My Xperoid (Android On Xperia) Review - XPERIA X1 Android Development

hi everyone this is my 1st thread In XDA il just tell what i think and what is android on Xperia looks or how it works
1st of all i tried most versions available over here.. i might be wrong so people you can correct me..
what i got working on my Xperia in most versions :
*WiFi (hmm fully working)
*Phone (3G,Edge) all builds with no video call support??
*backlight (on) (off when sleep)
*Sounds ( Speaker On *(always on)*) (headphones On *not recognised by radio??*)
*Connection (Internet connection,MMS)
*Keyboard, Keypad
*SMS (send,receive)
........... Etc
Whats Not Working and problems have to be Fixed Soon so we finally can Get fully working android on Xperia X1:
*CAMERA (not very important right now because i think its hard to play with in porting)
*BATTERY usage or drainage ( Has many reasons i think because the Speaker is ALWAYS on ( you can put it Near your Ear n listen to it even when the phone is in sleep mode) programs working in background ( if you put your in sleep mode then wake it up later and check Advanced task Killer you will see many applications are working) Wifi always on?? ( if you don't turn on the Wifi in windows mobile android wont recognize it??
*front Keypad buttons wont work after leaving your phone in sleep mode for 1 hour (approximately) (Ok button) (right button) only???
*Bluetooth (atleast for file transfer)
*GPS i dont think its that important Now (at this time of port)
Other things are Working properly...
*****************************************
To get the Phone charging And with wifi working:
You have to plug it in Charge and make sure Wifi On before starting Heart
IF you dont plug it into the charger before Hitting Heart and you plug in while your in Android It will show that it is charging but it wont charge??
*shows Charging animation and you will see that the battery percentage decreasing as your using it without connecting to the AC adaptor
*****************************************
i think we have to go on to fix The battery drainage And Bluetooth now..
Together We Can Make It Better
Xperoid

they say forcharging that the battery drains more than it charges so it decreases...
for other things its all like you say, I pray for having great android on xperia because I love this phone and dont want another, but I dont like winmo ...
Google Roxx so I really want Android..If I could I would help but i dont know anything about it... so all I can do is Support all devs here!!!!! all do your best, there so many people waiting for you to make us dream of Android on X1 !!!

No Theres this thing you have to do*
Before hitting Haret You have to put the phone in charge and leave it charging until android is fully booted then if u unplug it and plug it again it will charge normaly
* Charging led wont turn off even if your phone is unplugged from the charger so i prefer to change the type of the led to (blue pulse)
anyhow it will go bk to normal when using Windows Mobile..

so if they solve battery heat and led problem we can use it everyday

and I think the touchscreen's less sensitive than in WM, maybe running on top WM make it a little slow

The battery Drain and heat i think its cause by WiFi because i think its always on...
I Android On Daimond and it didnt get warm but the drain was still there!!

Battery problem

Hi,
I just bought my Kaiser 4 days ago.
I am using the bluetooth adn an SDHC card.
My problem is, following: the batter goes every day empty! I unplugged from the charger 4hours (I was using the phone for one our), and the batter is on 34%.
Do you have the same problem or my batter is wrong?
tnx:
Adrián
Wow, really fast battery drain.
No, I dont have that fast drain.
Do you use data connection all the time? Wi-fi? 3G?
Backlight? Power off when device is not used ...
Worth to check.
I switched off the online data connection and the 3G..
I jut pulled off the SDHC card for testing the battery...
I hope it will help..
How often do you charge the battery, and how long do you use the phone per day?
It depends ... between 1 or 2 days ... and I usually charge when it is at 30% - 50%, during evening.
And I use 3G for browsing the internet for now and then randomly also MSN/Yahoo chat.
I suggest to hard-reset, and run your phone without any app installed.
Then see the battery drain.
big source of battery drain for me was the WiFi and the push email.
I have also noticed the battery drains pretty damn fast. Much faster than my wizard it would seem. I am slowly disabling things to see if I can find the source. Otherwise I am calling HTC and getting a new battery.
Are you leaving Bluetooth on? That will drain the battery pretty quick

Nope - no bluetooth - no push email. Its very wierd.
sorry i was referring to the OP
I am using the Spb GPRS Monitor.... Does it need extra battery power?

