Google Map for i8000 - Omnia II Themes and Apps

Hi guys
I tried Omnia B7610 today and realised there is Google Map installed in the phone. My friend claimed it was pre-installed.
How can I find this Google Map app to install in i8000?
I went to Google but it stated that i8000 is not supported and have to use internet style instead.
Kind bro.... Pls advice.
Rgds

it should be preinstalled or at least the cab should be on your I8000 as default.
if not, you can get a copy on google @
xyz.google.com/mobile/maps/ ( sorry your going to have to mod that addresse as i cant put the link in directly being a noob here . take the XYZ out lol )
id go for the newer version as it suports now the internal GPS. the preinstalled google maps is ok but not as complete.
cheers.

You can just point your mobile web browser (other than built in explorer) to m.google.com and select maps.

For Google Maps install cab and others to;
- Go to Start -> Smart Search
- Select Web tab
you will see various cabs availalbe to install from both Google and Bing.

Hey.
I had the same problem. But I seriously just googled Google Maps App I8000 and took the first hit to download the app.
I didn't find the preinstalled version or the .cab on my phone, but if it doesn't support the internal GPS anyway it's good a got a newer version.

Very helpful stuff, thanks. I googled it but wasn't sure how to get working on my Omnia

NEW MIDlet Manager with Google Sat Maps!!!

HI ALL,
risidoro is back!
EDIT: VERSION 11.1.7.1023 IS NO MORE THE LATEST ONE. I'VE PUBLISHED THE MOST UPDATED VERSION (.1034) HERE. PLS USE THAT ONE AND DO NOT CONSIDER ANY MORE THE POST BELOW!!!
I'm here to release a New and Improved version of the great:
Intent MIDlet Manager version 11.1.7.1023
This new MIDlet Manager comes from the new HTC Herald ROM, version 1.2.405
This new version is JTWI 1.0 compliant and SUPPORTS Google's SATELLITE Maps (of course, you need to download Google Maps' client from www.google.com/gmm).
This release also supports sending SMSs from Opera Mini 3.0 (mini.opera.com)!!!
Some Details about the program:
Developer: Intent
Name: MIDlet Manager
Version: 11.1.7.1023
Build: 20060907
JWTI v.1.0 Compliance!
------- HOW TO INSTALL ------------
- Download Risidoro's Intent MIDlet Manager version 11.1.7.1023
- extract the cab (inside the archive) somewhere in your PC (e.g. Desktop)
- copy to somewhere in your PocketPC (e.g. \storage card)
- in your PocketPC, navigate with File Manager to the cab and tap on it to install
- when asked, choose to install in the Device (and NOT in Storage Card!)
- reboot when asked
PS: It can be installed over previous version (or in roms where the old midlet is included)!
-------- WORKING MIDLETS ---------------
So far, i've only tested it with the midlets i use the most.
- Google Maps runs fine. Satellite maps are supported!!!
- Opera Mini 3.0 runs OK too and supports SMS sending. Even softkeys works! Photo blog feature, however, is not supported
- Mobile GMaps, beta 1.30.08. Simply wonderful. Sat images for google and yahoo maps.
- MobileMule (latest beta) works ok.
-------- PROBLEMS SO FAR (and possible solutions) ---------------
- a user wasn't able to use this version to connect to the Internet through a proxy
---> use a direct connection to the Internet; check your proxy; downgrade to the old MIDlet manager version.
- the cab cannot be installed due to a security warning
---> soft-reset and retry; use MS Certificate Powertoy for Windows Mobile 5 to disable all the security checks
- If you want to revert back to the old version of the Intent MIDlet manager:
Download the Intent MIDlet manager version 10.1.7.551
Bye bye
ENJOY
Great job as always risidoro!
Thanks!
Thanks...will install shortly.
Kirby
Sweet, thanks! I was just lamenting this problem a couple of days ago.
Great work! Thanks a lot!
Thanks for the file. I'll give it a try later.
Thanks!
As always, you rock!
Great work and thanks a lot
Thanks for the file, Risidoro. I have downloaded it, and will try it later. Good to have a better midlet manager.
For those concerned with using gmaps on their phone, however, there are a couple free native Windows Moble programs which will display such maps. I find them much more convenient than using a Java midlet, no matter how good the midlet manager might be.
One such program is called Map4PDA, another one is Virtual Earth Mobile. And there is also Microsoft's new beta "Live Search". There may be more, these three come to mind right away. (I don't have the URLs handy. You can find them with a search.)
There is also another Java midlet map program called MGMAPS, which I find more flexible than Google's GMAPS. (It will show the Google maps, or the Microsoft maps, or Yahoo maps, and has other more flexible features.) However, I still find it much simpler to use a Windows Mobile app, rather than a Java midlet.
why use the google one? dny238 found an app that is free and blows the google maps out of the water.
http://wls.live.com
will even allow you to use your gps reciever with it and update the image as your driving.. just my .02 cents
and if i could learn to read it looks like "me" mentioned this one above

