On Behalf almost all of the Incredible users I say THANK YOU!

I am happy to have this right now as it appears I need to nab the OTA and reroot to avoid nag msg every 15 mins. I am sad that it was forced out by someone leaking info and files. I guess use it why we can before its patched in a week or 2.
Thank you VERY much for all the hard work placed in this and all of UnrEVOked's projects. It is VERY appreciated by many.

Im stuck on it asking for su support/permission.

great job. im glad to see this hit before i get my incredible. i didnt want to deal with that stupid SDcard timing bs

Thank You unrevoked. I am truely sorry that any of you who work so hard to bring all that you do to so many for free have to deal with some of the things I read on these forums.
I read the forums mostly these days but I have been around many years and involved in many things over this time. Some things remain the same! There are always some who pride themselves on ruining things for others. I guess this is just the way it goes.
The only thing I think I'd like to say to you all is there are many, myself included that do appricate you all and enjoy the fun you bring to so many. Chins up cause there are alot more of us than there are of the few.
in closing.. thank you for ALL you do for me and everyone else

Thanks man! NVM I found it!

This is awesome! I already had root, but used it to update recovery.
I did have to use sudo in Ubuntu (sudo ./reflash), just like the tool said I might have to.

Thank's unrEVOked. Your hard work and dedication is much appreciated.

Thank you so much!

Team Unrevoked,
Thanks so much for all of your hard work! It is very much appreciated!
Edit: I'm going to try it through my mac (to avoid the drivers) but want to make sure I have all the settingd correct. USB debugging on. Set phone to charge only. Anything else we need to set prior to using this?

What is it supposed to do once it gets into HBOOT?

I'm stuck
I have pretty much no knowledge of rooting so I am following the unrevoked guide. I only just started and when I go through the device manager I don't see android 1.0 like the guide says in order to install the hboot drivers..

just let it run through, it will do everything on its own and you will end up at the recovery screen when it is done, and the tool on your desktop will say done.

Ok I'll just leave it. how long does it take? I do see android 1.0 in my device manager.

you made sure that usb debugging is enabled? settings>applications>developement
if so, power off device hold vol down then press the power button, it will detect the phone and install drivers. once drivers are installed, reboot phone then try the tool.

it shouldn't take very long, if it shows up as android 1.0 you need to have windows install the drivers, it should do it automatically but you may have to point it to the right ones.

[GUIDE] One Click How to Root the Incredible with Unrevoked 3.21

I first want to thank everyone at UnrEVOked for what they've done. I'm posting this because the UnrEVOked post doesn't really give any instructions. Its an easy enough root, but I know I've been there before and even the simplest things can be tough if things aren't laid out. So here's a step by step tutorial.
Due to some bugs, Unrevoked 3.2 was taken down shortly after being released, but the updated version is now LIVE! So obviously we're going to bring you a video tutorial on how to do it! Thanks to the guys at Unrevoked for giving us this simple solution to rooting the Droid Incredible.
LINK TO VIDEO WALKTHROUGH FOR HOW TO ROOT THE DROID INCREDIBLE
◄●REQUIRED DOWNLOADS●►
EVERYONE: Unrevoked3. Download the version for your OS.
WINDOWS USERS: unrEVOked modified USB driver
◄●How to Install HBOOT Drivers (Windows Users ONLY)●►
If you're using Windows, you're going to have to install the HBOOT drivers first. You can follow this video tutorial:
How to Install HBOOT Drivers
and follow along with these written instructions provided by the Unrevoked team:
Download the unrEVOked modified USB driver and expand it somewhere you will remember.
Turn off your phone, then boot it into the HBOOT menu by holding power and volume down.
On your phone, you will have to select HBOOT USB at that menu by pressing volume down four times, then power. Wait until the screen flashes through an “SD Checking” message before pressing buttons; otherwise, the phone will ignore keypresses.
Connect the phone to your Windows machine with a USB cable and wait for the phone to say HBOOT USB PLUG on screen.
Open Device Manager.
Click Start, then right click on Computer, then click Properties, then click Device Manager.
Under Other devices, you should now see the Android 1.0 device.
Right click on Android 1.0 and click Update Driver Software:
Click on Browse my computer for driver software.
Click on Browse and select the Android USB Driver folder on on your computer, click ok, then click next.
You should get a status bar indicating that the driver is installing. If you get any warnings, just click Ok.
Your driver should install.
Click Close and make sure Android Bootloader Interface is listed under Android Phone.
◄●Instructions●►
Make sure you downloaded Unrevoked3 for your OS.
If you're on Windows, make sure you "uninstall HTC Sync or any other program that might talk to the phone over USB (doubletwist, etc). They will cause problems" (Unrevoked.com).
Plug your phone into your computer with USB.
Drag down from the notification bar on your phone and select "Charge Only" and "Remember this"
Make sure your phone has USB Debugging turned on by going to Menu>>Settings>>Applications>>Development and checking USB debugging.
Run the Reflash application that you downloaded.
Unrevoked will run its processes. Follow the few instructions it gives and thats it!
You're now rooted!
PS - Others have asked elsewhere if it flashes a custom recovery. Yes, it flashes Clockwork
Be sure to wait for S-OFF to install before unplugging phone!

