[Q] Where can I find the T-Mobile US Galaxy Tab Stock Firmware/ROM? - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone have a location to download the stock/official T-Mobile US Galaxy Tab firmware (I've seen the links on samfirmware dot com but those aren't for the US version).
Thanks in advance!

I need this myself.. I need the modem.bin file

Exactly... I need that dang modem.bin to (hopefully) fix the 3g issues post JK1 flash.

have u been able to surf in Edge mode ? mine always redirect me to tmobile site

Stock full firmware needed
I am also looking for the stock full firmware for T-Mobile. I am currently on a Euro Firmware and Yes I can surf the we using edge - I am using Simple Mobile which is running off of T-Mobile. when I was on T-Mobile firmware I was getting 3G speeds at 4mbs download and 1.5mbs upload now on edge I'm lucky if I get 100k up or down.

Nope, same here: T-mobile redirect. Wifi only at the moment.
I pulled my SIM from my Vibrant and put it into my Tab... have you tried going back to your Vibrant? For some reason, now my Vibrant is saying Emergency Call Only with the original SIM. Maybe T-Mobile has black-listed it... not sure.

I got data working.. I had to hack some files.. but I got it working.. in Edge mode. just need the tmobile usa modem.bin file and we are Golden.
I have another TAB sitting beside me its tmobile usa version also.. anyone know how I can Extract the Modem.bin file from it ?

Try doing a Dump with Odin - and just to let you know I only flashed with Euro Firmware and edge was working - no need to put in US Modem (especially if your still only getting edge)

how do u dump with odin ?
u need the stock us modem.bin so it will get 3g.. We are almost there

At the very bottom right there is a feature for Dump - you may have to put Tab in upload mode which I believe is "vol up + vol dn + Power"
And let me appologize - I seem to have misunderstood your post - I understood that you were able to get Edge working with the US Modem firmware.
Yes you are Correct - US Modem will probably get us back on 3G but I think there is a better chance if someone were to Cook a Rom based on the US Version

I got Edge Working using the Euro Version.. the problem is the euro version modem.bin file doesnt support the AWS band the us uses so edge only.
what stink I got another tablet here beside me if I just can figure out how to get it extracted

Sure it does, I'm using 3G on my Eur ROM as we speak....

I dont get 3g on mine. only EDGE r you ising a USA Tmobile Galaxy Tab with Euro Rom ?

So How did you get 3G working - please share

There is a command you can run via adb that will dump the modem.bin file on the sdcard .
I forgot what it is but you guys can ask on the i9000 forums as it was posted there some months ago.

If you are on a stock T-Mobile US Tab, can you try this:
1. Run Odin 1.7 first (without your Tab connected)
2. On your Tab, Hold Power + Vol Down + Home until the yellow download mode screen shows up
3. Connect USB to your Tab which should make Odin wake up and find it (it will say "Added")
4. Run the "Dump" command at the bottom of the Odin window...
What kind of file(s) does that give you?
Please post results for posterity!

give ms a stock.odin3.dump

You'll need to be rooted to do this via ADB.
Fire up ADB shell then:
Code:
su (accept the prompt on the phone)
dd if=/dev/block/bml1 of=/sdcard/bml1.dump bs=4096
dd if=/dev/block/bml2 of=/sdcard/bml2.dump bs=4096
dd if=/dev/block/bml3 of=/sdcard/bml3.dump bs=4096
dd if=/dev/block/bml4 of=/sdcard/bml4.dump bs=4096
dd if=/dev/block/bml5 of=/sdcard/bml5.dump bs=4096
dd if=/dev/block/bml6 of=/sdcard/bml6.dump bs=4096
dd if=/dev/block/bml7 of=/sdcard/bml7.dump bs=4096
dd if=/dev/block/bml8 of=/sdcard/bml8.dump bs=4096
dd if=/dev/block/bml9 of=/sdcard/bml9.dump bs=4096
dd if=/dev/block/bml10 of=/sdcard/bml10.dump bs=4096
dd if=/dev/block/bml11 of=/sdcard/bml11.dump bs=4096
dd if=/dev/block/bml12 of=/sdcard/bml12.dump bs=4096
That dumps your entire system directory to your PC in a /system directory (from where you ran ADB).
bml12 has your modem. But you'd need a real dev to tell you how to rebuild this into a flashable ROM.

Can someone help to extract new modem rom in ZSJI1 released 8Sept in Hong Kong?

Know that a new modem rom ZSJI1 will be patched if you send the phone to samsumg repair center after 8Sept in Hong Kong. The new rom is an ad-hoc built to cater some critical issues with 3 and make the i9000 hang / disconnect frequently.
As I don't want to send my phone to samsung and erase all my current setting, can someone who did extract the ZSJI1 modem rom such that we can patch it with odin?
I tried JP2 modem, with JM7 PDA. It seems to have solve any issue with 3 in HK.

