or portrait? I have a Diamond and had to give up on the Full QWERTY as well as the Compact QWERTY because I hated one-handed typing (and it was too small to type with both hands).
I am currently using SpB Keyboard on my Diamond, with the landscape fullscreen keyboard, and so far that has helped a lot. I can type really fast with two thumbs now.
Special characters are available with the WWE version using the HTC full qwerty keyboard. They aren't visible on the keyboard, but if you press and hold for example the a key a popup character selector appears giving access to
eight different variations of accent including the Æ and Å (I'm typing this on a MAC and don't know how to access these characters on it so can only copy and paste)
You can also used the standard WM keyboard and get at them by pressing the symbol key, but its really only usable with the stylus.
I've got a Diamond, so my question is how is the qwerty keyboard in portrait mode? The reason I ask is because I read a review that said the screen width has not changed between the Diamond and Diamond2. That doesn't seem right. Can anyone comment on both the screen width and typing in portrait mode?
Hi!
Thanks for the feedback! What about the xT9 dictionary then, is it possible to switch to a different languages in the WWE edition? If so, which languages?

PK

Its locked to english, but there may have been an option to select a different language at setup time, to be honest I can't remember and don't want to hard reset to find out. Perhaps someone else will know? If its English only that shouldn't really be a problem, just flash a ROM in your own language when its available.
Got my D2 today. Very happy. But there is no language option as far as the keyboard goes. Have not tried fingerkeyboard yet.

Keyboard Replacement for Diamond II

Although i love my phone, sometimes it bugs me when sending messages or emails. I was wondering if there was an application out there that would allow me to either (temporarily) replace / swap arround the full screen keyboard for a standard cellphone looking like keypad (as in where you have to "press" the buttons multiple times for a letter) but would still support the "AT9" feature.
I used the search & found somethin like Finger Keyboard 2 but it does not support my native language dutch. The auther claims that the dutch language uses the same as english layout. However this is only partially true. The phone does come with a qwerty layout, but its the dutch (NETHERLANDS) that use QWERTY on keyboards. I myself am BELGIAN (dutch, totally different country) and we use the AZERTY layout on our keyboards. Although it are minute differences in the layout it still often leaves me searching for letters, symbols.
Can anyone help me ?
You might want to try this and see if it works but i cant say it will 100% but give it a shot.
