Unable to find device in RSDLite - Motorola Droid and Milestone General

Hi guys, I'm using Motorola Milestone and my bootloader is 90.78. I opened RSDLite and plug in the phone in bootloader mode but my RSDLite is unable to detect my device.
I have already installed the motorola drivers. Anyone has any ideas?

Same issue here. I have bootloader 90.74. On my Windows 7 there's no way...
Drivers 4.1 and 4.6 tested...but no way...

Anyone has any ideas about this issue?

Weird problem :s Works fine on my Win 7 VM. You could maybe try to uninstall and reinstall the driver :/

Some people have issues with RSDLite on Windows 7 64 bits.
I used to have the same problem and finally I had to install it on my netbook which has W7 32 bits and it worked fine.
Did you managed to install it in an other computer ?

The latest RSDLite versions didn't worked for either but version 4.5.3 works good under Windows 7 for me!

I found a solution
Like the rest, I too had the same problem. Then I found out how to make it work by accident.
I am using RSDlite version 4.5.7 on Windows 7 (32-bit version).
This is what you must do.
Step 1:
Download Open Recovery Version 1.46 for Milestone from http://www.modmymobile.com/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=28089
Step 2:
It is a rar file, so use any free software to extract out the contents of this OpenRecovery_v1_46_SHOLS.rar file to a new folder on your desktop.
After u have extracted it, look for a file called vulnerable_recovery.sbf. Copy out this vulnerable_recovery.sbf file to somewhere on your pc for example to the root of your C drive on your PC.
Step 3:
Download from this script to disable the recovery check for signed recovery menu (so that we can apply update.zip later) from
http://modmymobile.com/forums/attac...le-recovery-disable_recovery_check_by_ota.zip.
Unzip the file and there should be a file called Disable_recovery_check_by_OTA.sh
Step 4:
Copy the Disable_recovery_check_by_OTA.sh file to a sub folder called scripts that is within the OpenRecovery folder (which we have already extracted earlier) (eg. OpenRecovery\scripts).
Step 5:
Boot up the phone as per normal and then connect the phone to PC via USB cable
Step 6:
Change the USB Connection to Memory Card Accessl
Step 7:
Go to the desktop of your PC and open up the folder where the contents of the extracted OpenRecovery_v1_46_SHOLS.rar file is. You should then copy the update.zip to the root of your phone's SD card (eg. SDcard\update.zip).
Also copy the whole OpenRecovery folder also to the root level of your SD card (eg. SDcard\OpenRecovery)
Step 8:
Change the USB Connection to Portal & Tool. This is the trick that will allow RSDLite to detect your phone.
Step 9:
Launch RSDLite ver.4.5.7
Step 10:
It will take a few seconds for your phone to appear in the device list of RSDLite
Step 11:
Click on the "..." button and locate and open the vulnerable_recovery.sbf file which we have extracted earlier and had copied out to somewhere (eg. root of C drive).
Step 12:
Click on the "Start" button.
Step 13:
Immediately you would see something in the status progress of RSDlite. RSDlite will switch your phone to the Bootloader mode by itself.
Step 14: - Very Important Step
Pay attention to the status of the Bootloader on your phone. Halfway thru the progress of flashing the vulnerable_recovery.sbf, RSDlite will initiate a reboot of your phone.
When that happens, you must prevent the phone from rebooting into the normal Android mode and get it to boot into the Bootloader mode by quickly pressing & holding up on your D-pad in horizontal (landscape) position.
