PsFreedom working on Wilfire (PS3 debug mode tool to play backups) - Wildfire Android Development

http://www.ps3underground.net/esclusiva-port-del-psfreedom-su-htc-wildfire/
It's in italian though.
So i'm guessing he meant Soft-rooted HTC Wilfire, just dunno where to go from there =X
I have the SDK installed, but the instructions get unreadable from there.
Edit: Soz, seems there already was a thread about the same subject.
i'm stuck at nandroid backup part.
I have it softrooted, but dont know where to begin with backing up :S
What programs do i need?

softroot wont work, you need to root your wildfire with unrevoked, and make the nandroid backup with clockwork recovey flashed. after that download terminal app... from recovey flash psfreedom file and then use terminal to inesrt the code at that tutorial... i dont understan italian but I speak spanish and it helps alot to understand

Here are my files....
Working ok with WildPuzzleROM. Backups are supported.
Disable: h--p://db.tt/9AJ9QA8
Enable: h--p://db.tt/NjSCqPS
Enjoy.

please also add them in the WildPuzzleROM please

Hmm, rooted Legend differences to Hero.

Things were simplez in Hero Root-land, but seem to be a tad more complicated in Legend Root-land..
When I try and use AdFree, it reboots the phone.
The notes I made to remove stuff from the Hero system apps area no longer works. (I wanted to pull out PDFViewer and QuickOffice)
I also tried to the recovery-windows.bat from r4-legend-root to get the recovery menu up, and then tried a nandroid backup, it failed with "Error: Run 'nandroid-mobile.sh" via adb.
I did run nandroid backup via adb and it does seem to have worked. My question is, are they problems normal? Is there a way to achieve them on Legend?
I did find this (with regards to the AdMob problem) http://androidforums.com/all-things...e-not-working-after-2-2-leak.html#post1253445 But it did not help me, as there was no "Partitions Menu".
Many thanks.
For nandroid, try going into recovery with ROM Manager instead (fake-flash). That worked for my, the r4-root version did not.. hope it helps
Sorry, can you explain in a bit more detail? Any ideas on how to get the hosts adblock file installed on a Legend? That and being able to remove apps are my big problems (and the main reason I rooted...)

Not needed anymore.

Mod plz delete. The thread is remade now . less garbage in it
Hi,
That's sound great. Will test it as sun as 8 come home.

I realy dont think so, but i leave no guarantie! if i had an wildfire i would have tryd it my self. I realy think i would have root on a wildfire if i just had it in my hand for a while
any tried this one yet ? I sooo wan to try but im not sure as it could brick my phone.. if it does.. I get no warranty rigth(pretty sure im not)?
Doesn't work (I think)..
When I try to flash the recovery provided by the ROM Manager, I get the verification failed error and it stops.. Just like with the guide Paul from modaco posted before he pulled it because it wasn't working..
damn!
realy hoped it should work. anyone of you running linux?
maybe i have to pick a phone out from a shop, try to root it and then return it unrooted.
Yeah, shame really..
Any idea why the verification would fail?
Not running linux, but I could set up a VM if you need something specific from someone with a wildfire.. (Though I probably would need detailed instructions as to what you want me to do, been a long time since I last used ubuntu)

I have a Gentoo and an Ubuntu on a machines running, and i can setup anyone distri in virtualbox. What do you need?
I also can setup you a $YOUR_DISTRI in VirtualBox for you and give you ssh with root.
Btw can't find a Rom Manager in the market. Tried everything RomManager rommanager Rom Manager
You can have it with appbrain and fast web installer.
i will keep looking into this!
but its hard when i dont have a wildfire in my hands my self.
im sorry if i gave you false hope on this.

