[APP] Board Express - Tapatalk for Windows Phone 7 [R] 19-10-10 [U] 10-02-11 [V] 2.2 - Windows Phone 7 Apps and Games

Name: Board Express
We‘ve developed a new software for Windows Phone 7: Board Express for Tapatalk. This application enables you to use forums in the Internet directly on your WP7 device! Tapatalk is already well known on Android and iPhone and is very popular.
Xda-developers have their own rebranding Tapatalk client, the xda-develpers App for Android.
Our WP7 client allows you to read and write in forums on the go, using a special User Interface, adapted for Windows Phone 7. It has also been optimized for causing only little traffic and be easy to read. You may also write posts and open new threads, subscribe to topics and search. Furthermore, it can display unread threads or topics in your own themes, show private messages or send them and of course quote, edit, delete and report posts, and much more.

Hi
The app looks really good. Nice work. Is there the "go to first unread post"-feature integrated as in the android version of Tapatalk?

No, sadly this function is not integrated in the first version. We worked hard on it but this is not really easy to implement. This feature will make it's way to version 1.1 which will also be in the Marketplace very soon
Except from this feature, we implemented almost every function from Tapatalk into our Board Express app.

I can't find board express on the marketplace.
Is it not available to some regions? I'm in Ireland.
Thanks

Sadly, at the moment Board Express is not available in the WP7 Marketplace, because we have problems with the Microsoft Certification Test..
We submitted the App twice now, and on every submission, they find a new error which is kind of disappointing. Why don't they find all the errors on the first time so you don't have to wait seven more days?
But we keep going and we hope, that Board Express will be available soon

Bummer, hopefully we'll see it soon, and hopefully xda will purchase a branded version of the app for the rest of us to use!

Lots of developers seem to be very disappointed because of this approval process
We'll send it in again tomorrow..
Would be great if xda-developers would have interest in a branding version.

You can access xda-developers with the standard Board Express App The advantage is, that with Board Express you can access over 8'000 other forums.

I see that vbulletin support is listed, but does it support the heavily modified Something Awful forums which is based on an very old version of vbulletin ?
It is a pay site and I would happily buy you a login if it meant support could be added.

At the moment, "Someting Awful" is not supported. Has the forum owner installed the Tapatalk Plugin? It's completely free. Please ask him to install Tapatalk and I'm confident, that Board Express will support "Something Awful" afterwards.

Sadly not - we, like many others, have big problems with the certification for the Windows Phone Marketplace.. We're working on it hard, but it seems that on every submission, Microsoft finds some new errors, some of them are not even listed in their documents..

It'd be nice if some of you guys working on it take a really hard look at the Metro design specs. While the application idea is nice, it looks out of place. Make more use of different font sizes, proper padding and make use of the accent and ancillary colors, ditch as much of the lines as possible.

This won't happen. Matter of fact is, even tho the page bottom still says VBulletin, it's so heavily modified and parts rewritten, it's almost its own forum software.

We'll have a look into the design, as soon as the App is being published! First priority is to get the App in the Marketplace

Not such a bad thing. I mean If I downloaded your app and it crashed/hung/froze/restarted/etc I would write the app of as crap and *maybe* never use it again. Look on the bright side of the situation

Board Express runs very smoothly, no crashes, no hungs, no freezes, no restarts... since the first version, we submittet to the Marketplace (This was never a reason, why we did not get approved). Microsoft does not really test the above things.. A lot of Apps in the Marketplace are very laggy.. Microsoft tests other things, which sometimes are ridiculous.
One reason, why they did not approve our app, was the translation of "favorites" (Am) - we used "favourites" (Br.) instead. Microsoft told us, that "favourites" is german, which is 100% wrong ("Favoriten" is german), and that we need to translate everything, including "favourites". (They thought that we missed to translate "favourites")
Another reason was: We submitted a branded version for PocketPC.ch. PocketPC.ch is a Windows Phone 7 and Android Community, this was mentioned in the app description. "Android" is a bad word for Microsoft, so we didn't get approved.
Ridiculous is also, that Microsoft did not note every reason why we did not get approved on the first test, they found one new reason why we do not get approved on every submission. And on every submission, you have to wait 3-7 days until Microsoft checks your App again. And after every check, after you got the result, that your App has not been approved, you have to wait 1-3 days on the reasons, why your App did not get approved.
But good news: Today, the branded Client of PocketPC.ch got approved and we resubmitted the two Board Express versions and we hope that we get approved this time

Finally, Board Express Pro got approved
Here's the link: Board Express Pro (Works only with IE). At the moment, Board Express Pro is not yet indexed in the Marketplace, this will happen in the next 24 hours.
We hope, that Board Express gets approved soon

Weeehaa

Just installed this on my Mozart. First great app, second, please give the option to remove the signature it inserts on posts or at least not link directly to your website.
I'm keeping my eye out for bugs.