I would suggest that b4 RSDlite initiate the reboot, you should be prepared for it by sliding out the keyboard first and hold it in the horizontal (landscape) position and get ready to press up on the D-Pad.
by quickly turning your phone to the horizontal position (landscape) and press and hold up on the D-Pad of your phone. Hold the up key of your D-pad for about 3 to 4 seconds before release it and it should be now back in the bootloader mode.
Do not do anything yet. You will know when the flashing of the vulnerable_recovery.sbf is completed and successful when the result in RSDLite device list window says "PASS".
Step 15: - Also very important step
Once the flashing of the vulnerable_recovery.sbf is complete (after you see "PASS" in RSDlite), you may close RSDlite and then unplug the phone from the USB cable.
The phone is still in the bootloader mode. Now be prepared to boot into the recovery mode. This is very important. If you fail to boot into the recovery mode then you will have to repeat from Step 8
The technique that I use on my Motorola Milestone to boot into the recovery mode is by using the 3 button technique. I press the "x" key + power button + camera button together at the same time and hold it until the recovery mode icon appears which is a an exclamation mark within a triangle.
Step 16:
While in the recovery mode, slide the keyboard back in. Then press and hold the volume up button first and then press the camera button once and when you see the recovery menu you can quickly release the volume up button.
Step 17:
Slide the keyboard out. Use the D-pad to navigate. If you are holding the phone in vertical position, then to navigate up and down the recovery menu, just press up or down on the D-pad. To confirm your selection, press down on the middle of your D-Pad.
Using your D-Pad, scroll down to the part it says "apply sdcard:update.zip" and press the middle of your D-Pad to select it.
You should see something packages being downloaded to your phone which is part of the installation process of the Motorola Milestone Open Recovery Menu which is not the stock Recovery Menu.
Step 18:
Once you are in the Motorola Milestone Open Recovery Menu, scroll down to the option that says "Run Script". Select that option.
Step 19:
Then you should be able to see a list of scripts and one of them should be "Disable_recovery_check_by_OTA.sh". Select that script.
Step 20:
Once that "Disable_recovery_check_by_OTA.sh" has been applied, the phone will no longer check for signed recovery menus like this Motorola Milestone Open Recovery Menu when ever you go into the stock recovery menu to "apply sdcard:update.zip". This means you can install different types of "Open Recovery Menu" for different custom roms for Motorola Milestone.
Besides using this Motorola Milestone Open Recovery Menu, I have also tried the following 2 "Open Recovery Menu" on my Milestone:
1) Androidiani OpenRecovery 3.3 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=796679
2) G.O.T OpenRecovery (for installing G.O.T custom FROYO rom) - http://groupoften.wordpress.com/g-o-t-s-openrecovery/
Important Note:
Before you start to install custom roms please do a Nandroid back up of your phone in case something goes wrong during the installation of the custom rom, you can restore your phone back to stock rom.
The Nandroid back up and restore option is available within all 3 "Open Recovery Menu" mentioned above.

