[Q] Headphones / Inline volume control / call control - HD7 Accessories

Looking to get some Klipsch Image S4 Headphones to compliment my HTC HD7.
The only problem with buying generic 3.5mm earbuds, is of course I lose the call and volume controls which come with the stock earbuds.
So: I want to get a externsion cable with the volume/call contrl buttons, so I can plug my headphones into that cable, and then that cable into the phone.
Anyone seen a product like this?

Their called Mic Adapter's, so go research, google, or ebay "mic adapter" and pick one you like, hope this helps.

To keep the stock feel of my headset, I just bought a small 3.5mm female connector. Then I opened the headsets remote (it is very easy: just pull the buttons up).
There is a little board inside. I removed the cables of the original earbuds and soldered the female connector with fine cable to it. But before trying this, one needs to make sure, that the soldering equipment you have is fine enough because the soldering points are VERY small.
Now I can use any earbud I want, without losing any of the look or functionality the original equipment offered.
The price was approximately 1 Euro + the new headphones.

Replacement headphones
Hi all,
I think my question is simpler. I can't get along with the HTC headphones when I am out running - my ears are a funny shape I guess, so I want to get some earphones with ear hooks. BUT, I really want to keep the microphone and volume controls. Can anyone explain what I should look for. I tried some Philips ones, for iPhone, and they did not adjust volume.
Thanks in advance if anyone could shed some light on this!

I believe the HS-930i or HS-730i are what you're looking for, they don't have any hooks, though.

Thanks Dorian, this is very helpful. I note that the ones you have picked out are specifically for iPhone - am I right in thinking that headphones that provide all functionality for iPhone will also provide all functionality for HTC HD7 as well?

No, I bought Seinheisser Headphones with Mic, it was compatible with the iphone therefore thought the same, paid £65 for these, found out on my return from holiday that they did not work with the HTC Trophy! Everything works bar the Mic! It works very well with my sister in laws iphone!
Hence why I am now trawling the xda forum looking for something that is gauranteed to work! Not willing to spend anymore money on anything else!
I hope this helps,
Will

Thanks Will - that was exactly my concern... you spend a lot of money and they still don't work! And of course shops aren't keen on you putting the earphones in your ear to check! The lack of responses to this suggests to me that, at the moment, there isn't a solution.
Unless someone knows differently...

Solution found?
I contacted HTC directly today (perhaps should have done this first!) and had a very helpful conversation with Mohammed in their support centre.
He pointed me at the Dixons site, which shows lots of accessories, together with product compatibility. This was very helpful.
I have just ordered some Nokia WH-800 earphones from Amazon for 18 GBP plus postage. I think they will do what I require.
I also loved the look of "PowerBeats Sport Headphones red with Control Talk" and I may ultimately go for those, although the price of 120 GBP is a little steep for me.
Anyway, I think I have found a solution!

Was hoping for a replacement set also - I must have odd ears as the htc standards (although sounding good) just don't stay put. I need those inner ear bud things or a full on over head set.
Andyspr - can you let us know if they work for you? Those over ear clips would sort me out!!

Recommendations for Headphones?

My headphone adapter for my MT3G recently stopped working, so I'm going to buy a new one soon, but I figured I might as well get a new set of headphones as well. Would you guys know of any good quality headphones? I'm interested in in-ear bud headphones with a built in mic. Also, would you guys know where I can buy the MT3G 3.5mm adapter? I found one on Amazon, but it's requiring me to buy the headphones with it.
Also a white pair of headphones and adapter is what I'm looking for, since I want it to match my MT3G color
Thanks in advance.
What sort of budget are you looking at? More and more highend in ear monitors (IEMs) are coming out with inline mic versions.
I don't really have a limit on price as of now, but if you know of one of equal quality, as the ones that came with the MyTouch 3G, or better. Send a link my way
http://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Ears-Isolating-Earphones-Microphone/dp/B000X26UTU/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1268359468&sr=8-16
Alittle pricey but companies tend to charge a premium for models with inline mics. You know, because of iPhone users...:-/
There are cheaper from Ultimate Ears too. Shure also offers a couple of models with inline mics.
Lol, that's a "little pricey"? I guess I can set my budget at about $40 then. If I can't find another I'll probably have to buy the ones that come with the MT3G.
Heh... Thats why I asked if you had a budget.
http://www.amazon.com/V-MODA-Earbuds-Headset-iPhone-Compatible/dp/B000WN00FK/ref=pd_sxp_grid_pt_2_2
These aren't half bad, their actual price are $39.90 (you have to add to cart to see the real price). These are on the way out as a new model just came out which is why they are fairly cheap.
Lol I didn't think headphones would cast that much, except for ones built for reasons other than usage on the bus. I might get that last one you showed me, it looks promising for sound and all that, but I don't know if I want something that will break in a few months thanks for the help though
bluetooth
Motorola S9HD. Had a pair (until my daughter broke them). Used everyday for work/gym/home. Music and phone calls. $99 @ Best Buy.