Thanks for the rom manager
Now then recovery is comming to wildfire i have remade a rooted rom.
Hi,
Just tested this - bug at line 13 on trying to set permissions of DATA - probably related to a2sd - did I need to partition my sdcard first?
Best,
Martin
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Row 13 in the script does this:
set_perm 0 0 0777 DATA:a2sd
So i belive as you self belive it depends on your SD-card. Try to partition you card. To something similar to this:
swap = 0mb
ext = 256-512mb
upgrade ext2 to ext3 (if you have this option)
and then wipe your phone, and reflash. if it doesent work we go from there. But i cant see anything woring with the script if wildfire work as the other HTC models.
Thanx for trying. if we dont manage to make this work i will make a rom that doesent use app2sd at start.
Regards Daniel
*Edit* did found that bugg! But you should realy have the sd partionated as i wrote before anyway
Will remake rom right now.
Great - if you post it up I'll test later!
If we can sort all hardware issues it will be a great start for other devs.

You can't until root is generally available.
I'm testing this now -- currently copying files at 50% and all is well ;P
Ok, flashed ROM, installation succeeds.
However, the ROM will not boot. Stuck at HTC loading screen.
I am unable to diagnose the problem because, at present, there is no /system/bin/sh executable, so can't connect via adb to see the log (even adb logcat relies on this).
I would recommend symlinking bash to /system/bin/sh so this can be done.
I've accidentally just started restoring a nandroid backup, but when that's done will wipe, re-apply update, symlink sh -> bash and try again.

[DEV] PSFreedom Android for wildfire!

http://psfreedom.com/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page
Download link and instructions on spanish: http://www.ps3underground.net/esclusiva-port-del-psfreedom-su-htc-wildfire/
What can we say? finaly
This will be included in or as a package in my rom(s)
(will update with more info after a night with sleep)
I cant seem to get it to work . I did notice that on the device compatibility list there are two different types of wildfire listed , one with an MSM72K usb controller and then another one with an msm_hsusb controller . Im not sure but i think that could be the reason its not working for me .
When i flash the zip it does disable all usb connections like its supposed to but after launching psfreedom.ko via terminal and following the instructions on the ps3 side it does nothing lol.
Ok got if working after flashing v6 puzzlerom , can't backup any games so i guess this is the version with backups disabled .
Can confirm, it works
A flash to disable would be fine, flashing back the nadroid backup takes to long
Can make backups but can't start.
Please can someone make a How'to or a patched version with enabled Backup support.
Translated for you guys
Hey all. I don't even have a wildfire and I'm translating this for the good of the community out of the kindness of my heart! (I've got a desire though!). Oh and it's italian not spanish but you can be forgiven for that. The two are so similar that I can translate it even although I don't speak any italian whatsoever (only spanish which is why I decided to translate this in the first place!)
Code:
[Exclusive] Port of PSFredom (for) your HTC Wildfire.
POSTED BY MRNAMELESS ON SETTEMBRE - 7 - 2010
(Translated by MrVarioII)
Thanks to the members of our team, Alephzein (thank you!), we now have the ability to use PSFreedom with your HTC Wildfire.
Follow the instructions and link below.
Prerequisites:
HTC Wildfire (with root)
questo file.zip
a terminal emulator app
Installation guide:
Download the zip file
Extract the zip file to your desktop.
Copy the file 'signed_090710_225229.zip' to your Wildfire's SDcard
Go to recovery
Perform a Nandroid Backup
Select the option "Choose zip from sdcard"
Select "signed_090710_225229.zip" previously copied to the SD.
Restart the phone.
Open terminal editor and issue the command:
-
su
- insmod /system/lib/modules/psfreedom.ko
Now we goto the PS3:
Playstation3 FAT: Switch off the console using the switch at the back.
Playstation 3 Slim: Unplug the powercable at the back of the console.
Disconnect any devices attached to the PS3 via USB.
Connect the 'Nexus One' to the PS3 (assume he means wildfire???)
Restart the PS3.
Press (or tap on the ps3 fat) the power button next quickly touch/press eject.
Enjoy your Jailbroken PS3!
hehe thank you!
sorry, i was tired last night and dident noticed it was on italian. but give me a slize of ham and i will tell you the diffrance between "Prosciutto di Parma" and "Jamón Serrano" in my sleep
Hi,
Since I am an android noob deluxe i wondered if anyone can redirect me to a guide to rooting the wildfire (as I imagine that is needed to use the PSFreedom).
I saw that there were some guides on this site but I don't know which one to use (my head is spinning with bootloaders and roms at the moment).
(Slaps myself, so that you dont have to, since im guessing this is a dumb question that has been asked 10 000 times before)
Thanks,
After a little testing I enabled Backup support.
It's quite simple.
open the psfreedom.ko in signed_090710_225229.zip with any Hex Editor and search for dev_xxxx and replace with dev_bdvd. Now Backup should work
Problem running psfreedom.ko
Hi, i am running a rooted wildfire with unrevoked. After installing the zip with recovery. I enter the code into a terminal. But, it says "can't open /system/lib/modules/psfreedom.ko". Thanks for the help.
I hack my PS3 using dingoo and PSfreedom, I install PS3 backup manager and PS3 FTP server
I order teensy++ dongle to use it with PSGroove
I think that this guide is the same for NexusOne and HTC Desire, also check the known Bugs:
Known bugs:
* This will disable wi-fi untill the original boot.img is flashed back.

