Problem flashing recovery.img

Ok I've the Russian fastboot ROM installed on the phone and in the process and this is as far as I get
Code:
Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
(C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.
C:\android-sdk-windows\tools>fastboot.exe flash recovery C:\misc.img
(and I've tried the other recovery.img also)
< waiting for device >
I've tried that plugging in and out of different USB drives as suggested by a few people
I've a feeling it's something to do with the drivers, could someone please post a link to the suitable drivers for this, because whenever I plug it in it say "new Device found: Android" and then I click on the bubble and try to install the suggested driver but it fails to find any driver for it.

Dell Streak 7 Fastboot

Just wanted to share for those who were unsure about how to get the Streak 7 into Fastboot, hold down power+vol down while powering up - hold until you get text on the screen saying in white text

Stuck in Fastboot
I did vital mistake by going into Fastboot without enabling USB debugging and now I can not get out!
I tried holding down the power button for minutes and also reversed the the method in how how got into this mess [holding Power+Volume(-)] with no success.
The worst part is I just bought it and played with it for no more than one hour!!
Please help!!!
Just use the pinhole reset by the sd card.
I woke up this morning to a dead battery, I plugged the charger and let is sit for ten minutes. Then, It powered up...relief!!
Thanks for the tip on the reset pin hole button.
fastboot devices, does not see the dell streak 7, drivers are installed properly, adb works fine.

Thanks, but when I do that I get 5 choices :
0 - Boot Up
1. Factory Reset
2. Software upgrade via upadte.pkg
3. Factory Reset
4. Power Off
If I keep on holding it says :
"Please release power key before selecting function!!!"
What's the trick to get into fastboot mode? Thanks!

Duh...the + had me think it was "volume +", works now, thanks !
My apologies for the lack of clarity, I should have said to press and hold the power and volume - at the same time to get into fastboot..

Fastboot Commands
Where do I type them in? If I launch Fastboot.exe (after resolving the adbwinapi.dll not found issue) it pops up in a command console but then immediately disappears. Do I have to use a standard command prompt? (cmd.exe) and if so, what directory do I need to be in?
Thanks.
Lol, this post seems funny now after all i've been through. How quick we learn.
Run then cmd. Enter. You should be at a command window. If you have the device on plug it up and type adb devices. Enter. should pull up your serial number. Whatever path you created should read after the c:/ whatever path you created.
Sent from Re-Engineered dInc
If I use 'adb' i get command not recognized. If I do 'fastboot reboot' I get <waiting for device>. If I do 'fastboot devices' it just reproduces the command prompt with no other response. Am I not properly mounted to the device?

Your missing drivers then. Or you didn't create a path when installing sdk. I suggest a fresh install of sdk with this guide.

Hmm. So i have used fastboot many times before and I can't seem to make it work for this device. 2 machines, sdk installed propperly and still no go. It can't find the device... any ideas?
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
The drivers for the device are stored on the sd card. Mount your internal sd to your pc and pull the drivers. Install the driver for your os. That should fix it. If you installed sdk and the latest platform tools along with the google drivers you should be set once the drivers are installed. Also when you put your device into fastboot and plug it into the pc does it ask to install new hardware? Mine did. But seems like your missing the drivers.
Sent from Re-Engineered dInc
nope. drivers were installed. i see the device in the device manager. i tried version 2 of the drivers that comes with the streak and also tried version 4 that comes with the sdk. nothing
Does adb work?
Sent from Re-Engineered dInc
adb devices shows the device when it is booted in android.
Can you run commands through adb with a command window? If so then fastboot technically should work. What's it list in device manager under android phone? Something composite. When I get home ill see what mine says when Im in fastboot.

This is how you flash software on your phone:
1. Computer: Open Emma from the Start menu of your computer.
2. Connect a USB cable to your computer.
3. Phone: Turn off your phone.
4. Connect your phone to the USB cable while holding the flash key (for example Volume
down). The flash key varies between models.

is that worked by you (in windows 8)?
For PC companion, your phone doesn't need to be in flash mode, just connect it to your computer. Make sure you can install unsigned drivers in Win8.

Guys, the drivers need to be installed after disabling driver signature checking;
1. Hit Windows key + i
2. Navigate to the link on the bottom 'change pc settings'
3. Go to general, and scroll to the bottom and select 'restart now' at the bottom.
4. Hit troubleshoot, it will list what you can do (but you don't select an option yet).
5. Once the reboot happens, you will be prompted to select an option... select # 7 IIRC. (it will say disable driver signature)
6. Run driver install
7. Profit!