[Q] Flash T-mobile SGH-T849

I picked up a T-mobile Tab when I was in US and I want to use it in Europe with all European functions. Can I flash it to become equal to an European sold model?
Do I need to get the SIM unlock done first?
After I have done this, can I use KIES to do normal upgrades?
Thanks!
Bump
Still interested if anyone have flashed a US-Tab to Euro and then got it to work with Kies (doing upgrades etc).
I'm aware of the differences in modems support, but that is not an issue for me.
follow the steps
I have bought a T-Mobile tab a week ago and i have changed the Firmware with the European version to enable the dialer and then unlocked the phone with the hex edit by rotohammer first post.
So here is what you need to do
1) flash a euro firmware (get the latest from samfirmware.com)
and follow the instructions carefully.
2) unlock the device using the hack provided on the post here

Samsung SHG T849
I am a newbie. If I am in the wrong forum please redirect me.
My problem is that while flashing my t-mobile Samsung G tab using odin3 the power in my house went out and I am now bricked.
I get a logo that shows a graphic of a phone 2 dots and a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in the middle, another 2 dots and a graphic of a PC.
When I try to get the download mode I cannot but I could get into a mode "Power reset or unknown upload mode" when I press both the 'up' and 'down' volume key at the same time as when I press the 'power on' key.
The logo would recycle every few seconds even if I try to power off.
I tried to let the battery run out and when I recharge the tab. the same thing repeats.
You need to re-flash using Odin!

I figured I would have to do that. Unfortunately my Sammy would not power down. It kept looping, off and on and when it was on, it gave me either the 'logo' or the 'power reset' message, both of which I described above. I even let the battery run down and upon recharge it immediately went into the loop I mentioned.
I tried to connect it to my PC but the PC would not recognize it at all. I checked to make sure I have the right drivers and I do.
I am hoping some one would know how to get the boot sequence working without having to physically open the pad.

I had to wait awhile to reply because the tab went dead - no power. I tried to recharge it but it did not hold enough power to let me complete the task.
I am recharging it for 24 hours hoping that it will hold enough charge to let me complete the task.
In the meantime I located several sites for Odin3 v 1.7 but I was unable to get the same pack as ayman019 had which probably came from you rotohammer. will it be possible to get the link so I will have the right software/firmware?
(I located P1000XXJHA.rar files but I am having difficulties unzipping it. Each time I try it asks for a password. or would not even allow me to unzip it at all)

Horrible guide. Setup for failure and no support.
There is hardly any need for this old firmware. You can always run any European GB rom for P1000 as long as you keep T-Mobile modem you get 3g or use jpz modem and you get voice.
And with roto modem switcher you can even switch between voice and 3g.
The link in my signature is overcome links. It has gb jq1 rom and method to flash it.

Sprint Tab ROM? JME?

Didn't someone get JME Rom working on CDMA Sprint Tabs? By changing the build name around?
I cant find the post, but who ever it is, please give us more details. How'd you do it? Do you recommend it? How is it holding up? Does it brick anything (GPS, MODEM?)
Thank you!
I did it to my Sprint Galaxy Tab, original post here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=929898)
I had to remove movinand.mst and it flashed fine using Odin, I just followed the directions there.
HOWEVER, the way I did it will make the Tab WIFI Only with no known way to get back until someone can figure out how to dump the sprint stock modem.bin.
That is fine with me as I did not want the 3G, but did want the Bluetooth HID. (now my Bluetooth Mouse and Keyboard work)
You might be able to pull the modem.bin file out as well as movinand.mst but I have no idea what that would do, sounds very risky.
M.
did that brick your GPS though?
I use it as WIFI Only as well.
How does the JME run on the tab?
Can you upload the exact JME rom you updated for us CDMA users who are kind of new at this? That is if you still have the version you edited for the Sprint?
If there's one thing I learned with flashing ****.... as long as you don't **** with the radio you can't really mess it up. With that said, don't flash a new modem (radio)
exactly then, cant we just have all these ROMs take out the Modem.bin, wouldn't it be flashable to CDMA then? or no
Yes it borked the GPS as I flashed with the modem file to get rid of sprint, works fine so far and I can use my Bluetooth mouse and keyboard now, had to reinstall all apps though.
I just Flashed Roto's JMG last night, will see how that goes.
I used the ROM from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=894763 and took out movinand with 7zip.
I assume you could take out the modem file as well or try the update version.
I would put in a request to Rotohammer to make one for the CDMA tabs without modem and movinand to be safe.
No idea if flashing without the modem file will fry the CDMA modem as I cant test this do to no one being able to get the stock Sprint modem dumped yet.
M.
I have no experience in doing this so I was curious on just how someone would go about dumping the stock Sprint Modem? also would we be able to use the epic 4G's modem since it's similar? or would that not work due to the epic having 4G and being a different device? If I knew what direction to go I'd certainly be interested in getting in to this more.
Now if someone can just confirm how to flash without killing the modem, we'll be cooking with gas!

