Careful, that eBay item appears to be for the euro/GSM Hero, not the CDMA Sprint Hero. The backplate looks far too square to fit a CDMA Hero.

Yeah it's questionable, I bought one for the battery reviewer (from the battery reviews in my sig) so I can atleast find out if it's a good battery.

Ummm... ok here's a novel question... how do you cope with putting a case on your Hero when it comes to these extended batteries? I have the body glove case from Sprint and there is no way I could fit it on my Hero if I had a larger back cover. Do a lot of people just not have their Hero's in cases? Or what else are people using to protect their Heros? Cuz I wouldn't mind having one of them longer lasting batteries myself

They sell strap cases where you just put them on your belt loop and you can just insert your Hero into them and take them out. Not protected 100% percent of the time but it just makes you be more careful. But I just don't use a case on at all.

I ordered an Otterbox Impact series, 12 bucks from amazon.

heres one from ebay that acually goes to the HERO200 (cdma sprint hero) for like 16 bucks.. just incase you guys are still looking.. the door looks pretty close to stock.. hope this helps guys...

thats funny.. ive had plenty of mugen batteries in the past plus seidio..and never had one problem etc.. if that mugen 3200 mAh battery is really 1785 then wouldnt it not last very much longer than the stock battery? my brother has the mugen 3200 and it lasts almost as long as my seidio 3500 mAh..
so I dont understand how that can be true unless that mugen was defective!!!

actually....it's a 1790mAh batt instead of a 3200mAh, but even so it seems to last alot longer than the stock battery. I complained to the seller and I got it for free so whatever. I'll let you know how the new 2600mAh one is, I wish the batterboss would review (which btw, go check out his review on the Mugen "3200mAh")
I have the link in my sig, I mean Yes, the Mugen got near 2400mAh which is better than the no name....but at what, nearly 700-800% price increase!!!

The cover that comes with it fits well and is quite comfortable though sadly it doesn't incorporate the 1790mAh battery, so I still have to run with that coverless (though with a vinyl case as a back cover).
The battery itself has quite good battery life, and I'm sure it's going to get better with future charges. I'll let you guys know if it gets any better, though I can definitely recommend it at this point.

will we see extended battery's?

I don't really know much about how easy replacing phones with bigger battery's, but is it likely that htc will sell a bigger power battery for the hd7 ie 1500 or something?
I've seen regualr replacement batterys for the HD7 advertised but not extended ones...not yet anyway.
As always, it's just a matter of time before Mugen/HTC/Seidio etc announce an extended battery.
I hope they can squeeze a true not BS 1500mAH battery in there without a new back cover. It would ruin the design.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
There are 1500mAH batteries listed on Ebay already but how can you tell if its the same old 1230mAH battery with a different sticker on it? Is it even possible to squeeze 270 more mA into a battery of the same size?
lol of course its possible.. have you seen the size of the EVO's battery??? that was 1500 and the dimensions were quiute similar to that of the HD2... so I don't see why it would make a difference
I bought an HD7 and love it. Battery life is not the greatest so I just ordered a 1500 mAh battery for it. I'll let you guys know if it is any better. BTW, the HD7 comes with a 1230 mHa battery (thanks HTC for going cheap here :-| )
Also, the Evo 4G which is almost the exact same hw device comes with a 1500 mHa out of the box.

I have just had an email from these people saying they will be announcing an extended battery tomorrow:

As mentioned above the big battery sticks out the back of your phone in a great big lump (they have a picture on their site now). It will also add a lot to the weight. HTC would never release a phone like this.
Why they didn't make the HD7 just a tiny bit thicker and heavier to squeeze a 1500mAh battery in is another question though.
I am not talking about the battery cover. I am talking about a case. A leather case or any other thing i can protect my phone with so if it drops or anything i dont want any scratches etc.

Would definitely not face any juice problems with that beast in it but It would be hard for me to adjust to the bulk of the phone afterwords I'm afraid.