Linux for Kaiser?

Is there a way to run Linux on a TytnII (Kaiser)? Detals/links, please.
Harold Fuchs

round here we use something called search. It is up at the top right hand corner you see. If you were to use that thing and type in what you're looking for you would find what you are looking for.
http://www.google.com/cse?cx=000825...&q=linux+kaiser&cof=FORID:0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8
Really glad that search has finally made it to your neck of the woods. Now all you have to do is learn to use it effectively. The link you gave returns 10 results none of which answers the question.
One of these days courtesy will make to "over there" too.
Actually that search returned 896 (only 10 on each page though), but anyway I think this is the best place to start looking.....

You will probably need to read through the most of thread to get a good idea of the current situation.
Thank you.

that attitude makes this place very new user unfriendly.
Why not change the forum so if you have less than 100 posts you can only use the search function.. that way it would save people like you having to press F5 every 5 mins so you can jump on the next new post to reply with
OMG search!!!

How many times does it need to be said that this is a "developer site" (don't believe me, have a look at the URL), not a "spoon feed site"? If you are not willing to spend 5 - 10 minutes searching prior to creating another thread for a topic that has been covered here several times, then you deserve to be ridiculed.
What makes the OP even more ridiculous is that it's not just asking a simple question like "Can the Kaiser run Linux?" Instead, they add "Details/links", which indicates they expect someone else to go and do all of the work for them.
And by the way, courtesy is a 3-way street and it takes 2 to use the carpool lane.
Thank you NotaTreoFan
and I would think this link covers it, which is one of the top returns in what I posted before.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=382491&page=3
I'm sorry that I'm not willing to dig through all those links for your research. Now when someone comes in and actually uses search to find out if there is Linux on the Kaiser, they will have to dig through your redundant threat. So you just added to the mess. Thanks.
Lastly, you come to this site, which is rich and full of information. The admins and mods spend lots of time making it so that all the information is available to you, they post street signs and try to keep it all simple enough to use. All this is done to make your life and our lives easier, but you can't use all these things implimented for you as a courtesy. Imagine if there was no search?
None of those actually answer the question and show you how to put an actual Linux distro on your phone. Sure you can put Android, but it's unusable. I've actually seen videos of people putting Linux on their Dell Axim, but the Kaiser would be different, since you need phone support.
No it doesn't say, "linux doesn't work on the phone" but quotes like
Realistically... I see the following happening: Sometime in the next 6 months someone gets linux to boot on this phone (to the effect that it can be used as a mini-workstation). Within the next year someone gets an actual kernel that give us phone functionality and base drivers so we can actually run a linux phone and get "basic" functionality. Over the next year (so year two now) this continues to get developed. Maybe at the end of year two we have a pretty nice functioning linux-based phone.

As of yet, Linux won't run on it, and the chances are not ery good that it will run Linux in the near future, because Qualcomm, who makes the processor/system on a chip that runs the PDA has not released the detailed specs for it. Ifyou want to run Linux on a PDA I suggest buying an old iPAQ, or even one of those Sharp Zauruses (Zauri?) that already come with Linux by default.

I'm actually enjoying it so far. I'm not quite as tech savy as some of you out there so it works just fine for me. Has most of the options I want and i didnt have to throw a bunch of tweaks at it to get them (yet anyway). As long as it doesn't break like my other three hermes' i'll be fine with it (even though i sorta broke the last one, it was already on it's way out with keys not responding). I'll give HTC a year or two to work out some of their issues and try an HTC phone out again then.

That's why it's in the off-topic forum... Right place to ask, as lots of people on here are interested in pocket PC's and not just HTC devices. I don't JUST like HTC products, but in generalized forums you don't find nearly as much information about each device.
Thank you for the replies. Sorry to cause such a commotion, I really liked the support and friendliness (up until now anyway) of these boards and I was hoping to find that for my Iphone somewhere...

