wear and tear? - HD2 Accessories

Does taking in and out wear off the plastic or whatever it call on the main case? i am using clear silicon type which sometime i need to take it off to replace my batt. and found out the side of the device had some wear off. any 1 encounter this ? thanks

Yes, the paint in various parts is tearing off on mine. Only build problem I've seen so far.

I'm surprised a silicon case would damage the finish, they're generally quite soft...
But yeah, I'm using one of those "rubberised hard cases" and its taking off the finish, was doing so within about a week...can only get worse...

I have a leather case with a plastic internal clip in section, fits great but is also removing the rubbery coating at the corners! What a crap design to cover it with this stuff, why not just texturise the plastic case?

I've purchased the HTC PO511 leather case with flip off screen protection and it fits perfectly! also the internal plastic clip is covered with microfibre cloth so it completely protects my HD2 from scratches. This case is something I would recommend to everyone who hates to get the HD2 out of the leather pocket everytime you wanna play with it.

How easy are these silicone cases to take on/off? I'm thinking of getting one, as I'm butter-fingered and drop my phone a lot, but I also find myself having to take the back cover off the phone, to get at the battery / SD card etc, and couldn't be doing with it being a bugger to get off.

Aluminum Metal Case

I received yesterday my protection for Leo. I share with you the results of this:

Thanks for sharing; however you would have been better off posting in the Cases thread where we all go to see what's happening in the world of cases.

Agree with above poster, can a mod fix this?
Nice case! ive also ordered 1 last week at PDAir, the 1 without a screen, so easy acces, but fewer protection. I am hoping its more solid so i can put it in my back pocket without getting a red face everytime i realize i accidently put it there...
When did you order it and did it took long (i am eager to get mine, but now hope is gone till monday or tuesday...)
I disagree.
The "Cases" thread is too long and too complicated for discussing any one specific case.
Anyway I ordered mine just a moment ago and would very much like to hear how quick was the shipment, how snug is the fit and how reassuring the neoprene feels
It's a shame they opted for a plastic screen protector instead of either a window-less aluminum door or a transparent cover that lets you work with the touchscreen.

mohasea,
How thick is the plastic cover over the screen?
Does the plastic cover flex?
Do you think the plastic cover would prevent the screen being cracked if dropped screen down on ummm concrete?

I totally agree, wish they had a solid aluminum front door instead of the window cut-out covered in plastic or the other option they have of no plastic window cut-out. I would order one now, even not having my Leo yet, just because the front door was solid aluminum.
I am going to contact PDair and see if they would leave a few front doors out of the cnc cutter and have a full cover aluminum
Would you like one too, Duperman ?
Thank you,
Monnie
I have ordered an open screen case despite it may not fully protect the screen. HD2 has a glass screen and it is hard enough against scratch as what has been in iphone.

Absolutely
Mine, the one without screen plastic, is supposed to arrive between now and Jan 27th next year...(sometime)
take care
Anyone got theirs yet?
Would love to see some detailed photos and a review of the case pros/cons
Thank you,
Monnie
I'm debating whether to go with their leather flip case or this aluminum case...
I got this case and immediatly wished there was no plastic screen on the front door. So, I held it over some boiling water for about 2 mins and and then used my thumb nail (not kidding it was easy) to pry the plastic from the metal. The whole lot peeled off easily, i replaced the foam into the case and BAM perfect case. (be careful not to rip the foam, but if you do it will still stick back. also the foam stretched out a bit but pushed back into shape no problem. TIP: Work from the front side of the case, wedge your nail into the seem and loosen it all the way around. If it starts to get tough again, hold it over steam for a while longer.
Also.. when the plastic was still inplace and the case door was closed, there would be random screen presses and that was not cool, however now that the plastic is out, i can leave the door closed, press when I want too, AND there is no random case presses
I know this sounds like a poor fix, but it worked awesome and it looks like it was SUPPOSED to come this way.
Now all i need is for my zag shield (front only) to show up and im perfectly protected (minus water damage dammit)
awesome case guys im not kidding. you dont have to put the nubbin on in the back either so it doesnt add much bulk to teh phone. good luck yo.
Got mine too and I use the black open faced aluminum for local use and insert the whole unit;
aluminum case and all into the Maxpedition "Rat" wallet for carrying on belts etc.... http://www.maxpedition.com/store/pc/...&idcategory=11
Like it alot....
FWIW
well, do not kill me if I say so .. but it is ugly as hell.
I do not say that it does not protect the phone, or the the finishing it's not ok .. but from a slim phone with a huge screen, it looks like a bullet proof brick with a screen.
The whole idea of an elegant smartphone it's gone.
Small question: what do you hate about the original leather case?
It is elegant, slim easy to use and protect the phone in normal use conditions or small accidents.
Capdase Alumor Metal Case
Bought this silicon w/ aluminium backcover case by CAPDASE in Hong Kong, adding a more "solid" feel over the pure silicon case. It comes with a CAPDASE screen protector as well.
http://www.mobimega.com/capdase-alumor-metal-case-htc-hd2.html
Beware that the silicon case may not glue well to the aluminum backcover (I think it's the factory problem) which may leave a small gap between them when you put the phone in. I have to apply some glue to fix that myself. Apart from the case is nice and not too costly.

Hi,
I am seriously thinking about ordering one for my Desire (A8181).
But what I'm not able to find, is how it works. I mean, you seem to describe the case as a silicone skin, with a metal plate sticked to it.
I thought it was more like a silicone skin with another semi-case to "clip" over the silicon....
Can you confirm if I am right or wrong?
And can you post multiple angles pictures?
Thank you, it would be much appreciated!
thanks but
so uglly
Ohh Great!
Thanks for the pictures! To me is one of the best cases i've ever seen.

