[App] Lights Off - Windows Phone 7 Apps and Games

I can amuse myself silly until I topple over dead with that stupid game. So I'm making my own version. In special LCD dotmatrix Tron style. Or something.

looks like a lot of fun!
Nice graphics too.

It looks cool!
When can we get it, I would like to write an article about it.
Let me know

Almost done. Needs a little more code polish and I need to make a quite bunch of 5x5 levels. Then I'll submit it. Hopefully as Silverlight application, it doesn't have to go through that silly XBL peer review.

It's submitted. Should be online any time, unless they find the most impossible bugs again.

Toodle do!

Great thanks!!

Looks awesome - will be checking that out today!

Looks great! Good stuff, man!

Got it! I used to be good at this game haha
Sent from my SGH-i917 using Board Express

Thanks for the support guys.
One of the next days I'm going to update it. Add more preset levels (it's kinda hard to make some that don't look entirely random, I don't get how the iPhone one has like 250 of them) and put a LED Banner mode into it for ****s'n'giggles.

Bought it. I suck at this kind of game, but maybe with practice i'll figure it out. Plus hey, I thought i'd support someone making apps for my phone.
Really nice application. Would be nice to have some extra options (as useless as they may sound). Some light sound effects, an option to either change the colors or to continue to have it match the user's theme color. Also, I find the screen glare effect a bit distracting, maybe an option to turn that off too.
Oh! And run under lock screen would be great too.
Oh, and while I love the tile itself, it looks rather low-res, and the slight white border doesn't really match any of the other tiles on the phone.
Just FYI: Might come off as it sounds like i'm complaining, i'm not, just making suggestions. I appreciate your work and you've done a great job thus far.

Does it lose any information, or why should it run under the lockscreen? The current behavior is that it saves its state and returns to it as it was, bypassing the start animation and all. If the app was left more than five minutes ago, it goes back to the start screen. It saves the current mode, move count and grid layout tho, simply hitting Start again should get you where left off. I figure I could bump that timeout a little higher, tho.
As far as the icon border goes, I did that because on dark themes, the dark background kinda didn't make it stand out on the home screen grid. I figure I have to think of something else.

Android Icon based tabs( Coming Soon - or later )

I don't know how much you guys pay attention to what goes on in the other sections of this forum but since I still own a Fuze as well as the HD2 I wanted to make sure you guys knew what I was still up to.
I made an Android 3D model a bit ago and offered it to the public to use as they wanted if they just asked for the file. Well nobody asked to use him so I guess I can waste some time here and there and get out a set of tabs. I'm not saying it will happen fast, but today I started from scratch with the other models like the phone,MMS,headphones,Footprint,etc..... I have him placed with several of them so far but with all the tabs that are out there right now it will be awhile till I have each of them made.

Just eleven more to do,lol........
Edit: was made later this eveing
New eMail icon. The other one looked odd in that direction plus it didn't allow me to use him at full size to the envelope.
Ok so what would poeple rather see...............
Him in Blue as shown above
or
Green like in the new Web icon?
those look great ...green or blue both are cool looking
Not totally happy with it but you get the idea. I'll just have to redo the shadowing. It's all wrong for the arrow.
How do you guys feel about a TwitterDroid?
Docs tab but I will have to do some work on this one but it's there for the most part.
Contacts......
One more.....What do you think for a weather icon?
I think they are pretty neat, and a little cute. LOL love em. U have a Hero and a Touch Pro, glad I saw these, made my night. Looks like a lot of hard work, nice job.
I have an HD2 and a Fuze(Touch Pro) I do not have a Hero.
Settings ......
I cleaned up the settings icon. I kind of rushed it the last time and short cut doing some things. Even this last one is not fully up to my specs but it will do for now. I have plowed out most of the tabs I'm going to do. Out of 17 total I have 3 more left.
Updated twitter icon possibly???????
they all look great Wil
Most likely the new Music Icon
Pictures & Video
Well I thought I would throw some humor into missed calls. If anybody has any ideas for something better I'm all ears. I can't think of anything I want to render for it.

[ICON] GTX 3D Color Icon Set [Initial Release - 50 icons]

So I have decided to go ahead with this icon set because it's very easy to do and it seems people would use it. So after I do all my apps I will take requests for extra icons, as well as release the resources so others can join in and make their own.

07/13/10: Initial release - 50 icons
If you are looking for instructions on how to change your icons, a great app to use is JWMD Icon Changer. Pretty self explanatory once you have it installed.
im liking it
i'm liking it too, definitely would use this if completed
:
I will definitly use these icons if it become a full set.
Looks great
By the way I am adapting the 3d icons from various sources, would take way too long to do them from scratch. Here is a live screenshot:
like it a lot...definitely would love to use ittttt
i'm getting anxious now, haha
This is new...hey they look really nice. I love also the 3D effect. Mhh strange in the last time there are so many new and good ideas. Please, go on with that. I think a lot of people are waiting for that...
Oh yes pls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
very nice id prefer these because of the color
They look good, but any chance they can be the same size as the standard icons (top row) so they all fit together? Also would you also be making colour toggle icons to go with them as I use alot of them? Thanks

Sorry, not going to base my set on those; Mine are smaller so that they have a small shadow around the box. The official icons from GTX have no shadow, I prefer my own.
Initial release ready for download. 50 icons.
The very good design, thanks your share ~
These look very nice indeed, well done

That's cool, any chance you'll be making a set of toggle icons then to fit in with your icons?
There's a chance... And even if I don't, anyone handy with photoshop can easily make them.
Anyone want to get in on this project with me? I'll be leaving the state next week and won't have pc access, maybe someone could continue the set. Any takers?
Great work! I will be sure to try these out

Customized bootanimation.zips by a professional animator

Hey there guys. I love personalizing my phone so I made a bunch of stuff for it, but one thing I though would interest you guys, and perhaps make me a bit of money for rent, is customized boot animations.
Let me show you what I've got on my phone at the moment, to impress you with my amazing animation powers.
files.myfrogbag.com\4nynwo\medroid3.swf
(copy paste into URL bar, replace \ with / and press go.)
What I am offering is to animate anything you desire for your boot animation. This could very well be similar to my boot animation, your face and name animated. Or it could be an elephant riding a unicycle for all I know.
I have to request that you keep it simple. Animation is a long and hard process, and requires hours of work to make a few seconds of animation. I would not normally charge so little for my services, but I am pretty desperate to pay my rent off.
For 10 whole bucks. I will animate 2 to 10 seconds to personalize your android phone.
That is pretty cool.
Nice work, is animal on the drums not simple enough?

That would require a whole bunch of frame by frame, it could take days, unless you just want that youtube video cut and put into a boot animation, I could do that for you easily enough.
What phone do you have? Would you like anything extra put above/below the video? Like your name or something, or a colour or whatever.
No, not the youtube video.
I'm working on a ROM and thought it would be a sweet boot loader.

That would seriously require a whole bunch more time and effort. I would be willing to do it for like $40 if you really want it.
You can see more of my work at melior.bioviral.net if you're still interested.
LMFAO, $10 for a boot animation.

It might be better to make some boot animatons first and ask for donations later. That is cool though.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say this kid might be offering actual customized animations...not just taking images off the internet. Might be worth ten bucks for something truly custom. Just not for me.
*high five*
Dude, kudos to you for coming up with an enterprising way to make a buck, forget all these haters! Quick question, are you able to do custom boot animations with sound...?

I'm using your app, it's pretty nice. I have a couple of suggestions.
First, the panorama on the first screen seems unnecessary, and makes it somewhat difficult to see shirtaday, about, and dailysteal. Maybe a vertical StackPanel inside a ScrollViewer would work better.
Second, when something is clicked, I immediately see the literal words "Item Name" and other placeholders that change once the data is loaded. The change between those placeholders and the real data is a bit jarring. I'd recommend a simple PerformanceProgressBar in the middle of the page until you have all the data, at which point you can safely display it.
These are only suggestions, feel free to ignore them Again, it's a nice app.
First and foremost THANK YOU for the feedback and constructive criticism.
I have had a rough bout getting v1.1 passed through cert, but it does include less jarring transitions, and a progressbar on each deal page for loading. I am also aware of the placeholder names, and that is on the roadmap to get rid of in the fit and polish section of my big OneNote file I have for this app
The Panorama issue was brought to my attention by another trial user. I tested it with both the trial and purchased app and have found it has something to do with the size of the panorama when the app has the ad bar on the bottom. The paid version kills the add and gives you a 3 row view, and it scrolls much nicer. The reason I went this route was for future deals it would be easy and natural to extend the pano indefinitely. That can always change – im not married to it, just like the way it looks.
Hahaha, I know how enticing a panorama control is I used it in the unreleased version of ArkWords with the beta tools. In the end, I went with a pivot, which functioned better. A pivot wouldn't work well in your case, though. Thanks for the quick reply!
My other app, BART Live (http://bit.ly/BARTLive) uses Pivot really well I think. Once there is more content, I belive the Pano will work well creating a wall of deal site icons. If I have to ditch it, I will. It currently housing a WrapPanel with a custom template that I probably should have made into a button template, but I'm a noob
And I am doing my best to reply to feedback as quick as possible. Its intresting to be on this end of the app scene and having so many avanues of contact. Makes having a smartphone super handy.
I currently have a facebook, twitter, email, and now these forums, for both apps.
Ah, good luck juggling all of that! And good luck with your apps
Thanks for the feedback and intrest. keep an eye out for v1.1!

[APP] Virtual Aquarium - WIP

Hi all,
I've been working on a simple watch display that gives you a virtual aquarium on the watch. Do you happen to know how I'd go about turning it into a widget? As it is, it launches as a normal app and that's fine but I'd like it to be something like a watch face.

I think it's cool to have the tiny fish swimming around, the neon tetras swim around as a shoal and the angelfish float around fairly realistically. If you tap the screen, they swim away from where you tapped. It wouldn't be hard to add some other functionality like the ability to feed them by tapping the top of the screen or something but the app closes when the screen times out.
Any comments?

No offence, it's nice that you're building something, but this is one awful looking aquarium. Perhaps add some water texture, and use better fish images...

Feel free to contribute some better images if you want or if you know someone else that could, point them here. I just used those ones temporarily while I got it to do something. They were resized (badly) from another project I had to fit the Gear screen.