Hi, after 2 nights of strugling i managed to root my phone, using unrevoked.
Got Recoverymod running.
Made a backup in the Nandroid part of the menu.
But i keep getting the error "No sd-ext found. Skipping backup of sd-ext".
Is it still okay for me to continue flashing the Psfreedom.
And would Restoring still work even though i got this error.
Or how can i fix this error?
Thanks in advance.

I'm using Puzzle V.6
Tried jypy91 files and the original files, Must have backed up and restored about 8 times now.
Any help would be great,
P.S in clockwork recovery when flashing zip from SD should signing and the other option for scripts always be turned off?

[Q] Create Copy of SGS

I want to create a copy of my phone as it is (not just user data, but everything, firmware and databases too) - so TitaniumBackup is probably not sufficient for what I need.
The idea is to be able to explorw all aspects of the phone on my computer - things such as passwords etc.
I repeat, I do not just want the firmware, but everything from my current phone in its current state.
I have already rooted it, just not sure what I need to do from here? Assume it's something Linuxy or Telnet based? (I am using a Windows Machine, so ideally something I can do on there)
Thanks for your help
i think to access the complete ROM via a PC you would need some sort of linux OS. you can do a nandroid backup via CWM and find a compatible program to let you browse thru the md5 file format but then again im not sure thats possible via windows OS... perhaps you could ask one of the Dev's for advice as im sure not all them create roms, themes, apps using linux based OS's ???
I think I did try to post this in the Dev section, as I felt it was better suited there, but maybe by selecting the 'This is a question' option, it got moved into this forum.
I have a backup using CWM which has produced some IMG files - will take a look in them and see if it's got what i'm looking for it in there.
I thought maybe I would need ADB running, but maybe I don't.
ADB is like having some Chinese woman teaching you German...... totally confusing..... at least it is for me anyway but good luck hope you do what you set out to do
what you want is NAND back up.
Search for rom manager on the market.
You must be rooted for this.
NAND back up is like creating the back-up image of your current cell phone just like you do it for your computer.
it backs up your phone completely.
Do some googling and you will see.

Phone won't get past boot screen, please help

Hi all,
I have a rooted Rogers Captivate running stock Rogers 2.2 with OCLF. The other day I installed busybox and anim mod, and today I decided to change my transitions with anim mod.
After applying the change, it asked me to restart my phone. I clicked yes, and it hung for a moment before showing a force close screen. However, before I could do anything, it reset, but after the logos and startup animation, it vibrated and went to black. The soft keys still light up, but no buttons including holding down power have any effect.
After pulling out the battery, I discovered I could still get to recovery console (and I'm fairly certain I could get into download mode as well), but my main concern is getting to / backing up my contacts.
Your help would be enormously appreciated!
-Alex
1. Check the files that are present in the theme u installed - typically the files under the system folders
2. Ask ur ROM developer to package these files (from original ROM) into a CWM flashable zip file (assuming u do not know how to do this)
3. Push this to ur phone using adb and install it on ur phone
Next time on, when installing any theme not made 'specifically' for ur ROM, refrain from doing so. In case you are in a mood to experiment, it would recommended to take a nandroid backup in case issues like this come up.
Since u say urs is stock, u could package these files from ur stock zip. For this u'd have to find a Roger's stock zip file, and u should be able to find an empty update.zip to package these files into (attaching template update.zip to this post; open in winrar).
Thank you very much for helping me with this diablo, I really got myself into a mess and I appreciate your help trying to get me out of it.
I'm not running any themes on top of Rogers 2.2, it's pure stock. I don't have CWM on my phone, nor have I used ADB before. Also, I'm not sure where or how I'd get the stock zip, I did download your template but I don't know how to fill it with what I need.
Thanks again,
Alex
Oh, and if you give me a donate button or paypal account, I'd be happy to show my gratitude.