Start the upgrade clicking in the yellow arrow on the top/left of the program window.
Three (3) ports will look like comunicating (in the next image you'll see only two cause I'm not really flashing), but
only one is the right one. Two of them will stay stucked in x% and a third port will go higher. Memorize the one that goes higher cause is that one.
In my case, this time was the nr. 3.
View attachment 1784757
Close the program and re-start it. This time, go to "port settings" and select only the port that you memorized,
start the upgrade and you just need to wait for the phone to reboot.
In case of that port fails, choose one of the other two untill you hit the good one.
If you don't see 3 ports, its something wrong and probably this won't work...
Easy
To set manually the port to "1", connect the phone in S/W Mode, open windows "Device Manager",
select “LGE CDMA USB Serial Port”, right click in "properties", connection settings advanced and set it to “com41″

God luck :fingers-crossed:
silly me... had to run lgflashtool as admin
did not work either, only got 1 port active, and it failed to download the file to my phone

[Q] need help if someone can...

ok i tryied to use all in one tool and i want to flash to ics to my thrill but as far as i got is on the tool it goes to stage 2 but waiting for device stays there even after i do place to battery in it.. it acts all over again as if it cant find the driver for cosmo i think that is what it is called....but im running windows 7
When it says waiting on device try pulling out the usb and then plug it right back in. I use to have to do that, but if that doesn't work then it may be a driver issue.
Maybe start the tool and when it says waiting for omap4430 device, hold down vol+ and plug in your phone but don't let go of vol+. Pop in battery like normal and it should boot you into download mode. See if that helps get your LG Cosmo driver to install, though it should install as LGE CDMA USB SERIAL PORT. if that doesn't happen, as a last resort uninstall all LG mobile drivers, reboot cpu, download the files from step 1 and step 5 of this post---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39269819 (bag of goodies and wkparks 1.21) Turn off your anti virus and windows defender before doing anything. Once thats done unzip the two files mentioned above. Run the omap flash installer and re install both Sets of LG mobile drivers in the bag of goodies package (second set will pop up a warning for unsigned drivers a few times; hit YES do it anyways, and then re install omap by directing the driver update to the windows drivers folder in the wkparks bootloader1.21 tool. Hopefully this helps.
Here is a much better explaination from drastic00's tutorial. Follow these steps to the T and you should be flashing in no time
" A) Uninstall any LG Drivers:
a1) Open Programs and Features through Control Panel
a2)Find any drivers called "LG United Mobile Driver." Right click and select Uninstall, let it work.
a3)Reboot your pc!
B) Be sure you disabled antivirus/Windows Defender, etc. before unpacking these files.
C) Install OMAP4430 by running "OMAPFlashInstaller."
NOTE: if you have Fastboot installed SKIP this step (if you don't know, you don't have it...), but DO link the driver as in f4.
D) Install the two LG Drivers in the “LG United Mobile Drivers” folder: These are “LGUnitedMobileDriver_S497CA20_WHQL_ML_Ver_1. 0” and “LGUnitedMobileDriver_S497MA20_WHQL_ML_Ver_1. 0” The second one will warn it is unsigned, choose to install anyway (you will have to insist on this a few times here).
E)Reboot your pc!
F)Install PC/phone drivers:
f1)Shut down your phone. Remove external sd card, SIM card and battery.
f2) Open Device Manager from Control Panel
f3) Hold volume up on phone and connect to USB port. Keep holding volume up.
f4)Look for "OMAP4430" blinking on and off in Device Manager with a yellow question mark under "Other Devices." (You can let go of the phone). If you do not see it, look for "TI Boards" blinking in device manager and quickly open the arrow. Then uninstall that OMAP4430 (right click, check box to uninstall device and driver, confirm), disconnect phone and reconnect with volume up. Then...
f.4.1) You will need to 'catch' OMAP4430 (with yellow question mark) by right-clicking on it when it appears under "Other Devices." Choose "Update Driver Software."
f.4.2) Pick "Browse my computer for driver software." Then "Let me pick..."
f.4.3) Leave "All..." selected under Devices. Then "Have Disk."
f.4.4) Navigate to the omap4boot-for_optimus-v1.21 folder and choose "omap_winusb" in the usb_drv_windows folder.
f.4.5) Windows will warn the driver is unsigned. Install anyway. An OMAP4430 device should appear under the list of devices. Confirm the selection. Let the driver install.
f.4.6) Disconnect the phone and again reconnect with volume up held.
f5) You should see a popup at the bottom of your screen about drivers (the LG USB drivers) installing. (If you do not see it, disconnect phone, reboot your pc, and again connect it without battery while holding volume up). When you do see drivers installing, let go of the volume button. Click the popup to see the progress. Let it finish.
f6) Look for “LGE CDMA USB SERIAL PORT” in Device Manager. Right click on it and go to Properties
f7) Select the "Port Settings" tab and click 'Advanced'.
f8) Change 'COM Port Number:' to COM41. Click OK, then OK again.
f9) Disconnect your phone from the PC." (From drastic00's noob tutorial)