I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and I use Motorola USB Drivers 4.7.1 and RSD Lite 4.9. So it would be good to download these versions, which are the latest. If this wont work, do a factory reset on your Milestone.

Newbie on a mac, please check my rooting steps...

I'm using some guys guide for mac users:
1. Take a deep breath. It is just software and you are going to master it!
2. Download and install the Mac OSX Android SDK. I am going to assume for the purposes of this list that you have put it in /Applications/android-sdk-mac_86/tools/ but it doesn't matter.
3. Get fastboot-mac from here. Rename it 'fastboot' and put it in /Applications/android-sdk-mac_86/tools/.
4. Get Radio_20100203_2_Signed_PASSION.img,
update-cm-5.0.4.1-N1-signed.zip AND gapps-passion-ERE36B-2-signed.zip
from here and put them in /Applications/android-sdk-mac_86/tools/.
5. Get recovery-RA-nexus-v1.6.2.img from here and put it in /Applications/android-sdk-mac_86/tools/
6. Put Get Radio_20100203_2_Signed_PASSION.img,
update-cm-5.0.4.1-N1-signed.zip and gapps-passion-ERE36B-2-signed.zip
on the root of the SD card. You can do this by mounting the phone via a USB cable (this works just like any USB stick except you have to click a button on the phone's UI).
7. In your phone settings > applications > development, set usb
debugging to enabled.
8. Turn off your phone and put the SD card with the 3 files on it
into your phone.
9. Hook up the USB connection to your phone and your mac.
10. Reboot phone into fastboot: Hold down trackball, push the power
button and hold both until you see the fastboot screen. (The fastboot
screen is the one with the Androids on skateboards)
11. In Terminal on your mac, cd to /Applications/android-sdk_mac_86/tools
12. Type ‘./fastboot devices‘ to make sure your phone is recognized
(it should list a device number rather than simply returning to
command prompt with no feedback).
13. Type ‘./fastboot oem unlock‘ to unlock the bootloader (wohoo, your phone is now rooted!)
14. Use volume keys on the phone to navigate to yes and press the
power button to confirm.
15. When the phone finishes booting, in your phone settings >
applications > development, set usb debugging to enabled, then power
it down.
16. Reboot phone into fastboot: Hold down trackball, push the power
button and hold both until you see the fastboot screen. (The fastboot
screen is the one with the Androids on skateboards)
17. (you're still in terminal in /Applications/android-sdk_mac_86/tools)
Type ‘./fastboot flash recovery ./recovery-RA-nexus-v1.6.2.img‘. (Note
filename will change as recovery image is updated)
18. Type './fastboot flash radio ./Radio_20100203_2_Signed_PASSION.img'
to also update your radio at this point
19. Once the Recovery flash is complete (should be almost instant),
press the Power Button. The highlighted blue text should now say
HBOOT. Use the volume down button to highlight "Recovery" and hit the
power button to reboot into recovery.
20. if this step fails, power down the phone, and try this: hold down
the VOLUME DOWN button and then hold the POWER button until you get to
the skateboard screen; use volume down to highlight RECOVERY and hit
the POWER button
21. You should now be in the Recovery screen after a reboot -- this
screen has 9 green text options at the top and an android x in the
center of the screen
22. Once in Recovery Mode, use the trackball to scroll down to
"Backup/Restore" and press the trackball three times, and wait until
the backup is complete.
23. Once backup is complete, wipe, since you're coming from stock
(even fastboot oem unlock may not fully wipe, do it just in case) many
users report the phone not booting properly without a wipe at this
point.
24. Scroll down to "Flash zip from sdcard", and press the trackball.
25. Select the CyanogenMod update (update-cm-5.0.4.1-N1-signed.zip),
and press the trackball again to confirm. Wait until the flash is
complete. (Note: this will take a little while).
26. Once again, Scroll down to "Flash zip from sdcard", and press the trackball.
27. This time, select the Google Apps File
(gapps-passion-ERE36B-2-signed.zip), and press the trackball again to
confirm. Wait until the flash is complete.
28. Once you are back in the main menu, press the trackball select the
first option (Reboot system now) and reboot the phone.
29. If everything was done correctly, the phone should boot into CyanogenMod!

My few questions...
Do I really need SDK? I've been reading a lot, and some say use it, some don't mention it.
I've already found that some of his files are updated, so I'd be using the more recent ones.
Also, I'm thinking that I'm NOT going to mess with the radio. I don't have to, right?
ETA: And then I see that his post says nothing about superboot. Am I supposed to do both? Fastboot and then superboot?
And then another question... I plan on getting a 16gb class 6 sd card. Should I wait to do this until I get that? Will I have to do it all over again?
Thanks!!
I am by no means a pro at this, but to answer a a question or 2 of yours...
I never bothered using the SDK. I did download it, but like you, I followed other instructions that did not tell you to use the SDK.
The important part is to put all the downloaded files into your renamed "fastboot" folder, where fastboot will know where to look for it.
Concerning the radio, some ROMS may or may not require different radios, but for the simple process of rooting your phone, I'm pretty sure you're cool.
I used fastboot, but superboot (if I understand it correctly) is a total tool for your use. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it takes the place of all the steps you listed above, and does it all in one command.
Good luck! Its easy, and it sounds like you have all the tools you need!
1) I didn't flash a new radio when I rooted mine (didn't for a couple of weeks until I was comfortable with flashing and abd and stuff). The radio is evidently the greatest risk of bricking the phone.
2) I've typically seen "superboot" to refer to a rom image that modaco hosts that includes the superuser perms and apk and not as a tool (as fastboot is referred to). ymmv.

[Guide] Full Tutorial To Install Custom ROM [GT-P6800]

thnxs to sk806,(go and thank him first)
First, you need to root your device. Download the link from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21584547&postcount=1.
Put the file "root.zip" you just downloaded onto your EXTERNAL SDcard.
Then, power off the device.
When it's off (it'll buzz), press the volume up key (the one closer the power button) and the power key at the same time.
After a few seconds, the "Galaxy Tab 7.7" splash screen will come up. When it does, LET GO OF THE POWER BUTTON, BUT KEEP HOLDING THE VOLUME UP BUTTON.
Soon you will see some yellow writing on your screen saying the device is copying apks, etc. What is happening is you are booting into the tablet's stock recovery. After a bit, the yellow writing will go away, and then you will arrive at a blue menu.
Using the volume keys, select "install from external storage", then press the power button. You will arrive at a menu of your sd card.
Using the volume keys, select "root.zip" and press the power button.
You will again see some yellow writing and your device will be rooted.
After it's done, reboot the device by selecting reboot and pressing power (it may reboot automatically, I can't remember). You are now rooted!
Now that you are rooted, you need to flash the ported Clockwork Mod Recovery for this tablet onto your device. This is a custom recovery that will replace the stock one you saw before and allow you to flash custom ROMs...You can download the recovery .tar file in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21957277&postcount=1.
You can flash the file your just downloaded, "P6800_Recovery.tar" one of two ways: with an app on the market called "Mobile ODIN", it costs a few dollars, or you can download a windows desktop version of ODIN here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19760431&postcount=1. THE MOBILE ODIN METHOD IS MUCH EASIER, AND I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!! If you choose to use Mobile Odin, proceed to the next step and skip steps 14-20, below. If you decide to go the desktop way, skip ahead to step 14.
If you are using Mobile Odin, you just copy the "P6800_Recovery.tar" file to your internal or external storage. Then open Open Mobile Odin. You will see a menu. Toward the bottom, you will see an option to "Open file". Select this and then navigate to the "P6800_Recovery.tar" it will load it up (you will see it in the "recovery" slot). Then hit "Flash Firmware". Wait while it does it's thing, and it will reboot automatically. When it reboots, you have successfully flashed Clockwork Mod Recovery onto your device.
If you use the desktop version, you need to first install Samsung Kies (Google it) to get the proper drivers for you PC to recognize your tablet when plugged in via USB.
Then, copy "P6800_Recovery.tar" to your PC desktop.
Then, you need to unzip the ODIN 1.85.zip you downloaded from the link above onto your desktop, go into the unzipped ODIN folder and run the Odin 1.85.exe.
You will be shown a GUI with a list of buttons on the lower right side (PIT, Recovery, CSC, PDA, Phone, etc.). You want to click the button that says "PDA" and then, in the file selector, choose the "P6800_Recovery.tar" file.
Next you need to put your phone in "download" mode. To do this, power off the device. When it's off, press the VOLUME DOWN and power keys at the same time. When you see the "Galaxy Tab 7.7" splash screen, let go of the power button, but keep holding the volume down button (so, it's like booting into recovery, but with the volume down button, instead).
You will then be shown a caution prompt asking if you really want to enter download mode, hit the volume up key to select yes. Now, plug the tablet into the USB cable that came with your tablet and wait for windows to install the drivers (as noted above, this is why you installed Kies). You will know your device is properly connected when one of the windows in the upper left of the GUI has a yellow bar at the bottom of it and says COM:3 or whatever port you are on.
When you are sure your are connected, click the big Start button and it will go through the process, and your tablet will reboot automatically. You now have Clockwork Mod Recovery flashed to your tablet.
Once you have Clocwork Mod Recovery Flashed onto your device, the last step is to flash the custom ROM.
Download ROM zip file from the thread, then place it somewhere on the internal or external storage of your device, then power off.
Once your device is off, you will boot into recovery like you did above, press the volume up and power keys at the same time, and when you see the "Galaxy Tab 7.7" splash screen. let go of the power button, but hold the volume up key until you boot into clockwork mod recovery (you will see a blue menu again with a little logo of a hat on a gear.
As you will see, this is a different recovery from the one you booted into before, it is a custom recovery that will allow you to flash custom ROMs!
Using the volume keys and selecting with the power key, first perform "wipe data/factory reset". When that's done, perform "wipe cache partition".
When you have done these two wipes, select "Install zip from sdcard". You will then be shown a list of your sdcard's contents. Navigate to the ROM .zip file and press the power key. It will then ask you if you are sure, and select yes then press the power key. You will now see a little progress bar and a description of what is happening. It takes a while and your device will reboot automatically when it's finished.
That's it, you have a custom ROM on your tab!

