[APP]Droid X cardock app works with some exceptions - Fascinate Themes and Apps

I saw this in the incredible section and thought I would try it. Most of the buttons work. The exceptions are on the main screen: add app and music don't work and in the call screen: recent calls and contacts force close. This is a really basic carsick apparently but the rest seems to be working. Now the good news is that if you have installed Google maps the My Location button opens Google maps and navigation and the voice search opens Google voice search. Just thought I would share this.

using google voice

does anyone know of any one app that can set only CERTAIN numbers in my contact list to be called using google voice and includes a dialer as well? i'll gladly pay for an app that includes this functionality. i kind of can't believe something like this wasn't included in the stock app?

You can set Google Voice to ask you if you want to use it to make the call every time you try to call someone.
yeah, i had that option selected for a while, but it got to be mega annoying. thanks, though!

Try Voice Plus Free from the market. You have to add which numbers you DO NOT want to call with Google Voice.

[SOLVED] [Q] [Help] Google Voice

I have a 2.2 MyTouch 3G 1.2 and I just installed Google Voice but I can't send any text messages. When i open the app and hit the menu button, there is no button for "Compose." Has it been deleted or what?
Screenshot?
Using drocap2 or picme or shootme or similar.
Here they are. I've attached them.
Try texting someone.
Also what version is it?
Settings, should be there somewhere.
EDIT:
I went to google voice site and I added a different google voice number and now it works. Thanks though

[Q] Google Voice doesn't show up

Hi guys,
A friend of mine seems to have a problem with Google Voice - he's American but living in Spain, and he used to use Google Voice to call home.
Well, since he updated to Gingerbread the Google Voice app doesn't show app on his app drawer. He's tried setting the phone's language to American English, apparently to no avail. If he opens the Market and then navigates to the GV app, everything's greyed out and he can't open it from there; there's also no "uninstall" button.
Is there anything he can do to open the app?
Thanks in advance for your help.
He might want to try again with an american SIM card.
Android 2.3.3 Google Voice/Sipdroid Installation for OUTSIDE USA
When I did the manual update of Gingerbread 2.3.3 in Spain, I lost the Google Voice app functionality, as it was not included in the App drawer and all buttons were greyed out, including the Open button on the Android Market. I could not uninstall google voice nor do anything with it.
So here's how I got Sipdroid working on Android Gingerbread 2.3.3 outside the USA!!!!
Sipdroid only requires that Google Voice be installed on the phone to
setup the PBXes account. After Sipdroid is setup, Google Voice is not
needed, and can be uninstalled.
Below are the instructions for those of us outside the USA using Gingerbread 2.3.3 that want to use Sipdroid/Pbxes to make free wifi/3G calling to/from Google Voice. (You will need to already have a google voice number)
1. Download Sipdroid and install from the Android Market.
2. Download the APK file to your phone and install it. This will setup Google Voice and is just needed for the Sipdroid/PBXes setup.
3. Open Google Voice and just Sign In with your Gmail account. You don't need to continue further with the installation, just hit the Home button and then...
4. Open Sipdroid---A small button at the bottom of the application will ask you to setup a PBXes account and you'll just enter your info. Voila, now you can make/receive free USA/Canada phone calls.
Now, google voice will continue to be an app you can use on your phone, however when you reboot the phone, the app will disappear. The good thing is that Sipdroid doesn't now need the Google Voice app to function. (If you do want to use Google Voice in any other way, you can just reinstall it, and it will work until you reboot your phone)
Hope this helps!
Now I can sleep well after solving this..........

Google Employee Looking into Google Voice not working outside USA
Just read over on a Google Support forum:
A google employee is looking into this Google Voice issue on 2.3.3
Hopefully they'll get out a fix for those that need to use GV app shortly.

Until Google gets a fix out the door, one alternative would be to use the Mobile Web version of Google Voice. The only downside is that Android users only get the basic text-based version of Google Voice for Mobile Web. Only webOS users get the really nice graphical mobile web-based version. So unfair!
Google Voice is not available outside us until now
I don't live in USA and I activated Google voice. Using Skype online number. Helps if u want to call someone who is in the states or even USPS cell phone package tracking etc. Now, the VoIP international rates are also attractive to call home.

[Q] Missing 'Voice Search' Icon After Update?

Is anyone else missing the (Google) Voice Search icon after the update? It's nowhere on my homescreen or in the app drawer.
The annoying thing is that when I go to Google Play, it says that it's installed on my device. I was thinking about uninstalling it and then re-installing, but Google Play doesn't give me the 'Uninstall' option.
Thanks for your time, guys.
Also missing voice search icon
I am having the same problem. When I go to Google Play Store, it says I have Google Voice Search installed, but I cannot find the icon anywhere on my phone. Is this intentional by Google? If not, how do I get this icon back to access Voice Search?

Tap address in Contact to launch navigation

I have only owned HTC phones for the past few years. I remember being able to tap on an address in a contact and have it launch navigation. I guess it has been some time since I last tried it. Well am I missing something or is this option gone now. Was it part of the whole Apple lawsuit around the release time of the Evo lte. I think I remember that as I'm typing this post?

It works on my stock HTC One. I'm using Scout and when I touch the address I get the option to Drive To, View Map, Share, and Search Nearby.
Does not work in stock with Google maps. Strange.

Can I ask what you did? I don't follow the 'Cleared all defaults' step.
I've had this same issue. My research shows some threads indicating its due to the Google Maps update. Uninstalling the Google Maps update in Applications Manager has solved this for me. Default had the App auto update so I also had to disable that on the maps app.
HTC points at Google saying they changed the way Navigation worked. Google has said nothing about a fix.
I tried clearing contact, Phone, maps defaults. Still won't work. Emailed htc, they said it's the Google maps update to v7 at fault. No word on a fix. Just confirming what previous poster said

EDIT: See edit at the bottom of this post.
Sorry I have notifications turned off on my phone. Just happen to check my Gmail and noticed your post. I only use my work email on a daily basis.
If you are still not able to find it, this is what I found.
The clearing of the defaults was not the fix. I did that and then I noticed what I was doing wrong.
Go to call history in dialer or people tab or people app.
Select contact that you have an address attached to.
Click on contact picture. (not the contact itself)
You are then presented with a row of icons with a choice to call (if number is stored) email (if email address is stored) go to website (if it is stored) and so on. In this row of choices is a Google maps icon (if you have an address stored) click and it launches Maps.
Let me know if it helps.
