XDANDROID for X1? - XPERIA X1 Android Development

hey i got this question when i saw this post in here which it says:
XDANDROID (the Android-for-Windows Mobile porting project that spans over many devices, including the Touch Pro[2], Diamond[2], X1 and HD),
i search and all i found here was XPEROID or the other ANDROID builds which have almost the same functions but XDANDROID according to the mentioned thread have the following functions which X1's builds doesnt have:
Capacitive Buttons and Navigation wheel
Wifi (was always on when enabled. Now it is used alot less often so the device will be warm at most)
GPS
Power collapse
ramzswap
idle sleep mode
i was wondering if anyone knows whats going on and how come there is no sign of XDANDROID for HTC kovsky or x1. sorry if its same as the other builds and this is a stupid question

its there even on there signature:

thank you ilgreco112 does anyone knows whats all this about?

I'm trying an XDANDROID based build on my X1 as we speek. This is a build by Neopeek.com and I'm trying to get it to work with their help.
You can check out the progress on:
http://www.neopeek.com/en/community/groups/viewgroup/9-Android+Project+SuperEclair

It would be very helpful to add xperia to xdandroid cause they we will get automatically upgraded when new features are added
I think a while ago the xdandoid leader tried to contact the xperia team to add xperia to xdaandroid but they were unresponsive or something, not sure if that is still true.

ye it will be cool bc i love android!

Some time ago, i did send some patches to phhusson to include most of the x1-changes in main repos. So far no response to that.
Problem was, that some changes in kovsky-repos are not mergeable and woud break main-repos-code.
But dont expect to much from main-repos-kernel. It does not last longer with battery or runs faster or better. Anyway, we should join main repos.

So if i were to start working on the kernel and clone a repo, should i go with main or xdadev? is the merging actually going to happen?

So... Any news about this?

Go for xdadev and play around with that. If you then know what you are doing, get the main repos and send patches to phhusson.

i have done this an managed to compile a working kernel.
if you do that you could just post your changes here or sent them.

I contacted one of XDANDROID members and got this reply: phhusson has started development on it but is taking a break from it now. Last i heard phhusson tried grabbing their source and merging it but it was all over the place. not sure now but i'll definitely love for our team to work together sometime and extend xdandroid to the kovsky. So their is hope.

oh i hope the development is still on.. at this point in time, i still prefer WinMo than Android because of the apps & games that i already have loaded on, but sooner or later I'm gonna need to make the switch since Android > Windows.

I asked phhusson whether kovsky will ever merge with xdandroid.
This is what he said:
phhusson said:
Easy, make the current changes from kovsky tree, explicit. Not commit messages that say "big commit" or "some stuff".
I already merged the proper commits.
I think it could be done in less than hours, but it's not up to me.

Help with Rom Developing

I am a new member but have already used this site a lot.
I am interested in rom development for the touch and would be grateful if I could recieve some guidance.
If you have any tips or suggestions I would be grateful.
Thank you
jholtom
just curious,
are you try to porting from another device or taking Fresh Froyo into another taste.... ?
maybe you could ask some guidance from n2rjt or scooter, another devs looks like has left the vogue.
but anyway, nice to see you trying to keep the vogue live.
good luck.

haha are you talking about me?
if you going to be working with fresh froyo
my tool set is alot of reading and patience, along with 7zip and recently apkmanager (none of my .apk manager stuff was using on vogue)
even my hero stuff has used a very similar tool set
well, this development on vogue seems to freeze for about weeks.
and seems like you are taking your eyes too into another device you have.
hope you are taking your part again into rom development.
compare to another froyo build in another device, Fresh Froyo have a very small size.
so if anyone could porting from another device then stripped them into a very small size ( get rid all unuseable stuff ), it would be nice.
And i think would be so refreshing to have some sense in our froyo.

