[REVIEW] Awesome Case! easecase B1 - Streak 5 Accessories

Prior to purchasing my Streak I had purchased the B1 case from easecase on ebay: http://tiny.cc/gn5hg
After about a month use, I really enjoy this case and highly recommend it.
PROS:
- Fast and easy to put the Streak in and out
- Ability to charge the Streak and listen to music with headphones while in case
- A perfect fit! (I could not even place several folded bills in with the Streak)
- Good quality and did not smell bad when I received it
- Nice leather
- Microfiber material on inside
- Does not add much on the Streak's size (still pocket-able)
- Hidden magnet to secure flap
CONS:
- The little flap gets a bit annoying but is needed to secure it 100%
- You have to orientate the Streak a certain way if listening to music or charging
- When in the case, the noises (ringtone, alarms) are a bit quieter

Extremely worth the money, but indeed does take a bit of time because easecase makes the case to order.
The Streak in the above images was ordered with these specifics:
#. Item code: EC-B1-DELL-Streak
1. Outer leather: BU cowhide black
2. Lining leather: Microfiber suede black
3. Closure: One hidden magnet
4. Back: None
5. Personal words engraving: None

thanks for the review bud.
however, no belt clip move along, nothing to see here

Errm these are custom built. you can add any type of belt clip you want when you order it.
edit: ooops you're right for some reason this model doesn't have an option of a belt clip.
Knowing easecase tho, if you drop them an email before order they will actually add a belt clip if you ask nice.

I would like an under-arm holster type case for mine.

I orded the D2(horizontal) style on 08/12 with the belt clip and it's shipped. I'm very hopeful that it will arrive maybe late this week. I'll try to remember to post my impressions.

In regards to having a belt clip, personally I could never wear my Streak on my belt. Too big of a phone.

It arrived on Saturday and I've used it for a few days. Simply put, it's an extremely nice case.
I might be old-school but it's real leather and I count that as a good thing. The materials and construction are great. The fit is PERFECT with just enough spare room to make it easy to get in and out. I wish I had thought to ask them to make it a few millimeters deeper - when I eventually get a silicone cover things are going to be a little tight. Speaking of tight, the beltclip would hold it on through a roller coaster ride.
The one complaint I have is that there is not a small hole in the bottom for pushing the phone out. My old Seidio case had one and I missed it immediately. If you're buying one and ask I'd bet they'll do it for no extra charge.
Wrapping up, I was also concerned that the Streak + case might be alittle uncomfortable on my waist but it isn't a problem at all.

could you please post some pictures here? I am considering placing the order...many thanks..

Kinda pointless to me, every time the phone rings you have to take it out of the case to see it if its in a bag thats 2 things you have to get past.
i prefer cases where the phone is the same as in its raw state and just as accessible

Done - I'm aware that you can see my name in the photos. Tons of people have the same name, I'm not worried about it.
I ordered with the following options
#. Item code: EC-D2-DELL-Streak
1. Outer leather: Nappa cowhide black
2. Lining leather: Microfiber suede black
3. Closure: Two hidden magnets
4. Back: Belt clip 02
If I were ordering again, I'd definitely ask them to make it a few centimeters deeper and to add a hole in the bottom (for easier removal and for access to the PDMI port while it's in the case).

Thank you for the pictures... Mine should be here any day and used the same item code. I really liked the wide belt clip, it looked like it would help stabalize it on the belt. I may have to punch a hole in the bottom of it though (time to dust of my leather working skills)

"Rob Knight...he'll kick your ass"

I know of a Rob Knight, oddly enough he's an Army photographer and could very easily kick your ass

Oddly enough, I was a Navy photoprapher.. I won't make any ass kicking claims.

