HTC 1.5 Audio Issues/Reports

I just upgraded my ADP1 to the official HTC 1.5 release.
Did radio and recovery image. Bluetooth stereo now works perfectly - no pairing issues, good sound, etc. I paired to a Philips table radio that has Bluetooth.
However, it no longer recognizes a *wired* audio device. I have the official HTC breakout adapter (the rectangular box) with a 3.5mm plug connected. I use this with headphones, a cassette adapter, and PC speakers. It worked with 1.1, but now sound continues to come out the internal speaker when this is connected.
Also, some users had reports on either no sound out the internal speaker, or louder sound, so I though I would start this thread for sound specific issues.
Some of these massive threads are just too hard to find data in. (and I did search.)

Did you wipe by chance...?
It seems many bugs are due to the need to wipe.

If you're refering to this (pictured below), then yes, it no longer works for me as well. I'm not complaining though because I don't need it anymore. I can stream my music through my car stereo bluetooth and still be able to charge at the same time. The adapter with mic that came with the G1 still works though.
By the way, I don't have any speaker volume issue like how I did with Dude's build. It's always loud now. Make sure you wipe before updating.

Yes. Meant to include that. I wiped between the radio install and the system image install. Not sure if that is the best way. So it may have seen 1.1 again since the wipe. Thanks for pointing this out. I'll wipe again, and see what happens.

Yes. That is what I have. I also have a 3.5mm adapter that I made out of the headset that was included with the ADP1, and I have a dock with audio, but those two are at home. I'll have to try them later.

Just wiped again. Still does not work.
AFAIK, there is not a chip in these adapters/headsets like in some other phones. So it looks to me like no wired headphones will work for music. This looks like a pretty serious bug.
While I'd love to have a BT stereo in my car, I am not likely to run out and buy one any time soon.

Just tried it and it works for me.
I plugged in the wired headphone that came with my g1 and it worked fine.
I also have the htc 2 usb port adapter and that works as well. Music is sent to the headphones. I also have the usb charger connected to the 2nd port and its charging the phone while sending music to the headphones.

OK, it looks like just this one adapter does not work. Interesting since it did work, and is genuine HTC.
I'll try to crack one open, and see how it is wired. This may be due to the fact that this adapter has both the 3.5mm jack, and the HTC ext USB.
If I can come up with a HW mod (perhaps at the expense of the replicated ext USB connector), I'll post it.

yeah could be an issue with the 3.5mm jack, as my adapter doesn't include that.

Wait a minute. If that adapter does not have a 3.5mm jack, then the question remains if it works with any ext USB --> 3.5mm Adapter.
In short, is it ignoring pin 4 (Headset connected)?

My g1 came with an ext usb -> 3.5mm adapter and that works fine with 1.5.

I have confirmed that it is just the square HTC adapter as pictured in the 3rd post in this thread that does not work. If you plug another type of headset or headset adapter into the ext USB headset, it will start working, and continue to work even after the 2nd headset or adapter is removed.
I have managed to open one of mine, and I will look at it.
I also have the Azmer dock (pictured below), and it seems to work fine - e.g. the sound only switches to external when a 3.5mm plug is actually connected.

If I recall correctly, the device you've pictured above contains a 2.5mm headset jack, not a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Nope, has a 3.5mm jack I use it with my Sennheiser MX560 earphones.

Try wiping then updating again. I only had the sound problem in dudes build but the official htc release works flawlessly

Anyone who has found a solution already? Would really like to be able to use my earphones...

I had Dude cupcake when my speaker volume stopped working, it stays at the lowest volume no matter what. I wiped and changed the Rom to 2 different others to try to fix it, the new dude 1.2 and google ion, and still no volume, any idea what i can do?

best way to hook up to play media through car speakers?

All the forums don't really point to a good solution, lots of unanswered questions so I was just wondering if anyone has had any success yet with this?
I have 2 auxiliary and a 3.5 jack. I just bought a car and am looking for a viable solution. I just want to play music through the speakers. (I thought I had usb somewhere..but can't seem to find it yet).
Also has anyone tried just a external drive with mp3's on it? that would be ideal..

In theory, playing through the 3.5mm jack from the phone > In-dash reciever would be the best.
Although, my buddy has a iTouch, and plays through USB and its sounds nice on his Infinity Kappas and Polks.
Don't use the FM Transmitter, never good results imo

Ya I tried playing earlier through it and for some reason it kept skipping/stopping/playing. it was weird... I'm not sure i want to buy the car dock/charger if I can't get the music to play through. I didn't try a different player though, just the stock app.

i just use a cassette that has a wire sticking out of it and plug that into the headphone jack. works perfect. works on phone calls too.
for you, just get an aux wire that's 3.5mm male on both ends, that should work.