Yeah, I mean, why would he ever expect people on this forum to try to help him out even if it's not something they love? The issue is that the people who don't like the iPhone feel the need to force their opinions down others' throats, even when a simple question is asked in the correct forum. The original poster was 0% in the wrong here, all he wanted was the same support for his new phone. It's like everyone has told me since I've come here, if your post doesn't contribute to the forum, why are you posting? Do I love the iPhone? No. Would I ever buy one for myself? Hell no. Am I going to bash a kid for asking where to get support for his? No, I'll share what information I have and move on. I feel like your post is just condoning flaming people that have a different view than yours and saying it's okay to do... It's not.
Edit: Realized mod needed to move the thread, so the OP was 5% in the wrong... Now he's all set.

My first part was going to mention the moving of the thread, but I see you've noticed it. The point of the statement is, there are randomly iPhone threads that pop up here and there, and nobody wants to help with them, since it's the competition. My reply was not an open invitation for rude comments, just simply putting, if you ask a WM community about an iPhone, don't expect 100% help and participation like the rest of the WM threads.

The Samsung Omnia thread doesn't look right in an HTC forum, nor do the many threads of off-topic discussing the bible, or even the thread the guy made for his 2 year old daughter who's going through a really rough time... That's why it's the off-topic section, where you can find help for things other than HTC phones. Am I losing my mind, or is that the entire reason the creators of XDA-Dev came up with this section? I don't know about you, but I wanted to help the guy regardless of him owning an Apple product over HTC, that's why I posted relevant and useful information. Apparently people aren't here "just to help" like I originally thought this forum was about, they're here "just to help those who like our brand"... I missed the fine print.

I just don't like the selective discrimination here, it's okay to not help someone because it's an iPhone, but if someone comes asking for help with a Fuze unhelpful posts are frowned upon? The attitude of "you can't expect better" is one that holds the forum down, let's just try to be more helpful no matter what the topic.

Yeah I saw that, I think it's pretty sad... 6th graders have nothing better to do than try to put down things they feel threatened by. As I said I'm not a fan of the iPhone myself, but it's a good phone, and once some bugs are worked out (HTC never has bugs, right?) it'll definitely compete with the best. Also, when an iPhone has a problem you take it to an Apple store and they replace it at the Genius Bar with no problems if it's something they can't fix. If your Touch Pro has a problem? Get ready to ship it out and wait 2 weeks. Yellow spots on screens, fuzziness, not nearly as crisp as the Euro version's screen... Those are problems we've seen out of the box in the first week of the US version, and luckily they show up quick so they can be returned to the retailer. If you have problems with it in a month? Well, I hope you have a backup.

Ok I understand your point now mate
So you will understand mine also, it´s no matter of how good or bad is the iphone, it´s the fact that we are on an HTC devices forum.
Is like if I go to the Toyota forum and post how wonderfull is my Ford or if someone can recommend me a part.
HTC has a lot of bugs also but thanks to this fantastic HTC forum we can have and share so many ROM´s software and knowledge!
By the way HTC HD would really beat Iphone
Cheers

I'm so glad to know you became moderator! Because, as far as I've seen, the mods let discussions continue about other phones. They say they won't make a sub-forum for them, which makes sense, but discussion in off-topic about other phones (as you can see there are many threads about the Omnia in off-topic) are permitted. So until you get a little badge that says "moderator" or "administrator", I don't see why you feel you have the final say on others asking about different phones. In EVERY SINGLE THREAD that isn't about an HTC device you have to jump in and say why the thread shouldn't be there, yet the moderators who make the decisions allow it to be. Let them run the forum.

Hey Yorzua, beautiful themes you have there! I found these when I was trying to download the smali kit you had on the other post but the link was bad. I'm trying to learn smali code and I think that would have helped but what happened to it??

About my tutos, i had to close them after an issue with MODS and far from me the idea to damage XDA in any way but some admins should pay more attention to the quality of the MODS 's rules sometimes...
However, check my tutos in my website linked in my signature : i will upload there as soon as possible my Smali kit for you

That's true, theme Chooser has limitations of course.
My question still is, are u asking for a donation and then an email in order to get the theme? If so, that's a shame.