Rock "Barely There" HTC Vivid case

I hadn't seen any reviews of this one, so I figured I'd do a quick review and give some better pics of the case in action.
Manufacturer: "Rock"
Model: "NakedShell" AKA "Barely There" for HTC Holiday/Vivid/Raider
Source: Ebay. So far, I've only seen them sold by "luckyexpress168". (I have no affiliation other than buying a case from them)
Cost: Varies with exchange rate, approx $14 USD currently
Ships from China... slowly. Not that it was unexpected, the auction says it will take a while, but it was at least 2 weeks to get to me in Ohio.
Thoughts -
Fit/finish are great. Fits the phone perfectly, and all ports are easily accessible. Headphones, USB cable, speaker, camera, flash, volume... all work fine.
The texture is hard to describe, but I LOVE it. I had tried the Otter Box rubber case before and hated it because it was so grippy. I had the hardest time getting it in/out of my pockets. Not the Rock case! It's got this great silky/velvety feel to it, but it's not "sticky" so it goes in and out of pockets easily.
The profile of the case is intentionally small. It's really "Barely There". I'm sure it doesn't offer as much protection as some others, but it seems fine for my needs. Not at all bulky and it retains what I feel are the good lines of the phone.
Overall, I'm VERY pleased with this case. Just what I was looking for, and so far I haven't seen another similar design.
On to the pictures. If you have any other questions feel free to ask and I'll answer them as best as I can.

Damn not bad for $15. I have the otterbox but thats just because of my job and the likelyhood of something happeneing at work is high. I have been looking for a weekend/after work case and this might be it.
Thanks
Thanks for the review. The tpu case I have now works well enough while I wait for my Otterbox commuter but this one might be good for backup.
Just a question about the first picture.
How come you have the lighter circles around the soft buttons at the bottom? I don't have that on my Raider.

Oops, forgot to mention that. That's because of the screen protector. I got the Moshi at the AT&T store the day I got the phone. I know some people hate them, but I really like the matte finish and the fingerprint resistance.
Thanks,

Awesome, thanks for the review! I was debating between jumping into an OtterBox or holding out for something else. I'm glad I waited
Looks like this may be the way to go to keep from losing the back plate / cover

It actually does have that a tiny bit, but it seems to be only visible when the screen is off. It doesn't bother me, but I can understand how it would be annoying (especially for $25).
-Brett.
This case looks nice but im not sure how it would hold up during a drop on concrete. The bottom and top of the phone isn't that protected with this case.I work on concrete and have ordered the otterbox commuter case.I will post pics when i get it.Thanks for the great review and pictures.
I actually planned on ordering the red one for my white Vivid, but then I noticed it didn't have the small cutout for the secondary microphone in the back, next to the camera.. Not sure how important that is but it's there for a reason so I'd prefer it was open with the case on.. Disappointing..
Now thinking to get the Seidio Surface case in the Sapphire blue.. It looks like it has a similar soft touch finish, and not very bulky.. I wonder if it's as sleek as the Rock...

[QUICK REVIEW] Nexus 7 OEM Case

So I just got my OEM case in from the Play Store and I figured I’d give you guys my initial thoughts on it and answer any questions you guys might have. First and foremost, I must say I am a little disappointed in the overall quality of this thing. It just doesn’t match that of the tablet that it is designed to protect. It’s a little on the thick side, it is made from a cheap TPU style material which I have never been a fan of, and it makes the sleep/wake and volume buttons rather difficult to press. The flap that folds over the screen is the same material, and while it does have a little extra thickness for protection, there is no soft liner to protect the screen. I guess that’s OK, because nothing will scratch the screen anyway when it’s closed. There is no magnet, clasp, or snap to hold it shut, but it does stay shut on its own when the tablet is set down. The hinge is very flexible, and you can fold the cover completely flat to the back of the tablet with little effort. Unfortunately, there is NO smart cover function here so it does not wake up the tablet or put it to sleep.
The design of the case matches that of the Nexus 7 closely. It has the same dimpled pattern on the front and back, and the Nexus and ASUS logos are the same size and in the same location as they are on the back of the tablet itself. One thing I really like about it is that I can clip my Wacom Bamboo stylus (my secret weapon in Draw Something and Where's my Water) directly to the spine of the cover which is pretty convenient. The way that the case was manufactured left seams running around the whole case, and you can see the score and cut marks where seemingly all the cases were stuck together on the assembly line. Sorry, but to me it all just makes it feel cheap. I do like the design of the case, I just think they could have made it with higher quality materials. If you happen to like TPU cases, then surely you will be more pleased with the case than I am. Looking online all the other cases available seem pretty cheap and I absolutely HATE leather cases so I think for now, this is the best case available. It really is a shame that this is what Google thinks is the best way to protect their pride and joy of the tablet world, I really wish they put as much thought into it as they did their tablet. All complaints aside, I can recommend this case on its design and level of protection alone- there is no question that the Nexus 7 is safe and sound nestled inside of it. $20 for this thing is a fair price in my opinion, and as critical as I am of it, I am very happy with my purchase and have no problem using it until a better option comes along.

The Wacom Bamboo that I have just has a clip like any other pen but the Adonit Jot Pro that I have on order has a magnet in it to stick it to the face of the tablet.
Thanks bud! Appreciate it. Going to order this as soon as it is available.
Just got back from the craft store, unfortunately none of the magnets I got work. I tried to get the thinnest magnet tape possible so maybe that's the issue. I bought these little .75"x.75" squares, those magnets for the back of business cards, and a roll of actual tape that comes on a dispenser like scotch tape. No go on any of them.
Greatly appreciate the review. Might opt to hold off on this now. :L
Thx for the review..I'll wait for an aftermarket case closer to the smart cover on the iPad....you know one is coming!

luckyexpress168 - Ultra Thin Slim Pu Case - quick review and pics.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/15088047618.../sch/i.html?_sacat=0&_nkw=150880476182&_rdc=1
I ordered the case on 20th August and it arrived yesterday 31st so not bad from HK to the UK signed for delivery.
The case is very slim, in one of the pics I've included a 5 pence piece for comparison, the case is almost exactly the same thickness as the coin at about 18mm closed.
It looks very smart and the chrome strip for the magnetic closure looks better than I'd expected. The case section is hard plastic like many others and has a soft neoprene style backing to it. The N7 clips in very securely (I've yet to figure out how to get it out again...) and is protected all round. All the cutouts are in the right place and nicely bevelled, the on/off switch and vol controls have their own cutouts which makes finding them easier than my previous case,
In the open stand position the nap of the cloth interior holds the N7 at the angle you want, nice touch. No auto on/off magnet, but that's just a lazy mans gimmick anyway and doesn't bother me as long as the switch is easy to get to. You can see in the second picture the speaker grill and the PU material the 'hinge' strap is made from, because of the way it's made there's a bit of rotational play to the cover when closed but not too much, time will tell if that increases or not.

Is it possible to fold the cover back completely, how does it look?
Yes it is possible, the cover folds back flat and stays flat without any pressure.
even cheaper
Found a cheaper one from the ausies for $13.4 - http://www.ebay.com/itm/ULTRA-SLIM-...ccessories&hash=item46078371f9#ht_6402wt_1194
It comes without the metallic Nexus7 part, I prefer this version.

Looks pretty much the same, except without the chrome strip as you say. the magnet is built in to the case so I assume there must be some metal strip in the cover to keep it shut. Auction doesn't give any details though.

hhmm, maybe that's why it's cheaper? or maybe there is a metal insert inside the cover that connects with the magnet.
I just got mine in today and I actually like it a lot. It has a nice soft leather feeling in hand and the plastic back feels quite sturdy. The tablet really clicks into the back solidly, it actually takes some work to remove it from the case. The construction is pretty nice, it has the felt on the inside of the lid and the plastic, the cutouts are nice (especially the separate power button) and the magnet holds it closed firmly.
The downsides are minor, the lid is a little oversized and doesn't lock into place when closed. It can wiggle and twist around some. Other then that it looks nice and feels nice, it compliments my bulkier Portenzo case well
I've found a good use for the chrome N7 strip, I bought an Appldea Maglus stylus and it has a strong magnet in it which holds it onto the metal very securely.

No. the magnet in the base is slightly raised so the chrome strip does not come into contact with the screen when closed. Use a screen protector anyway, they are so cheap it's daft not to.

I have this case as well, though I haven't written a review on it. My recommendation: DO NOT BUY.
First off, the biggest miss in this case is no sleep/wake magnet. On top of that, its difficult using the case as a stand for the tablet. Although the cover looks and feels good (almost like leather), $20 is way too expensive for something that is lacking a smart-cover feature, a mechanism to use it as a stand, and fake leather.

I have to disagree, Asus/Google very kindly provided us with an on/off button and I don't mind using it, I don't need a 2 cent magnet to do the job for me. I've also not had any problem using the case as a stand when I've wanted to, as explained above the nap of the cloth interior holds it nicely for me.
$20 is at the top of the cheaper end of the range but it's hardly bank robbery, I've bought a number of cheaper cases and all of them do the job to a greater or lesser extent but all of them look cheap compared to this one.
Each to their own though, ymmv etc. the world would be a dull place if we all thought the same.

[Review] Noreve Perpétuelle Couture Leather Case

Hi guys, just wanted to do a quick review of the Noreve N7 case I've been patiently waiting for the past 3 weeks or so. I wanted a real leather case and I did a lot of research on them before finally settling on these guys, and I'm not disappointed. The wait was well worth it.
Noreve offer a bunch of custom case finishes, so I went with the black perpétuelle couture case, which has a diamond stitching. I thought it would look better than the standard black, which everyone seems to have, and I was not let down. Custom orders take 14 business days to complete, and the company were very exact in their delivery time, which was a plus.
The case was 55 euros or 72 dollars. They offer free shipping with DHL to anywhere in the world.
It comes in a very nice box, and within the box there's a bright red cloth pouch for the case itself. Very excellent presentation.
Please excuse the crappy pictures. I did the best I could with my Galaxy S.

The texture (and the smell!) of the leather is outstanding. Feels very nice to the touch, and I admit to smelling it because it smells like a new pair of high end leather shoes
View of the side, bottom and back ports. The top is fully covered.
View of the back (note the little grills for the speakers - nice touch)
View from the front with the case open.
And finally, here it is in landscape mode.
One thing which was really important to me was the functionality of the sleep cover, and on this case it works like a dream. No problems whatsoever, not even when you fold the front back when you go to read something. It makes the tablet feel much more secure in the hand, and I prefer the feel of real leather as opposed to the textured N7 back, though that is nice and grippy as well.
All in all, I'm very pleased with this. It was well worth the wait. It's very functional, comfortable, and secure. Not too much bulk added to the device, and what's added feels like a dream, anyway. So I would say it's well worth it for anyone looking for a genuine leather case. These guys really seem to know what they're doing.
On a side note, their customer service people are extremely friendly and helpful.

Cheers.
Very nice review! I almost got one of those cases but opted for the Seidio Active case. It was a tough decision! LOL
I do want want of those, but having already spent the same amount on a treegloo case, it's hard for me to pull the trigger on this, especially when I have the Seidio case already.
The case looks really nice and finally see a real leather bound case with quality. The look reminds me of the Vaja Cases made in Argentina and I can literally smell the leather when reading your review lol.
Now I see that you love the case, but is there anything you do not like about it?

Thanks! It's really weird because I was going back and forth between Noreve and Seidio myself
There is one thing I don't like about it, and that's this :
The top isn't exactly flush, I tried to capture the little gap the best I could. It's nothing major and it doesn't bother me, because the case is still kinda stiff because the leather isn't broken in yet. After some use I'm sure it will go away, and besides, you can really only tell when you look at it from that angle. It doesn't affect the functionality at all.
Another thing is that the pogo pins aren't covered. I don't think the guys at Noreve knew what they were exactly at the time of designing this, so they decided to play it safe and leave it open. I don't see how you could put this on a dock while it's still in the case. But if I were Noreve I probably would have played it safe and left them open as well.
Those are the only two little things. Other than that, it made me like my N7 even more - feels so much better in the hand.
Thanks for the detailed review.
Is it just me, or does some of the finishing, particularly on the side views, look a little DIY? The cut outs just don't appear straight at all.
No it's not just you. Because it's hand made, the cut outs are not 100% symmetrical. It's apparent on the micro USB cutout, and also pogo pin connector cutout.
I'd personally rather have tiny imperfections like that for that human quality, as opposed to it being cut and stitched by machines. But that's just me. Thanks for your comment.
Interested in this case for my N7 as well.
But I would like to check if the front cover can be folded fully to the back? especially when using in portrait mode.
Yes it can, that's no problem at all for this case. I mentioned it as part of the review as well.

If it didn't work properly it would drive me crazy, as I read a lot on my tablet. I did a lot of research on this functionality before I bought the case. So yes, you can fold the front cover all the way back and the magnet will not shut the screen off. It works perfectly.