I prefer native applications too (although i couldn't live without Opera Mini) but microsoft's maps haven't a good satellite coverage in italy compared to google maps so i don't like MSN virtual earth or Live search very much. I didn't know Map4PDA and i'm going to install it very soon, i hope it supports google sat maps!
Thanks for the suggestions. Let me know if you remember some other google maps compatible native software.

I can read and yes, i know MS's Live search; however, as i said, MSN satellite maps are not much detailed outside US, especially in Italy.
With Google sat maps i can zoom over my house until i can even see my car parked in front of it! With MSN sat maps i can only see all my town, when i try to zoom more i see a message informing the area is not mapped.
BTW, i've just tried map4pda and i've found it slower than mgmaps (a midlet). Map4pda is a .Net 2 application so it's not a real 'native' application, its code is managed (or runtime) exactly like any java applet.
I'll stick with mgmaps until i find a real, compiled, ppc application.
Anyway, if you believe in the newer-is-better paradigm like me (*), you will want to update your midlet manager with the newer version i posted. Just my two cents.
(*) the paradigm doesn't apply to MS's latest OS. IMHO, XP (or 2003 server) is ways better than Vista!

i guess i sometimes forget that not everywhere is covered as detailed as the US..
anyway, im getting ready to try this on my 8525/hermes and will let you know if it works on it!
**EDIT**
works great on the hermes, and im lazy and posted this copy/paste on the hermes board, and gave you the proper credit for the work!
thanks but I wasn't able to complete the install of the new MM on my MDA Vario II (Hermes) due to some "security warnings". after going back to some previous midlet manager (v10.1.7.551) I ALWAYS get an error message (sth like "midlet won't run") if I try to run ANY java midlet (jar or jad). any ideas on how to solve this?
Problem report ...........

FWIW, the Map4PDA works well with a bluetooth GPS receiver and Faria's 12mb AKU3.2 ROM RC1. (I overclock and plug in the charger and the phone/map/GPS plotting zips along).

I tried installing this version yesterday, but found I cannot connect via a proxy on my tzones setup. I uninstalled and put the version I pulled from X's extended ROM and it worked fine. Not sure if anyone is interested, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

TomTom 6. Need assistance!

Ok I d/l the tt6 taster version I assume? It comes with with the software and one map to d/l. My question is.....where the heck do I get new maps from? I went to the site and clicked on maps and it says their system is down! It's been down for like 2 weeks now!
I open the prog on my Kaiser and it doesn't give me the option to purchase maps on there. Well at least to my knowledge it doesn't. Where do I go from here? Suggestions? I've searched and searched and all I can find is the "tasters" version. I tried d/l some other cab file for my device but it tells me I need to update my ROM for it to work.
I just want to get some maps dang it!
please!!!!! haha

Thank you! But those come on DVD disc. There is no section where I can purchase online and download map instantly?
I think you may have to install TomTom Home, which is installed on your PC. From there you can purchase maps and install it on your device. I think you can get TomTom home from TomTom's website.
I downloaded TomTom taster for Trinity (p3600) from HTC and installed that. Now to get maps
Try this link for TomTom Home (It's found under the Plus Services tab on their website). Don't forget to download the version for Rider and Navigator 6.
When it's installed, run it when connected to your phone and it will find the GPS receiver. This will pair your phone with your TomTom account (I think this pairing is generated using the IMEI) - you can then buy maps through TTHome which will be associated with your phone.

Find deleted .cab's

The other day my friend purchased a new T-Mobile Wing. He asked if I had any cool app's to put on it so me, being a nice friend, installed some stuff. Well now all of the .cab's are missing from my memory card. I was able to re-download Live Maps and Google Maps but "Beta_Super_Arcade_v1.0" I couldn't find.
Is there anywhere the cab could be on my phone, or does anyone have a link to download it?
Thanks.
PS- Is search not working for everyone, or is it just me?
Do you or your friend use a configuration / tweaking tool?
Schaps_adv. config has a setting "delete cab after install" this is what may have happened!
Well he didn't have pretty much any 3rd party app's other than the ones that came preloaded with the original Wing ROM. And I have KaiserTweak/Advanced Config but I don't have the "Delete cab after install option chosen" so obviously his did by default.
Anyone have the Beta_Super_Arcade_v1.0 cab?
The wing auto deletes cabs after install.

Download TomTom 7 for HTC Touch Diamond

I searched around but there was no download link for TomTom 7.0 therefore here is a download link of TomTom 7.0 i don't know if it works perfectly with MAP version v675.1409. after testing this version of TomTom please let us know what u think and if u see problems with maps !! I've tested it with map 675.1409...he ask me serial number when he find map....any suggest?
sorry for my english
Yes ... buy a map and you will get valid license for that map. Please beware about warez talking on this site.
does de 7.XX maps wil work on it. I mean the maps that works on the tomtom standalone devices
Post reopened.
Happy New Year!!!
Hello everybody... I am a new owner of an HTC touch pro, awesome little unit. Ive been searching hi n low for the Tom tom download link,,, no go, rapidshare has deleted them... anybody know of current links? Be much appreciated!!! When I get spooled up, I will share what I find, just got er yesterday, my eyes are bulging from all the fun
Im not sure if this is borderline warez.
I have tomtom 7.910 and currently running on version 8 maps.
Is posting of the application allowed here but just not the maps - if so, i will post the application.
Sample map and postcodes
Can somebody guide me how to activate postcode search functionality for UK when using sample downloaded map? Is it possible at all? I've downloaded the file from TomTom website, extracted it to various places like Program Files/Navigator, Internal Storage etc. and it still doesn't work.
Any help appreciated
you don't extract the files, just put the files and the folder 'zip' in your tomtom program file
zip being american postcode not zip and is zip file
OK so where exactly should they be? At the moment it looks like that:
\Program Files\Navigator\ZIP\Great_Britain.postal
\Program Files\Navigator\ZIP\Great_BritainPostal.ver
But I tried several other locations as well.

Tomtom by itself unmodified is NOT warez, however there is versions on the web which has been cracked. Those are warez versions of tomtom.
The newer Tomtom7 versions had their map authentication updated, now it authenticates license online. There is versions on the web which deactivates that additional authentication, if you post one of those then it is WAREZ.
Original unmodified Tomtom7 is a free program.
hi everybody! the link for download is not avaiable anymore... where can i find it again?

which windows live?

I've encountered a few different versions of windows live/windows live search, which is best and fast? i just want the live search function and that's what i seem to have on my tilt right now.
i have windows live for windows mobile 10.6.0034.0800, and all i use it for is the windows live search plugin on the today screen, i dont use my hotmail or messenger. is there a better search function with a today plugin? what do you use?
I'm confused too.
I'm looking for a version that has MSN/WL Messenger with it, but I can't tell which one has what.
I have Windows Live 10.6.0038.2701
and Live Searce 3.0.3047.24749

Thanks. I'm pretty sure I had that version at one time, but "upgraded" and it was gone. I'll put this one back on (assuming I can find the CAB)
i had to hard reset my device twice yesterday after installing the official version from the microsoft site ..
it has some nice new options like disable sync/connecting when roaming ...
but after reset the device would hang in the green windows mobile screen ..
i now found a zip here on the board that works great:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1281625&postcount=4
btw google has a today plugin too that works great .. the version released a month or 2 ago had some bugs but i downloaded and installed it today and works fine now.. http://mobile.google.com
Give a try also to PALRINGO......

Just a FYI for others, some may get Windows Live for Mobile and Live Search for Mobile confused. Windows Live is the app that syncs hotmail, and has the mobile MSN Messinger, which is the one your discribing. Live Search is a differnt app all together.

Live Search voice recognition
I've installed Live Search twice from the microsoft link but 'enable speech recognition' is greyed out and no client update is available from the options.....
Am I missing something here to get this working....?

Just uninstalled at reinstalled that one - still the same - anyone else any ideas??
I believe the ones I have posted here are still the latest.
I use them daily, with voice recognition, e-mail, etc:

Voice recognition greyed out:: Sussed
Right folks I have just figured out why the voice recognition is greyed out on the windows Live search interface. Now I'm sure some of you have already sussed this but voice recognition is only active for US residents. (not sure why must be configured for an American accent or something). Thankfully I have found a work around all you have to do is set your country of residents to America in the start screen (simple eh). this also seems to still work when you have clicked on the locate me button get a fix on your location.
Hope this helps as it has taken me a few hours of searching around.