Thanks for reporting that
thanks, one question, maybe more later.
after this is done, then what. do i really need to do anything else. is this where the fun begins, like i really only want to remove the bloatware. but if i want, can i just leave it rooted and do nothing with it. i am a total noobie and even this "one click" thing has me scared and confused. thanks for the post.
Once you're done, you can remove bloatware. And yes, if you so choose, you can do nothing at all

[PROGRAM] Bay_wolf's ROM Installer and Recovery App

New Program which makes this obsolete.
Link
Bay_wolf's ROM Installer:
This is just an intial release but should be fairly bug free. One known bug is that in Windows 7 (possibly Vista), sometimes after finishing the application it asks if the program installed successfully. Just press that it did successfully install and it'll go away. Just for safety on my behalf: I'm distributing this program as-is and no guarantee that it will not hurt your phone. So, use at your own risk and don't blame me for bricking your phone.
Now that the legal (save my butt) stuff is out of the way...
Before Using this program, backup using Titanium Backup if you so desire.
To use this program you need to:
Be on the stock Captivate ROM or have flashed back to it using ODIN. This most likely will not work with Captivates running Froyo.
Enable USB debugging mode- Go to settings> Applications> Development> And then check the box next to USB debugging.
Have the USB drivers for the Captivate installed on your computer. You can get them here.
Have the ROM of your desire downloaded to your hard drive.
Know a little bit about flashing and ROMs.
And that's about it. Most of the instructions are given to you by the program and are not needed to be written out here. If you find any part confusing, please comment in this thread and I'll try to implement it in the next release and I'll tell you what it means as a temporary solution.
Download: ROM Installer 1.1
Bay_wolf's Recovery App:
Also included here is an app that's just designed to reboot your phone into recovery mode. It's great for not having to press buttons after flashing to stock. Just make sure your phone is plugged in and not mounted and it'll reboot you into recovery mode when you open the program. This can be used with any Captivate and possibly more phones (can't test that as I don't have any other ones).
Download: Recovery App 1.0
Donations are appreciated if you found this program helpful:

If anyone has any questions on how to s-off, root, and flash the Virtuous Unity 1.27.

Hey there, I flashed my IS into a sense 3.0 gingerbread 2.3 ROM. It took me 3 days LMAO
I know that when I was doing it I needed all the help I could get.
If anyone wants to know how I did it to help you on your way than reply.
I will be happy to help.
Please note that I only know how to do what "I" did. I am not an expert in any way..and only know how to help with getting the **Virtuous Unity 1.27.0 Sense 3.0 based on Pyramid** onto your phone.
Happy Flashing!!! I am very happy with this ROM ... It is the best one out there taken from the official shipping release of HTC.

Ah, but how do you know it's the best one if it's the only one you've used?
Because it has many good reviews. It its the best one in terms of getting the sense 3.0 and gingerbread 2.3. Which is what the new HTC Sensation has. Also it is a shippping release which pretty much means that it is the real deal.
Ok, for reference, what did you do. Already S OFF and rooted. Does the new MOD have better battery performance?
I am on my way to work as of now and will copy and paste what I had done later. I am noticing right now that the battery is not the most optimal. But we will see. I flashed virtuous unity BTW. Sense 3.0 with 2.3 gingerbread