Ah..I don't know how I missed that.
Thanks for highlighting again!
Great review btw!
No problem
nice review and great looking case, just ordered one myself
Sweet! What color/finish? Really curious. I may order another one in a different color just for the hell of it
Wow!!! 55 Euros for a piece of tat that looks like a myopic chimp made it!!
/Facepalm
Almost, but not quite as bad as the " genuine handcrafted cardboard and paper " book cover look alike one I saw advertised the other day for $99
It's actually a very, very well made, hand crafted case from some of the best leather money can buy. But whatever

Nice thread revival to laugh at what was already a deeply ignorant comment.

MYBAT Jolt Case mini review - amazing case for only $6

I'm not that great at prose. Bullet points for all of you!
Bought from here. Also comes in white and red.
Notes:
The great big DANGER sticker and Big Scary Laser sticker is something I bought separately.
Pros:
It's 6 freaking dollars!
Does not feel cheap
Volume/power buttons retain their 'click'
Reasonable protection
High lip for drop protection
Lip does not impede touching the edge of the screen
Stand actually useful (comfortable angle)
Slippery enough to slide into my pocket, grippy enough to comfortably stay on a table
Does not attract fingerprints at all
Fit is very tight, phone absolutely won't come out on its own
Feels comfortably rugged but not ridiculously so
Would not be afraid to drop the phone whilst in the case
Cons:
Volume/power buttons have very little definition on the case, very easy to accidentally press volume down whilst holding the phone
Stylus cutout could be a tad bigger
Larger headphone connectors may not fit
Larger microUSB connectors may not fit
Can be a little fiddly to get the phone out of the case due to tight fit
Neutral:
Stand only has one angle (I like it for the simplicity, but each to their own)
Stand feels a little flimsy (I don't think it will break unless someone smacks the phone down whilst standing)
No dust covers on the jacks (I personally like this as I hate having to remove dust covers when I want to plug anything in)
Wrapup:
For $6 shipped I couldn't be happier.
Unless I find something hugely better or the otterbox commuter drops in price by $20, I'm sticking with this.

I've got the same case, modded it to use with my flip cover and it works great. With the flip cover on I can fold it back and prop the stand on it or it lays flat in front like a keyboard on a laptop. The only problem I have with it is the kickstand is a bit flimsy.

I think I might give this one a go - can't say no to extra protection!

I put the flip cover on, then put the case on and marked it just 1mm-2mm from the top and bottom of the flip cover then removed the case and cut it down to the little groove along the back edge, then cut along the groove. Afterwards I sanded the back edge with 200-1800 grit sand paper and it looks factory finished now.

Monty, i found one exact replica of the Otterbox Commuter for $5 and mod it to have a thin kickstand.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2153383
I spliced in the kickstand from a $9 TPU casing. The point is it's more protected from drops & has a functional stand without the $70 cost from where I come from.

I just received my uag scout case and then I see this thread. Blast. The uag case is nice. Fit is not a hundred percent but protection feels good. What it is, is not worth 39 that I paid for it. This case looks like it would offer similar level of protection to the uag case. Anybody compared the two? Might get it to cutout the back to allow for better charging wen I finally get around to performing the induction charging mod.

I'll post pictures on the phone soon, either tonight if I can get decent pics with my wifes photon on weds when I get home and have my 2nd note I can put the case on and take pics

The only thing to be careful with on this case is the inside edges are pretty sharp, at least on mine, and scuff up the edges of the phone. The reason I don't use it on my new note.

Sorry, but in terms of quality these are in a different category. Two months ago I said to myself after getting a handful of ebay cases - hey they all cost as much as one of the premium one. Then, I compared it to those from UAG, Case-Mate, and Otterbox - and the quality and fitment of ebay cases was pale in comparison. They will offer a similar level of protection, I will not deny that. But you will see how brittle plastic material is, how hard to push volume/power buttons, how flimsy and stretchy silicone inserts, how poorly inner/outer shells interconnect, how flimsy kickstand is, the silicone/plastic gets a blue shade from your jeans pocket, and how poor some of the port openings are. Regarding price of UAG - that's expected when a brand new product is released and there is such a high demand for it, thanks to a great reputation of their S3 cases.
Here's pics of it on the phone itself
