My experience with the 2150 battery so far... - Droid Incredible Accessories

I'm a medium to heavy user. Over the past 23 hours I've been texting over google voice, making some phone calls, browsing the web a fair amount, and listening to music.
Once I got the battery, I charged to it full while on, then when I got the green light, I turned the phone off, and plugged it back in and let it go green again. I'm very happy with the results...as you can see from the pictures it has been roughly 23 hours since I took the phone off charging. It has been using its battery for the past 23 hours and I'm only at 51% battery left.
I've also discovered I don't mind the look of the extended battery case, its really not that bad.

This is very exciting the original battery blows i get my 2150 tomorrow cant wait to have my phone work all day haha.

Xperia battery life?

Could someone explain to me why the xperia's battery life is so short. xperia has a big battery with a lot of juice, 1500 MaH is very high. for example the htc diamond has 900 mah but the life time is almost the same.
i ordered now a mugen battery 1800Mah hope this wil add some more life time.
sinds i am using wm6.5 the life time is now a little bit longer. is it the OS that uses that much battery or is it the hardware?
mine last for 2-3days
thats long for me i do exactly 1 day with it.
How do you use it like have you connection with the internet all the time. do you make a lot of calls?
mine usage is i recieve emails, i;m interneting for not more than 20 min. and make some calls not very special.
It depends on what you do. If you don't use it at all D) or use it for calling/texting it will last 2 or 3 days.
If you use it for media purposes (music, video, etc.), it will last 1 day or less.
Wi-Fi or GPS will drain it in 2 or 3 hours.
Background apps drain the battery as well.
Mine rarely lasts more than 6 to 8 hours or 12 if I'm lucky, when I'm outside/travelling/working.
If I'm at home I keep it plugged in the charger all the time, otherwise it drains in 2 hours due to heavy use lol .
Lol thats very fast orelsi. i use sometimes gps and have always connection with 3g. thats why i bought a reserve battery for my xperia.
mostly my battery lest for 12 hours or something and when i dont use it a lot the battery life is 1 day.
Mine lasts from the morning (7 o'clock) until the evening (12 o'clock). That is 17 hours. Then I charge it overnight. I am using (Hotmail) push mail all day, thus the HSDPA connection is always on. Another e-mail address syncs every 5 hours. Wheather forecasts sync every 4 hours. Newsfeed syncs once a day. I listen to music for at least 3 hours a day, sometimes up to 5 or even 6. Sometimes also internet radio through WiFi (drains more). When I'm listening to music, the screen is off. I get maybe 10 text messages a day, which make the phone vibrate for maybe 10 seconds each. I answer to those. I surf for maybe 15 or 20 minutes a day, checking stocks regularily. That's it.
Thats nice, if im wanna listen music it cant last till 12 o'clock. i also start mine morning from 7 o'clock. but it will ben nicer if it could last for 3 days with same use. sometimes i'm not home for 2 days and can't charge it (dont have teh charger with me) but then the next morning it almost empty.
so for me i have to take a reserve battery with me

Little advice for you, maybe it helps a little: Do not shut down your phone overnight, but turn the phone function off, that is to say disconnect from the network. This is what I do. With software like Spb Phone Suite you can automate this process, so that it turns off all connections at midnight for example, and back on at seven. I also use it for volume adjustment, it changes ring volume when I plug in my headphones. Phone without headphones needs to be at 100% to barely hear it, but with headphones, this blasts your ear I find... So the software turns ring volume down to 20% when I plug the headphones in
thnx i didnt think of that. i will use that

N1-Be honest. How is your battery?