I think that is not correct. Bluetooth hardly has any influence on the battery drain.
You can leave it on for ever.
But do a test yourselve.
1. Load the battery 100 %
2. Set bluetooth on or of and put your baby to sleep for 8 hours.
3. Check the battery situation in the morning, the first time you start using it. You should, in 8 hours, not have lost more that 4 till 5%.
That is with GPRS and no 3G or HSDPA. I did not test that, but...
You will see that a night with, or without, makes hardly any diiference.
But maybe I am wrong.
My personal experience is that using GPRS ( Phone=GSM only) is the most efficient. Especially if you have Messenger on the whole time.

Hi
When Bluetooth is on the device will not go into standby even if the screen appears dark as Bluetooth needs the OS to be alive to work, so if you have programs loaded that are using CPU cycles the battery will drain quickly as these programs will run continually.
Regards
Phil
The only thing that I am saying is that my phone, in 8 hours, with bluetooth on, uses max 4% of battery drain. With blutooth off I see no difference.
The phone is in sleeping mode, so people can call me. What else can I say?
So I cannot say that Bluetooth drains my battery faster. At least not visible to me.
I tested did a long time ago with several systems. the last one, before my Tytn II came was on blootooth its whole life. And now again I see the same at my little kaiser.
Huib
P.s. and then this.
I see as standbye the situation, that I only can switch it back on with sliding the keyboard or the power switch. If other keys do not react, is in't this standbye? The rest of the discussion I prefer to leave to better specialists on this forum

For Best battery life you should make a false Push email and set it to check manualy there is info on google about how to do this. thats only if you dont use exchange. Also NO bluetooth yes it does suck lots of juice! Also make sure you dissable the IR connections that also sucks juice. there are also power saving reg tweaks in the registy that you can find in the Wiki
There is no I/R in Kaiser, and BT standby seems to draw very little. I leave mine all the time, I loose about 5% battery overnight. WiFi is a completely different story, it's a power PIG.

I still disagree.
When bluetooth is just ON and not connected to any device it hardly consums power. (IMHO)
Do a simple test and let it on for a night sleep with and without bluetooth.
When connected to a headset or whatever it of course consumes.
Pls tell me the difference.,

I have had my TyTN II since Tuesday the 25th - so only 2 days now. I pulled the phone out of the charger at 6:50am this morning. I have WiFi turned OFF (only use at night when I am surfing while watching TV). I have BlueTooth off. I do have BB Connect installed and running with 1 BES account and 3 BIS accounts. I was on the phone for maybe 5 total minutes so far this morning - and I surfed for like 10 minutes via EDGE on the way to work. I do have SPB Mobile Shell 1.5 installed, but from what I read it doesn't effect battery life. I have the unit set to shut the screen off after 2 minutes....and my LCD brightness is at like 70% or so.
With all this - as of 10:35am this morning - I am already down to 75% battery. At this rate, the phone will be dead before 5pm....! Not even a full day.
Man - I hope this gets better because I can't run my life with phone plugged in half the day just so it will last me!