You need to S-OFF your phone (otherwise it wont work) This is the first step:
(1) GoHere...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XshvRmAcgm8 This is an awesome youtube video of how to S-OFF with AlpharevX
** After that you need to install the CWM recovery but first (instead of looking at alpharevX's difficult instruction) Do THIS:
(2) Go here(easy step)
This will give you instructions on downloading a Flasher. What that does is flash certain things onto your device while its plugged in.
**Once you have downloaded that, go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=14693680 (only download the recovery image for Incredible S)
It is the 3rd step I do believe.
When you are done downloading it. Go into the file and grab the file called recovery (image file) and drag it to your "downloads" folder.
**Open up Android Flash 1.8 and plug in your device. Click on Recovery on the left hand side. It will prompt you to a folder (it wants you to open the Recovery image file I told you to place in "downloads") Either way....find that file!!
Click on the file and Android flasher will do the rest.
Im pretty sure it boots your screen for you but if it doesnt
YOU NOW HAVE CLOCKWORKMODE RECOVERY
To see if you successfully downloaded it:
** Power down your phone
**Press and hold the DOWN volume and POWER button
**Move the volume up and down keys to select "RECOVERY" it is second down I do believe
**Press the POWER button to select "Recovery"
**You will now be prompted to a screen witch is CMW recovery.
After that go to the "reboot" option.
(3) To ROOT your phone(last step)
Go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=14693680
Just follow thier instructions. Its pretty easy!
After that you will want to download this recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1104765 It works the best with the flashing ROMS. If you feel comfortable downloading this recovery first than it is up to you. Like I said I downloaded the clockworkmode recovery first so that I can get the phone rooted via AlphaRev's instructions. Any questions???

So flashing the actual ROM wasn't a problem? I take it you don't have to S OFF the radio in order to flash a new radio with this ROM to get the best out of it?

No flashing the ROM isnt the problem. If you have to get a radio for the ROM than that is apparently the most trickiest part. Please do it with caution and read instructions carefully. You need to S-OFF to get a ROM...and I am pretty sure you need to ROOT to get a rom aswell. Sorry about the links..I have no idea why they are broken. I will try to find them.

If you like the stock ROM then I suggest Android Revolution HD. It's built from the IS stock release but with bloatware removed, optimised for better battery life and more customisable. Virtuous Unity ROM gets you Sense 3.0, but that comes with higher power demands thanks to all the extra fancy graphics and such.
Oh, and for reference, you don't necessarily need radio S-OFF to flash a new radio, but you do need to do it carefully as you can brick your phone if you don't follow the correct process exactly.
Thanks. I have been undecided on weather or not to flash ARHD. When you say carefully, do you mean following the his flashing procedure step by step, or are you refering to flashing the radio? Obviously want to flash the radio to get the most out of the ROM.
Yeah I mean follow instructions carefully. What I used was ask. Its not too difficult but you have to read. Go and Google sdk. Download it, u are going to have to retrieve your drivers for ur phone. But just follow the instructions on downloading sdk etc... I will put up a link of where I got it from. You just have to follow instructions that's all..and yes the radio is needed if you are upgrading to gingerbread when flashing a new rom.

tl;dr.
If you post my work without permission, don't expect updates!
I created an easy to use GUI program for the HTC Amaze and I decided to make one for the HTC First. I spent a good over 10+ hours to learn how to script, watch videos on how to do it, working on it during school when I should have been listening lol and all that fun stuff. Looking to add in the future
- Kernels
- More recoveries
- Makes Requests!!!
FAQs
Q - Why Did you make this?
A - To make life easier
Q - You are limited on features. Why?
A- You can always make a request!
Q - Will this work on other devices?
A - Only the fastboot commands, HTC Dev unlock (device specific) and the HTC drivers. Toolkit is made for the specific device.
Q - Will you support more devices in the future?
A - If people REALLY want, I can make it happen. I just don't want to make anything that nobody would use.
Q - Awesome! Can I make a donation?
A - Of course! Do not feel obligated though. If you would like to make a donation, you can click the button on my toolkit or under my username.
Nice! Thanks Hasoon!
Love seeing a noob-proof option for a custom recovery and root for the First.
just spitballing for ur one and only bug, why don't u use quotes so multi-worded folders work.. like "C:\Imma folder in an unusual place"

I really should stop using dev host. It's down every other day. If I can get another file hoster with ftp support, that would be awesome

So there's an OTA out there (19.8MB, nothing big), but when it rebooted to update, it got stuck in CWM and I couldn't flash it there. I intended to pull the zip so we could make it flashable (and by "we", I mean someone more skilled than I), but I don't see it on the phone when it's plugged in, and when I check Software Update again, it says no update is available.
I'm well aware that flashing the OTA will likely kill root for me, but at this point, I don't really care. I'm hoping this OTA fixes the few bugs I'm having with the phone, and that's more than worth losing root over for me.
EDIT:
Posted the update in the development forum.

