Ac t110 tv out cable with hero?? - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I got the AC T110 TV out cable for HTC and I have a movie transferred from my PC onto my HTC Hero, but when I try to use the TV out cable nothing happens on the TV or phone. I called tech support and was told there is a third party application to make the cable work with the Hero, but they could not tell me the name and I couldn't find the app. Does anyone know one?

Short answer: No
Reason being: I don't think the hardware for TV out is actually in the hero. That cable is meant for the HTC Touch Pro (and maybe Touch Pro2).
Unless somebody discovers that the TV out is in the same video chip, and can get it to output it and then write the software for it.

Though I have never seen the need for it, I thought the entire purpose behind our funky Mini ExtUSB was for Video out....

nah htc just made that proprietary to make their own little headphone adapter during the touch diamond era. at least, my friend had one of those...

The ExtUSB has been around for too long.. On most of HTC's phones that have a 3.5mm jack, the functionality of the ExtUSB is expanded to video. I've noticed some funky stuff with different OEM and third-party adapters, so I'll check later.

So I guess the answer so far is No? Cause The tech support lady seemed pretty certain there was an app that could make this possible with that cable from the Hero...

You made the fatal error of believing something a tech support person said to you. Half the time they spew garbage that is fed to them from some guide on how to milk money out of customers or how to placate the customer instead of actually helping them. Failing that they just make something up and hope you don't know any more than they do.

Integrated Antenna

What do people think about integrated antennas like these:
http://store.mp3car.com/Roof_top_GPS_Cellular_PCS_WiFi_antenna_p/com-008.htm
I am thinking about getting one like this for my car obviously to up the gps and cellular signal strength.
A question I have for any TyTn II experts, Which antenna does the WiFi use, is it integrated into the cellular antenna or gps or neither?
Neither, I believe all three have their own internal antennas. I say this because I have seen the internal photos of the Hermes and Trinity (which has GPS) and they had seperate small antennas. The Kaiser has two external antenna ports but after bricking my 1st Hermes by plugging an external antenna in and having it kill my radio, I'll never play the external game again. Besides it seems to work very well on all radios, even simultaneously, without externals.
I Would Have To Go With All In A 3 In One (technicaly)
FROM MY EXPERIENCE I WOULD SAY THAT THEY ALL WORK WITH THE RIGHT DRIVERS.
hOW EVER BEING ABSTRACT I WOULD SAY SINCE I BELIEVE MOST OF ALL THE PHONES HAVE GPS BUILT IN and THAT THE WRITE DRIVER SHOULD GIVE YOU THE ABILITY TO UTILIZE THE antenna FROM THE PHONE WHICH HAS MORE THAN ONE WIRE IN IT.
external NOW YOUR TALKING SOME EXTRA BOOST JUST FOR YOUR CONNECTION TO IT.
YOU CANT GO WRONG, TRICK IS ALL ABOUT TIME AND EFFICIENCY COST IS PERSONAL OPINION[
good luck
The first photo is with the rubber grommet off and you can see the hole that goes through to the documented external GPS antenna. In the red circle is a piece of plastic that is blocking another external antenna port.
The 2nd photo is with the whole back off and inside the circle again you can see the extra antenna port.

1. Stop yelling!
2. Most phones do NOT have GPS built-in.
3. You don't need drivers to use an external antenna. It's a physical connection.
4. Get your facts straight.
5. I like the antenna. Now if it had an XM antenna in it, I would buy it in a heartbeat. It would also work great for wardriving (not with my Tilt, but with my laptop)
Another Fan i apologize for not being clear

3. You don't need drivers to use an external antenna. It's a physical connection.
Who said anything about drivers for the XM Radio antenna. I said Driversfor the internal gps antena. Read the kaiser wiki... the wiki for the pre-installed gps module.
4. Get your facts straight.
Well this is the part where tell you my way of thinking. I dont read so bare with me considering i am self taught and taking over a hundred different phones apart i can even say with out knowing that they stopped the technology cause 1000 features that are to advanced become a forum!!!!

