Is my phone dead ? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hello,
After a few months without using my Touch Diamond (unlocked, as far as I remember the only "tweak" I did was a new radio rom), I've tried a few days ago to use it again.
Problem: I can't switch on.
Anything I try, (soft reset, hard reset) does nothing.
I plug it to charge the battery, nothing happen.
It worked well before. Is it bricked, or do you know another trick to swith on this phone ?
Thanks for your help.
kjb
EDIT: sorry, I was pretty sure I already posted before... So hello, kjb, french in belgium, 28 years old

Hi, welcome, sometimes when the battery is dead, you will not be able to switch the phone on, even when connected to the charger. Charge it for half an hour and try again. If it still does not switch on, then maybe you should contact a repair service.

Hello,
I've already tried to charge it one full night (even if the phone's button was not highlighting), and it changed nothing.
So my battery would be dead... At less, I know what's the problem, now.
Thank for your answer

Diamond Shutting Down

I don't know what is happening but the last 2 nights my Diamond turned itself off during the night.
The first night it was due to my diamond having a battery leak, my entire battery drained during the night so I couldn't turn it on until i charged it.
But last night was different it just turned itself off and this morning i needed to switch it on again, when i did it was fully charged :S
Are there more people experiencing this problem and if so, what is the last thing you do before laying it away for the night?
I usually kill all programs (with the default menu in the topright) and then run oxios closeapps.
I'm getting the same thing. I have a UK T-Mobile MDA Compact IV (HTC TD).
Last thing I do is close all progs and leave on the home screen plugged into the manufacturer supplied AC charger.
When I awake in the morning 5/10 times it's shut down, no idea why though!
Might be a heat cut out while charging thing?
Jamie
I think your handsets are fautly. if you have warranty just send them for repair. and if you are withing the 28day limit then get a brand new replacement
dead as well
same over here Netherlands t mobile, phone runs for half an hour and then its dead , only to wake up after taking out the battery. I have already flashed the phone so , BeyBey phone???
mine is uk tmobile and have seen it just shut down without warning
i knew the battery was low though, it was also damn hot, switching back on whilst connected via usb would see it get a few seconds into booting before black screening on me again
cant decide if it needed more juice in the battery or cooling down before i would start properly
as i didnt get a low battery warning, which i know does work, i am suspecting over heating - it was serioulsly hot
Have you guys upgraded ROM and Radio?
i know i havent
i have installed a few apps but not flashed rom or anything

Hey all.
Flashed my compact with the following
Olinex 1.40 Hard SPL
Shone on 1.4 WWE Rom
1.00.25.05 Radio
I also swapped battery with the wife's HTC Diamond for a few days then swapped back (may make not a drop of difference) but the closing down issue has not repeated itself at all.
Good luck & hope my information is useful
JSM1970
I've had my MDA C IV for a month now, it happened to me for about 3 nights in a row, a few weeks back. But not had the problem since. Not flashed the phone and only installed a few apps.
Somewhere here is allready a thread where many people are reporting reboot of the diamond over night while it is charging. They stated it happens only with device plugged in, so perhaps all posters in this thread have encountered the problem also with plugged in Diamond.
Because so many have this issue perhaps it is not a faulty device, but a faulty design of it. If only loaded my device once over night and did not payd attention to this, but I fear my device will do the same thing.
I haven't had this problem, but then I have never charged my phone overnight. Why do that? The phone can be recharged quite quickly. When i am at work, I simply connect the phone to my laptop USB. Syncing and charging at the same time. That's about it. Indeed I have never used my charger for the last 2 years with my Hermes either.
hi guys,
im having the same issues, maybe worse, im new so please be nice...
i came back to my phone and the screen was black, the only noticeable sign of life was the ''breathing''...
as i normally do i pressed the key to turn it on but this time it wouldnt turn on...it was as if the screen was frozen...after a while it came back on but than the phone was frozen...tried pressing more keys and than the screen went to a ''static'' like display (like what u get on a tv)
the phone then turned off for no apparent reason...after a few minutes of repeating this i decided to do a soft reset...
its back to normal...for now.....
the battery is full...
thoughts?
Thanks
Had a the same thing on my Touch Pro a couple of times. Sounds like a common fault.

l have the SwiftBL-WWE-Diamond-v7-5-Full-16MbPP
Unsigned-Hard-SPL-Diamond-Olinex
and DiamondCustom RUU
previous rom was swedish and was working fine

suddenly my Touch Diamond cannot be turned on, again! (again RMA?)