you know for a noob you sure have helped alot if it wasnt for you we wouldnt have facebook and twitter sync working
If you want to compile, I'd start at the top of the Fresh Froyo thread.
Follow the instructions left by dzo: they still work.
First you can get an android build, then keep reading the same thread to figure out how to build the kernel.
I started that way. First I was building my own builds of Fresh Froyo, because dzo used to commit changes almost daily. Then, I found something that didn't work well enough, and I started researching on how it worked, and how to fix it. I have made a lot of mistakes along the way, but happily most of them have been in the privacy of my own build.
If your tastes go more toward kernel development, give read the kernel thread on the Vogue forum, then l1q1d's threads on the Kaiser forum.
Oh, in case you didn't figure it out yet, the Kaiser, Vogue, and Polaris all use the same builds and kernels, with configuration and driver differences.
Ok..
Thanks a lot
I have thought about porting and probably what I'll do besides using fresh froyo
So to help me with that
What devices are similar to the Vogue/Polaris/Kaiser that may be candidates for some rom porting or should I just try any rom(with the same resolution)
if i'm not mistaken,
myn's eclair based on dream, incubus have super hero, and i think sapphire and tatto could be possible to port too.
2 days ago, i try to load wildfire rom with sense, vogue can load it but still keep rebooting. its very unstable. (i know a lot of ppl say it is impossible) but when i saw my vogue can load it...this vogue is incredible.
if you want to give it a shot, just don't forget to change the BOOTCLASSPATH.
I'm still learning so could you remind me what BootCLASSPATH is?
for "what is" bootclasspath, you can search for it, i can't explain it better than the devs here.
in other device, the bootclasspath is inside the boot.img, so if they want to edit it, they need to unpack the boot.img.
in our vogue, bootclasspath describe in sysinit.rc,
because that i want to load sense framework, so in bootclasspath, i should edit it to export the appropriate .jar.
see below :
export BOOTCLASSPATH /system/framework/core.jar:/system/framework/ext.jar:/system/framework/framework.jar:/system/framework/android.policy.jar:/system/framework/services.jar:/system/framework/com.htc.framework.jar:/system/framework/com.htc.android.pimlib.jar:/system/framework/com.htc.android.easopen.jar:/system/framework/com.scalado.util.ScaladoUtil.jar

and which did you install it to ext2 or Nand dont expect itll fit on nand though
big jump today,
no restart, no bootloop. now, i still play it, though it run to much slow -really really sloooow, let see if i can tweak this build, but i'm already too excited.
i'll do some test to this.
camera working, camcorder no FC but still the phone won't sleep either though the screen is off. i'll give you my file if you get lost or something.
what build? i sent you a pm. it should be a surprise for this community.

[Unofficial][Gigglebread] O2X CM7 - Back *****es... (19072011-1925)

COPIED FROM FITSNUGLY'S UNOFFICIAL N1 NIGHTLY THREAD
ADVANCED USERS ONLY
SERIOUSLY. This is an unofficial CM7 build with cherry picks (from CM's Gerrit) of unfinished mods and/or broken code that is continually changing. New users should STAY AWAY FROM HERE. There is NO SUPPORT for this build, by myself or anyone else, so don't expect it. Do not file bug reports on the CM issue tracker from these builds. Do not report the SAME PROBLEMS AS THE REGULAR NIGHTLY'S because there's no magic here to fix them. Don't PM me with silly questions, because they probably won't be answered.
Please visit the Official CM7 Nightly Thread if you are just getting your feet wet. Frankly I don't care if my builds or any of my suggestions work for you or not, I do this to educate myself better and share with a few friends.
Have a question or an issue? Try this before asking something silly:

Rebased to CM source @ 19/07/2011 19:25 GMT
I understand there is no support provided, and I will brick my phone by flashing this! - Bacon wrapped bacon, deep fried in bacon fat! p990 Folder
All credit goes to cyanogen & #teamdouche, Thanks to fits for showing me the ropes with compiling and cherry-picking
Don't ask what's new, read!
Some recent device related CM7 commits since last build can be found here:
http://cm-nightlies.appspot.com/?device=p990
Items from CM's Gerrit I have manually cherry-picked:
Nothing first build in ages so it's clean
If I stop using certain cherry picked commits all of a sudden, it's either: because they were merged, abandoned, or the mod is based on older code than what is in CM currently and merge fails.
Please visit @cmsrc, CM's Gerrit or Nightly Device Changelog for a complete list of commits.
MORFIC'S EXT4 TRINITY TEST KERNEL

Bug reports welcome on kernel EXT4 so either wipe and restore when flashing new nightlies or reflash kernel.

Ok, loving this kang - gps fixed loads of other fixes went in so it's all looking good
nice builds
The quadrant scores are getting better on the CM builds now getting 3500 on vorkKernel at 1,4Ghz not that quadrant matters to me because CM7 is a lot better than the laggy LG crap
Guys can someone test and see if u can install a 20mb app from the market please?

[SOLVED] Optimus g2x / o2x a2dp on CM7 [COMMING THE NEXT NIGHTLY]

Hi Community,
i don't know how you feel about the missing a2dp on our devices with source builds but im getting really sick about it.
Nvidia sucessfully ignores any requests from the community (Look at theyre tegra2 forums for example( http://developer.nvidia.com/archived-tegra-forums/forum/tegra-hal-components && http://developer.nvidia.com/archived-tegra-forums/forum/when-nvidia-going-open-source-hal-components )), I also tryed to contact them via E-Mail with no response at all since 15 business days now.
Thats why im starting this Bounty Thread so we might be able to attract a talented Reverse Engineer to reverse the Binary blobs we need to get a2dp fully functional.
As far as my knowledge goes were dealing with the following chips in our devices:
WM8994
BCM4329
Nvidia Tegra2
As far as my informations are correct the audio routing from tegra2 to the Broadcom chip is whats not working (via I2C)
If any of my informations are incorrect please drop me a line via pm or twitter (lwingerberg)
Im gonna start this bounty with 50€ (atm thats about 67.71USD) from my self for anyone who gets this working for CM builds

