apns-conf.xml doesn't work in Galaxy S? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
Anyone knows how could i get the apns-conf.xml to work in Galaxy S, instead of using of the CSC folder that comes with it?
It seemed like Samsung had somehow disabled the use of this file for the auto configuration of APN settings for carriers with its CSC system at /system/csc.
Are there anyways that apns-conf.xml could be revived so it can be used again?
Thanks!

Can't set APN after swapping SIM card.

Hi all, after swapping out the SIM card in my galaxy tab, I am not able to enter and save a new APN. I can enter the information but it won't allow me to save it. Even after re-inserting the origanal SIM, I cannot save any APN 's. Only after a full wipe and reboot does the ability to save APN's return. Does anyone know why this is happening? Any solution to this?
Thanks,
Alex.

a wipe/factory reset would do but you need to backup first. alternatively download APN Manager from the Market, set from there. it works for my tab!
Thanks, found out that market enabler was affecting the APN Settings!

hosts file being ignored

Hi everyone,
Just got an i9295. It's rooted and I'm using xposed framework to get some additional functionality that I'm missing from aokp.
But I've noticed that my active ignores my custom hosts file.
I've tried searching but my Google fu doesn't seem during enough to find anyone else having the same problem with either the active or the "normal" s4.
Can anyone offer a suggestion as to what I can do?
I'm placing my hosts file in /etc/hosts with permissions set to rwxrwxrwx
The same file worked previously on aokp on a galaxy nexus.
Thanks in advance =)
Never mind...
I fixed it.
I re encoded the file with Unix-like line terminators.
It works now.

[Q] apns-conf.xml not working [how to have auto apn setting?]

Hi again, an other dumb question
1-So, after i bought this phone i used for a few weeks a vodafone simcard and everything was working (datas, etc). Kind of automatic configuration of apn settings from vodafone ?
2-Back at home (i was travelling in an other country), i put my local simcard and ... no datas. No automatic apns configuration from my provider ? (Comfiguring manually the apn in settings it works but I'd like to have it done automaticaly)
3-On my ex Moto Atrix (Gingerbread !) I was using apns-conf.xml and it was working perfect even when switching of provider
4-So I put an apns-conf.xml on my new xperia and ... nothing (even after deleting telephony databases in /data and reboot)
5-I downloaded a custom rom (existenz) to see how was the apns-conf.xml and it is empty. I was surprised as this rom must work for everyone in the world.
So:
- apns-conf.xml does not work anymore in android 4.3 ?
- what to do to have an automatic apn configuration ??
Thanks
Ok, it's possible in Settings/Xperia/Download internet settings
So I imagine apns-conf.xml does not work anymore on Android 4.3 or does not work with Xperia roms.

How to enable haptic feedback on S5 Mini running official Lolipop?

There's no feature in sounds or anywhere in settings. Also if I need device rooted to do that, please let me link to how to vid, as I've never done that.
As far as I kbow, if you have a G800F device you can do it using a custom kernel:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5-mini/orig-development/kernel-custom-kernel-t3130662
For other models, probably using an Xposed module. Both need root.
Damn. I don't get it, why the f they removed it from settings after kitkat...
tried to activate in H with build.prop, and all the vibration was gone
Use SQLite editor. There is a database in package Settings storage named settings.db, find hapic_feedback_enabled name in system category and change the value from 0 to 1 then restart the phone. I think this will help ))

hosts file modification or replacement on Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Verizon

I am a user of Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and it has Verizon issued OS version 10. I have a situation that requires that the hosts files be changed or uploaded using ADB. My phone is not rooted and there may not be a way to root the phone. What may be my option to upload the modified hosts file on /system/etc/ directory?
As an alternative can someone suggest an app which may accomplish the similar task to filter out websites?
Thanks.
Hem
Temporarily root Android and all will work.