I know that file name is floating around as a flashable "almost stock" ROM that has the Epic 4G modem inserted, so you can recover your sprint tab but lose gps. I would get someone who has already borked their gps by flashing to test it and see if it fixes it before everyone goes flashing this ROM.
If I was doing a restore using the files posted I would not flash the modem.bin. That's what breaks the Tab, not the software.

First-is your sim in correctly? Does it have voice and data? If ok here . . .
You need to flash a modem.bin file, then set the apn.
To flash a modem, put the tab in download mode, start odin on pc, then connect tab to pc. Click phone button, and select your modem. I would try the JPZ modem, but someone can suggest a better modem for your region/carrier.
APN settings are in the settings/wireless networks/access points. You will have to google "my carrier name apn settings" to get those. Sometimes you get lucky and the rom has the apn's in a database and the apn will be there when you check.

[Guide] Change Note 9 CSC Without Root - Easy Guide

I followed a guide by XDA User applepay from this link, but just wanted to try and simplify it because i found it pretty complicated to understand at first.
It would be worth reading that thread before this even if it doesn't make sense. Please also read this complete thread before you attempt it.
I have only followed the guide so i can't answer any questions to help. I am not responsible for any problems you run into. This is just a guide of what I did to get mine to work.
I was successful using my SM-N960F going from CSC XME to TEL.
I cannot confirm that this method will work on other models, but i don't see why not considering the guide was originally for a S9.
Make sure you select your exact model when downloading files and flashing files. Using other model firmware may brick your phone.
Backup your files! I used Smart Switch on windows. This method will wipe your phone in the process.
Use the original usb cable you got in the box and install the Samsung USB drivers if you haven't already.
I have confirmed on my device that OTA updates work fine after this procedure.
Please comment if you think there is a better way or there is an error in this guide.
Download your combination file from here
Download your new CSC firmware from here
Download Samsung Odin 3.13.1 from here
Download RealTerm from here
1. Open Odin.
Click AP and select your combination file.
Put your Note 9 into download mode by turning it off completely, then holding the volume down and bixby buttons while inserting the usb cable. Confirm that you want to enter download mode.
Click start in Odin.
Once this is complete, your phone should boot into the combination firmware and show your model number. Close Odin.
2. Open RealTerm and go to Port tab.
Set Baud to 230400 and Select Port to ssudmdm0000 or very similar name.
Click the change button.
Go to Send tab.
Enter "AT" and click Send ASCII.
If you get a response like
"+USB READY
BOOTING COMPLETED
AT"
or
"AT"
or
"OK"
or
"BOOTING COMPLETED
AT"
Proceed to the next number.
If you didn't get a response click +CR and send again.
If you get a response like "ERROR" proceed to the next number.
Still if you didn't get a response check your phone status and cable status.
If everything is normal proceed to the next number.
If still you didn't get a response it means your phone or cable is not normal status.
3. Enter "AT+PRECONFG=1,0" and click Send ASCII.
You will get this response.
AT+PRECONFIG=1,0+PRECONFG:1,???
OK
-??? is your current CSC.-
4. Enter "AT+PRECONFG=2,???" and click Send ASCII.
Enter ??? you want to change to another CSC.
You will get this response.
AT+PRECONFG=2,???+PRECONFG:2,OK
OK
-??? is your changed CSC.-
5. Enter "AT+PRECONFG=1,0" and click Send ASCII.
You will get this response.
AT+PRECONFIG=1,0+PRECONFG:1,???
OK
-??? is your changed, current CSC.-
6. CSC change is now complete. You can now close RealTerm.
7. Open Odin again.
Turn your phone off and then put it into download mode again by holding the volume down and Bixby buttons, then plugging the usb cable in.
Fill each field (BL, AP, CP and CSC) with their respective files from the firmware which has the new CSC.
Use the CSC file in the CSC field, not HOME_CSC.
Click start. This will now wipe your phone completely.
8. Your phone should boot into android and everything should be complete!
Enjoy using VoLTE, VoWiFi and RCS!
Many thanks! Will give it a go.

Odin still won't let you flash firmware files from an other phone model. which is a good thing since csc.md5 contains a pit file that is very much phone model specific....you dont want that. home_csc.md5 dosent but regardless Odin should still throw an error. I wouldint be game to test with the prince Comey edition of Odin that allows you to do this forcefully apply wrong model firmware file. might work... or not
how about future OTAs after ? if I flashed TMO csc will I get all TMO OTAs in future ?

My phone was up to date before I used the latest combination file for my model on that site. I didn't get any errors about downgrading.
As far as OTAs, I'm not sure yet, but worst case is you just need to flash new firmwares by Odin. I think it's definitely worth the trade off to get volte, vowifi and RCS if that's the case