I am super pissed!

mY friends has a mobile shop and the poor guy showed me more than 15 headPhones....
Not ONE PAIR WAS COMPATIBLE WITH my HTC HD7....
The Sony Ericsson ones are working but only the top part is working fine...
ALL I AM LOOKING FOR IS A PAIR that has the small ear buds and a mic...
I am open to any other company...
Or can someone suggest a company website where I can buy them, like HTC.com or Sony Erecisson.com or something...
RAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!
Currently I am using the earbuds that came with the Dell Venue Pro for my HD7. Comfortable enough to wear all day without pain. The mic works, but I'm not 100% sure about the volume rocker.
Similar to these sets... which I'm sure would work fine...
http://www.igonemobile.com/product.aspx?p=26831
http://www.amazon.com/Handsfree-Stereo-Headset-Original-16904-003/dp/B0046Z430I
The trick is finding a set that's 100% compatible. The stock headphones that HTC gives you are quite painful unless you're Shrek.
HAve you guys tried the Iphone ones ? Just a thought ..
These are probably the best bang for the buck.

With my TMOUS HD7 phone, I just use the phone mic with a regular headset and it works just fine. The phone mic seems to pick up pretty good even when driving. I never even tired the headset that came with the phone yet. The only issue I had is that if I plug it in after answering the phone, I will need to toggle the external speaker on and off for the phone to enable the phone mic.
Try the Creative Labs HS-730i, you can get those for under ~$30, if you know where to look. Unfortunately, I don't know any Indian online shopping search engines, as Google doesn't appear to have one.

Hi all...
Thanx for all your suggestions. Firstly, like I said, I have tried ALL companies. including the iPhone. To be honest, the iPhone one works. But there is no bass. Only kinnda treble.
I listen to Drum and Bass and Dubstep and it OBVIOUSLY needs a good headphone...
I was whining infront of a friend about my plight. and suddenly he said I have a sennheiser pair...wana try?? And I said, BLOODY HELL...why not...who can refuse sennheiser!!
AND BOOM!!!
Bloody hell!! WHat sound!! He can get me a good deal for it so on Monday I am gonna have one sexy pair of headphones for my 16 gig music...
But thanx a lot guy for your suggestions!
P.S: If you guys want I can tell you the code of these ones. It doesnt have a mic, nor a volume rocker...but then again, its sennheiser!!! Do i need to say more
Well, I thought you were looking for earphones with a mic... the phone has a standard 4 pin 3.5mm headphone jack, any stereo headphones under 1 watt with standard impedance will work just fine.
On a side note, though, if you want bass, Sennheiser is the wrong choice for you, they're too much focused on trebele frequency response. Philips or Panasonic headphones might be the better choice here.
Yeah... he even yelled that ALL HE WAS LOOKING FOR was headphones with a mic.
There's a million friggin stereo headphones you can use without volume rockers or mics.
the **** man.
sennheiser are ok but if you look for *the* sound, you want to try the westone. 3 real drivers, high/medium/bass. best sound around, about 400$ but I got mine for 3 years they still kick ass amd beat any other brand.

I really dont know but I think you cant abuse in here brother. It can get you banned. Yes, to answer what you have replied, i WAS looking for headphones with a mic, BUT I didn't get any..tried everything from Samsun, iPhone, Nokia..but nothing worked...
Sennies are just about OK(except the ie7 and ie8),there are MUCH better and cheaper options available.
I love my earsonics SM3 for headphones, but there's still plenty of other good choices. I suggest you go to head-fi to begin your search and narrow your budget.
Actually I am getting for a pretty good deal...they are originals...

Would these headphones work on my HD2

I'm looking for in-ear headphones, compatible with HD2. I have found these:
http://cgi.ebay.de/In-Ear-Stereo-He...80633234?pt=Handy_Zubehör&hash=item2303625c92
Would button and mic work with HD2?
Have anyone managed to find in-ear headphones with 3 buttons like HTC ones are?
Yes and as the ear plugs are just plugged in you can replace them with better ones if you wished
I advise against this earphones...it seems very poor quality...
Can you recommend ones then? I'm looking for in-ear headphones that with HD2 compatible controls.
Hey,
Don't know if anyone had answered your last post or if you got any headphones in the end.
The main thing you need to ask yourself is whether you want to have the functionality of the buttons on the headphones to control the phone (like answer/end call, skip music track etc.). Or whether you would rather get a pair of headphones that are of higher quality for music listening purposes.
Unfortunately, I doubt you will be able to find any decent quality ones with integrated controls (without spending a lot on a named brand like klipsch or b&o etc).
So really it is a personal decision on how much you are willing to spend, how comfortable you want them to be and for what purpose you are using them for.
There are many types of headphones/earphones to choose from, so you need to decide what's best for you.
Being an audio engineer, I go for quality. I own a pair of Klipsch Image X10i earphones (the ones that go inside your ear) for use when I am wanting to make calls etc as well as listen to music. The quality is great and the controls are useful. However, if I'm on a train or something and want to just listen to music and am not expecting calls, I have a pair of supra-aural headphones (the ones that sit on your ear) and also a pair of circum-aural headphones (the ones that enclose your ears). I have a pair of Sennheisers and a pair of Koss. Both of these have their advantages/disadvantages and are comfy in different ways.
Of course, if you're not bothered about audio quality, then there are plenty of cheap versions of the original HTC earphones. You need to make sure that they have a 4 pin connection and are NOT designed for blackberry or LG as these won't work (the pins are in a different configuration).
I hope that helps!
If you need any more guidance, let me know - I'll subscribe to the thread.
Seiphr
I have bought philips headphones in our local shop. I'm not picky about audio quality, but i don't want headphones to tear apart after some time of listening. And I'm happy with build quality of ones i bought.
I don't really need HTC buttons, but they are handy and while i planed to buy those headphones from the start, i have decided to have first peek at ebay to see if something decent with HTC buttons is there.
Anyway, thanks for your help.

earbuds with mic

The headphones that came with my play seem to be dying. Looking for a replacement:
Shure SE115M+
Does not work, get Accessory not supported message. meh
Phonak Perfect Bass
Got a straight connector, will be a problem in the pocket
So I'm looking for over the ear cabling and a right angle jack - any suggestions?
Cheers

No joy with that but I did find these on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-Ericss...WV3G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1311248051&sr=8-1
Ordered last week and delivered yesterday - not bad considering they have come from Germany. Proper Sony box, extra buds. Yay I have sound in both ears
Also.. this looks the business:
http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/products/accessories/overview/live-sound?cc=gb&lc=en#view=overview
No word on eta or price though
I got the MW600 Bluetooth... I great to have it wireless..., however... I don't like the quality of the headphones on either the Play Box or the MW600...
I can recommend the Samsung S8000 (JET) heaset... I used to have one it is GREAT!!!!
The sound is great on the and it has a jack for 3.5 on the Mic, so you can change the headphones only if you want... also it has a 90 degree plug. (funny because it make it uncorfortable on the JET... but GREAT for the PLAY.
Mine are also dying, slowly the volume output is getting lower and lower
Undecided on new headphones as well.
Don't want to spend money to have it die a month later, or have poor audio output .
MH650 are the stock ones that came with the phone? don't really want to buy ones that died within a month of use again.
Be careful what headphones you buy!
I bought Skullcandy FIX ear buds ( http://www.skullcandy.com/shop/fix-bud-navy-black.html ) and they dont work with the phone. The plug goes in but because of the curve on the phone, doesnt go in all the way so you get a weird cross channel. The headphones work awesomely in every other thing I tried, so it's basically just the curve on the body of the phone that stops it.

[Q] Stock headset

Okay, so i was out the other day and relised i had lost my original headphones while i was out. I use headphones daily and couldn't live without them.
Question is does anyone stock the original Samsung Headset with the PTT(push to talk) button on it? or maybe another manufacturer that works with the Ace.
Preferably I'm looking for standard rather than the in-ear pair.
Thanks in advance!
I've tested it with an original headset from LG (LG optimus one). And worked!
Maybe you should try buy a new one and test it before you actually buy it.
the pinout of samsung's stock headset is universal, you may use it on iPod, HP 4-pole audio+mic jack and in others, but not on nokia. nokia headsets follow a different pinout pattern, swapping ground to mic+shield. well, I did successfully converted a nokia headset to a universal one.
wait, I was lost there, but still, samsung's 3.5mm jack is universal. only nokia is an exception. hehehe. you may use any headset except for old iPod headsets and nokia headsets. iPod 4, iPhone 4 and newest ipods have the universal jack pinout configuration that shares with almost all of handsets.
Thanks for the replies guys. Done a bit of digging around and found a user on eBay selling original headsets for £3
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
I tried my old Sony Ericsson headset and the sound was so distorted. It was like the speakers were rattleing although the sound was so quiet...
anyways, as mentioned before, i've found a set on ebay and a reasonably good price of £2.20
Not sure if i'm allowed to link to ebay pages but here goes...
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/280795430244?_trksid=p5197.c0.m619
If I had a pound for every time i saw something sold as genuine on Ebay
We'll see what happens when they come, if they function properly ect... then at the end of the day i'm not fussed
Just got the set through this morning... Seems like stock, build quality is as good as my original, sounds is ok. and the button functions. So £2.20 well spent...
Thanks for your help guys