I will make it flashable soon. I pulled the ota off my device. I just need to go back to stock. I will work on it tomorrow
Oh, I took a peek at it and it just seems like it's video type of update. Just updating a bunch of libs. I haven't checked to see if new firmware is in it yet

The DL is working again.:good:
Well, I'm no noob when it comes to working with HTC devices as I successfully unlocked the bootloader and rooted my One X with no problems back in the day. However, I'm running into a problem with the HTC First. I have unlocked the bootloader, and I am attempting to use the Toolkit to install a custom recovery. Unfortunately, when I try to do so, it gives me the following text:
'C:\Documents' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\First_All-In-One_Kit_v1.0\data>
After that it just hangs there and doesn't do anything. I'm not quite sure why it's doing that, nor do I understand why it's trying to access a non-existent folder in C:\
Any insight would be much appreciated.

Thanks for responding. I couldn't quite figure it out so I ended up ditching the tool-kit method and manually flashing it through command prompt.

I read all the posts before hand. I wasnt convinced that it was the same thing because mine didnt show Users/John as your example did. My computers username is Admin yet when I ran the toolkit it showed it was trying to access Documents which is a non-existent folder on my desktop. That's what I didnt understsnd.

adb won't recognize my phone. I use the toolkit to install the HTC drivers, but when I run the first script it get a "device not found message"
I'll try this on my laptop, see if it makes a difference. I have rooted many phones with this computer: Xperia X8, Xperia Sola, Atrix 4G, Atrix 2 and adb has always shown something when I run "adv devices" command.
I'm open to suggestions though! I'm running windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, in case this information in useful.

Older/Previous Releases
Please note that the file above does not include Google apps, such as Gmail, YouTube, or the Google Play Store. You will have to install those manually, just make sure they are compatible with Android 5.1.
Sweet! How do I install it?
Well, that depends on one thing. Are you S-OFF or S-ON?
If you don't know what this means, then you're S-ON.
If you're S-ON
1. Download the ROM zip to your computer.
2. Extract the "boot.img" from the zip file.
3. Put the zip file on your device and flash it in TWRP.
4. Reboot the device to fastboot mode and, on your computer, flash the boot image you extracted to your device by issuing the command "fastboot flash boot boot.img"
5. Reboot normally
If you're S-OFF
1. Place the zip on your device and flash in TWRP
2. Reboot normally

No problem.
I added another disclaimer to the OP, basically saying that it's not quite daily-driver material yet, just in case anyone decided to skip over the issues list.

Appreciate your work man. you're a 16 yr. old badass in my book.
Prepare yourself though for lots of headaches from the many many users who just wont take the time to read your instructions. Never seen anything like it during my time here on XDA.
What you have done so far is remarkable (you too Mr. Mike) I can wait for stabilization if it comes, if not no biggie. You'll never hear a complaint from me bro.
You need anything, just ask. I'm available to those who are serious like yourself (you too Mr. Mike )
Anyways, thanks buddy. For everything.

Thanks! This is actually further than I initially envisioned myself making it. It's fun to do this type of stuff actually. I bought my 510 off-contract and never activated it, with the intent of just doing this stuff to it.

Love the progress. This rom is awesome. I have two HTC Desire 510's. After reading the "Not Working Section" I realized that data doesn't work on virgin mobile just yet. So, I will re-install this rom on my non activated one and follow your progress until calls, messaging and camera works. Then, I will install it on my activated one. But, thumbs up my friend. You beat MIUI to the punch in getting a modern rom started for this device. They still work on dinosaur HTC device roms. LOL!!
when will this be stable this rom looks awesome keep up the good work
Man r3pwn killin it!! Amazing work my dude mad props too! Goin test this out later on my vm desire, thanks r3pwn!

I must have done something wrong when installing. LOL!! I'm not an expert at flashing. So I don't doubt that I did something wrong. Ok, i'm gonna go back and retrace my steps on the flash and make sure I didn't miss any steps. Wait, I think I did. Is the boot image that needs to be extracted from the zip for those of us who are still s-on does that mean it needs to be completely out of the zip and then flashed in fastboot? If so, that is were I messed up at. And when whipping, do we factory whip or advance whip? Just wanna make sure. If I can at least get calls and text working, I'll be fine.

You can leave the zip as it is, you just have to make sure that you flash the boot image in fastboot. When I wipe, I usually pick "Advanced Wioe" and wipe system, data, cache, dalvik-cache and sometimes even internal storage.
will this work with boost mobile ?? i 1.
5. Reboot normally that all went great ! but cant - Call , Text ,

Hey, you are doing fine. No complaints here. I know from experience that it takes time to get these roms fully running. Plus, I'd rather you be in good spirit while working on this masterpiece. :fingers-crossed::victory:
