[preview] WP7 style icons SQUARED - Android Themes

As i am abit bored about my phones layout i made this "preview" of icons which i could make. Just want to get feedback for now, made a preview so you can see how it would look like. I will also write a short guide on how to get this done with ADW launcher and Desktop visualizer (both free apps on market)
here is the preview:

I'm not a big fan of this style but I really like the way your's is set up and willing to change my mind about this style. I hope you release it. great job.

It's basically what I'm using now. I would be willing to use your tiles.
Sent using my Vibrant

I like the preview. I would use the tiles. Thanks for the creativity!

Just came out of the win7 style phase, but i would probably jump straight back in with your tiles! Very nice indeed
Sent from my GT540 using XDA App

Thanks for feedback, will wait abit more and than start making them and the guide...
cheers

I started working on a complete wp7 theme with themed ADW launcher aswell. I will theme the notification bar also but this needs to be done for each phone and firmware separately so i wont be able to share it.

Nice one! Couldn't you do it like the zune launcher and have the tiles scroll down the homescreen. That would be cool but i just realized it wouldn't be possible as an adw theme

Never tryid it, i will take a look when i get home and perhaps swich to it Can you resize widgets in it? Or set rows? If this is not possible than the launcher can not work

doesnt this work with launcher pro? looks quite good, better than the common windows mobile style

hm i dont know, i couldn't find a way to fit 2 2x2 icons + an aditional icon. I know it has a 5 row option but it doesn't work. In adw i got this with a 6 row setup, but i played for like 1 min not more. The image is made in photoshop so it's not an actual layout... It can be done tho

Your layout is possible. below is a shot of my homescreen.
Im using launcher pro, desktop visualizer, and tiles that are 250px by 250px,
columns and rows are both set to 10.
Make some tiles and I will try them out. I would suggest either losing the semi-transparent bar at the bottom of the tiles and increasing the text OR increasing the transparent bar in height by almost double and increasing the text. Only reason I say this is because all of the other wp7 theme tiles with actual photos as tiles have the exact same transparent bar at the same height. Basically looks like all the other tiles just squared.

Hm, i took the "design" from the original icons, all was rushed, maybe ill create other types, however atm i am modifiying ADW launcher and have in mind a slyghtly different setup than yours. Smaller tiles with one free row on the right and the menu button centered below.

very nice idea ^~^ But all of those should be the same style like windows phone 7

Atm i am working on some project for ASC. Will see when i finnish that and than come back for icons. The squared ones are my next project

Really loving this idea. great work! If you are making a theme for ADW Launcher, that would be great plus you should add the icons into that and it would be awesome!

I came across these by accident and figured I would share...
About half of these look like they were ripped from iPhone themes, but a good pack nonetheless. Fair variety, and they are all good quality PNGs, which makes it easy. Thanks.

That works if you care about changing what you see in the App Drawer. If you only care about what you see on home screens, a much easier way for the average user is to just download Desktop Visualizer from the Market. Combined with Launcher Pro for your dock, you are limited only by the PNG images you can find or make.
It depends on how far you need to take it.

Actually I am interested in changing the app drawer icons. And though much appreciated, the above post to the directions seems like a long way to go to achieve this.
Is there an easier way? I actually bought an icon theme for ADW.launcher and I love the home screen icons, but for some reason the developer made the drawer icons completely different and I hate them. I have found some icons that I like, that match the home screen icons.
Surely there must be a way to change all the icons at once instead of the above directions.
Thanks in advance for any responses.

I love that dude's set up.
Mine is minimal and simple using a black back screen with very clean and small things on the main page.
I'd like to mix it up and try something different.
For reference, here's mine:
That's Launcher Pro with Desktop Visualizer. DV just lets you make a widget that is an app button for any app with any PNG image you want for the icon. Head over to the Launcher Pro website here for a good thread of homescreens with lots of info: http://www.launcherpro.com/forum/vi...d=f659d9b40749e84b4ca91213bea40038&start=2490

I thanked you, because I appreciate the reply and posting up a link for me, but it's the images that I'm most interested in.
I'm going to search that thread to see where it takes me, but I wish there were just a theme I could bounce onto my phone with that type of layout pre-done.
I know that I'm going to get into it, not be able to make it as nice, not like the end result, and then not be able to get my current screen back to this way either.
Update: Found exactly what I was looking for and I know how to use it due to plenty of previous fooling around with Desktop Visualizer. Now I just need to find some time to go at it.

thanks! these are awesome! keep up the good work
Side note: 404 views and not one thanks? I know posting a quick reply saying thanks is so much work, but to not even press the thanks button, which takes half a second literally...you all suck donkey balls
i hope this works on coredroid~
oh wait..this is not a flashable zip..LOL nvm..idk how to work this stuff
I find it really cool icons and I think they would go very well with the style CoreDroid. Just one thing I noticed by taking a quick look, I think we should use as little icons can be bases on the stock as for example the camera, but always in style as the example device photo is an image in "three D". I think that on this basis and with more icons in the style of the camera, you could do something even bigger.
This is only my humble opinion Android users since some time now, and I find it stand out even more icons icons Android IPhone to which everyone tends to return more or less.
Good luck to continue your work, I will follow you essayerde regularly to see the evolution.
Sorry for bad English, it's a google translation, myself not practicing very little English.
Good luck and next steps!

Don't worry about it, I probably should have explained, these are just small 92x94 pixel images that can be set as the shortcut images for apps. You'll need to use a home launcher that allows you to customise shortcuts or an app which will do the same job if you're using the Rosie launcher, for example;
Folder Organizer
Desktop VisualizeR
Those two apps above are free by the way!

I'm not sure I entirely get what you mean but I know that Coredroid is heavily themed and I'm assuming they have their own Camera icons. Are you interested in Sense 3.0 styled icons to go with the Coredroid theme?
If so that can be arranged! Let me know though or else I won't bother doing them (laziness strikes).
The Template you've added, i wanted to create an icon with that, but do i need Photoshop installed to get the transparency ? I guess W7 Paint won't cut it? XD

I wasn't actually sure about this so I attempted it to be thorough and a warning popped up letting me know all transparency would be lost so... no dice!
You should be able to do it with gimp if I remember correctly which has the added bonus of being free!
Thanks for these, they look amazing!

Transparence Dock icons for go launcher
HELP!
trying to get the old Go Launcher 2.3 beta transparent icons for my new galaxy 3. They're available under the Transparence Dock app but are only for the dock. Does anyone have/know where I can find/ can create these for use as regular icons? I'm old school. I like the simplicity and the "barely there, but still identifiable" icons. I can't find ANYTHING I like as well...
Even if you could point me to the correct theme- much appreciated.

Hey guys,
this is an icon set which I created for Desktop Visualizer, and also my first release here on XDA.
This icons are in "2x1" size and you can dispose them as you wish.
In the next days I'll release more icons, even with different size and style.
To apply:
Of course you need Desktop Visualizer installed on your phone
Long press on the screen
Select "Desktop Visualizer(2x1)"
Tap the icon
Tap "Select Icon"
Tap "Image File" (if you have the DVRImageSlicer addon you can also choose "Add-Ons" > "NoPaddingPicker" which give better quality images with some launchers)
Select the image
Select the action, clear the laber, remove the touch effect color and press OK.

Guys, come on! I need your opinions and feedbacks! Please tell me what you would change (or keep) and I'll try to do my best!
The icon themselves look great to me! Perhaps your display pictures could show them tiled on a Homescreen? Other sized tiles would make a good addition too so people can mix and match and have different tile layouts?
Keep up the good work!

With GO Launcher EX you can really dispose them as you prefer since you can resize the widgets:
And of course I'll release more different size icons (1x1, 4x1 etc.) to create different layouts, but obviously only if I see a bit of interest by you guys, otherwise I'll just stop wasting my time and I'll keep the entire work for my private use
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is the previous/old project, what you think about? Do you like this style?

I love the concept of tiles but I didn't like the design as much. So I decided to design custom tiles of my own. Turns out, Launcher7 is impressively customisable and creates some good looking themes.
Anyway, I wanted to share with you the tiles and wallpaper I have made and future work so that you too, can experience the best of WP7's concept with a much more appealing design!

So, you like? Just choose a theme and click the tile pack, download .zip and place the icon pack in your SD card.
I will update packs as often as I can along with completely new ones!
FYI, these haven't been tested on screens other than HDPI, 480X800.
If you have problems I will try and provide edited versions.
Extra notes: To get the transparent status bar, I used the built in WP7 status bar option in settings (or you can find themes available for your phone with a transparent bar.
As you notice in one of the themes, the arrow looks modded, but in actual fact I designed the wallpaper in a way it disguises the arrow. I will try an edit the apk soon and have a look, but I'm not too good in that department. And for people asking about what appears as facebook integration, they are images I've added to the .png myself so they aren't really integrated I'm afraid. I hope you can use the template tiles I provide to try it yourself

Does nova prime allow for larger icons on the gear?

I only have the free version even on my phone so I can't check it myself. I want to make my direct dial shortcut icons bigger. The default size is pretty small. Anybody have a screenshot of the larger icons? Thanks
you get the option to increases the size up to 130% on icon size, But I can tell you that is not much.
However, you can do what I did. I created a picture with my contacts on it, and the used UCCW to make each contact a hot spot that when pressed direct dials them. This way I am no longer limited to the size of icons or the look of icons, I create the pic I want and make it behave the way I want.
Here is how my contact screen looks, it is just one large pic with hot spots created. (I fuzzed out the pics for posting)

this is the max you can get. 130%.
maybe with a custom widget you can create shortcuts with bigger image..

Quite a interesting app.. nice alternative to touchwiz.
I use widgetsoid for this. Make a widget that points to an app (it uses the apps icon) remove the background and indicator and then resize the widget to the size you like. You can make a template so all you have to do is point to the app to create one.
