Do custom roms invalidate the warranty? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
after all the fuss about the nexus one warranty being broken by unlocking the device, does anyone know if Samsung's warranty is affected by installing a custom rom?
I did see a mention of it in one of the threads here, but the gist was basically if you flash an official firmware back on the phone, they won't know.
Does anyone know if this is true?
I don't want to go do something stupid to my new phone, and realise later I can't get it fixed.
Loving the screen on this device, and in person, it doesn't look as much like an iphone as I'd feared.

Both are true. If you flash a Rom you void your warranty but if you flash a stock ROM back they won't know the difference

hope this is true, and its one of the reason i gave up on NexusOne.

The only easy way to do a backup of your rom just to use titanium backup. You might be able to make a dump of your current state but that would involve adb and working on getting that dump into an odin file structure. There is no nandroid like service yet.

why don't you update via kies? it updated my 2.2.1 to 2.3.5 without any complains and it was really fast and easy.
And uninstalling/installing a program will not make samsung mad that they brick your phone for it, so no worries mate.

[Q] Unrooting T-Mobile Galaxy Tab SGH T849

Hi,
I purchased a T-mobile galaxy tab in US. I want to root it now. But before rooting, is there a way to take a back up stock rom so that I can reflash it if required?
Also, let me know the steps for unrooting and reflashing stock rom for claiming warranty.

This is a question that would be better directed at HTC. Sofar, HTC hasn't released any RUUs for this phone. Maybe they will, maybe they won't, we have no way of knowing in advance.
However, there is a dump of the stock ROM and the stock recovery available over in the Android Development section which should be enough for you to return to stock; there's not much point in flashing anything else on this phone (and you most probably won't even be able to).

Retrieve Deleted Apps

After I rooted the phone I deleted some blotware. Now I am having problems with the phone freezing. Is there a way to recover the delete apps?
You can always restore your backup. Unless you didn't create a backup before you went and deleted everything. That's a noob thing not to do.
Your best bet is to follow the "return to stock" tutorial. It's in the sticky threads.
Or wait for the next update to roll out.

He's not your bro, dude.
//please excuse the internet reference if you dont get it
Jokes aside, a stock rooted ROM allows you to do just that, only there's less hassle. Even though it's. a rooted ROM, it will behave exactly the same as stock Sense unless you want to install root apps. Please please please don't RUU to stock. Just use the Stock ROM and save yourself some trouble.
