[Q] HELP! Anyone knows how to build ROM (milestone)? - Motorola Droid and Milestone General

Hi there,
Does anyone know how to build ROM(milestone)?. I want to backup my Milestone ROM, just in case.
who can tell me how to do it? eg. software, steps.
I really really appreciate for this.
Thanks in advance

Yeah I'm kind of curious in finding out how to make a backup rom aswell.

i presume you're rooted ? boot into recovery and make a nandroid backup from there. done.

How to backup factory rom?

Hello,
I have been reading about upgrading the opal or viva by installing a new ROM. But I have also read people who have had problems while doing this.
I was wondering what is the process to dump the ROM my phone has? What tools do I need to download in order to do this?
Help is highly appreciated,
Cristina

From what i know, in backing up the factory can't be done this way you'll have to flash it into your rom the same way.

[Q] Unable to Nandroid.....

Restore ?
Hi everyone im a noob at this so be gentle
Right as the subject states i cannot restore my nandroid backups as when i try i get a message (Failed to Flash Boot Image!)
I was running Tweaky's GingerBread rom and did a nandroid backup of that then i flashed simply honey rom (both Ginger roms), and when i went to restore Tweaky that error message came up??
Anyone advise me what i can do so that i can continue flashing with a safety of a Backup should i need it incase something goes wrong.
I did have a Htc Desire before this galaxy and had no problems whatsoever restoring my backups, from froyo to gingerbread or vice versa however this galaxy seems alot more tech hence why i have put this thread up.
So would someone please help so i can resolve this (bugging me) issue
Thanks in advance

Bumping wont help
Just flash a rom with odin...
Maybe you can try in CWM to see to mount necessery partition like system or data. Then you have a option to change permission system is read only. How about to start from this.
Juwe 4.3.1 on jvh works the best!

[Q] Making a backup of complete rom for flashing back (MAGLDR)

hi
don't know if this is the correct section, or if i should have posted in the nand development, but i'll try here
i love my current rom, but wanna try something new. so i'm wondering if there's a possibility for me to make a complete backup of the rom (like a dump or so), which i can easily flash back.
magldr 1.13 ist installed, but no clockworkmod or something like that. i read that when flashing clockworkmod recovery your rom will be wiped, and i don't wanna lose my current setup.
i'm aware of titanium backup, but as far as i know it "just" backsup applications, settings, contact, etc., not the whole rom.
do you have any hints for me? that'll be great
thank you very much & have a nice day
ahh sorry friend..

I dont know if this is possible without Clockwork(Recovery)Mod Im sure somebody here may know something about possibly doing it but, they will probably tell a way where you'd need CWM installed, or you wont get an answer of how for sure to use something by the time you want to change, it's addicting lol

[Q] Restore rom backup by other

If someone make backup of a working rom (without the data of course) from a SGN and give it to me, and I restore it on my SGN, will it work. If it does work, will it be safer than flashing the zip file? Thanks for your reply.

Yeah it should work. But tell me why would one want to make a backup without data. If you dont want data to be restored then why to make a backup...you can everytime do a clean install of rom !!
So its better you go ahead and flash the zip file of the rom directly on your device so that it settles accordingly with your device instead of having someone else's junk on your phone.
Hope you got the point home !!
Some one makes a backup without data of a good working rom as a service to others just like many people create roms and share on the web. I flash a few roms to try out and found that sometimes I do not have the features that someone on the web who flash the same rom have. I thought that restore a good working rom might be safer and have all the features of the rom. Thanks for your reply.

Migrate from GB to JB

Hello,
it's been more that a year since I've rooted my friend's Galaxy S and flashed DarkyROM on it and he would now like to have one of JB 4.2.2 (or even 4.3) ROMs. Could you please point me in right direction (preferably with links), what steps and procedure should I perform to make it work? I really don't want to mess something up.
The only thing I know for sure is to make EFS backup before flashing: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=859914 but other than that... well, I hope for your help.
Thanks :fingers-crossed:
