Acer Liquid E! - Liquid S100 General

Hello, How do you think is this something new or just Liquid with Eclair?
If so what will be the next Acer step for old Acer liquid S100?
gizmodo.com/5471820/acers-android-21+powered-liquid-e-may-be-the-ecstasy-youve-been-looking-for

seems to be just the liquid plus eclair... no hw differences

in the official site acer say that there are 512MB RAM vs 256 of normal liquid

[Q] The benefits of GB on OB??

I am looking for a phone to get my mum for Christmas and have been considering Optimus Black as a possibility. The phone looks so sexy and sleek but its screen is large and the display awesome. It's not a high performance phone but that means it isn't as expensive which is good for me
That brings me to the point about the pending gingerbread update and its possible benefits or drawbacks. I was at Telus (I live in Canada) today and tested out one of them and found it to be slightly twitchy. Scrolling from canvas to canvas and up and down through the launcher wasn't too bad. But when I was adding widgets and zooming in and out of the homescreens it started to respond more slowly. My mother will mostly browse the web and stream videos but I didn't get a chance to try those features out because the lack of a wifi connection. I am worried that it might not be as smooth as I'd hoped it to be and
that my mom will start complaining that I didn't get her an iphone
What I want to ask current OB users is:
1) How do you find the web browsing and Youtube video streaming (as well as streaming 720p videos)?
2) Will the Gingerbread update make the overall experience smoother or slower (the guy at Telus said the Gingerbread update will in fact make it slower)??
Thanks for reading and giving your advice!
Hi,
I'm considering this phone too.
I really doubt that GB will be Slower than Froyo. Every single review that i saw, said that this phone will be faster with GB.
The main thing that i'm not so sure about this phone is ICS Support and availability , so i'm considering Xperia Neo too.(it already has GB ROM)
True. If ICS support is important for you, going with sony ericsson's 2011 phones is your best bet.
Btw, what's the difference between the neo and the neo v? They look exactly the same and they seem to be exactly the same on paper except for the camera (I'm guessing that 's what the V stands for) :-$
It's not even like the xperia arc and the xperia arc s where the s was somewhat of an upgrade...

Hi,
Difference between those two is : sony factory in Thailand has problems supplying ExmorR 8MP CMOS Sensors , so they downgraded it to 5MP, and also some minor software changes.(BTW , i'm not sure about screen quality of Neo vs Black too)
Backing to your Question: again I don't think GB will cause more problem than Froyo.
Oh I see! wish there was a shop that had all the phones in the world
Not just plastic models :-(
But thanks for your reply. OB does seem like a solid choice though se, phones look tempting too. Any other phones you're looking at that 's around that price range?

Hi,
Another option that i'm looking at is Samsung Google Nexus S (i9023). In my country price difference between them is around 50~60$. It doesn't have SD Card or Radio FM , but 16 GB Internal memory and from DEC 17 , Google started to roll out ICS for this phone (all carriers should get it in 1 month time frame).
In canada i think it's available with Bell & Virgin mobile & NCIX is selling unlock version for 350 (special sale)
I've got the Samsung Galaxy S II X from Telus a few days ago and I'm thinking of taking it back and getting the LG Optimus black.
The GS II is sooo big. You must sign a 3 year contract for it and Telus evaluates the device to 600$.
Right now the Optimus black is 299$ (0$ with just a 2 year contract).
I like the fact the screen on the LG is IPS and it also has the Gorilla Glass.
BTW: Coming form Motorola Milestone must say Gingerbread (latest Cyanogen Mod 7) is the best thing that happened.
The battery life improved (was getting 2-3 days) and the degree of customization is fantastic.
CM7 for Optimus Black is already available so I would worry more about the official ICS for Optimus Black.
I've seen a post where someone was quoting LG UK on Facebook that ICS will come on Optimus Black in 2012.