Ya I'm not sure what's up with it. It just worked today, but didn't work so well the other day. I'll probably just get a used mp3 player and store it in the car, hidden of course. It has a power outlet next to the hidden aux jack, so that's convenient.

You could always get an FM tuner that plugs into the lighter. I do hear that quality is not the best going that route.

I have an FM transmitter because my car doesn't have a tape player. It works OK, sometimes its a little bad quality but it gets the job done. If you have a tape player definitely just get the cassette adapter to 3.5mm

I have tried using the headphone jack to my line in on my head-unit. I have to use a groundloop isolator to clean up the signal interference from my alternator and the speakerphone part works okay.
I have and use this most of the time Jabra Cruiser It is very clear and for music and phone. When playing mp3s it also transmits the RDS info to the head-unit.
One of my buddies uses this GOgroove Flexsmart X2 and has great success using the Bluetooth to FM.
Both are great BT to FM devices.

The hard wired 3.5 or aux inputs are your best bet for sound quality

I know at this point my reply may be a little late....I don't know too much about dev but I can keep my head afloat with car audio ^.^ so considering your available options, 3.5 to 3.5 will be your best option for sound quality, followed closely by an auxiliary to 3.5 cable. FM transmitters are never a good way to go. This is attributed to the amount of signal loss that occurs when the sound is turned into electromagnetic waves to be transferred. Plus FM opens the door for a lot of outside interference. I personally don't know if incredible are capable of doing usb output for sound, and I understand that you don't have a usb input, but this is by far the best way to go. You can pick up a stereo with usb input for cheap, and they're very easy to install. If you're smart enough to keep up with some if the discussions on xda, I'm sure you can match up some wire colors! minimal signal loss occurs when using usb, much less than even the loss due to 3.5-3.5. If you ever have an extra 50-100 bucks, grab a usb stereo and slap it in. Always the best way to go. And to the question about a straight drive with mp3's, that method would be pretty much identical to usb input. Now, if your vehicle still has its stock speakers and you haven't put any aftermarket parts in it, you probably won't notice the difference between usb and 3.5. If you have done work and have put even a small amount of work into your speakers, you will definitely notice it. I bought a Clarion CZ500 and the Bluetooth streaming works great. I also tried to connect my DInc to the USB port but it could not find my music. My guess is that it gets confused because two drives show up when you plug a DInc into USB.

If there is only an input for "external" or Cd changer" (RCA) do the following.

2. Don't buy a Ground Loop Isolator, they're bulky and IMO a waste of money. Instead get a cable that has the nose reducing feature built into it. I highly recommend the following pictured cable. I personally use it on a daily basis.
(Plug#2)
3. Plug the RCA male ends into the rear of your stereo.
4a. Connect plug #1 &#2 into the end's of each other.
Note: Plug#2 has the noise filter closer to one end than the other. You'll want to plug the short end into plug#1.
4b. Use electrical tape to secure the connection between 1&2.
5. Run plug#2 towards the front of the dash.
6. Enjoy a MP4 copy of a movie or some music.

@dmadrid98....out of curiosity, why would you want to use multiple plugs when you can buy simple noise reducing rca to 3.5 plugs? Doesn't make much sense to add in yet another joint for signal loss

Good point, I was just stating what my preference was because I use the same audio cable in my Semi-Truck & Personal Vehicle.

IMO best bet is to get a iPod ready Head unit that can control an ipod and an iPOD hook em all up you can crontrol your music stright from your head unit and sound output is as good as the recording.

All this makes me so glad I bought a Bt enabled car stereo, with the seperate
input setting for phone and media.

My phone gets used a lot in the car for its media. My setup consists of my phone charger, a simple 3.5 male/male audio cord, and sometimes I put it in my car cradle. Can't get better than a direct audio out from the phone, to aux in on the stereo.

The hard wired 3.5 is your best bet

Been addressing this myself. For simplest integration, 3.5mm to aux input on your factory radio is the best/easiest way to go.
If your car doesn't have an aux input, there is a company named PAC that makes auxiliary inputs for most factory radios. It allows 3.5mm or rca inputs.
With the Incredible, you can use the tv-out cable to the rca's, but you'll need to short the connection on the video rca to enable tv-out on the incredible. (Provided how you mount it) you have a single plug charge and play solution.
I'm working on an implementation of this in my car, and have confirmed the tv-out works, just got to get the dock fabbed and mounted.

I recently put in a new stereo in my car. Sony MEX-BT3900U. Absolutely love this stereo!! I can pair it with bluetooth, stream my Pandora, and when I get a phone call, it mutes the audio (even when on tuner) and with a push of a button I can answer the call and start talking. It's like having a high end car with the hands free. Best purchase ever!

Only cons I can think of are... it doesn't display the name of the caller on the caller id, only the #, and it is really hard to find a set of replacement OEM headphones (hpm-70)(my cat destroyed the set that came with it), on the plus side any normal (3.5mm connection) headphones will work, you just have to deal with a long cord (the set it comes with are VERY short on purpose). Never been happier with a bluetooth device of any kind.

Iv been using this with the gt for four months now, Im really satisfied. After some small changes in Bluetooth audio config file it works well with both music and in call..

well since i use the bt headset for calls so i dont hold bulky tab in my hands. I use the cheapo 15$ nokia bh105. Works on any device even ps3. Music media and video. I still stick to a strong sturdy wired headphones.

I don't have the BT device mentioned, but I can attest to the audio quality of Sony BT headsets. I had a BT20NX previously, the build-quality wasn't too great; the cable came loose after about a year or two of use but the audio was pretty astounding being bluetooth and all. My key liking of it was the level of bass it provided, and that it worked with all my devices from mobile phone to PC without a hitch.
Now using a Jabra BT3030, bass is weak similar to the Plantronics I had previously. Quite disappointing since my main use of a BT headset is for music.

I have the mw600 and have paired them with my galaxy s and work fantastically. Though I have tried to connect to the galaxy tab but keep having issues like it wont show up in the scanning area.

No, it isn't.

Anybody can confirm me that I can use the Tab stock earpiece and this? I kindof don't like the thing to be clipped at my shirt or something. I don't mind the loss is quality if using the stock earpiece tho'.

You can use any 3.5" jack connector ear piece with the MW600, only thing is that the mic is on the tiny device, right next to the answer button. means you need to clip it on your shirt while talking.

So the stock earpiece mic won't work?

Im also using a mw600 for almost a month now with my Tab, dell streak and HD2, its quality and performance is truely great! I didnt use the stock earphones that came with it, instead I use my Beats Studio by Dr Dre. And wow! Sound quality is still awesome! No difference when I was using my Dre's in a cable, I am really amaze.
Best range ever on bluetooth devices. Goes through walls and sound quality is still great.
what else can I say, its a worth purchase.

yeah. i am using the MW600 too. great BT headset. Can even connect 2 devices at one time. I use it for listening mp3 on my GT and the other connection for answering call from my iphone.

I love this BT as well. Best BT sound quality I've ever heard. I didn't like the cable on the included headset, although the sound was great and the earpieces are really confortable. I bought a pair of $20 earbuds and cut and resoldered the cables myself, now I've got a pair of earbuds with a 1' cord, and it clips to my shirt collar. No more tangles, or excess cable! Perfect!

I use the Sennheiser PX 210BT and it is really great.
Long battery lifetime, fast connection, controls work well and the sound is just great.

Don't know the SE but the clipper sucks!
Call quality is really bad. Music quality quite good though.
I have a Plantronics BackBeat. Music and call quality is good but they tend to drop out of the ears once in a while due to the cord around the neck.
Have yet to find the perfect stereo BT headset.

I have the Jabra BT3030 and have to say that the sound quality is pretty good with my shure se210 headphones. The call quality is good and all the buttons work.
Ohh and it's fairly LOUD, if you lie it loud.
Got mine for £12 from hong kong, from a company that seems to be no longer trading. But they are available from ebay easily.

I am using a Sennheiser MM400, after the last update to v10c phone calls are also working. Controls work too.

Voice dialing
Is anyone able to use Voice Dialing from a bluetooth set?
I have the SE MW600 and all the remote controls work EXCEPT for activating the voice dial. Voice dialing worked with my HTC WM6, but not on this LG Android. It will work if you launch Voice Dial manually on the phone first, but that defeats the whole purpose of having and using the Hands Free Profile.
Music controls work flawlessly and sound quality and volume is great. Nice to have the music equalizer working after coming from a HTC whose music player would not allow equaliser over bluetooth.
I am thinking of trying a Sony DRC-BT60 to see if it is able to activate the voice dial. The other feature I am wanting in the Sony is noise cancelling/filtering which the MW600 does not have. If you are thinking of using the MW600 while on a motorbike or bicycle, forget about it.

My Dial button doesn't work. This is an LG problem as my dial button activated the voice dialling on my ZTE Blade. I have voice dialing installed.

Yes, that is what I am suspecting, that it is an LG problem. Everything I have read says that Froyo 2.2 is capable of doing voice calling over bluetooth.
What to do now?

I'm using Nokia 905i, it is the best!

I'am also using SE MW600..
Same with you, all remote controls work fine..
But its LCD didn't display the caller names, this will not happen if I use SE G900..
Now I have to remember such a number, or the other way is I have to look at my O2X to see who is calling..
I haven't use this device to make "voice" dialing, but you can redial the last number you call from MW600 with pressing the dial button twice..
It's not a big problem to me as I can make a call manually from O2X..

I have SE MW600 for last year with my N1.
All described issues haven't gone on LG O2X:
- poor voice dialing (working, but 98% tries are mistakes );
- no support for Caller ID, only numbers;
- AOSP firmwares (like Cyanogen) often doesn't have A2DP profiles to listen music through bluetooth (now CM7 nightlies (#58 for today) for our LGO2X doesn't have one, you can only use remote controls but hear nothing);
I wonder if any of these developers could try to extract from SE Android-based devices MW600 supporting files.

Is it illegal for an AOSP ROM to have the A2DP (and any other Bluetooth) profile? I am using MW600 too!

I would HIGHLY recommend looking into the LG HBS-700 Stereo Bluetooth Headset. I purchased it two weeks ago, and I've been loving it! Call & Music quality are AMAZING. Controls work perfectly, and it controls it's own volume. (Separate from Android's)
Battery lasts me a few days of good usage.

No, of course not...
His (dikud) post was from 26th of June and CM7 didn't support A2DP back then. But more because of lack of information about the Bluetooth stack – which isn’t good documented by LG and nvidia and needed reverse engineering to be implemented in CM7.
Now/today its working fine...

Android Auto Audio Issue

Alright so there is an issue I have found and cannot figure out how to solve it. Android Auto starts up fine and works great with Bluetooth audio for music and navigation through the car stereo. But, as soon as a call comes in it defaults to the phones speaker and I cannot hear hardly, due to the location of the phone. Is there anyway to have the call audio come through the speakers and Bluetooth like everything else already does?

In the Bluetooth settings for the car stereo, does it include the phone audio profile and is it enabled?

My radios profile is setup with my phone fine. When I don't have the app open it functions fine with phone over Bluetooth. It is an issue with the app cause everything functions without it running but when it is up the calls come through speakerphone.

All of those permissions are set correctly.

I'm having a similar issue with my Pixel handset. I don't have an android auto head unit so just use my phone mounted on the dash with AA installed, and connected to my cars system using a 3.5mm stereo jack cable. When making and receiving calls though it defaults to using the handset loudspeaker rather than outputting audio through the cable to my cars system.

I have had some issues as well...not totally similar to you but this is my issue.
Every time I start my car, Bluetooth connects as it should because I may not want to use AA (Android Auto) and may want to just listen to radio . I can listen to music from my phone. I can make and receive calls with no issue. My only requirement is that I have to lower the volume of the phone ringer to silent or else I hear the screech of death from the phone speakers when a call comes in. Not the normal situation or ideal at all. Anyway, i have tried to find a way to 1-Delay the time it takes for AA to connect to the HU or 2-Have the Phone go into Do Not Disturb when connecting to the car. I have not figured out a way to do either.
Well, if I decide to use AA, and click on the image on my HU (JVC-KW-M740BT), the same happens....no calls can come in without some sort of loud noise from the Phone speakers. everything else works.
I am just at a loss as to how to automatically set up the silent ringer on my phone when connected. I have been trying to use Llamalab's Automate app....and i have gotten close but no cigar.
If anyone can contribute solutions, to your problem or mine, that would be great.

I have many issues with the bluetooth too. The problem occurs when listening music in AA and switching to/from phone call mode. It's a bit random. I think there is a problem when switching the bluetooth profile. I'm running Oreo 8.1 (Lineage 15.1)

It is discouragoing to see this problem has been ongoing for years. I have the exact same issue. Everythbing works fine. All audio through the head unit. Call comes in. Call is fine. Audio through the head unit. Hang up the call and all audio reverts to through the phone.