Okay, a little back story. I've been a BB user for quite some time now, got bored and made the switch to N1 this past January.
At this point I'm ready to say: The N1 power consumption or battery BLOWS CHUNKS. But folks thats my take.
I mean here I am with the most powerful and best phone in the world right now and I have to keep my brightness at 33% (GOD forbid I forget and keep it at 100%, I wont make it through the day!). I have to keep my GPS off (so my geo tagging is always off by a few thousand freaking meters). I have to limit my use and take it easy on data intensive apps. It's ludicrous, I want to use this damn thing.
Don't get me wrong I'm fine with the 33% brightness and with the light use (because I'm a student and quite frankly I don't really push the phone like that, due to being in class). But I would still like it if the phone wasn't CRYING for the "milk" bottle every day sharply/promptly at 8 pm.
So the phone makes it through the day (hurrah). But it still annoys me that now I have this new "nag": "get home and charge me Ori". So if anything spontaneous pops up like say: a date with a nice young lady, you can bet your bottom dollar my phone won't be making it alive that night. It's another constraint on an already constrained enough life.
My buddy says "dude I don't know whats wrong with your idiot self.. blah blah blah.. my Nexus battery is great". But the damn jerk is coming from a G1 !!! go figure LOL...
When evaluating something you don't compare it to a pitiful performance. You see how you stack up against the best. So if you reached your conclusion because you are comparing it to a G1 or Cliq I have to honestly disagree with your method of reaching that conclusion.
PS. I'm not a nagging *****. I know I came off a BB. Thats why I'm not asking for much. I would just like to see the phone consistently make it to 11 PM every night from a 7AM 100% charge. Is that too much to ask for?
my battery never dips below 50%... of course i'm working most of the day instead of playing with my phone.
Seems about the same as my Nokia N95's was to be honest.
try the undervolted kernel, it saves you quite a bit of juice.
ill toss my input in on this after i run the att one for a few days to see how much running strictly on 2g actually saves, the tmo band one i had last a good 12-14 hours if i was playing with it mildly at work. thats with the check mark for 2g only, wireless is usually constantly on, and gps always on(but not always running up in the status bar), brightness set to auto
Not sure if there's whole lot you can do if you want to keep brightness at 100% and GPS chip on all the time.
I hike quite a bit and I use SportyPal to track my progress. Obviously when I hike, the screen is off but GPS chip is always on. Although I never managed to completely drain the battery so far, I would say it will last around 7-8 hours. I do use SetCPU so that when battery reaches below 40%, clock goes way down to the minimum possible.
Other than getting an extended battery, not sure if there is a solution. 100% screen brightness and GPS really taxes batteries on all cell phones.
By the way, this is MUCH MUCH better than HTC Magic (which in turn was much better than HTC Diamond). I'm not sure how they did it since the battery capacity is the same, screen is larger, and CPU is faster. I am happy.
Battery is better than the last few HTC devices I've used and on par with the TP2 (all had similar features, large touch screen, Wifi, GPS, BT). So I would say it's about par for the course as far as I am concerned.
Try the 3200mah battery from Seido... you can run all day with wifi, gps, and bluetooth plus have screen at 100% and still have 50%+ battery at 8pm.
If battery life is more important than the slim look, get the sedio 3200mAh battery.
With 0% brightness, occasional use (GMail, GVoice, GTalk), GPS and Sync on, about 20 minutes of talking, meebo IM running... The battery just lasts 12 hours. CPU profile set to 512MHz when below 50% battery; and is fixed at 245MHz when in standby/sleep.
For the amount of things that it can do I'm happy with the battery life.
If I'm going out I carry the AC cable in my coat pocket
I realize this may not be the best solution for most of you, but I also have a portable Duracell charger. It normally acts as a charger for 4 AA batteries. But I can plug-in a USB cable on the charger and the other end to N1. It gives me roughly another 2000mah worth of juice using 4 Eneloops. The charger is bulky though so no good if you want to carry them in pockets. But works for me when I carry a backpack with me. I needed this charger anyways for AA batteries so it's a nice bonus that it can provide some mobile juice for N1.
My battery life is pretty great. I'm running the latest Cyan with the EPE54B radio, i keep the screen on about 75% brightness and never change it, I leave wifi and gps on always, I have bluetooth on and connected for about 2 hours a day, for the 8 hours I'm at work I don't use my phone much only to send some txts and maybe use a couple apps. So I unplug my phone at 7am and when I leave work at 5pm I have 82% battery left everyday with my normal usage.
Just for reference; before switching to Cyan and the latest radio i would have 75% battery when I left work.
What are you people doing with your phones that you have to carry a charger or a spare battery with you?!
I'm coming from a HD2 and I easily get better battery life than half you guys even with heavy streaming radio/youtube usage and that thing has an enormous power-sucking screen!

Thread revival time !!!
OK so I discovered a few things that are worthy of mentioning since I last posted this issue.
My Nexus off/wake button crapped out and I sent it back for repair. When I got it back it was wiped (like new). I forgot to setup my facebook app and widget. For about 2 days I was going around with the facebook app "off" (it was finals week as such I was not paying much attention to facebook or distractions). I noticed better battery performance. Eventually I set it up but my "Sync Contacts" setting is set to "Don't Sync".
Also I got the SMODA widget that gives u direct "on-off" 3G capability. So whenever I'm at around 30% battery life I throttle the connection to squeeze out as much life as I can. Unless I'm browsing and I need 3G.
Good day to you all and enjoy the world cup.
In all honesty, I've been getting the best battery life I've ever had with Froyo. I only charge my phone in the car with the car dock to and from work (25 minute commute) and occassionally let it sit on the desk dock when I'm messing around online. With those charging habits, I typically get two days of use out of it and have no issues doing any of the things I need to do with it without a charger (games, navigation, calls, texts, web+market browsing, etc.). I could not say the same about any of the Cyanogen ROM's I was running before.
Hope that helps.
I have to admit...I am a bit bummed about the battery life. I have the stocked 2.1, on the ATT N1. I have turned off the brightness and I can get 3/4 of the day on the battery. I thought it would last all day but I definitely have to charge it by end of day.
I am looking forward to Froyo for, by all accounts, the battery life has been improved.
Again, I should emphasize that "I'm a BIT bummed" for all in all...I'm still loving my N1 and haven't looked back.
I've got Froyo on mine and this is what I've noticed.
If I turn my phone on, and send about 10 text messages in an hour, then turn it off, my battery life will be around: 94%.
If I let it idle for an hour without any action, my battery will drain about 1%/hr.
If I am using the internet and sms and just constantly using the processor on the phone, in abour an hr I'll be at 85% battery.
This is all with the backlight set at 11% (lowest setting it will go)
my battery last 27 hours on reg use... 17 hours on heavey use...
Pauls Froyo
3200 Bat
GPS always on
Brightness Auto
Listening to music alot on it to.
I find that on the ATT nexus one, setting to gsm auto (prl) makes a tremendous difference for idle time. With this setting I lost only 11 % in 12 hours of idle. And when I unplug, after 1 hour my battery will still be at 100% with no use.
This setting still gives you 3g too, so no worries.
My N1 on froyo started to hog alot of juice. I don't know why, it was fine the first 2 weeks but after that it started to suck up loads for some reason. Got tired of trying new kernels and i did many options so i gave up and went back to Cyanogen.. Running 5.0.8 Test5 with Froyo Kernel and it's about 20-24 hours since i last hooked it off the charger and it's at 56% left. Amazing. Tho' im a light user and i keep most stuff off when i don't use it. Even 3G.
I think that our perception of what we should get concerning battery life is a bit skewed. If I have RIM device (last was BB on metroPCS) I can go like two days without charing. All my email is push. There is no Facebook widget, or weather widget, etc constantly updating. The screen is half the size with weak resolution. The processor is half the speed, or less. The ram is barely enough to run the device. I could go on and on.
The fact is you have a computer, a small computer you can carry in your pocket. This machine is about as powerful as a desktop was 2 years ago. You are powering it with battery that is 1500mh and is the size of a dollar bill folded in half. What do you want exactly?
If you want a battery that lasts 2 or three days, get a dumb phone. If want a pocked PC, you are going to have to deal with the fact that doing all of the things your phone does uses battery power.
If I unplug my laptop I get 2hours and 15minutes. My phone lasts about 7-8hours. I stream music an hour or two, text, play some games, browse the web. I know that it is going to die. I have a spare battery. I change it if I can't charge it.
Battery life is worse than a Blackberry and better than iPhone, and you get the fastest device on the market. What more could you ask for?

Continued battery drain issue (Stats and math incl.)