That's it, you have a custom ROM on your tab!
yes..you can remove it after u install it..but just save it for later purpose my opinion

first question:
Why you can flash this ROM with your stock recovery, i look inside the script steve made and found that
-script mounting and unmounting /data and /system partition
-deleting file system from /data and /system partition
-moving file from zip to /system and /data partition
-making busybox symlinks
-installing kernel
-set some permission
All above process is support with edify script from stock recovery...( until now, i dont know if samsung lock it someday) thats why you can install steve ROM...

This is correct. The tutorial was for all custom ROMs to come, not just my tweaked stock one. The fact that you can flash my ROM is because it is nothing too exotic (it's stock...) and the bootloader and recovery on the tab is not locked down. These things may change, and it is better to have the CWM recovery for that reason AND, especially, as noted in the post above, you can make NANDROID backups which you really should do before you flash a custom ROM...
Steve
thx for the explanation !
i now use CWM recovery, flashed with Odin mobile
great tut, but my CHINA P6800 will not accept any other ROM install for some reason. Yes, I have a brain and others confirm it's somehow locked. No f-ing idea how; more research after (endless) travel.

This should be included in the tutorial imo.
so in a nutshell, we're bootloader unlocked, I can get my brand new HK galaxy tab 7.7 and root/CWM right away (like my OG tab) without having to do any Bootloader unlock method?

[ROOT Stock ICS] The easiest way...

Ok this is taken from the HTC SPAIN site (Im only translating it)
1.- Download both files at the bottom:
2.-You will need to install the OMAP4430 drivers (they are inside the file you just download)
a) open device manager
b) Connect the phone to usb with out the battery,
c) you will see "omap4430 device" appearing and disappearing
d) as soon as you see it right click on it and chose proprieties
e) click on the drivers tab and select update driver
f) select the driver on the folder "usb_drv_windows" from the file you downloaded and install them
g) wait till it finish installing them
[Edited by pete3000 to make the process more understandable]
3.- now run the file "Instalar Recovery ICS Europeo.bat" then:
a) Connect the USB cable from the phone to the PC without the battery
b) Wait until the message "Wait 5-Seconds...", then put the battery in.
c) Wait until installation is complete and you see the green screen and the message.
------------------------------
Installed recovery!
Please remove the USB cable
------------------------------
d)Now you can disconnect the cable USB, remove the battery, return the battery, and boot the phone.
4.- Copy the "Su_Bbox_1.20.2_gazhead_signed.zip" file to memory (either internal or external SD card) and install it with in CWM
5. to boot into Clockwork Mod, shut the phone down all the way
a) hold down the 3D button, the VOL DOWN and POWER at the same time. (some say hit vol up but this didn't work for me)
b) when the backlight comes on the screen, let go of the power and vol DOWN ONLY, keeping the 3D held down until you see the clockworkmod touch interface come up.
c) choose install zip from sdcard
find the Su_Bbox_1.20.2_gazhead_signed.zip file using the vol + and - keys.. then scroll downpast the No's to the YES and tap it on the screen.
And you will have a rooted ISC V30B
Enjoy!

