[Q] PSFreedom for HD2 IS DONE, X1 possible? - XPERIA X1 Android Development

SAME WM,Can run Android (haret.EXE)
My English is not good,Forgive me.
Hope it can make a master? Transplantation or?Salute!
Hope someone can reply,Thanks!

HD2 and X1 have different processors(QSD and MSM) so I think it isn't easy and it's impossible to run the same android with the same kernel on X1

Thank you for your reply
I probably look to understand,Some trouble,It seems to wait for luck.

QSD and MSM actually share the same udc controller, so with some work the driver can be made.. meh. we haven't even implemented the proper client-side usb in android, so why bother at all?

What sp3dev said..
Get a Dream/Hero instead if you really really want to do it.

Here you can see the device compatibility list and now the HTC Raphael and Rhodium versions (with android, like the HD2) has been released so I think a port to the Xperia is possible:
http://wiki.psfreedom.com/wiki/Device_compatibility_list

It works with Raphael release. I tested it and added it to the wiki.

PSfreedom only works with firmware 3.41
After prepare the device just follow this instructions http://psfreedom.com/wiki/Using_PSFreedom
If you get an error with "cd sdcard" try "cd /sdcard"

I have firmware 3.41 and i read this instructions. Anybody can share working psfreedom with android?

Everything works fine with the exploit except the blu-ray emulation. It just won't boot my backups even with the backup enabled freedom.ko file.
arrrrghh....

Try a different Backup Manager, there are quite a few around now.

YUP , THE HTC RAPHAEL PORT WORKS PERFECTLY ON TOPAZ
JUST FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE WIKI CAREFULLY or FOLLOW STEPS BELOW
- Boot in WinMo.
- Plug USB to PC and Sync device
- Run HARET and let it totally boot in Android WITHOUT UNPLUGING USB FROM PC
- Unplug USB
- Switch off (back switch) PS3
- In Android Terminal > su > cd sdcard > insmod psfreedom.ko
- Plug Diamond to PS3
- Switch on PS3
- Power > Eject
copy-pasted from tac at diamond forum
i have installed XDAndroid and added the files for the Diamnond.
then i have done the following step like in the manual
# From android go to DevTools->Terminal Emulator
# Type "su", then "cd sdcard", then "insmod psfreedom.ko"
but nothing happend on the phone or on the ps3
i think we must wait a few hours
damn and i updated yesterday
DAMN GREAT
the htc_raphael version works on touch diamond2
sounds good.
edit:
BDMW Support released !!!
having all your game discs backed up on ps3 hdd is great.
Thanks again to the Htc_raphael modder who made this possible!
it works fine. i have installed backup manger.

using psfreedom at the psfreefom wiki htc_rahael page.
i also get the unknwon device issue at times, but it works on 2nd or 3rd try.
the error maybe due to error in timing button presses or not power recycling ps3
it works almost flawlessly for me
now hoping for the psgroove 1.1 features on psfreedom soon
so we can load cfw from usb!

PS Freedom Xperia Walkthrough [UPDATED 2/1/11]

Happy new Year and thank you for yor feedback, I may be late to the party but my work is killing my spare time. So, Iam trying to update the walkrthough to cope with the ongoing developments.
On a side note I've upgraded my xperia to an android device but Iam keeping it for jailbreaking purposes
Lets get it on!
Assuming your device is covered in the compatibility list you have to have the device rooted.
For how to Root (HARD-SPL) Your Xperia X1 check Here!!
Then its a matter of OS, in this thread we are talking about HTC Devices that run WinMo as a native Operating System. This hack works only in Linux enviroment so we need Android to run on the device.
How to run android depends on the particular device so one must go to the respective thread.
For Xperia its this thread
The Froyo Development has stopped but the current version is far superior than what we used some months ago.
In short dowload the xdandroid stuff, put the unrared files on your sd's root and boot through HARET once.
-
We now should be at a point that our device boots normally to The 2.2 froyo android version through Haret. Then we have to replace the module and zImage files with the PSfreedom respective ones plus the psfreedom.ko file. All these should be placed and overriten in the root folder of the SDCard.
Here is the latest Payload for Xperia
(need some help with the changes, but Iam impressed so far with the outcome)
All the preliminary work is done, now for the ****ty "do this everytime you wanna play back ups" job
Assuming the phone is off...
Turn it on
Wait for winmo to boot then run HARET from the device's file manager
Wait till android fully boots and navigate to the menu->DevTools->Terminal Emulator
in the terminal you must enter the following lines...
su(enter)
cd(space)/sdcard(enter)
insmod(space)psfreedom.ko(enter)
Click to collapse
At this point the phone is ready
Pull out the power cord of the PS3 (or flip the backswitch to off)
insert the phone at the first usb port (preferably with the shortest USB cable you can find)
flip the switch or insert the power cord
wait 3 to 4 seconds
press power on followed quickly by eject
you should hear 3 short blips
it takes 5 seconds for PS3 to boot
and DONE.
if it doesnt succed just repeat the process. if it never suceeds then you don't run @ 3.41 FW
[UPDATE#0] I Updated the PSFreedom Files link from the "Homebrew only" Free version to the Backup Enabled "Full" Version. Still Ver 1.0 though...
[UPDATE#1] It definatly needs 4,5 tries, I cannot get it to work in the first try...
[UPDATE#2] Everytime I try to run a backup my FAT PS3 Freezes... and to think I came this close...
[UPDATE#3] Stupid me, didn't check it out in the above compatibility list... tried another one works like a charm
[UPDATE#4] If you are 100% sure you did everything right and still you cannot perform the exploit on the console you should not turn off the device and boot it again, you can have it in terminal mode as long as you wish and perform the exploit on the PS3 again and again... This is also usefull when the console freezes or crashes, you just perform the power cycle only!!
Well There goes one day of my life I think I covered more than the basics, If you thing I helped you I would appreciate a line or two
[UPDATE#5] Went out today and felt like spending 300 Euros, got my self a Slim one. I will be testing it later today...
[UPDATE#6] I found out that the PS3 Slim model has a much greater success rate for the hack to work. Also, I tried all the steps and bypassed the active sync stuff and I can confirm that by bypassing it, IT WILL NOT WORK
[UPDATE#7] 5 Days into this and 3 with the slim model, slim works better BUT, the problems occure because of the xperia hardware/xdandroid port... it works but not always, its nerve wracking I know, so do the Developers of PS Freedom as they updated their wiki Raphael page page in the problems worning section.
aaaanyway, Tomorow Iam upgrading my HDD my old one is full.
[UPDATE#8] 11 days later and I have updated my fat ps3 to 3.42 and kept my slim hacked. Its a tedious work to enable every time xdandroid and the psfreedom hack but as I said it is free, anyway, having the slim console AND a very short cable (mine is 10cm) works EVERY SINGLE TIME, no probs with that. I had though 2 issues of console freezing... I don't know if it is the hack or my new HDD (7200rpm) nothing serious though...
[UPDATE#9] I've tried to replace the active sync step and connected the device to ps3, first time it worked, second time it failed...
[UPDATE#10] Well, thats it for me, I could no longer cope with the tedious steps in order to play for an hour, I've bought a jailbreak clone and flashed my xperia with a diffrent rom and formatted my SDcard. for the time being, Iam no longer using the Raphael hack...
[UPDATE#11] As it turns out my jailbreak clone is not upgradable (it was damn cheap after all). Anyways, I browsed to PSFREEDOM.com to see the development of the raphael hack and to my surprise i found out two things...
a) This thread is hotlinkedvia this page http://psfreedom.com/wiki/Sony_Ericsson_XPERIA_X1, which is kinda cool I guess...
b) I found out (probably need to read my thread a little bit more ) that more recent hermes payloads are been released for xperia...
So, I will refresh any broken links, start again, and keep updated this first post agains the willings of our beloved sony
[Update#12] The true reason that I returned is that my fat PS3 pulled a YLOD on me and left me empty handed this holiday season, so I dusted off my jailbreaked one

The same thing happened with me the first few tries, this message means that the process is not right, I solved this issue by re formatting xdandroid again and carefully placing and overrighting the files...
When you are 100% certain that the procedure is right (according to my walkthroug) then its only a matter o timing... keep trying mate.
First time i run android use original the module and zImage file and then replace them with ps fredoom files or from first i use replaced files??

I think its very clear that you have to boot on android at least once with the original files....
(the initial install and calibration)
I reinstall android 2 times and this time whne i connect device to ps3 no message about unknown device have been shown but ps3 dont show nothing ( manager.pkg) for install
I dont know what problem's.

take a usb drive and put inside (root) the manager then insert it in the other free usb slot.

so i managed to get android runnig via fatsal.
when i try to follow your terminal instructions it gives me back errors!
so i figured out actually the right comand is cd(space)/sdcard!!!!
but when i try to do the same with endboot it says no such folder!
so i tryed the next step the insmod psfredoom.ko it does something then i connect to my ps3 do the power trick and all but the most that i get on my ps3 is that "an unkwon device is connected" and nothing else! any suggestion?

What I have gathered together in this walkthrough is what many people suggested and some other people including me found usefull and working.
You probably don't have the proper file arrangement in your SD card
and the actual command line is "cd sdcard" to access the sd card and thed "cd andboot" to access the "andboot" folder where the PS Freedom files reside.
hope I helped

yeah. earlier I placed EVERYTHING in the root instead of making a folder called "andboot" so I'm going to do that again and see what I get. I think it's a bad psfreedom.ko file.
People...
When you installed xdandroid on your xperia the guy who made the port said that you have to create an andboot folder to place the android kernel inside...
so by default you have an andboot folder.
then its a matter of overiting 2 files there... simple as that.
Finally i did it
It works for me now
Perhaps i am stupid, but i cannot get it to work. This is how i do it:
Copy the android files to the sdcard and boot it in the phone with the haret.exe (takes a loooong time to boot). Reboot the phone back to WM, copy over the files module and zImage file, boot back into android with haret, startup terminal, write in the commands and so on. I start up the PS3 as instructed but i only get the message unknown USB and I cannot see any install pkg file.
I have tried and read all the instructions but I cannot understand what I am doing wrong, anyone have a tip?
helps needed
i have been trying make it work all day with no luck. mine is a uk version X1 with original rom. i followed instruction step by step and even reinstall the andriod port several times. however, still not working. always appear unknown usb device on ps3 screen. the only thing i didnt do is that flashing the SPL. is it a necessary step? what's the purpose for flashing the SPL?
actually, the module files from android and the one from psfreedom didn't have the same name... is this an issue ? witch name we have to keep ?
thx for the tuto !

[KERNEL][GUIDE] PSFreedom enabled kernel by Adrynalyne

Thanks to Adrynalyne for the kernel and Docmon for the support
Download the following file that matches your current ROM (All have been BDVD enabled):
Sense Based ROM: http://adrynalyne.us/files/kernels/psfreedom/bdvd/psfreedom_bdvd_inc_sense.zip
CyanogenMod6: http://adrynalyne.us/files/kernels/psfreedom/bdvd/psfreedom_bdvd_inc_cm6.zip
Ruby: http://adrynalyne.us/files/kernels/psfreedom/bdvd/psfreedom_bdvd_inc_ruby.zip
Prerequisites: Must have PS3 version 3.41 phat or slim. Must be rooted. If you are not, use unrevoked here: http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/unrevoked3
Instructions:
1.) Place downloaded zip file from above on SD card
2.) Make Nandroid backup (just in case)
3.) install zip through recovery
4.) reboot phone
5.) Step 5 is only necessary if you are running CM6 or Ruby.
5a.) Download terminal emulator app from market and install
5b.) Open terminal emulator and issue the following commands
su
insmod /system/lib/modules/psfreedom.ko
6.) plug in cable from PS3 to Incredible
7.) Turn off power to PS3 by unplugging power cable if you have a slim or by flipping the switch if you have a phat model then reconnect/toggle back on
8.) Press the power button immediately followed by the eject button on the PS3.
9.) You may now unplug your phone from the PS3 as it is no longer necessary.
10.) You can now flash your kernel of choice back onto your phone to "disable" this mod. Or you can recover your nandroid backup.
Now you should have two new menu options under games on the dashboard. You can use these to install programs such as backup manager or other homebrew.
Enjoy!

Awesome, thanks for the instructions! Will try it out later tonight or tomorrow.
One question, can anyone explain in layman's terms what the difference between these is:
payload_dev_bdemu.bin : This is the PSGroove payload which adds Poke/Peek system calls, with BD-Emu support
payload_bdemu.bin : This is the standard payload with BD-Emu support (which allows to play backups)
Nice, just tried the Droid port on my wife's phone last night. Gonna try this on my Dinc tonight.
Cant wait to try this!!! My Teensy is on backorder so this is a perfect stand-in.
Just checked my PS3 and it's still on ver 3.30 so I may have to try this out on Ruby!!!

You can download the 3.41 update and apply it using Sony's directions for applying updates via a flash drive. Then you can take advantage of this exploit.

The difference is only noticable if you are a dev and looking at peeking into the kernel. If you are just wanting to use it to play backups or homebrew, either will work.

Well, before the psfreedom.ko file was autoloaded at boot time, you had to manually go into a terminal emulator and su then type insmod /system/modules/psfreedom.ko I think that was the path. If you go to the first post and look at the old thread we were in, you can search in that and find the exact path.

[HowTo] ClockWorkMod Recovery

Thanks to Trekfan422991 for cluing me in on the Optimus 3D recovery.
Working:
Nandroid
ADB (after special driver install, need to tweak recovery for it to work with normal drivers)
Mounting USB to computer
Flashing zip files
Dangerous:
Fix Permissions (caused lots of crazy issues, fix by wiping data if you use it)
Sdparted (the sdcards are mount incorrectly, this will probably destroy your device)
I am in the process of making a recovery specifically for our device, it is mostly done and will be posted here when it is ready!
What you are going to need:
ADB (and know how to use it, don't ask in here)
Rooted Phone (again, that will not be covered, don't ask in here)
Optimus 3D recovery image [Download]
If you don't understand something in that list, DO A SEARCH AND LEARN, don't clutter the thread with crap!
Lets get started!
Lets start by getting the recovery.img file on the phone. Open up a cmd prompt and type:
Code:
adb push recovery.img /data
The rest of this will be done on the phone shell. In the cmd prompt type:
Code:
adb shell
We will need to have su access, In the cmd prompt type:
(If you haven't allowed shell su in SuperUser now would be a good time to accept the root request on the phone.)
Code:
su
Now we are going to backup your current recovery to your sdcard. In the cmd prompt type:
(make sure your sdcard is not mounted to your computer)
Code:
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p6 of=/sdcard/mmcblk0p6.backup bs=4096
After that is done we are going to flash ClockWorkMod Recovery! In the cmd prompt type:
Code:
dd if=/data/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p6 bs=4096
Congrats! You now have ClockWorkMod Recovery! In the cmd prompt type:
(each line is single command)
Code:
rm /data/recovery.img
reboot
How to enable ADB access: (only if it's not working already)
Download and install: (unzip and install the 2 exe files)
http://www.mediafire.com/?j5m1plnvzb8r0zc
While booted into ClockWorkMod Recovery, go into your device manager, you should see an "LGE Android Composite Device" with a yellow triangle on it.
right click on it, update driver software...
select browse my computer for driver software
select let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
click the "Have Disk" button
click the "browse" button
browse to;
for 64bit:
C:\Program Files (x86)\LG Electronics\LG Android Driver\64BitADB
for 32bit:
C:\Program Files\LG Electronics\LG Android Driver
and select lgandadb.inf
click "ok"
From that list select "Android Sooner Single ADB Interface"
click "next"
click "yes" on the popup

I found a few modes, but no drivers yet so I don't know what they are. Even if we break stuff the kernel and recovery are separate, so technically we should always be albe to get back into recovery to fix stuff.
thankyou DG for getting this started..
so now with my clockworkmod i just made a backup of stock rom... if i say change the framework and I get boot loop.. will this clockwork mod be able to restore the original rom without any problems???
tiny problem... might just be missing something... but after i made my backup and i choose reboot system now... it just goes back to recovery... how do i boot up my phone!!!

I got mixed up as to what partition to flash, you just flashed a recovery image over the kernel... its ok tho.
follow my instructions to the su part, then do this.
// this will restore the kernel
dd if=/sdcard/mmcblk0p5.backup of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p5 bs=4096
// this will backup recovery
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p6 of=/sdcard/mmcblk0p6.backup bs=4096
// this will flash cwm
dd if=/data/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p6 bs=4096
OP is fixed!
edit--

I cannot find the download link to the recovery - in the quote above from the OP, where it says download, is that supposed to be a download link? I don't know if there's a typo or if I'm just missing something, but the "download" word doesn't link to anything for me. Instead, I thought I'd try searching for it in the optimus 3d forums, but search is down too Does anyone have a link?

Ah, gotcha. I thought I was going crazy Thanks!
Let's rom this baby dg . I assume you also bought this with plans to possibly exchange it when the AT&T Galaxy S II comes out? I'm very impressed by the performance and build quality so far. The main thing it needs is a better theme... yikes!

Fix Permissions (caused lots of crazy issues, fix by wiping data if you use it)
Sdparted (the sdcards are mount incorrectly, this will probably destroy your device)

After CWM is installed and working on our device, would it be safe to fix permission in "ROM Manager," or does that just fix permissions through whichever recovery is currently installed?
I'm guessing someone here knows how ROM manager works in this regard, but if not, I'd be happy to be a guinea pig... after all, I can make/restore backups now! : )

Sorry for being OT but I must agree: if designgears made a Thrill ROM that's Cognition-esque then I'd consider keeping my Thrill, but considering he already has a ROM for the GSII, I imagine he's going to get the AT&T Galaxy S II? Side note, you know you've really earned some serious nerd-cred when other nerds (who you don't even know) speculate what your next cell is going to be

Not waiting on dg here. Think you missed the "let's" part. Working on a Thrill ROM as we speak. Just got the Thrill about an hour ago and I already dumped the system image, de-odexed it, created an updater-script, added root and busybox, removed bloat, and updated a few apps. Time to start theming, modding framework, and tweaking.
Im also working on a ROM but if we cannot flash zips with CWM then how am I supposed to flash the ROM? Are you going to flash it with Heimdall or something?

Oh, good to hear! Man I really have to sit down and try to learn some more technical stuff sometime, because ROM creation, and not even just the theming aspects, is so appealing to me.
Maybe you can create a thread placeholder and describe what you've done so far? We're really getting OT, sorry all.

Oh, I thought you could flash zips through adb after doing the fix? Or no? (((edit: wait, no, I was thinking about pushing .apks through ADB, not flashing .zip files))) Hopefully this is something DG's new recovery might address. If no to both, could you distribute ROMs via nandroid backup files of a fresh ROM installation? It would be incredibly inefficient, but it would work, right?

[TOOL] Ouya SuperScript - One click CWM, Root, Xposed & Play Store for Windows

Ouya SuperScript
By TehCrucible
v0.1
INTRODUCTION
So I originally wrote this batch script to simplify and combine some of the most frequently used tweaks on the forums for my own sake, to speed up my tinkering with the Ouya but I've decided to clean it up and upload it in case anyone else wants to use it.
This script is designed as a "one-click" modification tool for a stock Ouya on the latest firmware. Please read this guide carefully.
I ACCEPT NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE OR DATA LOSS. This script is built on the work of many others much smarter than myself and be sure to check the credits.
SO WHAT DOES IT DO?
In a nutshell:
- Install Clockworkmod Recovery
- Root Ouya
- Install Xposed Framework
- Install Google Play Store
WHAT DO I NEED?
- A Windows PC. I have included drivers for both x86 and x64.
- A Micro USB cable.
INSTALLATION OVERVIEW
1. Update your Ouya to latest stock firmware
2. Install ADB drivers
3. Run the script
4. Play some games!
There's a more detailed step-by-step in the included README.txt file.
KNOWN ISSUES
- None

Thanks a lot for this. A lo of people have been asking about an automated method to get the play store running on the OUYA...
Great works. I just think of root my ouya....
A quick update:
It's working. I'm on the latest firmaware which is JZO54L-OUYA, kernel version 3.1.10-g780994a. Completely stock, but I had already rooted my OUYA.
Anyway, I enabled the Wireless ADB which will instantly show you the ip and port, installed the drivers for 64bit. Then open CMD and type: adb connect "iport"
Then I ran the superscript and everything went fine.
Hope this helps. I didn't even have to connect with a wire.
But I guess if you wanna install the CWM recovery you should be connected with a wire...
Hello guys!
I can see the Ouya in Device list in Control panel but I can't connect it in SuperScript. Any ideas?

Did you install the drivers right? If yes, then you should open the folder where you extracted your files and right click while holding shift then choose open CMD here. Then write: adb devices
If your device is there, it will give you an output of the IMEI and name of device
From there, you can then tell us what the error is and hopefully we can resolve it...

that happened to me yesterday, but I overcame it by have my computer plugged into the Ouya then reboot the ouya and as soon as the computer recognized it started the script and it worked.
but I have an issue too
So I can run the script everything works except getting the recovery installed. the command prompt acts like it successfully installed the recovery then the Ouya proceeds to reboot into recovery mode. When that happens I get this menu? Nothing happens when I push any buttons on my keyboard. This doesn't look like a custom recovery.
I have tried this many times, did a factory reset and started fresh however even after updating the device driver it doesnt recognize the ouya....

No it doesn't .
I think I had the recovery installed when I first got the device a long time ago and I used the manual method in this thread, but I'm not sure that it works any more. Also do you have a wired or wireless keyboard? By the way only the Bluetooth keyboard doesn't work. May be if you can install the recovery from that thread, then you can proceed to the next step. One last thing, I don't think you will need the recovery except if you want to install CM or something. Other than that, I never used it before.

Which version of windows are you on? Is it Windows 8 or 8.1? Do you know how to disable driver signature verification?
Also, what does it say when you connect? Just nothing, or not recognized or what? You can try the adb wireless, go into settings/development on the ouya and activate it. Then open CMD from the extracted folder and type adb connect "ip : port" then check by typing "adb devices". Let us know what happens after that.

I have tried both from my windows 7 computer and 8.1 laptop. It showed up just as you said "missing driver", sent it to the drivers part of SS to get the driver, it said it installed but when i run the SS and hit option "1" it comes up blank...

I can see from your posts that you tried everything and I'm so sorry that I'm just a user and not a developer or something. May be you can try sideloading terminal and try CWM manually (if you haven't already) or sideload ROM Toolbox and try the flash recovery option.
That's all I got. But if I were you, I won't bother about the CWM at all. It's useless.
As for the Play store, try the mod that I attached in my reply and let me know if this one works for you...
Unfortunately the link is not working. Is it possible to update it, please?
What I do if my micro usb is broken :/. I only have wireless adb
.. nice .. now my ouya will run again .. thanks
I already tried everything but I can't make this work... I installed every single drive in every single way.
The best screenshot of the whole situation is on attachment. SuperScript simply doesn't recognize OUYA with default drivers, neither provided drivers (or any of its variation like "composite adb" or something like that. The "List of devices attached" always return empty, even when provided drivers installed (signature deactivated and everything else). As readme says, when SuperScript doesn't recognize, it returns "error: device not found" every time that I try something...
This SuperScript seems great to start things on my my untouched and default OUYA... but I'm honestly out of options.

Problem solved. It is Windows Drivers issue. S-Config did a great job explaining how you should do this HERE. I hope it helps people who got stuck. SuperScript did work, I did installed CWM but I was not able to navigate (neither thru bluetooth usb full keyboard). I'm going to try to figure out what I'm missing later. As I can see, S-Config's website is fully updated... I do highly recommend read there who is going to do anything with ouya.
