cache, swap or nothing

Hey guys so when I created my ext partition I remember also creating a swap partition. I don't think I am but am I now running a sort of ram enchancment? If not i take it that I should set up a swap and not a cache. Could someone please link me to a method to set up swap. I used search and found a thread but it was very old. So once again thanks for any help.
EDIT I am not sure if it matters but I am on a rogers ebi1/32a phone
On also how can I tell how large I set that partition? And what size do you guys recommend.
i now see an option in CM mod to enable compcache, if i tick this will it automatically work? is there any method for me to figure out if its working?
One more quick question, i dont want to make a new thread:
Do you guys tick enable haptic feedback? if so what exactly does this do? I cant find a difference. Based on the name i would have assumed that it makes the phone vibrate with each touch.

Yes it will automatically work, and trust me if Cyan put it in the rom it will work. Just giving the answer because I don't remember the command to check

Need Help From The pros

So I'm fairly new to android about three months now, and need help.....
1) How do you modify system files and apk's? (tried Estrongs but it won't let me use root access even when i click the always allow prompt)
2) Can someone explain exactly how i partition for Apps2SD ( PM me if possible)
3) Can you change bootscreens with a .zip flash? if so does anyone have a link for the cynanogen mod nexus boot as used in Darchvanilla??
Thank you and any help is deeply appreciated.....
did you just make 2 threads of the exact same thing???
That search feature has been breaking all damn day!! I swear we need a HUGE Search icon in the middle of the freakin forum.
not purposely i'm on a slow connection and clicked it twice???

1) mount to your pc pull the apk you wish then use "7 zip" to extract it
2) boot into recovery(home + end call) go to partition...partition swap + file + ext
3) yes you can flash a boot screen using a zip file
For the bootscreens use Fresh's new kitchen. It has the nexus one bootscreen and a couple others. Then you just hit a couple of buttons and its on your phone without having to manually edit or even boot into recovery.

[Q] Android ID

Hi everyone, I searched a lot on this forum and others and I couldn't find an answer to my problem (or even if my problem is a big deal). I flashed Assonance with the include kernel, my first ROM flash =-) and I did a lot of research before I did it and decided to backup my Android ID...which I did, BUT I only wrote down the number and now when I enter it into "Android ID Changer v1.5" I click "Change ID" and it automatically reboots but does NOT change my ID...yes I have busy box and super user access. Can anybody help me? Is this even a big deal?
on the root of your SD card, create a file name udpate.id (yes, udpate, it's a typo, but that's what the startup script reads) and put only your android id in it. then restart your phone and check if the idea has changed. also it's not that big of a deal, but the problem with these custom roms is that everyone on the same rom ends up with the same android id (i think?) which causes us to queue up for downloads on the market instead of downloading instantly.

Yes, but save it as a .id or save the .txt and rename the extension to .id.

ROOT: Where can I find screen/display settings in the "/data/data/" path

Just got fooled by "Screen Change:Root" application, i wanted to change my display ratio and now I can't even put my password.
I have TWRP already installed and when I wipe data, reinstall the OS (HavocOS) the screen display is fixed.
The problem is I want to keep my data (/data/data), but when I restore it I get the same display issue.
Thank you for the help,
With all my love!
Is it a Magisk Module perhaps? Or does it create one as part of accessing the system?
Because then you could easily disable that Magisk Module, even inside TWRP.
Otherwise, one option would be to contact the developer and ask him for help. He would know what exactly his app changes.

I can't find the developer contact and I'm sure the solution is in front of my eyes.
The file which causes the problem is for sure in /data/data folder. I went through TWRP in the folder and deleted everything suspicious but still when I reboot my display is a mess.
Thank you for helping me!
I've checked out screenshots of the app, and it seems like it runs as a background service. Did you enable "Set on boot"?
So I think it maybe doesn't change any files, but does the command @ every boot.
In that case, you could boot into Android Safe Mode, and .. maybe uninstall the app there.
You could delete the app folder of Screen Changer:Root from /data
Then the app wouldn't be able to run at every boot.
I forgot which folder Android stores all User-apps into.
What I think the app is doing, is it simply does a command (as Root) which changes the resolution, while not changing the defaults
So I don't think it actually changes any files.
Seems like user-apps are stored in /data/app and /data/data.
What was your goal anyway though?
If that's true, it should stop giving the command at every boot if I delete the application data. But when I did the display keept changing.
The app is not a module and I didn't enable to run at every boot.

My device's screen is burned in the top and I use an application to change the ratio, but It makes screen too small and I wanted to try If there's a way to use all the screen exept the burnt area.