i followed this quide but now when i boot up i have greyd in lg logo is there a way to get rid of this or?
I wish this was as easy as you make it sound. When i plug my phone into the computer with no battery in, device manager takes 5 seconds or so to load the devices again, and by that time, there is no omap option to select. Is the omap driver messed up, maybe we could modify it to work without the device manager work around

did you need to have the normal lg drivers installed also, mine stays at the grey lg logo, and the pc seem to be finding all the other device that need drivers.
Omap4boot stays at a blue screen " waiting for device "never turns green, does it normally complete everything at the grey lg logo?

ok got it working there was a 2nd device in device manager i had to manually direct to the same driver folder....
Again, it would have been easier if the BAT file was written in English. maybe some dev on here can update it. I would also like to see them use the adb capabilities and install the su, so you dont have to go into CWM to install it.
Now we need an update to WIFI Tether, unless someone finds a successful combination in the program for setting it up. it had settings for the thrill 4g running froyo and gingerbread.
Thanks all this worked great. I'm also looking for a tehering hotspot fix.

!! IMPORTANT!! be careful using ROM MANAGER with rooting your phone w/this method
The Clockworkmod recovery this bat file uses is a little bit old and has a "reboot" bug. To avoid it, Do not install the ROM MANAGER on google play and immediately boot to the CWM. ROM MANAGER sets a trigger that keeps rebooting into the old CWM and never back to the regular OS. It's officially called the Clockworkmod reboot loop
To fix this, I used this tool which launches a .BAT file http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2144738 similar to the one you rooted with above. you will need to update the clockwork mode to version 6.0.1.9 (option 5). i also flashed the ICS boot loaders too (option 8).
when i rebooted the phone a new version of CWM showed up and all i had to do was reboot thru CWM. And i was back to the at&t boot screen.

So are you running ICS or GB? Option 5 is for GB. Just double checking before I follow your lead.
Nevermind... I did the update with ICS and it worked fine. The only difference I see is you will need to hold down the power button and vol down longer when you boot it into CWM. If you release the power button and vol down button as soon as you see the back light it shuts down instead of boot.
I made an attempt to edit the settings.db , hoping to regain my hotspot functionality.. No luck the phone hung during boot. So I decide to factory reset it. Now there is no entitlement entries in the settings.db. The file is much smaller. I'm guessing the carrier has moved the wifi entitlement to another db.
i found a wifi tether post for ICS in the O3D area, but it didnt work either..
i saw this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2181555 but his settings didn't work. I hope someone can help us with it soon. i filed a bug report to the actual wifi router site.
I got hotspot working. I'll send details after I get home this evening.

Hi Pete. Personally i had a problem with the easy form of rooting the stock ICS, because i got the clockwork mod loop when i tried to go back into a factory reset.
Can i Use your method with a stock ICS in my thrill?
Another question is, Have any body fix the movie player missed function in ICS? because in GB i can play any 3D movie, whatever the format and can change it.
Thanks for your time
yes. I used it with stock ICS from AT&T/LG.
for 3D movies, open the movie in the stock player. you will see a side by side version of the movie. Hit the 3D button then hit the the settings button to choose side-by-side.

[In-depth Guide] How to Root, ROM, Unbrick and add CWM to your GT-S5830i

So the Samsung Galaxy Ace is starting to get old and obsolete now. But that makes it the perfect device to mess around and try all these ROM's on! This is going to be a short guide explaining how to root, unbrick and add some ROM's (With downloads) to your device.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
There's a link to all downloads at the end of this post. Note - I do not own the rights to any of the tools used for the rooting, ROM-ing and unbricking process, all credit goes to the rightful owners, unfortunately I can't remember who made each one so shout out to them all!

Disclaimer: In doing any of the following you are voiding your warranty and will trip the knox counter. If you don't understand the implications of rooting and changing your devices coding, I would advice checking before continuing
Rooting your device
So let's start. First off your gonna want to root your device, right? So in order to do this we are going to use a small zip file (download below)
Step 1 - Connect your PC to your device using a USB cable.
Step 2 - Chances are now you will get a notification pop up on your phone, this will say something along the lines of "Click here to start file transfer." All your gonna want to do is click on this notification and then wait until a button comes up saying connect to PC. Click that button and now we have access to the device from your PC.
Step 3 - Download the root zip file below if you haven't already.
Step 4 - With your phone still on, locate the folder in which your device stores everything and copy the root.zip file into your phones sd directory (if possible), or main directory.
Step 5 - Now power off your phone.
Step 6 - Hold down Power, Volume up and Home to enter recovery mode.
Step 7 - Now you should be presented with some nasty looking words, don't worry this is totally normal! Use your Volume down button to scroll down to "apply update from sdcard" and then press the Home button to confirm.
Step 8 - Again, using your volume controls scroll down to your root.zip file and press the home button
Step 9 - All being well you should get a message saying "Phone Rooted!"
Step 10 - Using your home button press "Reboot system now".
Step 11 - Check if root is installed successfully using an app from the google play store called "Root Checker". All being well you should have a rooted device! If your phone gets stuck on the samsung logo during the initial reboot wait 5-10 mins and if it is still stuck refer to "Unbricking a device".
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Adding Custom recovery to your device
So now your device is rooted your gonna want some kind of custom recovery to replace the old one, for this I am going to use Clockwork Recovery (aka CWM)
Step 1 - Turn your phone on if it's currently off
Step 2 - Connect your device to your PC as mentioned before.
Step 3 - Download "ClockWorkRec_S5830C-i-M.zip" (below)
Step 4 - Copy this file over to your device.
Step 5 - Turn off your device.
Step 6 - Boot into recovery mode using the button combination Power, Volume Up and Home.
Step 7 - Again, using your volume keys scroll down to "install zip from sdcard"
Step 8 - Find ClockWorkRec.zip and click it using the home button.
Step 9 - It should now start the short process of installing CWM.
Step 10 - All being well you should be presented with a yellow screen with ClockworkMod Recovery written at the top.
Side note - On my device every time I boot into recovery I have to reinstall CWM, this isn't a major issue but if it's the same for everyone, one that may need looking into!
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Unbricking a device
So after installing CWM I find this is the most common time things go wrong. Provided you followed the instructions nothing should have gone wrong however there's always a chance. Alternatively you could have done everything right and just a ROM or something happened to screw up your device. Don't panic! All you will need to fix this is a computer and a usb cable
Step 1 - Install the following files from below - "S5830IDXMB1_OLBLD1.rar" "16_Shrewsbury.rar" and "Odin3-v1.85.zip"
Step 2 - Extract all these into somewhere sensible in your PC.
Step 3 (Pre checks) - Power your phone into download mode using Power, Volume Up and Volume down. Then when the screen comes on, press Volume Up again.
Step 3 - Open the folder now hosting odin and double click on the .exe file.
FOLLOW THE NEXT FEW STEPS VERY CAREFULLY
Step 4 - Boot up odin. Provided everything is working the ID:COM box should go some kind of color (other than white) and have something like "0:[COM4]" being displayed.
Step 5 - This is the important bit. Click "Bootloader". Now find the folder you extracted to before and click on "S5830IDXMB1_OLBLD1/ BOOT_S5830iDXMB1_REV00.tar.md5"
Step 6 - Now click on "PDA" and select "S5830IDXMB1_OLBLD1/ PDA_S5830iDXMB1_REV00.tar.md5"
Step 7 - Now select "Phone" and choose "S5830IDXMB1_OLBLD1/ MODEM_S5830iDXMB1_REV00.tar.md5"
Step 8 - Finally choose "CSC" and pick "S5830IDXMB1_OLBLD1/ GT-S5830i-MULTI-CSC-OLBLD1.tar.md5"
Step 9 - Make sure that your odin now looks like this -
Step 10 - All being the same, click "Start"
Step 11 - Hold your breath and with some luck it should finally say "PASS!"
Step 12 - Reboot your phone and it will be good as new.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Adding Custom ROM's to your device
In this tutorial I am going to be using to of my favourite (and working!) custom ROM's. These are simplicity and a lollipop firmware update.
Step 1 - Turn on your phone again
Step 2 - Download your chosen ROM of choose below.
Step 3 - Transfer the zip file to your device.
Step 4 - Power down your device.
Step 5 - Enter recovery mode using the keys Power, Volume Up and Home
Step 6 (Optional) - Re-install CWM if not already installed
Step 7 - Make a nandroid backup by scrolling to "backup and restore" and clicking backup.
Step 8 - Go back to the main homepage and scroll down to "wipe cache partition".
Step 9 - Go back to the main homepage again and this time go to "advanced" and then "Wipe Dalvik Cache"
Step 10 - Finally go back to the homepage and click on "install zip from sdcard"
Step 11 - Choose your chosen zip of the ROM
Step 12 - Wait until finished then repeat steps 8 and 9 before rebooting the system.
Step 13 - All being well you should now have a Custom ROM installed on your device. If your device gets stuck in a bootloop this could be because of a faulty ROM and you should go back to "Unbricking a device".