I was having an issue before that would drain my battery even when the phone was idle, but I found out that it was because the phone was trying to connect between 2G and 3G networks and somehow that was a huge problem. Now it barely loses any power when on standby, so that's good.
But I have another problem. While doing something normal, such as browsing the web for 5 minutes, the battery will drain about 5 to 10%. I think that's pretty bad. Shouldn't it only be like 2%? Not even that I think.
2% every 5 minutes of normal use. 100/2 = 50 * 5 = 250 minutes /60 = 4.1 hours of battery life.
Isn't the G1 supposed to have 6 to 8 hours? And mine is running out about 5% from 5 minutes of just browsing the internet.
Here's some stats from Spare Parts > Battery History:
Other Usage
Since last unplugged
Running (40.7%)
Screen on (22.7%)
Wifi On (50.3%)
Wifi Running (50.2%)
All red bars.
What does this mean? I heard red bars were bad, how can I fix this?
Running is down to 7% and Screen on is at about 6% I think, still red bars. Any ideas still? I've since calibrated my phone and it's obviously better, but not as good as it seems to be for some people who report 14 hours with normal use.
It's at 57% right now with about an hour, maybe two, of use in total. i.e. browser, gensoid, downloading a few apps, and looking around the settings and apps in general.
I'm pretty disappointed seeing as how some people are saying they browsed the internet and listened to music throughout the day and got 12 hours of life out of it. I'm going to try a different ROM after I test the total time browsing and playing tomorrow.
I'm just going to browse the internet and play games or listen to music with it until it dies to test how long it lasts. I'll report back with the time, it probably won't be long.

CM 5.0.8? I just flashed and my battery life is doing the same thing... hell, I took it into the bathroom with me to read some RSS feeds and it said it had 81%, shut itself off, and pretended it was already dead.
I'm about to flash a diff ROM to see if that does the trick, and i've seen other people having the same issue with CM. I might have a dead battery too but it seems so sudden...
My friend sent me this phone less than a week ago and he said it was fine before he sent it to me. I never got the problem where it shuts off at stupid times.
I'm currently running the latest SuperBad, which is based off CM 5.0.8. I just flashed to it today, here are some stats:
Code:
100% 12:40 AM
88% 12:50 AM
75% 01:10 AM
From 12:50 to 1:10 I felt like I was using it more heavily than from 12:40 to 12:50, so that was kind of weird. It even heated up more. I guess it's better now to some extent, but it's still a problem.
40 minutes for 25% battery is still kind of messed up. That's still only 2.6 hours of continued use. Yeah, that's pretty bad. I can text people throughout the day, but what about calls? How long can I make them for? I remember talking to someone for 5 hours straight before I had to plug in my old HTC Titan.
EDIT: I forgot to add that it barely runs out at all when on sleep mode. I went to sleep with it at 44% last night and I woke up with 44%. Then I texted my friend a few times and it went down to 40%, no joke.
I just bought a new battery for mine and the difference is night and day. I think the battery on the G1 is 2 plus years old now and that is their lifespan. All the recent 2.1 roms have put extra strain on them and the batteries are failing as they a past their sell by dates.
Seriously try a new battery - can be had for a fiver on eBay.
I honestly doubt the battery has gone bad; two weeks ago it was doing fine in my friend's hands.
Here are some stats from yesterday:
Code:
100% 12:40 AM
88% 12:50 AM
75% 1:10 AM
--- (sleep)
74% 2:47 AM
66% 3:00 AM
--- (sleep)
64% 9:35 AM
59% 9:37 AM
58% 9:42 AM (sleep)
54% 9:45 AM
51% 9:50 AM
41% 10:00 AM (game)
40% 10:01 AM
39% 10:31 AM (sleep)
38% 11:37 AM (while sleeping)
31% 11:43 AM (settings)
0% while sleeping
I downloaded an app called System Panel and supposedly it's going to help me figure out what's using up my battery over time. Maybe there's something in there messing it up. If anyone knows how to use it or has some instructions, go ahead and link me

Very less battery drain, what did I do to make this change?

Last 3 weeks or so I have been optimizing to save battery power, read most of the thread but the best I could get was 12-16 hrs, surprisingly today last 12 hrs since I charged it fully, it has ONLY consumed 27% till now, daily usage include checking mails & making calls & xda forum browsing mostly.
I am concerned as to what made my battery so good suddenly as I want to follow the same foot steps, only thing i did differently is that I completely switched off phone (1st time ever while charging) for 2 hrs when the phone was charging.................could that be the reason for so good battery life?
After 24 hrs it shows 38% left (2hrs of extensive use in the morning with music in background), that is unbelievable to me, can someone help as to suddenly what is making this battery life so long?

Your past good karmas
im getting an avg backup of 2 days, with some music, camera and internet.
Maybe the telecomms station in your area just got upgraded?
I barely get through the day.
My usage is when my screen is on refresh all my mails. thats is
My internet use is hardly 1 hr and no music/game for the fear of my battery.
Today in 4 hrs i've lost out 15% battery.
What can i do here..please suggest.

Battery life and Charging time

I've owned the Samsung Focus S now for 12 days. I came from an android bionic. I have owned Windows Phones before, the Venue Pro and the Hd7. But this is my first Samsung.
For the first few days, the battery life was fine, a full day. But this past week I find my self hard pressed to reach a full work day. I don't play music during the day nor do I have many, if any calls. Mostly SMS and internet.
I've turned off as many background tasks as acceptable, limited the number of live tiles, set brightness to auto, and check email off of push. Yet this morning I reached 20% in about 8 hours.
In addition, I find the time to charge is extremely long. It might take 4-6 hours to fully charge from 80%.
Is this normal for a Samsung?? My other windows phones, and my bionic certainly do no present the same battery problems as this one does.
Thoughts, or is this usual?
Do you have wi-fi turned on? This is a real battery burner...
My Focus S usually goes through about a day and a half before I need to recharge. That's with a few phone calls, some messages, a bit of wi-fi browsing at night, etc. Email only gets checked every hour but it's on 3 different accounts.

while I'm home WiFi is on. Away from home its off. This is normal behavior for all my phones. All of them last at least 18-24 hrs, under the same condition.
Took it back to art. They said , lets try a different battery. I'm willing to try it for now.
I just wanted to add to this as I seem to be experiencing a similar issue.
I purchased my phone at the end of Dec, it's been great.
Now, since around a week ago I've been having issues. I used to get roughly 2 days use per charge and it used to charge quickly.
Now, the phone runs hot, the battery drains in 6 hours or less, and it takes many hours to recharge.
I turned off the one app running in the background. I turned off wi-fi. It doesn't seem to help. The battery itself doesn't seem to be too hot, but it's hard to judge.

I did a factory reset, and got a new battery. I then reinstalled less than half of my existing apps. In addition I've set my display brightness to medium.
Battery life has doubled, and the charging is much quicker.
Read an article yesterday about ads in free apps eating about 35% more battery. Who knows.
Even if they're running in the background? My Focus S takes a lot of time to charge and decharges so fast. 35% is no joke.

I'm also having some kind of battery issue, I have 2 batteries and they are both 100% charged but by the end of the day one is completely dead and the other is about 20%. I use my phone a lot for music and browsing over 4g and WiFi, but I charge by battery to 100% then go to the battery saver setting and at 100% it says time remaining about 5 hours. An when I turn on battery saver it says about 6 hours. On a full charge this seems crazy. Also with the homebrew battery monitor app. It says my phone is using over 4000mV. With screen set to low and in airplane mode. This is wierd.

4000mV? I assume you mean mA? not mV? 4000mV is only 4V which is about right, your voltage shouldn't change much, perhaps +-10% tops
if you do in fact mean Amps...
4000mA is 4A an hour, your battery would be dead in about 20 min at that rate and probably in fire as well
So, lets look at this in a different way,
2 batteries, that's about 3.3Ah max, you only had about 20% left in one which is approx 330mA so lets call it an even 3A of juice burned during your day.
An Average long day at work 12 hours
that's 250mAh current draw every single hour of that 12 hour day.
250 is quite high, but normal with the screen on and high brightness an wifi, however that isn't normal if you are normal and don't sit at your phone each hour for an hour for a whole day.
Things that can send your phone off on a amp burning spree? most common one is the backlight, set it to auto, and have a dark /black theme, AMOLED is the opposite to normal LCD screens where having a white background was best,
Next up is your signal strength, low 3G signal will eat your battery (4G is worse but thankfully we don't have that)
keep battery saving on all the time, it only kicks in when it needs to but I have seen dramatic differences having it turned off even with a full battery, im not sure what it changes when its not down to low battery but it does something.
background tasks can play a part but are minimal on WP.
I have 3 accounts on push sync, wifi and Bluetooth always on (but not always connected), I use it a lot during the day including several phone calls and web browsing, I start work at 8am, finish at 7 or 8 PM and im still sitting with 50% battery...
that works out at an average of just under 70mAh. that's about the normal level id expect, its double that if I turn battery saver off (even though it wont kick in until the last hour of the day)
oh I can make it go quicker when I show off the full capability's of our screens too