For all those wondering, I got one of these batteries. It is slightly larger then the HTC 2150 extended battery and slightly smaller then the Seidio 3500 battery. You can use the HTC extended cover but there will be a small gap around the sides. With the backing that comes with the battery, it makes the whole thing feel very big. The max thickness is really the same as the HTC extended case, but it is big all over instead of just over the battery.
In addition to the case being clunky, I really did not see any benefit to this battery. Even though it says 3500, it gets less life then the 2150. If you want a lot of life out of your phone, go with the 3500 battery from Seidio. It is expensive but you get what you pay for. No matter which of these three batteries you get, they are all going to add the same amount of thickness which is approximately doubling the size and weight of your phone.
If you want to increase the life of your phone and not increase the size, Seidio also makes a 1800 battery that is good. I am using the one I had from my Eris.
i got this Acase 3500 mah battery a few weeks ago, it's great! bump charging vastly improves its battery life also. usually it lasts me about more than 24 hours
I got it late last week, and have been running it for a while. Battery life is a LITTLE better than the 1750 Sedio I had in it before. Not enough to justify the huge size, though. I can make it all day on my 1750, anyway.
Wow. Kind of disappointed after hearing all this that I bought it. Mine is supposed to come on the 22nd so I'll post back with results. Hopefully for my experience, I get better life out of it than stock.
I sent the Acase back and picked up two of the OEM 1800 evo batteries, they fit the dinc fine.
Do those OEM 1800 Evo batteries do much better than the OEM DINC battery? You can get 2 of the Evo 1800 batteries for $40 on Amazon.

No, I am pretty sure the 2150 requires a new back. I think a 1500 or the 1750 from Seido uses the standard back.

the 2150 does not fit the stock battery door. I bought the 2150 and never used it. It makes the phone so bulky and not to mention really ugly. Im using the Inc/Evo 1800mah ($20) it works great and fits the stock battery door.

Geez that is UGLY!!! You'd think a company like Seidio would make a sleeker looking back cover. I mean the Cheepo back covers you can get from Ebay look better than that. Come on Seidio, how about some effort. Aesthetics should go hand in hand when your paying that kind of money.

Just checked this out seems interesting. For the price $29 + Shipping , I might just give it a shot. If I do I'll make sure to post up.
I tried the Gorillagadgets HTC EVO Shift 4G 3500 mAh Extended Life Battery but it wouldn't take a charge out of the box. I sent it back for a refund. The customer service was good though.
It's been a while since I first looked into this battery and thought I'd share. I've had it for a few months now and it performs great depending on the rom, kernel, cpu settings etc. The back is rubberized but didn't fit well when I got it. I made the holes for the camera lens and flash bigger which helped. There was also a velvet like pad inside the door that pushed against the battery that had to be removed. Once I took that out it fits great. Right now I'm running MikRunny. I hope this was useful.

I'm thinking of getting one but which one mugen 3300mh
Or sedio 3500 mh
get the seidio battery. this is the second extended battery i've bought from them. (had one for my evo 4g) so far it's been great. i can go at least 2 days on a single charge. just make sure you follow the instructions to get the most out of it. i charged mine over night and just let it completely die out. i'm using the matr1x kernel and i have it clocked at 1.2
thanks I was planning on getting 3500
you won't be disappointed.

I'm sure those cheap ones are fine, but I'm willing to pay a bit more to help ease the thoughts of a cheap battery....catching fire or exploding.
I just picked up a seidio 3500 from best buy today. Its big, reminds me of the old 5100 series Nokia from some years back but hoping for the best. I love the no slip coating on it though!
Anyone know where I should go to get one of the 3500mh batteries in Australia?
I got mine from Amazon. Here's their shipping policy for Australia:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=596190
I got mine yesterday and I love it so far. It does make the phone thicker, but I think the thickness is welcome, its easier to hold the phone to my ear with my shoulder. The battery cover is nice too. Just make sure you order the correct battery, the 4G is different from the regular NS and a few people left comments about it not fitting on Amazon.

Update - Im getting a solid two days of heavy use with this battery. I love not having to run to the charger. The second charge got me to 56hrs and I was at 4% IIRC. I forgot to take a screenshot though Ill take one on this charge. By this time of day Id already be down into the 60-70% range on the stock battery, but right now Im sitting at 81%
Side note - I also picked up the Seidio spring belt clip, and it fits perfectly with the extended battery due to the way the battery cover is. Its very sturdy and still gives you access to the lock button, volume rocker, charging port and headphone jack. Its also got a nice felt lining to protect the screen. I got it on eBay for $18 shipped.
Almost forgot to add, Im running NSCollab oc'd to 200 (screen off) 1200 (screen on) on demand.

Thats why I went with the Seidio. Its nowhere near as sexy as the stock battery cover, but the Mugen cover is much worse. Its just a big lump of plastic.
How different are the battery doors between the NS and the NS 4G? I need a couple of cheap extended batteries from eBay and the ones for the 4G are scarce and there are more choices for the NS.
Pretty sure its the exact same battery
Correct, its the same battery, but they use different doors if you go with an extended battery.
I accidently ordered the regular Nexus S extended from Amazon, luckily Amazon took care of me same day and re-routed the wrong package. <3 them.