People don't like when you use ALL CAPS. It looks like you're yelling at them.
The way you made your statement, it sounded like you needed drivers for the GPS antenna, which is not true. You need drivers to utilize the GPS radio. Two different things. You even got the two mixed up in the same post.
I seriously doubt the Kaiser is 5 years old. Where are you getting this information??
Personally I think your statements tend to ramble and be incoherent, but I digress. The Kaiser is an excellent phone. I love having built-in GPS. I am probably going to buy an external GPS antenna for it, although it really doesn't need it. I can even get 2-3 birds inside my house.

What does this mean? That HTC or other cell phone manufacturer are removing components on a board they've already produced before they release a new phone? Why on earth would they do that when they could save the cost of buying the additional circuitry in the first place and just order a run of what they want?
I said Driversfor the internal gps antena.

Not really, no. It sounds like you're saying the Kaiser is using a board that's five years old and has physically had circuits removed from it because HTC didn't want to provide all of the features/functions that they could. I sincerely doubt that this is the case, since they'll produce a couple million of these things and paying even $1 extra for circuits they'll remove and labor to remove them makes no sense when they can order up a board that they want and get it for cheaper.
Throw in that you posted in all caps (considered rude by just about everyone) and then provided information that just doesn't add up, I'm not surprised you got push back.
Again i apologize for beining insulted and for any misrepresentation

I came to the conclusion that they all had gps in them from a market professional stand pioint. So really just appriciate some input.

Don't insult us by calling us "genius". There are a lot of very smart people on this board. Without their help, my phone wouldn't be nearly as fun to play with.
You made a pretty broad assumption that if one or two phones have GPS built-in, then all of them do. The fact is, very few phones have GPS built-in. My last phone, the 8525, was a very good phone with lots of features. It's less than a year old and it doesn't have GPS. Go ahead and keep making those assumptions and you'll stand out as someone who doesn't know how to do any kind of research. You will make yourself look like a fool.
P.S. Spell check is your friend. Use it.
Actually the 8525 does have GPS! However, after in-depth investigation these XDA folks identified that while the IC Chipset did have GPS as part of it's standard fratures, HTC shorted those particular pins to ground on the circuit board and did not include the internal amp and antenna assembly as well so it was impossible to make it work on them without major micro surgery. The Trinity, however, had the components and thru software was able to have it's GPS come to life. But certainly all phones don't have Chipsets with integrated GPS.
I would agree that many companies will use a particular chip and elect NOT to provide all of the features at first release or for specific models, that is normal marketing driven buisness and gives us reasons to buy the next model.
XDA certainly has made it possible for us all to reap the collective tinkering experience and get more from the phones we have and sometimes get these hidden features with a little work.
No disrespect "aboutthemind", but I must agree that your text is a challenge to understand, but I'm always amazed at the worldwide, round-the-clock, activity on this forum. I've learned so much here.

Actually they got the GPS chip activated but could receive no valid data since the antenna bits were not present, they investigated the internal components and determined that it was basically not worth the effort to attempt to unsoldier all of the grounded pins on the chip and then get an amp/bandpass filter and antenna installed. No one ever got a 8525 to work and the project halted, but along came Kaiser!
Here's another one: http://www.mobileplanet.com/p.aspx?i=151025 much cheaper too, but only to be placed on the dash. Probably work just as good though.
My Wing has only one external connection. I bought a 3 watt Wilson booster which then goes to a Yagi (one directional antenna). Its awesome the reception I get. Costs about $300.00 to do all this.
ok no gps in 8525 and aboutthemind is a fool Y N

Sorry man, but I can't make any sense out of what you're trying to say. I didn't put any words into your mouth. I don't know where you got that idea.
You made some pretty broad statements about GPS in phones and I told you that that is not true - most phones do not have GPS built-in. The 8525 has some of the hardware, but it is not a complete, workable solution.
Also, I did not call you a fool. I said you would look like a fool if you made broad statements about phones in general that are not true.