I know this may not be a popular thread anymore, however, Google says there's a virus detected and won't allow dowbload of the ROOT-S5830C-i-M.zip file.
Google detects 'virus' patterns in many root applications, guess they are very similar to real virus files.
If you download all files together (or the folder) download is possible.
Or make a copy to your own gdrive to download this file.
Sigh, I hope I'm not spamming the forums, but they seem to be inactive and I can't seem to find a solution...
My phone's usb port is aparently damaged. When connected to my computer, it will only charge, with no response whatsoever from the computer.
This by itself represent no problem, as I can just use the SD card for file transfers, but now I need Odin, but without USB it woun't work (evidently).
There is some app like FlashFire that works with S5830i?
Hey, what is the current state of your phone (rooted, unrooted, bricked, etc.) and also what is it your aiming to achieve?

How to install CWM recovery using computer [GUIDE] [L3]

If you are having trouble with the google play store "Rom manager" app installing CWM recovery on your L3 then hopefully following this guide will help you.
Around 2019 the servers for the rom manager app were still working for the l3, I know this because I actually installed CWM on my l3 that year without issues concerning the server connections. After 2019 though I think that the servers got shut down at least for the l3. I remember vaguely that in 2020 I tried the app and couldn't get it to work to install CWM. The method that I will describe below includes a CWM img that was backed up when I needed to restore my phone back in 2019. Idk though, I might be wrong about the whole thing and you can still use the app.
This should also work if you aren't rooted and this guide assumes that you are on stock.
Prerequisites:
Make sure that your phone is charged and you have a usb cable.
--------
Installing CWM recovery for LG l3
1. Download and install the LG drivers for this phone here (drive link). If you already have drivers for this phone then skip this step.
2. Download Android AIO Flasher here (XDA post)
3. Download the CWM img file here (drive link)
4. Connect up phone to the PC using the USB cable.
4. Enable USB debugging on your phone. This can be done by opening:
Settings --> Applications --> Development --> USB debugging
5. Extract and open up the Android AIO flasher tool and click on the dropdown menu in the center that says "Reboot Menu".
6. Select "Fastboot mode' under the dropdown menu and click on "Reboot".
7. The phone should now boot into Fastboot mode. The fastboot screen should have a bunch of white text on black background.
8. In the Android AIO Flasher tool, select "Recovery" under the "Fastboot flasher" section at the top left of the screen.
9. Click on "Select file" under the "Fastboot flasher section and find the CWM recovery file that you downloaded earlier. Select the file and click "Open".
10. Finally, click on the big "Flash" button in the Fastboot flasher section. Everything is good once the box at the bottom of the tool says "OKAY xxx sec".
11. Unplug your phone and take out the battery (don't worry this won't harm anything in my personal experience).
You are now done installing!
Booting into CWM recovery
1. Turn off device
2. Hold buttons:
Home - Volume up - Power
3. Once the phone vibrates, release all buttons. Your L3 should now boot into CWM recovery
--------------
Note: If you know the commands for the adb fastboot command line then you can use that rather than using the AIO tool
Please tell me if there is anything that I could improve with the guide
