It's finally done, n00b3r and me have done to map keyboard layout for our Xperia.
Installation:
Download latest rootfs.img (see attachments)
Backup old rootfs.img
Unpack & copy new rootfs.img to your root sdcard
Run haret.exe
Use your hardware keyboard
The next update will be for the azerty keyboard mapping
Note: This rootfs.img not work for the moment with Hero build, as explained n00b3r:

You could, by doing this to your rootfs.img - so you don't have to make another rootfs.img for developers only:

Then only people with a dummy dmesg-enabled file in their sdcard will get output.
Edit: Yep, those work fine for me too. I'm using English - Canada locale. I tried every English locale and Chinese as well, and it doesn't effect the hw kb layout.
So number keys are working for some people?
This is what i done:
1. Deleted all traces of android
2. Copied Android 2.1 Hero files to card
3. Replaced rootfs.img with your one
4. Run android
And keyboard is still messed up
I try to make rootfs.img for Hero version, each system.sqsh has a special rootfs.img

You need to CID unlock. You can use the automated tool I made. Check this forum to find it.
btw, Hikey, nice job on the rom port! One question, how did you edit the build to include Hikey.NET v7.1? I've always wondered how to do that.

The input method is named "PlumSIP", it is for chinese user only.
if you are english user, you should install et9 for shadow.
Thanks, it works, but one problem thos, it seens dopod c750 has different keypad layout to shadow, which make it so hard to input text.

I packed it.
Really like this ROM. I think the only issue is on the input method. If there is a working t9 english solution, and can switch between Chinese, ABC, T9, number, then the ROM is going to be perfect.

Anyway to view in English?? I'm still VERY new to all this! I work for Sprint but I have the Shaddow and I very badly want WM6.1 on my phone, but being this is the first time I've ever tried to install anything on my phone I want to do it right. I appreciate ur patience in this.
The camera works fine. MMS I do not use and have never tried. But regular text message works fine too. And it can display English.
Regarding input method, I found a trick, the Rom actually already have Pinyin, Bihua, T9English, number and chars input.
The problem preventing it was that the * key will lock the phone instead of switching input method.
But if you install the language pack below, the *key will be reassigned to allow switching input method. (The language pack itself will NOT become the selection, only the key becomes switching the original input method.

This patch will allow you to see all apps in Android Market - not just QVGA resolution. Most of the apps will work just fine because Android downscales them automatically, it's just some developers are so lazy.

Issues feedback:
- button light and somekind of screen illumination on while on stand-by,
hence great battery drain (20% in 30 min) - only actuaully used the phone for 10 min
- keys are mapped differently than in Fatsal's Xperoid (for instance, the end key is sfor standby and screenlock, OK button for back)

'au' button seems to work as 'blue rectangle' key...not like in WM :/

How to get orange marker(3rd screen)
First you need download apk-manager and hex editor(eg. HxD). Open apk-manager, put swype apk to place-apk-here-for-modding, run script.bat, type 19, then 0, next 22, choose your apk, now 9 to decompile your swype apk, then go to folder projects> swype_apk_name > lib > armeabi - here you find file libSwypeCore.so wich you must open in HxD. Now CTRL+F, change to searching hex - anywhere, to textbox write DD A2 5B. Now open eg. Photoshop, double click on color picker, choose color you want. Go to http://home2.paulschou.net/tools/xlate/ and in dec/char write numbers from picker in that order:
BLUE GREEN RED, so if you have color(hex: f0ad1e) you should write: 30 173 240, press decode and copy HEX address. Now back to HxD and just press CTRL+V, but but the previous address must be selected(if not search it again). After that CTRL+S or in menu choose save it. Now in folder you get new file with .bak extension - delete it. Back to console and type 11 > y > n, next 12, new apk is in place-apk-here-for-modding.

is yours installed to system/app? if it is you shouldn't sign it, otherwise, it should work, cause ive modded it before and signed it and it worked.
Oh, did you uninstall the original swype first?

In package 2.15 you have skin with microphone for QVGA/HVGA/WVGA, in 2.6 is without microphone.

How to change keybad in HW keyboard from the English to Arabic :
1- Download omap-keypad.kcm.bin and extract in your Sdcard
( Check The Attachments ).
2- By Root Explorer ( Root required ) copy omap-keypad.kcm.bin and go to
System - Usr - keychars
3- Paste and replace - change Permissions to rw-r--r--.
4- reboot.
Use any keyboard to write arabic.
- If you want to write English by Hw keyboard you should by install TSwipe-Pro and Tswipe milestone ( in the Market ).
1- Open TSwipe-Pro settings.
2- choose Hardware Keyboard .
3- choose Layout - Select - milestone .
Note: Now if you want to write arabic by Hw keybaord choose the default keyboard or any keyboard support Arabic, and if you want to write English just choose TSwipe.

If you want to write by english you should be to install TSwipe-Pro and Tswipe milestone ( in the Market ).