Of course, i think the same the title is to change .... btw i think there's nothing to do until nvidia does not really wanna dance! Share info nVidia! Share... is the progress... weird, it contains the same BT chip by broadcom, only guess is atm that the chip covering the tegra2 is diffrent
Atrix: ( Elpida B8132B1PB. According to Chipworks, the Elpida package contains 1 GB DDR2 RAM, but also covers the Nvidia Tegra 2 CPU/GPU residing underneath the package.)

Clicked a big ol' thanks on that post.
Millions of thanks for the amazing dev action on this device! It has so much potential and yet it is so held back (mainly by Lenovo).
I know this is super alpha, but just the fact that people are working on it is warming to my heart. Will donate if wanted/needed.
Cheers.
Many many thanks devs!! It is so awesome seeing some attention being paid the TPT! This device could be so much better with some dev love!! Thanks!!

Hi,
Created a site for anyone to host dumps/roms/etc, If you need somewhere to share ICS from.
http://everyrandom.com/files/
You do NOT have to register, and files are kept as long as you need them.
Fast US link (100MB/100MB) and 2TB of bandwidth.
This is great news, I am glad to see that there is some development interest for the Thinkpad and look forward to one day enjoying some CM9 goodness on my TPT.
Do you know the state of 3G? I guess it's not working.
We'll try to make it as good as we can and thanks for supporting us! Video will come soon and just to know that some problems can't be solved without kernel and some other hardware source code that Leovo didn't release yet so probably there won't be full stable Custom ICS ROM there
I realize this is pre-alpha but do you if any progress is being made towards a ICS port for the ideapad K1? Either way, I'm rezlly excited to see ICS making it way tk Lenovo devices! Thanx!
I already emailed Lenovo asking them to release the kernel source code or else to provide me a personal copy, as they are required to do upon request by the GPL. Hopefully if I get a copy I'll upload it for you guys. But we'll see.
Thanks!

Idea is OMAP3 device and Think is Tegra 2 device so there's a big difference. One guy is working on CM7 and as far as I know it have reboot problems so same is supposed to be with ICS port to.
I tried to contact Lenovo support several times with no luck. Let's hope that they'll respond and release kernel source.
The K1 also runs on Tegra 2, didnt know if you thought I was talking about the A1 but I have the K1. With that being said, is there too much of a difference between the K1 and the Thinkpad Tablet that trying this port on my K1 is out of the question?? Thanks for the fast reply!
oh my bad. I can try to port it if you want but you have to be a beta tester.

What is Omni?
The goal of Omni is to experiment with Android development because we enjoy it. Omni isn’t better, just different. It’s another option for the billion Android users out there. Android (vs. iOS and every other mobile OS) has thrived on options as well as the gigantic, talented development community that has emerged to build those options. That’s the beauty of Android – that you can pick and choose from a smorgasbord of devices with varying features and functionality.
Omni is a chance to get involved, no matter who you are. Developers, whether you’ve been developing apps for a week, or ROM features for 3 years, you’re welcome. Users, we know you want to help out, and now you can – Omni actively encourages bug reports and feature requests, which can be added to our publicly accessible roadmap. What’s the point in giving you a ROM, and forcing you to not tell us about any bugs you find?
We also recognise how people use Custom ROMs – we’re all custom ROM users and developers ourselves – the argument that “nightlies are not for end users” is over-used, and no longer valid. We’ve found that the vast majority of users want to get nightly updates to their ROM. For that reason, nightlies aren’t a playground – nightlies are for new features that are finished. You should be able to expect the same stability and reliability from a nightly as you would from a “release” ROM, and can report any bugs that prevent this from happening.
We know not everyone wants to update their ROM daily, and you are free to update as frequently or infrequently as you like. Omni is about flexibility and giving users what they expect – and we are excited to see where the community goes with it.

plus i can imagine building myself a separate private rom to my liking! lol
So far, it seems really smooth! :good: The only feature I miss is Double-Tap to Wake since our power button is in such an odd location :/

I haven't been able to find any, but I'll test LED control apps to see if any work on non-stock ROMs.
Camera? Is the camera working as it is on the stock ROM? The only reason I am not going for the custom ROMs is the camera.
I didn't notice it at first because I do not make a lot of calls.
When I call someone, I hear no dial tone but the other person's phone rings. After a while I would hang up because I hear nothing.
There are no problems whatsoever with incoming calls.
I am only using sim1.
Did anybody else have the same issue?