Hi,
first of all: i spend much time searching this site (and the web) but i did not find any comparable posts, unfortunately.
My problem:
The Diamond cannot be turned on. By pressing the on button it stays off and gives absolutely no response.
I tried a lot of things but without success, e.g.
- battery out (>30min)
- charging long (over night, but even the LED are not shining)
- charging over USB
- hard reset
All useless the phone stays dead.
My Question:
Does anyone has an idea what the hell is goning on with my Diamond?
Do i have again calling HTC support, shipping the phone and wait at least 2 or 3 weeks for repair?
I think they send me a new battery the last time (Serial-No was different) but the phone was the same.
I was very happy with the Diamond in the beginning, but as the phone robs much time for nothing my euphoria is getting less. (no i will not buy an iphone
I hadn't such problems with my lovely old fat HTC Universal.
Thank you all for you help and hints in advance
Problem solved. Battery was absolutely dead, i bought a new one. Maybe my charger is not ok. I try charging it via USB for a couple of days.

Major help needed !!!!!

I restarted my phone this morning because it was going really slow. so after I restarted my phone like I always do, it stayed at the ericsson splash screen and won't go past that. So then as many ideas come to mind, I tried reinstalling my rom (CHT WM 6.5, which i'm willing to share the link and all that for those who wants it), after it finished installing, it just stayed at the gray screen and did nothing. so after that, I tried HARDspl it once more to see if that was the issue. Tried it, but nothing happened. so once again I turned off my phone and then tried to turn it on. here's the funny part. I can't even turn my phone on anymore and I don't know why. I tried pluging it in to the charger, the lights didn't even go on....
I think I bricked my x1.
PLEASE HELP !!!! I DON"T KNOW HOW TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM.
I've only had this phone for a month, and there's already been so many problems with it. It's a big request, but I really would ask if someone can teach me how to reverse and fix my problem.
I would suggest you to charge your battery for a night, then reflash with a stock rom using Micro SD method to start everything again
try a hard reset ..
Guys
I've tried both methods, and my phone still has no reaction.
right now I have my phone right beside me. the red light is still on even though my battery is in.
What other things could I do?

As stated, recharge the phone overnight and see if it doesn't turn on in the morning.
I've tried that but then it still doesn't work. I used the orginial charger + usb to charge last night ( directly plugged in to the wall socket, not through a power bar or anything like that ). when I woke up this morning, I tried turning on the phone and it still doesn't turn on. but then when I plug it into my computer, the red light turns on at the power button. the computer still can't recognize my phone as a valid device.
does that mean I have to give up to send my phone back to sony to be fixed??
should I just give up and send it back to sony to get it fixed?
I even called into to sony to ask for help...when I asked about the software, they just said send it back in to let their "professional" technicans to look at it.
I broke the screen on my old w810i and it costed me 80 dollars to fix...I only wonder how much it'd cost them to replace my battery and reset the software...
This is a very sad day for another very big sony ericsson fan....
Your phone probably ran out of battery, or at least that's what the red light means.
This is what I did before - remove the battery, then plug the phone in directly into the wall charger, and then slap the battery back in and wait for about 10 minutes. Usually the USB (computer) doesn't charge enough for it the wake.
i've tried doing that too.
generally I charge my phone through the wall charger.
and the whole time i've been trying to solve this issue i've kept only using the wall plugins to charge my phone.
i'm guessing as well as you are that my phone's probably out of battery + maybe the battery is unbalanced as well.
i think the main issue above the power not working is some how one of the .nbh that i have tried is corrupted. as far as my wm + computer knowledge goes, I don't have much of a clue how to back track to fix the software issues.
hi all..
first of all, it's -for sure- runing out of battery.. it has to be charged anyway..
I had your issue before with my old universal -JasJar-,, it had a red light all the time.. trying to turn on.. even after a time in charger,, still dosent make a sence !!
after all my searchs I tryid another battery from a shop- just for testing the devieces in there.. and..guess what ..
it just worked out !!
just try another battery..
it might-i'm not sure- that both our issues were related to the- the internal backup device battery- by someway making all of this when the main battery is out of order !! ..
waiting for your sucessfull results then
that's great to hear. I'll definitely update everyone on that battery issue as soon as I can get into a store to get a battery test.
SO, here's another thing, IF by any chance my phone turns on, what in the world could I do to get my phone to not "malfunctioned" anymore? would I just do a full reset on it and everything should be alright again? by full reset i mean pressing the soft reset button and the two silver buttons in front of the phone.
If it does turn on again, let it fully charge before you try to flash another ROM onto it. I'd probably flash the R3 ROM before I'd switch it to anything else, just to be sure that the phone is fully operational.
thanks for the advice. i'll definitely keep that in mind when I am about to do anything with the phone again.
hey everyone! I just got to a rogers store today about my x1.
so here's what will happen.
they'll send me a brand new x1 in about 3 to 5 business days. in return, i'll have to send the phone that I have had back to them so that they can see if it can be fixed or not (which i have strong confidence that they can't).
if it can be fixed, they'll tell me how much it cost.
if i pay for that cost, then i can keep my new phone. if I don't want to pay that cost, then i'll have to send that brand new x1 back to them.
I'm praying hard that they won't be able to fix that phone so I can keep the new one for free!!!!!
finally the x1 arrived!!!!!
so now hopefully it will stay working and then rogers won't charge me for the new replacement that they sent me!!!