Don’t use XDA to advertise your product or service. If you are no longer sharing your work for free, then this is advertising a paid or otherwise unavailable product, and this thread is therefore defunct.
XDA is a developer and sharing oriented community. It's not a place to come and gain your fame and glory by charging people for themes.
That is all.

Stated above by mods, please keep the thread clean and keep the discussion based on the stated topic above. This way it'll cause less issues and won't waste the moderators time.
So late night browsing gave me a little surprise. Turns out Google's next update consists of many new fixes that we all know were bugging us in previous updates. This may be old news for some but frequently new for me and others. Thankfully there are a few leaked images and content but till now, not everyone's certain about the update but many things are confirmed. As you can see below there is an image for a new Google Dialer which supposedly brings in colour. Not a huge change but its far from being plain and blant. Perhaps it'll pack in some extra built in features?

What sites?
Take a look at this guys - http://bgr.com/2014/04/14/sprint-nexus-5-android-4-4-3-kitkat-update/ I'm not sure if its true but I wouldnt expect the update to roll out straight away.
The publish date was on 14th so I highly doubt it was legitimate. And according to a couple of other articles on the site the update launches in a few weeks. So I don't know which to go with.

It's more like.. "new news for a few".. The other thread had over 2-3 lakh views with 750+ comments and it was a stickie thread and the images and the features you've listed in the OP is also old news which was released a long time ago.. :silly:
Anyways, I guess it was an honest mistake.. Peace! :cyclops:
I guess so ahahah, at least new news to me, I guess I'm a bit slow ?

In addition to the date being old, the list of fixes seems a bit strange. First it says there's a fix for random reboot. I feel like that's incredibly generic. Also, isn't the power management wakelock just an umbrella term for almost all wake locks? Not sure how they would be able to "fix" that. I'm new to all this thought so I could be wrong.

This is a post i wrote on April 10th, i still stand by it, i find it unlikely that we will get anything official before I/O.

STRAIGHT FIRE!!!!!
I saw a commercial last night when my KINGS were cooking up some Duck about Sprint's exclusive Tri-Band network. I happen to fall into that category of Sprint users who will benefit from the additional bands. Since the advertising is starting to roll, maybe the update isn't too far off either.
There were 'tumbleweeds' blowing through the other 4.4.3 post, almost completely dead. Yet it was closed down for an imaginary torrent of off topic posts.
So might as well close this one down as well.

Or try to keep this thread on topic, since I liked going to the old one to read up on new 4.4.3 rumors.
Google voice voIP service in being shut down in the upcoming weeks. Is it possible we may see a 4.4.3 update released along side? Or will they make us wait until IO in June? If that happens, will 4.4.3 just become 4.5, or do 4.5 rumors not really exist, and it's actually 5.0 rumors which will most likely occur with the next nexus phone release.

I'm not sure why people keep bringing up May 15th as the cutoff date for voip on GV as to when some big release will happen. Nothing magical is going to happen on that day. I wouldn't expect Google to merge GV into Hangouts until I/O at the earliest. And even then, it is not a given that it will include VOIP.

Works perfectly fine, scrolls fast too. I like this app, might use it as my daily app for reddit. Reminds me of a combination of bacon reader and reddit sync.
There is a bug though on a reddit post containing a link as the op post. I can never seem to get go the page with all the comments and whatnot as you normally would in a text submitted post.

You are Waiting For your OPO, Am waiting for your Feedback. !!! :fingers-crossed:
I have been using this for a couple of weeks now and it works great. Except one thing. Clicking a link to another reddit post causes the app to crash.
I just downloaded it. Thank you for your contribution. I just wanted to note some things I've noticed and would appreciate improved. Upon launching the application, I had to hit refresh inorder for the thumbnails to load. I also noticed there is no seamless way getting into the comment section of a post (possibly I'm not looking in the right place?). And lastly, there is no indication for a post that I've already clicked on (blue link->purple/change color of text).
This is all i can report on now but they aren't major issues. I'll definitely continue to use your app and continue to give you feedback if I come across anything else.
I really appreciate the time and effort you took to make this app:highfive:

Just started using it, and I immediately don't like the interface very much. There's nothing separating the texts. The usernames, points, etc are just laid out right after each other with no indications or dividers. Also, I think each post could be a bit smaller, maybe fit more on the screen. Just my 2 cents.
