[Q] Missing 'Voice Search' Icon After Update? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is anyone else missing the (Google) Voice Search icon after the update? It's nowhere on my homescreen or in the app drawer.
The annoying thing is that when I go to Google Play, it says that it's installed on my device. I was thinking about uninstalling it and then re-installing, but Google Play doesn't give me the 'Uninstall' option.
Thanks for your time, guys.

Also missing voice search icon
I am having the same problem. When I go to Google Play Store, it says I have Google Voice Search installed, but I cannot find the icon anywhere on my phone. Is this intentional by Google? If not, how do I get this icon back to access Voice Search?

Try changing you're keyboard

[APP]Droid X cardock app works with some exceptions

I saw this in the incredible section and thought I would try it. Most of the buttons work. The exceptions are on the main screen: add app and music don't work and in the call screen: recent calls and contacts force close. This is a really basic carsick apparently but the rest seems to be working. Now the good news is that if you have installed Google maps the My Location button opens Google maps and navigation and the voice search opens Google voice search. Just thought I would share this.

[Q] Network Error when trying to Tie contacts to "Ok Google"

My problem:
Whenever I use "Ok Google" or Moto's version of the same I get this pop-up saying
"To improve contact recognition, Google needs to use your device contacts."
when you press continue i get the error...
"Network error. Check your network connections and try again."
This happens no matter who i try to call or text. It even happens when I speak the entire phone number, and not just a name.
So, some background
I just got a Moto X 2nd gen. It immediately started updating to Lollipop (which was cool) so i don't know if this was an issue before.
I am on verizon.
I am using a stock ROM.
I have tried this on both mobile data and wifi.
I have immediatly after tried connecting to google play, gmail, random internet and they all work.
Other voice searches work. I can get "Ok Google" to navigate, open web pages, get weather, ect...
Searching online...
Reset Cache on Google Contact Sync app
Reset Cache on Google Now Launcher app
Reset Cache on Google Launcher Config app
Reset Cache on Google App
I have already reset phone once.
Update.
When I reset and don't tie into google account it works. Once I tie into a Google account to get contacts, it stops working. I think it is tied to the "google app" app. Turns out you can not roll the "google app" back to factory setting. Clearing its cache dose not work.
I had a similar issue with Google Now when I got the new Moto.
Apps > google settings ? search & now > now cards > delete card preferences
that took care of the that same error message for me.
You are the smartest man ever. Didn't occur to me that it would be the cards. Fixed.

No Speech to text option

Hi, I just got my phone through xiaomidevices.com. It came with the english pack and google play store installed. The only option I can't get to work is the speech to text feature. The microphone does not appear in the messaging or any other app except the google search bar. I have tried all the settings, installed all the google features, activated all the appropriate permissions but nothing. Is it unavailable with MIUI8? Thanks for any help.

Settings -> additional settings -> language & input -> current keyboard -> choose keyboards -> enable google voice typing (?)
Same here
I am having the same issue. I like the Kika keyboard that came on the Mi Mix, but when you click on voice typing it says it is forbidden. Then in the Gboard settings there is no option for voice typing at all. I've gone to settings and language input and it does not show Google voice to text or as a keyboard option. There is a text to speech option father down the settings page but that has also has no option to enable the option even after downloading the correct language.
I am rooted, with unlocked bootloader running the EU ROM.

I too had the same issue until recently. I downloaded the swift keyboard app from the Google Play Store. When I opened the app it brought me to a new keyboard selection page that I had never before seen. On this page was the option to click Google Voice typing keyboard and since then I have been able to have Google Voice texting in any keyboard app

Thorin78's advice was my solution. I can't believe I missed it. If you already have gboard installed and those steps dont work I might try reloading the ROM since your issue doesnt seem common with it.
Solution to no text to speech Xiaomi
Download Good Assistant and Google Voice Search from the Play Store and all of your problems will be solved

Ok Google not working since yesterday

Current P10 firmware version vtr-l09 8.0.0.323 (654)
Sometime yesterday my ok google detection stopped working. I can side swipe to the left to get the google search page and manually start a search by pressing the mic key. I have gone through all my settings cleared cache, removed all data on the google app, text to speach (google) google play services, google play, with no success. When i reset the google assistant app and say ok google the app starts its setup proceedure asking questions for voice match etc after all done it asks for my pin to allow changes then closes. After this i can say ok google forever with no responce, again still being able to manually tap the mic to start a manual search that is spoken by me. access with voice match is greyed out as well as unlock with voice match. are others having this problem? Anyone have a solution? Thanks
Got the same problem. I have realised that when i've been driving a car today and tried to make a call. OK Google is not working anymore ;-(
Tried a few things, found that when I clear the cache, delete data on the Google app then uninstalled updates (reverting to previous version of the Google app) resolved the issue. I also disabled auto update for the Google app from the play store to stop it from re occurring. Huawei and Google can figure out the fix but this works for now

google search widget doesn't display contacts

Used to be able to search contacts through the search bar. It also provided smart results by showing people that I actually call if I had multiple contacts with same first name. Looks like google turned off the feature with android 11 update. I was able to keep the functionality previously by uninstalling the updates on the "google" app. But it doesn't look like it works anymore. It's so annoying not be able to do it.
Does anyone know how to get the feature back?