Hello,
i've switched my x1 off while charging, and the phone doesn't work anymore.

it simply doesn't do anything? or are lights blinking (phone|power button), do you get vibra feedback,...?
does it still show usual light pattern for recharging when connecting to wall socket?
probably tried to start after batty was out of housing?
any additional details?
this is what's hapened:
I was browsing the web using an edge connection, when the battery was going low. I plugged the charger and resumed browsing. After a few minutes, I switched the phone off (without disconnecting edge), to have a sleep.
When I woke up, I tried to use my phone and it didn't switch on until now.
there's absolutely nothing.
I tried to charge it but after hours nothing. no led, no vibration, no sound
I used a universal charger but when I put the battery into the phone there's no response.
...
I had the same problem a while ago... In my case i believe (not sure) it was a problem with one of the installed apps because after a hard reset it didn't happen anymore. Did you try to do a hard reset? Or try to enter the three color bootscreen? In my case my phone eventually turned on again without any reason... It happend a few times more after that, but now that I use a cutsom ROM it never happens anymore. I heard other people talk about this aswell so maybe it is just a XperiaX1 bug.... Good luck!

Kaiser recovery

Hello,
i have a really bad week. First my PC crashed badly, then the HDD went corrupted, now my Tytn2 can't start.
Last night i was listening music before i went to sleep. This morning i woke from the vibration of the phone when restarting (when i softreset it vibrates). i didn't turn off the device when i went to sleep. it was on a charger. i quickly removed the battery. i waited 2-3minutes, then i placed the battery, turned it on, the same. it turns on for 2-3 seconds, then it softresets. i placed another battery, the same. i removed the sim and the memory card.... the same.
my question is: is there a way to extract my info (i have contacts in my phone memory)? then i will hard reset and i will re-flash.
Thanks!
I'm using Stylez rom with 1710801 radio
Well if you have sync your device before on another computer...you can have your contacts there.
Try again with another battery, seems like there is an issue with it.
i tried another battery, no change. i tried to hard reset it, but nothing happens... ?!?! i don't know why. i hard reseted my phone many times, but now it doesn't work. i tried to flash new rom (some times it boots successfully and works for 1-2minutes and then it resets) but in the middle of the process it resets again and now i don't have even OS on my phone...
Thanks!
edit: i managed to remove the battery, while on usb power (still on) and tried to flash, but the phone still resets. maybe its a electrical problem... i don't know what happened. it was only recharging.
What kind of " other " battery did you put in. This happened to me, I put in an extra , but still not new battery, and the same thing kept happening. After trying everything, I bought a brand new battery and it booted right up and has ran flawlessly for the last six months.
What kind of charger where you using? I used to see this all the time in the Wizard forums, people would use either over or underpowered chargers that would essentially break the phone. ALWAYS use the original OEM charger that outputs EXACTLY 1.0Amps. Don't use one that outputs more or less.
with a little luck i managed to flash new rom and new radio. for now its ok, its stable.
Thanks!
the other battery is 1600mAh Cameron Sino, and the charger is OEM.
Good to know that you solved your problem