Update on order
Well I placed my order on friday the 2nd of October and had to call on wednesday (7th) to check status and I was told that there was a recall on all myTouch 3g TV-OUT Cables due to the fact that the ones they had in stock ONLY worked with the Europe version of the myTouch.
Accoring to the Rep, he was not 100% sure when the US version would be in stock.

hopefully they have it. i dont remember seeing it.
I have that cable right here, and it doesn't do a thing on my MT3G. I suspect T-Mobile has it in their assortment for the Touch Pro2 (which does work with it).
I wouldn't waste my money on ordering it. If the MT3G had TV Out enabled, someone cooking a rom would have found references to it ages ago.

The cable has audio, but my MT3G didn't do anything with it. It has a charging port, and that appears to be the only thing that works. As I said - on my Touch Pro2, there is a control panel option for TV out, and it works perfectly on that.
As it only has the composite, yellow, rca for video out, I don't see it as a big loss ( sorry for the people who already bought it) that it doesn't work. Like said previously, the res on your tv would be really bad anyway. Hate to say it but my ipod touch has component out on its cable and that is analog, but at least it's high res.

TV Out

Anyone know where to get the TV out cable?
Google 73H00274-00M
I believe that's the cable as it has the extra USB connector to charge the phone while it's outputting the video.
I think this si it. YOu may want to email the seller and confirm tho.. http://www.amazon.com/OEM-HTC-Out-Cable-ACT100/dp/B002OOZDSE
I think that cable is mini usb not micro
Correct that is mini not micro, cable will not work. But what about the combination of http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002OOZDSE/ref=oss_product and
http://www.banggood.com/Wholesale-Micro-Male-To-Mini-Female-Usb-Converter-Adapter-Cable-p-11269.html
I think $20 bucks is worth the try.
That won't work either... the adapters only push through the standard pins, not the special pins used by HTC for their TV out...

one for each TV in the house
Seriously I need this... with the skyfire browser this will be the most useful cable ever. No more hooking up the laptop to watch last week's shows that I missed.
I have heard from wirefly that verizon wireless will give it out in a month..
But what I dont like is that there is no dedicated output port in incredible .. (ie its a matter of time when your phone will get discharged ).. So this thing will be useful only for quick preview on TV(like done for camera).
they could make a cable with an inline micro female to charge simultaneously
do not buy the ACT100 cable it does NOT work with the incredible. the slot is like the same as the HTC HD so it will not fit.

According to this video HTC explained that the TV-Out cable has an extra Micro USB port on it that allows the device to be charged while having the TV-Out cable connected as well. Really hope we get this cable in stores soon as I'd love to try this feature!
Correct you will be able to charge as its plugged in.
I just really hope that the dev who made the app to sync a Wii remote with Android comes up with the HTC fix. It would be so nice to have all of these game emulators on your phone that you can play with a Wii remote on your TV or anywhere there is an RCA connect.
Off-topic: There is a bluetooth controller that supposedly works with HTC Sense 2.1 devices I am considering purchasing, the MSI BGP100. I dont much care for it, but it supposedly works according to the dev website. It uses the app Gamepro on the market. Id much rather use the Zmote, but Ill probably just wait for Wiimote support on the Incredible.
On-topic: VZW warehouses dont even have them in stock. As in, they are still awaiting mass-production apparently. Fullfilment Inventory= 0. A few HTC events have had the cable being demoed but not for purchase. Good god how I long for one! Like many of you I have also scoured the interwebs for one with no success. Outside of bumping into a htc rep, looks like we might just have to hurry up and wait fellas.
Yea, just as everyone else i want one bad!!
It is not listed on their parts site yet either. Even though a lot of stuff there is back ordered.

^--yes, that's it, but it is not in production yet as far as we know.