Hi,
If the size is your main reason to change (Beside that SGSII has superior hardware compare to Optimus Black) , then don't do it.
SGSII Dimentions : 125.3 x 66.1 x 8.5 mm
Optimus Black Dimentions : 122 x 64 x 9.2 mm
The difference (3mm) is almost nothing. Check this too :
http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=3704&idPhone2=3621
Beside that , SGSII will have official ICS ROM but Optimus Black, i don't know ..
and if official ICS is too important ,you can go with Google Nexus S (already has ICS)
My second smartphone at home is my daughter's Xperia Neo V.
In my opinion:
Neo is slightly smaller so better for smaller women's hands ( better grip )
Black's display is better ( more crisp )
OB vs GSII

I had no idea the dimensions are so close.
Thanks for pointing this out.
In the end, I think the SGS II is a keeper. I guess I over reacted reading all the stuff about the flash counter, amoled burnin, etc.
Correction:
I checked the specs myself and the SGS II that Telus sells is the Hercules version so here is the comparison:
Optimus Black: 122 x 64 x 9.2 mm / 109g / 4.5" screen
SGS II X : 131 x 67.3 x 9.4 mm / 109g / 4.0" screen
Still not too big of a difference.

O2x or photon what is your guest?

Hi bros,
I am using LG O2X right now but I find a motorola photon little price.
What should I do? Whice device is better then other?
To buy the photon is a adventure or right decision?
I am really confused...looking forward to an honest suggestion from the experts
Thank a a lot for your suggestion.

Photon has larger screen and higher res (albeit with PenTile), more RAM and larger eMMC.
Other than that, they're pretty similar.
Hello!
As already mentioned - on paper the photon has the better hardware.
So…
What is the price difference?
What are your needs?
Will it get ICS soon?
Is it supported by Cyanogenmod? (Right now the photon is not officially supported…)
LG Optimus 2x is supported by Cyanogenmod and ICS is in the making.
For me the form factor was important – I didn’t want my phone bigger than the LG Optimus 2x so I decided against its competitors which are all bigger than 4” - and it was 50-60% cheaper than Samsungs S2 or the HTC Sensation XL at this time (August 2011).
And one year from now - both will be hopelessly outdated anyway – and the next generation (probably not dual but quad core ore more) with much more power, ram, better display etc. will be even cheaper – for sure…as always in this business…

Another tablet worth considering

Lenovo IdeaPad (IdeaTab) A2109 @ Best Buy for $299
I’ve been looking for a tablet to replace my rooted Nook Color, but have been put off by all the threads here and elsewhere concerning screen lift and other problems with the Nexus 7.
Many of these comments come from Sr. members, not from new member trolls.
The newest Best Buy sale flyer lists the Lenovo IdeaPad A2109 tablet for $299.
Here are the highlights:
Tegra T30SL quad core @ 1.3 MHz
9” screen – 1280x800
1 GB RAM
16 GB flash ROM
ICS 4.04
1.3 MP front facing camera
3.0 MP rear facing camera
Mic
Stereo speakers w/ SRS sound
Micro HDMI port
USB 2.0 port
Bluetooth 3.0
8 hour battery life (6000 mah battery)
9.3”x6.5”x.46” – 20.1 oz
Quadrant score = 4047
Google play store & Lenovo app shop
What it does not have:
GPS
Compass
Micro SD card slot (same as the Nexus 7)
JB 4.1 w/ butter
Not rooted yet
After considering what is important to me, I chose the Lenovo. The 9” screen decided it you me.
My 60 year old eyes need all the help they can get.
So far, it’s available at both Best Buy & B&H photo. $299 both places.
Beware of the spec sheet on Lenovo.com; it shows this model as having a TI 4430 dual core processor @ 1.0 GHz.
There are apparently several models of this one for multiple markets.
Reviews are hard to come by, but there is more info @ gsminsider.com, including a link to a review in Chinese.
With so many new tablets being released, it’s difficult to choose. Good luck in finding the one that’s right for you.