Body Glove Entrepreneur snap on case - review

When I got my Flipside there were not many options for snap on cases. Actually, the only one I could find was the Body Glove Entrepreneur snap on case. I got mine from eBay for $10.95, including shipping.
It has excellent fit and does not add much bulk to the phone. I feel that the phone is easier to handle with the case on.
The Flipside's camera protrudes from the back of the phone slightly. That means that without the case the phone never laid flat when placed on a table. With the case on the phone will lay flat and the camera is protected.
The back surface of the case has a raised pattern on it that keeps it from being slippery. The case does not pick up lint the way that silicon of soft rubber cases often do.
The case just snaps on the phone, but it is very secure. It is easiest to remove the case if you open the keyboard first.

Good to know. I've always resisted getting cases for my phones for this very reason. Pulling out your awesome new phone only have pocket lint stuck all over it makes anyone look like a rookie...

Best Hard Cover (rubber feel) case

Just thought I'd provide some feedback on a hard polycarbonate 2 piece case I just bought for my NS
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320644208392
It feels great and its also very hard to scratch off the rubberised black paint. Certainly a quality product for not much $$.
I've seen the review on the Best Buy hard case (purple one) and the phone doesnt seem to fit very good. However, this one fits absolutely perfect.
Another good point is that I found it fairly easy to split the case apart using a coin, without doing any damage to the clips or the phone. Other cases I've seen seem to break the clips during this proceedure.
Looks like a good deal, but I'd be careful with snap on cases. They tend to scratch the back of the phone or bezel over time. At least that's what happened to me. :/ Usually what I'd do is tape the edges. Thanks for the review.

Agreed. I always spray a little bit of Plasti Dip inside the covers, which gives it a rubbery surface on the inside.
I usually buy gel / tpu cases, but after getting some dirt inside my last one on the Galaxy S and scratching the bejesus out of the rear battery cover, I'll never buy a tpu case again.

Review - BENTOBEN Shock Absorbing Dual Layer Hybrid TPU Slim Fit Hard Case - Black

Note: I received a discount on this case in return for reviewing it.
This case is better than others which claim to offer a huge amount of protection because it is not as bulky as most of the others. One reason could be also because it does not in fact include a cover with a built-in screen protector for the front, although there are lips which do stick up around the front to protect it when the phone is placed face down on a table.
Wireless charging works well with this case as well which can be an issue with other protective cases.
The back of the phone is a shiny plastic material which can be a fingerprint magnet to a very small extent, but that is not nearly as noticeable as an issue as the phone has on the back when it has no cover. The back is also curved on the sides like the bare phone itself, so it is very comfortable to hold.
In order to make up for some possible slipperiness on the very back, you can see by the photos included that that is more than made up for by the rubber "grippy" sides. I would have preferred the side on the phone with the volume buttons to have the same rubber material all the way up the side as the side of the phone with the power button, but that is just my preference with which everyone may not agree.
On the front, the top lip and the bottom lip around the screen are hard rubber, while the sides edges are in fact the same plastic as the center of the back of the phone. They do not fit right up to the edge of the glass the same way - so on the front you can see a little of the metal edge on the top and bottom front edges of the phone with this case. However, it is just this one 'slight flaw' that makes the next paragraph possible:
It may sound counterintuitive, but what I like most about this case is that is not only a very protective case for the phone, but it is also very easy to slip on and off the phone at the same time - the rubber and plastic pieces do not have to be pulled apart from each other to put the phone in or to take it out. Just grap a couple corners and with a little effort it will pop off - not so easy that it would ever slip off on it's own - it is very snug. It may seem like a silly thing, but I have a custom proclip holder in the car (for the bare phone) - and I like to slip my phone into that when I get into the car. As that requires removing the case and slipping it back on, when I am using the other protective cases for my phone I am forced to just not use the proclip holder those times when I am driving - except not with this case!
All in all I really like this case and I'll be using it a lot!

Probably one of the other reviewers. I still have mine.

Original Elephone P9000 case issue.

My case is creating tiny scratches on the screen, just to make everyone aware the plastic around the "S" window is the culprit.
Maybe Elephone could consider changing the design of the case to resolve this issue.......

got same issue... i placed the glass protector... now is the glass protector that take scratches.... btw i dont suggest anyone to buy the original elephone cover... is just a piece of **** useless ... and made very bad ... the ingenier behind must be a complete idiot!
I bought an original flip case but it doesn't close properly and the phone doesn't seem to fit in 100%.
Trying to use the side controls with the official flip case drove me nuts. Now using the silicone cover that came with the phone along with tempered glass screen instead - a massive improvement
The screen glass is not scratch resistant ... poor.
I have discarded the flip case, with the window, for three reasons.
1. The plastic surround to the window was scratching my screen , the outline of the window has been etched into the glass.
2. It is much easier to use the clear plastic backing case, for answering the phone, general use and removing the card tray,
The flip case is a very tight fit.
3. I wonder whether the magnet in the case, which is in very close proximity to the card tray, is affecting the SD card and causing dropping of the connection and resultant corruptions.
Since I started using the clear plastic case, I have had no SD card problems.
I had issues with the tempered glass and the silicone cover.
Switched from always using the original flip cover. It was too annoying, the volume plastic thing broke off and had to use some other plastic bit in there. Also in a car mount its just in the way.
The tempered glass i had on was damaged putting on the plastic case, had one in spare and so far that works. Ordered some other tempered films just in case.