[Q] Do I really have to pay £20+ for a USB cable?

Why hasn't anyone produced a cheaper alternative yet? I know it's not a common connector, but the phone has been out for a long time now. Any ideas? Thanks.

If you want one YES
I haven't found any third party ones yet
lol..well said.
i hate that phones/laptops use proprietary ****...
but i guess that's where the money is so its stupid not to from a business standpoint.
thats why I always like nokia and htc,,
they would make a top shelf unbranded universal device.
no bs chargers, or batteries, or no mem slot, internal battery etc...
they give you a completely unbranded, un tainted device that actuall does everything...
not the almost everything that these cell phone companies do..
they cant give you everything in one phone because then you will never buy the new one they are selling.
so all that considered the dell streak starts to look pretty damn good...
atleast until the HD3 is released.
I would never have bought this if my HD2 didnt suffer touch screen death.
had dual boot super tech wm 6.5.5 touch rom with froyo 2.2 bluetopia rolling.
It was best of both worlds..
made my nokia n97 seem like a toy.
now the Dell streak has done that even with the HD2..
Extremely impressed!
They call it a tablet but its really a giant cell phone.
they should get Brock Lesnar to endorce it...
it would look very proportional i bet..
so if any marketing vp's are reading this.. there you go...
And,...Brock if you're reading hook me up with some UFC tickets..lol

Not that HTC is any better with their USB headphones on some models like my Touch Pro2! And PDMI is not proprietary, but Dell jumped the gun. They should all just have stayed with Mini USB.

Due to the formatting that post was ridiculously hard to read as it just didn't flow.
I agree that paying £20+ for what is supposedly an open standard plug (PDMI) is a bit excessive however it's a sellers market when people are early adopters. In time we will find that the plugs will become available cheaper cables will be produced, I believe members on XDA-Developers have already sussed out the pin-out for the cable, they just need the plugs.
I have been trying to source some however as of yet haven't had any luck, second I find some I'll be making cables like they're going out of fashion.

You can get an adapter for the USB headset, but the one that works with a headset with microphone is quite expensive. Besides, it is a real pain, carrying it around, trying not to lose it, etc. And the strange thing about the Touch Pro2 is that sound through the speakers is much better than through headphones.
Really? Not if you steal one.... Lol
Second... Shouldn't that have been a question you asked yourself before you bought a $400 proprietary device?

Obviously I was aware of the cable before I bought the device, it's not enough to stop me buying it, just annoying.

Exactly, the Touch Pro2 has the best hardware keyboard around and music wasn't my first priority. So I got it and still use it as a business phone. Every device has some drawbacks, as mentioned by others, if they made them almost perfect, why would you think of upgrading early?
keep an eye out for the samsung galaxy tab aswell it uses pdmi connector so should work on the streak, you can also get tv out cable
Ignore above
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just read on mydellmini site someone has both the Streak &the Galaxy Tab. He states that no they do not work.
The question now is which is standard pdmi, Galaxy Tab or Dell Streak or are neither ?
another member here reported that he ordered this car charger (actually for an iPad) and that it DOES work. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.45227

The charger probably works, the cable it's a no no unless you change your streak port to fit an ibrick plug.
Hope he doesn't get flooded with requests...

Looks like someone may have found an alt source for cables. They expect a sample from their supplier next week and may be making a bulk order shortly there after - last I heard it was 3 cables, AC adaptor, car adaptor = $30.

No - that is NOT what I reported.
That USB charger does work with the Streak - but you need to use the Streak's USB cable to connect it.
The iPad has a completely different USB cable to the Streak ! The cord that comes with the car charger is to fit the iPad, not the Streak - so you can just throw it in the bin.

The picture showing the Dell Strea sync cable on the website linked above seems to indicate in its caption that the same cable could be used for a Zune HD (I say seems as I don't read Korean).
Would someone be able to verify that a Zune HD uses PDMI (and the same 30-pin connector) and so possibly ZUne cables may be an alternative?

Zune HD is 24 pin and streak is 30 pin

I posted a solution here without having to look for new cables or sodering usb chargers.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=10634108&highlight=car+charger#post10634108
Basically, it seems that firmware dictated how the usb cable charged. Rooted my 1.6, and flashed up to Stock 2.2 released by Dell for its unlocked units. I'm unsure if the earlier versions (2.1) would work too. Anyhow, no longer had any problems and could charge in my car just fine without overheating. Make sure whatever usb car charger you get, that the port has at least 1A of juice coming out. Good luck!

Stereo reverse

Hi i have a rooted NC running at 1,1.
All is working fine, but i have a problem with movies
All my video is working with stereo 'reverse'
i'm using headphones, and the left sound is at right, and the right sound is at left ...
It s like that on all my videos,
on my computers all is ok with the same headphone.
Do you have the same problem ? is it possible to reverse the stereo sound output on the NC ? using a APP, or maybe in an advanced menu ?
thx
Best regards
Does this problem only appear with the oc'ed kernel?
No idea, i saw this problem yesterday
someone here have the same problem ?
Ayorosknight, eurosa is asking if you're running the stock kernel rooted or if you are running an overclocked kernel. Is your NC running with defaults aside from the root or have you done any other mods to it. That'll help with the troubleshooting.
Oops sorry,
yes i'm using a o/c kernel (kernel-1100mhz-omap3630.zip)
available here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=925451
And i'm on Eclair.
thx
now if you could just flash the stock kernel and test your audio that would be helpful

i am running completely stock currently and i have the same issue as well. audio is reversed from what it should be according to the what's happening on screen.
so has anyone else had this issue with the audio channels being reversed? trying to figure out how common it is.
i just finished talking to B&N about getting an exchange, but to say that it's a hassle is an understatement. it started with me going to the store on monday, they told me i had to call the 1-800 number because i bought it online, then one the phone they said i had to go through the whole tech support to try and fix the problem before they would escalate the case to exchange it. i do the whole reset thing and they say if it continues to have issues to call back. well today i finally had time to call back and after 20 minutes of nothing they said that i should go back to the store and tell the customer service person to call their store support line. i flatly told her that if she expected me to put more time into this by driving back out to the store, one in which they had dismissed me already and told me to call the 1-800 line, just to get a properly working device then i would rather her just send me to the returns department so they could issue a rma and i wouldn't even bother with owning this device. sorry, but 4 attempts by the customer to right the problem is too many.
anyway, after talking to the supervisor my new device is on the way. however, if i get another nook color that has the same issue i will just give up on owning one. i'm not going through that nonsense again.
so again, is this a common issue?
Would it really be a deal breaker if the channels are reversed? Why not just switch your earbuds to opposite ears? Otherwise, get a 6-inch 3.5mm extension cord. Cut it, solder back togeher with the channels switched. Ta-Da: poor-man's channel swapper. There are other options...

First off, you do realize that many headsets, earbuds included, are meant to work with the L and R sides placed correctly on the corresponding ear, right? Take a look at your set, if they are anything like the 3 different pair I have then the tiny drivers are angled to deliver sound down the ear canal. Furthermore, with a set of Nike over the ear style sports you don't have a choice as they are made to only fit one way.
Second, why would I go about buying and soldering something to make a new device work like it already supposed to?
Yeah there's optons, which I'll explore if I have to, but don't you think something should work like its supposed to when you buy it?

First off: Do whatever the hell you want.
Second: I don't care
Furthermore: This was only a suggestion. You seem to be carrying a bit of pent-up frustration. Vent elsewhere, not on me...

not trying to take it out on you. i apologize if it came off that way. you stated the obvious solution in switching the earbuds. i merely stated the obvious that they are meant to work a certain way.
also, i'm not rooted.
so i got a replacement nook and it still has the same issue. so frustrating.