I
Alex, try searching for Rogers stock ROM. U should be able to find it on these forums.
II
Meanwhile, try posting a thread to ask people here who may be on Rogers stock to zip up their /system/framework folder.
Asking for /system/app zip would not be a good idea since it would contain paid apps too. So alternately,
1. Open the theme zip that u put on ur phone
2. Navigate to /system/app folder
3. List down the apps u see there
4. Ask for anyone who's on stock rogers if they can zip up these files for u.
III
Next, considering u have the apps and the contents of /system/framework:
1. Open the file I sent u in 'winrar'
2. Navigate to system/app folder
3. Drop the apps u got from 'whoever-helped-u' into this folder
4. Navigate to system/framework folder
5. Drop the files in system/framework from 'whoever-helped-u' into this folder
6. Close winrar and rename to update.zip
IV
7. Put this file on ur SD card root
8. Boot into recovery
9. Select 'apply update.zip' (not sure of exact wording)
10. Reboot
Also, what is the theme u downloaded?
I put the steps in blocks so it would be easy to trouble shoot in case u run into any issues.
All the best Alex.

Thank you again, Diablo, lunch is on me today.
I don't have any themes installed, this is the program that created the trouble for me, which I download from the Android Market:
http://www.androidblip.com/android-themes/anim-mod-root-136113.html
I clicked on the "fly in & flip" selection.
I will make a post requesting a stock rogers 2.2 zip of their /system/framework folder.
Is there anything else I'm missing, and once I get the /system/framework get it into the update.zip, how do I get it onto my SD card root, or do I just put it on the root of an external SD card?

I see its a paid app, so can't say whats in it. But since its into animations and stuff, most likely it messed up some files in ur framework folder. Send me the update.zip file after u update so I can cross check before u can flash it on ur phone.
Hi Diablo,
I wrote a new post at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=997233
Am I asking for the right thing?
Also, on the app page it says "Anim Mod changes the system framework files without touching your theme so if you constantly switch from ROM to ROM you can always get the animation you prefer the best."
Does this make anything simpler?
Thanks again for continuing to help me,
Alex

Yes. It says it changes files. I would NOT recommend any such app that changes framework files with/without knowledge, unless, there is a way backup plan at hand to revert to stock.
I normally take a nandroid backup of my ROM before playing with things like this, so in case things mess up, atleast there is a working copy of ROM.
Secondly, since u said u need contacts, I would recommend the following:
1. Install titanium backup (TiBu in short)
2. Backup "Contacts Storage"
3. Copy this folder "Titanium Backup" from sdcard to a safe location (e.g., ur computer)
This would backup ur contacts. So in case u mess up with something, u can always copy this folder to ur sdcard and restore using TiBu.
U can also backup all user apps and data so u can restore all ur apps and data in these kinds of situations. But do NOT backup or try to restore any system data except the one contacts storage I mentioned above.
Also, be warned, contacts data cannot be moved this way between different versions of ROM like 2.1 and 2.2. But u can move between 2.2 and 2.2.1. I was also able to restore this data on 2.3.3 gingerbread.
Personally, I now use "Sprite Backup" to backup and restore my data.
Thanks for your effort yesterday Diablo. I decided to odin flash the stock rogers 2.1, repartition, and upgraded to 2.2 via kies. I lost my contacts, but couldn't go any longer without the phone. I'm gonna back everything up right now!

Sorry to hear that Alex. This time make sure u backup "Contacts Storage" in Tibu when u r on 2.2.
Else use Sprite Backup or anything similar to help backup.