Urgent problem: kaiser turns off on wifi and phone calls

Hi there!
I recently changed my battery with an ORIGINAL new one because I had a problem... that is still here...
Every time I turn on wifi (even with 100% of battery) my phone turns off after 2 or 3 minutes (and it seems that's because of the battery.)
Sometimes it turns off even when I'm just calling (more often when the battery is less then 20-30%).
EDITED: 30-40 seconds before it turns off the screen and the physical keyboard backlight start to flicker.
EDITED: Now it turns off EVERY time I make or receive a call after 4-5 minutes!
Exemple: Today the battery life was around 50%. I tried to turn on wifi. After 2 minutes of wifi use it turned off. I tried to turn it on but there was the flashing red led and it turned off again every time (it was like uncharged ).
Then I tried to remove the battery for a few hours, I put it back in and the battery life was the same of before the "turning off" problem, around 50%. What does it mean??
My hypothesis is that it gets excessively hot when I use wifi and even when I call... But I don't really know what that's about..
[my ROM is this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=586463, the english version. I got the right RADIO, I checked yesterday]
Thanks for any suggestion!!
Fabrizio
[sorry 4 bad English]
Try this...
Check the battery contacts on the phone -- clean them with a little isopropyl alcohol, and gently pry them up a little so they make solid contact with the battery.
I'll try what you say, thanks a lot!
I just want to say (I forgot it in the first post) that the screen and even the physical keyboard backlight start to flicker 30-40 seconds before the kaiser turns off.
After prying and cleaning the battery contacts the problem isn't solved yet. I didn't use the isopropyl alcohol, I'll try it asap.
Anyway now the problem is even worse, the kaiser shuts down each call after 2 or 3 minutes! Of course if the phone is charging (via usb) NO PROBEL, even the flickering isn't there any more...
Any other possibility of fixing that? (I have no warrantee, I really hope I fix that by my self just with your help!)
btry prob
well.. find out if one of ur friends has kaiser..... exchange batteries... i.e u isert his btry into ur kaiser and ur btry in his kaiser and then try the wifi n calls from both fones..... this will precisely tel u whether it a fault in the fon or u didnt get The genuine btry.... hope this helps.... do leme knw.....
Thanks for replying but I'm using a brand new battery and the problem is still the same of the old battery, nothing changed...
perhaps the problem is really not the battery but rather the battery's charging.
the point of exchanging your battery with a friend's battery is that you will be able to test your device with a known properly charged battery.
alternatively, you can try to charge your existing battery with an external battery charging pack or by inserting your battery in a friend's phone and let it charge there.
i understand that you claim your battery is brand new, and this is leading you to conclude that it can NOT be the battery at fault...but strange things happen in this strange world!
Wow I didn't see this problem from that point of view!
The only person I know that has a Kaiser is 600km far from me...
Now I have to find a way to properly charge my battery (if it isn't already properly charged of course!)...
But just one question: if the Kaiser is not charging good the battery, why should it "think" that it's 100% charged??
welllll.... trust me..... i once had a sony ericsson k770i. the shopkeeper said that it has ORIGINAL btry.... n it wud turn off after 20 min talk. so my advise is try another btry from another shop.....
But I tried with 2 different batteries, my old one and a new one and the problem is the same. I also have to say that it's always worse then before. Now even if I turn on the camera after some minutes it turns off, ora yesterday even when I was writing a text message.
Indeed it's possible that the battery is always less charged because the Kaiser doesn't charge it. The Kaiser works good when connected with usb to may mac...
well buddy, ur last post clearly suggests a prob with btry.... say hw much had u used ur old btry before changing it
I used a battery for around one year, but it was already used (I've bought a used Kaiser, in very good conditions, on eBay).
The problem I have started with the old battery and now it keeps torturing me with the new one... Today I had my phone charged, but after 4-5 hours without using it I received a call and of course it turned off (after the flickering screen) I'm desperate...
o boy... its 200% confirmed btry prob. i m guessing, if u wud talk with charger or data cable plugged in, it wud work for hours ryt? my sincere advice is, go to a trustworthy shop n get a new battery. i m also using a new btry but it gives really gud tym on wifi, wap n calls....
Well I really think the battery I've just bought is a brand new original Battery, I checked all codes, voltage and other stuff... BTW I think I'll try to use another orignal battery (I'm sure that's original) of a friend of mine's Kaiser before I buy a new one. Here in Italy battery and gadgets prices are really high... Thanks 4 the help anyway!
PS: I really hope it's a battery problem, because if it's something else I don't really know what to do.... thanks again!
Update: I noticed that if I don't use Camera, Wifi or even make calls at all, my kaiser works for 2-3 days with no problem. I send lots of text messages, play Solitaire or view my photo album for example...
Why just more "intensive" tasks should make my phone turn off in 2-3 minute?
I don't really understand... I hope I'll find someone in my town that can fix it... BTW thank for any help

i didn't write "as enjoable as in iphone", i mean the good speed.
looks like there's a problem with the device not turning off on standby.. the settings have an LCD time out time but the device does not turn off and keeps on using up the battery.. I have tested it by increasing the brightness to max and pushing the power button to turn it off.. what I see is the screen turns black but the the backlight is still on.. I even tried to wait for 30 minutes but it remains on.. which may mean the device is always on and using up power..
the development team did a very good job with this xandroid version but i hope they can fix this draining battery problem or it would not be practical for everyday use.. or i could just buy 2 extra batteries.. (",)..

I had this problem in old xdandroids and in roghbuntu. I don't know how about xdandroid now, but in my neopeek's rom screen turns off correctly.
URL on his port. BUT read how-to-install. there is different way from xdandro.

Try take out your battery for one minute and put it back again.
thanks , tried that before "eventhough it doesn't make sense"
Maybe some application is using battery hard
try cpuspy and check if phone goes to deep sleep
if not, some application is using resources
try also startup manager (es task manager has this option) and check which applications are in startup
if you are rooted, disable startup for non-system applications and check again cpu-spy
than enable one by one and check over and over
it's long run, but hope you will locate the problem
thanks man for the help
i tried cpuspy and the phone goes to deep sleep
about startup , everything is normal only software update and google play open with startup and i guess those are fine
from screens you can see that phone is only awake when screen is on
and screen on time is 8 mins but it used 43% of battery ? this is very weird
not sure
im not sure about that app better battery stats but one thing caught my eye.. "no or unknown signal" if i understand that right, your phone is having a hard time getting your carrier signal thats why its using up battery just to get a stable signal.. Flash another modem perhaps?

Battery drains fast!

Hi!
Since last year, I got the problem that my P990 is discharging very fast. Commonly the battery needed to be charged once a day, but now it's twice, at least!
Of course, the first thing I did was to buy a new battery. It's an original LG battery, but nothing changed. I also tried one of these big batteries with 2800mAh, but even that didn't change much.
I tried several CFWs and Kernels, at the moment the phone's running on [4.4.4][P990][AOSPA] ParanoidAndroid 4.6, 2.6.39.4-Kowalski-Stable-M1 Kernel.
The strange thing is, the battery's even draining, when the phone's turned off. If it's charged to 100% and then turned off, the next day, the battery is below 1%, the phone can't be turned on due to the low charge.
I'm not sure, if it's really a software problem, there are no special apps installed, it's just the ParanoidAndroid without anything special installed.
Anyone who could help me, please?
I also suffer battery drain in "doing nothing" mode - deep sleep mostly. I even switch off mobile data. It is not normal the battery to be drained completely for about two days when the phone just stays on the table in deep sleep with mobile data switched off. Anyone could help us?

This phone had the longest stand-by life with temasek CM 7.1, I could go 12 hours and lose only 1-2% which is impossible with current android versions, not my SG4 or my galaxy tab 4 7" do that, they lose 3% idle in just 1 hour.
Also by this time your battery is already over 2 years. Its current capacity may be well half what it used to be when brand new. Buying a new one won't help that much because it might be at around 70-80% capacity at best because of time. Then again 2 batteries are better than 1.
if you can you should get a new phone, they are better in every way and only $150 dollars which is more than what our optimus 2x is worth now-a-days. I use it 24 hours on hooked at the back of my TV as an android TV :silly:

Pretty simple, any stock based rom works great, old GB has HDMI with quality selector, ICS has only HDMI output at 1080i/720p.
I stuck it inside a project box and I screw it behind my TV, used the USB port on the TV to keep it powered all the time but just remember to take out the battery or it will die (puff). Charge the battery to 100% then store.
Caution, not all USB ports form TVs are friendly so do like me and cut the data lines and use only the red/black wires (outer pins in the USB).
Lastly a mini keyboard with touch pad is what I use to control it... and a iPega gamepad for gaming. Doesn't work in GB stock roms so you got to use ICS/CM roms for it to work.
P.M. If you got any doubts
